  6. I think the little brother track was high quality, lucky we got the EP I guess.. trotm is 80 mins long so he had no room for extra tracks.. 5 missed the cut apparently including skillz track and I think 1 with musiq
  7. www.nobodysmiling.com DJ Jazzy Jeff - The Return Of The Magnificent Album Review by: William E. Ketchum III Mon, April 2nd, 2007 DJ Jazzy Jeff-The Return Of The MagnificentWith his lack of activity in the mainstream rap scene, some may think that Jazzy Jeff’s closest relevance to today’s entertainment scene is getting tossed out the Banks mansion by Uncle Phil on sitcom reruns. But real heads know that Jeff’s hip-hop contributions didn’t stop with the Fresh Prince albums of the late 80s and early 90s. After dropping his critically-acclaimed solo debut, The Magnificent, in 2002, Jeff has kept busy DJing shows and releasing installments with his Hip Hop Forever compilation series. With his sophomore solo set, Jazzy Jeff gets down behind the boards and employs some indie rap’s finest to help show listeners that he hasn’t lost a step. As evident by his recent efforts (and by his name), Jeff’s penchant lies in lacing lush, laid back grooves. His silky, layered keys for CL Smooth on “All I Know” stands up with the material CL made with Pete Rock, and “The Garden” uses lush keys and guitar keys to accentuate Big Daddy Kane’s ode to hip-hop. Jeff’s R&B hustle is in tact as well, perfectly backing songstress ChinahBlac’s coos with soft piano keys on “Touch Me Wit Ur Hands” and providing a grown and sexy two-step for soulster Raheem DeVaughn with “My Soul Ain’t For Sale.” But don’t get it twisted: Jazzy Jeff is the same producer who laced upbeat party grooves for Will Smith, and there are still plenty of hard-hitting, hip-hopcentric efforts as well. “Jeff N Fess” features Rhymefest rhyming over Jeff’s frenetic scratching and a catchy breakbeat, and State Property alumnus Peedi Peedi runs wild over the rejuvenated old school feel of “Brand New Funk 2k7.”In perhaps the most interesting moment of the LP, “Hold It Down” sees Jeff breaks more needles and employs an assertive head nodder that deftly matches Method Man’s braggadocios quips. The Return Of The Magnificent’s flaws are few and far between. “She Was So Fly” features another silky instrumental, but it clashes with Kardinal Offishall’s loud, energetic flow. Also puzzling is the exclusion of the Little Brother-featured “Whatever U Want” and the snazzy instrumental “Bossynova,” each of which were on the previously leaked EP version of the album. Nevertheless, 'The Return Of The Magnificent' lives up to its name—the triumphant homecoming
  8. come on now..its obvious the studio wants to keep the budget down so all of Will's latest movies have had no other big name actors..thats why sony won't make bad boys III because paying Will, martin, michael bay and jerry bruckheimer costs too much
  9. hell yes! I wore my ren and stempy mr horse shirt proudly until I saw 10 year olds wearing them :4-only1ha:
  10. I think it has more to do with Will's salary being so high 30 million plus profits from the movie they don't even have the money to get the best directors or great actors to co-star with Will.. When Will was with Gene Hackman in enemy of the state that was awesome.. and donald sutherland, ian mckellen and stockhard channing in 6 degrees wow.. but I, Robot..Hitch..pursuit of happyness..I, am legend and then tonight, he comes.. have got no1 but Will.. how good would it have been to have jonny depp and will in I, Am legend.. the movie would have been huge.. if Will was gonna use lesser known directors he could get the most talented ones..
  11. this year has been very good for me.. health at optimum levels.. finally doing sumthing i'm enjoying.. this journalism course at university/college and just managed to pull off a very successful australian pm dawn tour with my man ether.. mentally I feel very strong..so bring on the rest of 07
  12. I think gabrielle muccino and then Francis Lawrence has set a disturbing trend.. Will should be working with the very best now he's the no. 1 man in hollywood.. why not spielberg, scorcese etc ?
  13. I don't necessarily agree. I think we have too small a sample size to make any definitive statement on the issue. Will got along quite well with Muccino and Pursuit of Happyness was an excellent film... One of Will's best in fact. I've also heard that Will and Andy Tennant got along well and agreed on most things Hitch... and that project came out well too. And there's Michael Mann... and will worked with Sonnefield for MIB and that came out pretty well... to the point where he wanted to work with him on a sequel... Incidentally, the fact that Will and his directors don't agree on everything doesn't mean that they don't get along. I arent saying they dont get along at the end of the day.. Pursuit was a decent movie with a great performance by Will.. same with Ali they wernt great movies.. Andy tennant and Will had huge fights.. I think if you just let Will have his way.. like firing all the fpoba writers at the end of season 3..season 4 was then poor.. its not the best idea.. you need directors who have their own vision and challenge Will
  14. Hey philaflava thanks for checking out the site... We all know Will has people come in and write tracks with him..and frankly we don't like it.. I can tell when skillz has written somethin for Will.. in Lost and Found the track Will has a line For real though I ain’t playin Plenty of ya’ll love a brotha just scared to say it Yo the first ever rap grammy Let’s talk about the only reason yo ass went to Miami I mean that was clearly written by skillz..its in skillz style.. but I don't see anything in Mr Nice Guy that has the skillz vibe.. he is not listed in the credits..why would he do it and not get paid? I believe Skillz is telling the truth.. I wouldn't believe everything people in the industry tell you.. its a shady business hah.. Also you should ask Jeff about this for your interview..I'd be interested to here what he has to say
  15. that was my show! still got a darkwing duck action figure and limited edition 4 part comic series
  16. All the movie people are definite yes men.. and Will's earnt so many billions of dollars for them he's earnt the right to tell them what he wants.. his inner circle are not yes men though..hammer JL, omar, bam, etc have been with Will since the jjfp days.. As far as directors I think the best movies have come from directors Will hasnt gotten along with.. michael bay (bad boys 1 and 2) andy tennant (hitch) they've had fights etc over the movie but they got great movies at the end of it.. when will does a movie with someone he gets along with sonenfield (mib 2, wild wild west) the movie inevitably ends up being crap.. thats why I think I am Legend will be disappointing.. Will has chosen francis lawrence because he wants him to do it..but Francis Lawrence is not a good director..and he will prob agree with Will since he got him the job.. he wont challenge Will like a tony scott(enemy of the state) so we end up with more hollywood rubbish
  17. willennium is a hip hop classic.. but thats what happens when you got jeff doing the beats :1-say-yes:
  18. collector cards were big.. there were card shops everywhere in 92/93 ... man I wonder how much my chris webber is worth these days :3-laugh3:
  19. wouldn't be the first cheap throwaway line mtv or anyone else threw at Will.. ahh haters :bufordpusser:
  20. I'd say its ranked lower because its sort of repeating what was done on he's the dj..and the beats aren't as strong as homebase/code red/ and he's the dj.. I really like the album though..it does grow on you..
