  1. Those last 2 reviews I agree with.. maybe they should have used chris gardners story to tell a broader picture.. overstating all these "feel-good" moments really is unneccesary.. based on the reviews of course..still waiting to see the movie myself..
  2. That's EXACTLY how I feel! And it wasn't only that they listened to all kinds of music, but they were genuine in who they were and didn't follow any trends or copy anyone directly. Each took their influences and created their own sound. Now it's just bitin to make money. I think Weird Al's "White & Nerdy" is a better rap song than what most of these "hip hop artists" put out (notice I didn't use the word "rapper"). That song sure describes me well. :bandana: Atleast people like us are still around to keep hip hop alive..
  3. You can still have a great performance in an average or poor movie..
  4. "You dont know where you're going till you know where you've been" The problem with the newer generation is they arent listining to public enemy, epmd, run dmc, marvin gaye, donald byrd, charles mingus They are listening to nas/jay z/50 cent..maybe some 2pac and biggie.. Its a very narrow world..and they only listen to rap.. Thats why all this new stuff sounds the same.. Before hip hop artists used to listen to ALL KINDS of music.. there was huge diversity in successful rappers.. in 87 you had public enemy, whodini, nwa, epmd, ll cool j, jazzy jeff & fresh prince.. These artists were all successful but they were all very different!

  6. http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/entertainment/16202518.htm This is a really annoying writer..who basically bags everything Will has done previously. If Will starts making movies for guys like this he's in trouble.. You can read the article though..theres some good quotes from Will.. like this
  7. Yeah I can't wait to see the movie, to see what its like..
  8. The movie also has to be entertaining..or thought provoking.. reliving a 20/20 story based on someones life does not make a great movie.. I hope the scripts a lot better than the early reviews say.. Look I never take any notice of critics when they review movies like bad boys II, or independance day, or anything like that. I do pay attention when they review the serious dramas..
  9. more bad reviews.. http://emanuellevy.com/article.php?articleID=3933
  10. If anyone longs for the days of tribe called quest de la soul jungle brothers and black sheep.. the new black sheep album is awesome.. dres kills the rhymes..and the beats are dope with a jazzy flavour.. real hip hop! you can listen to traxs from the album here: http://www.myspace.com/blacksheep
  11. Yeah it was shot in LA.. LA hills maybe?
  12. I've read reviews about that..apparently they are the best tracks that he left off!
  13. Another great article :wickedwisdom:
  14. ID4 and MIB are review proof.. if you are doing a serious dramatic movie and the reviews are poor you are in trouble.. I'd say it now has no chance of getting a best picture nod at the oscars..and it may have weak legs..depending on how the audience responds... Critics cant hate a movie and audiences love it.. but a movie like Pursuit good reviews can really help.
  15. This was my greatest fear.. everything is so stage and so over the top..as "hollywood uplifting" that you kind of miss the raw emotion..and it could be another, "good performance by Will, not a great movie" ala Ali.. I'm always coming from the cynical angle tho, so I'm sure a lot of people will love it.. Negative reviews from hollywood reporter and variety does not bode well :paperbag:
  16. weirdest thing..i was out tonight and they played sing hallelujah.. :3-laugh3:
  17. topdawgs been on this album for a while now.. I loved that brand new jones track a few years ago.. and the I wanna love you girl single with pharrell is great.. Anyway I finally checked out the album..and it is indeed fantastic!! :wickedwisdom: :wickedwisdom: :wickedwisdom: Thanks for the reccomendation TD.. who would have thought the son of the dad on growing pains would make the best soul album of the year..
  18. Thats ridiculous that those get sold.
  19. yeah been discussed before extremely unfunny
