There's not many golden scripts, that are automatically classic movies waiting to be made, but I think a great director and producer can get the best out of a movie. Jerry Bruckheimer & Tony Scott was a great team, that's why we got such a great movie in Enemy of the State plus a great performance by Will..It also had Gene Hackmen in the cast. If you surround yourself with quality people the project will rise above any weaknesses in a script. I've found that since Will is now developing his own movies at Overbrook, the supporting cast has not been great. No big name actors.. the directors have not been the cream of the crop, and the producers fall in that same category. I don't know how the 6 or 7 movies he has in development will turn out in the future, but I think they are missing some great opportunities by not going after the very best.

Big name directors want to call their own shots and make the decisions, and not have interference. Someone like Muccino will pretty much let Will decide things and change around the script and such. That's an excellent point. You will find Will's best movies have been with directors who challenge Will and disagree with him! He had huge fights with tenant..but Hitch turned out well.. same with Bay and Bad Boys II..another good job.. someone like sonnenfield and muccino will just agree with Will & co

hang on.. Ali was never nominated for best film..pursuit of happyness was never nominated for best film.. only Will's performance.. thats the problem with these movies.. they were "good" not "great" If Will is going to do drama's he needs to select better directors..why not go after the very best?

Are you serious? Pursuit was a wonderful movie, and Will did the best interpretation in his whole life. I can't stand Nick Cage... Thanks for the info! I'm with Typhoon on this one.. I just don't think Muccino did that great a job on Pursuit..

I think the hollywood machine dictates that it can't be a small art film. There is simply too much money at stake. It will be interesting to see what survives. Unless we have no Willisms or hell nawss to look forward to in this 1

I Love Lucy is playing on the TV in the background which makes that weird :lolsign: The writers are striking because they don't get enough money on the back end after film grosses dvd sales etc.. so the movie studios are rushing to complete as many movies as possible.. their contract runs out in about december..but they are gonna wait till june next year when the actors agreement ends so they can all strike together
