URBNET is proud to announce the signing of Toronto based Hip-Hop recording artist d-sisive, and the release of his new album “The Book” with the first single “Ambulance” featuring Tom Waits, due out on Tuesday, May 27, 2008.
d-sisive, from Toronto, Ontario, started his musical journey when he was barely old enough to drive. Originally influenced by the sounds of DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, d-sisive’s musical influences evolved to include Cypress Hill, Funkdoobiest, Wu Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Tom Waits and The Beach Boys.
He drew from these inspirations to begin writing his own lyrics which lead to his first EP “J.A.C.” which was released independently in 1998. This lead to numerous collaborations including Mastermind, Len, Abs & Fase and Classified, but it was collaborating with DJ/Producer Serious on the song “Popped” that gave d-sisive world wide attention.
This attention turned into a period of self awareness for d-sisive which turned into a regrouping, reevaluation and renewal period. Resurfacing in 2005, d-sisive teamed up with DJ Format to work together on two of the singles from the album, “If You Can’t Join ‘Em, Beat ‘Em”, which debuted at #1 on the UK Independent Music Charts and lead to a European Tour. With the momentum of the tour d-sisive released “Yesterday. The Mixtape”, a collection of early recordings and rare, unreleased material from 1995 to 2004.
Back in North America, d-sisive joined forces with Stu Stone and Jamie Kennedy co-writing and producing the internet sensation “Rolling With Saget”, which involved a video featuring Bob Saget, John Stamos and George Lucas that was featured on the MTV series ‘Blowin Up’.
