4. i dont think the commercial rap artists are very diverse at all..most of the talent lies in the underground... dilated peoples/jurassic 5/blackalicious etc came from the underground...

6. the New Jersey native is a huge lover of vintage rap music, specifically the era that spanned the late '80s Old School into the mid '90s New School. He's made reference to everyone from Run DMC to DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince in his films. Hell, Jersey Girl basically culminates Smith's lifelong love of rap with a cameo from none other than Will Smith himself. "It was cool on a couple different levels," Smith gleefully admits when asked about working with Smith. "Being like an Old School rap fan in high school who did listen to a lot of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, it was cool on that level. It was cool on the level of like 'F@#k it, it's Will Smith!' you know, who's like a massive movie star, but also just one of the sweetest dudes on the planet, a really nice guy. And it was cool on the level of being a kind of cool, surprise cameo that not a lot of people know about. So having that moment where he sits down next to Ben is a real kind of like an 'Ahhhh!' moment for the audience. So it worked on a couple different levels for me. It was kind of sweet. But it was also kind of cool to give Old School rap a little shout out 'cause now rap is like, you know, 50 Cent and Eminem and all that stuff. Back when I got into it, it wasn't. It was all about throwin' your hands in the air and wavin' 'em like I just don't care. Now it's about dudes who get shot multiple times, which is a type of rap that I can't really identify with that much."
7. NICK AT NITE CROWNS WILL SMITH WHEN THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR JOINS NICK AT NITE LINE-UP IN SEPTEMBER New York, NY, May 5, 2004 – Grammy Award-winning rapper and celebrated film and television performer Will Smith settles into his throne as the Prince of Bel Air when the hilarious hit comedy, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, joins the Nick at Nite line-up beginning Monday, September 13, 2004. Amid the hilarious comedy of clashing cultures as the wealthy Banks family opens their home - and their checkbook - to their needy relative Will, the teen adapts easily to their indulgent lifestyle and reminds them that the simplest pleasures of family life can't be bought at any price. "Will is an icon, and this "fish out of water" sitcom is completely fun and family-friendly – a perfect fit for Nick at Nite," explains Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land and Nick at Nite. Co-executive-produced by music legend Quincy Jones, the NBC comedy aired from 1990 to 1996 and focuses on Will (Smith), a teenager from a tough West Philadelphia neighborhood whose mother sends him to live with his wealthy relatives in Bel Air, California. It's a tough adjustment for the teenager at first, whose streetwise ways don't seem to fit in with their ornate mansion, luxurious cars and live-in butler. Will immediately clashes with Uncle Phillip (James Avery), a pompous, successful lawyer who was raised in a tough neighborhood much like Will's and enjoys teaching him lessons and catching him on his crazy shenanigans. Aunt Vivian (Janet-Hubert Whitten and later Daphne Maxwell Reid) is the mediator between the two, and Geoffrey (Joseph Marcell), the always-proper butler, becomes one of Will's closest allies. Among his cousins, Will enjoys teasing the preppy Carlton (Alfonso Ribeiro) and spoiled Hilary (Karen Parsons), while taking teenager Ashley (Tatyana M. Ali) under his wing and becoming her confidante. The brood expands with the birth of Nicholas "Nicky" Banks (Ross Bagley). Other regulars on the hit show throughout its run are: Jazz (Jeff Townes{D.J. Jazzy Jeff}), Will's off-beat best friend who brings a little soul into the Banks' mansion; Jackie (Tyra Banks), Will's ex-girlfriend from Philadelphia who complicates his life when he gets to college and Lisa (Nia Long), Will's girlfriend to whom he is shortly engaged.

13. Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince doing Secret Live Shows! This is what Jeff says in a recent interview with Voice in the UK. “We hooked up in LA, not long ago to do an old Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince show, which was good. This summer, we're gonna try and do some really surprise guest shows. We wanna just show up unannounced at a couple of places and just perform. Will's gonna be on the East Coast working on a movie soon, so with him in New York and me in Philadelphia, I'll be able to drive up and see him in my spare time.” Check out the full interview here
14. Hollywood News > "Taste Your Fruit" not about oral sex, fumes Jada Pinkett Smith New York, May 7 (ANI): Hollywood actress Jada Pinkett Smith has rubbished suggestions that her song "Taste Your Fruit" is about giving oral sex. The Matrix Revolutions star, 32 is furious that "Taste Your Fruit", which she composed for her husband Will Smith, has been misunderstood by music associates and the media. "Tasting your fruit is supposed to symbolize the nurturing aspect of the male character. So, that's what it was supposed to be about," Jada was quoted as saying by imdb. "But every time someone hears the song and they hear the title they're like 'Now what exactly is 'Tasting Your Fruit' supposed to mean?'" she added "It wasn't until my husband brought it up to me, he was like 'You know what people are going to think when they hear this song!' "You can interpret it anyway you please!" she concluded.

17. New Internet-Only I, Robot Trailer Hits! Source: MysteryClock.com Friday, May 7, 2004 Director Alex Proyas has released an internet-only I, Robot trailer on his official website, which so far best captures the intensity of the Will Smith-starrer, which opens on July 16 and is based on the classic short story collection by Isaac Asimov. In the year 2035, robots are an everyday household item, and everyone trusts them, except one, slightly paranoid detective (Smith) investigating what he alone believes is a crime perpetrated by a robot. The case leads him to discover a far more frightening threat to the human race. This one's worth a peek! Check it out in QuickTime by clicking the link below: http://www.mysteryclock.com/irobot/
18. VH1: What was your first car? Ludacris: Aw, man, you don’t want to know about my first car! I was in high school – it was an ’86 Plymouth Reliant, one of those box cars. I bought it from my teacher. What made it so bad was the paint job. When you do a wax job and leave the wax on there for too long, it permanently messes up the paint on the car. But I didn’t care because it was my first car. I just didn’t want to ride the cheese anymore – we called the school bus “the cheese.” I didn’t care what it looked like as long as I had wheels and speakers in the trunk. That’s what we liked doing in the South. We love getting big speakers. As long as our sound system is cool, the car can be completely messed up! [Watch Clip] VH1: Were you the guy who would drive around and pick up all your pals? L: Everybody was trying to get a ride! If you don’t jump on the bus, you're in a cooler category - because the day you’re not on the bus, everybody’s like, “Damn! Where’s what-his-name? He must have got a ride with somebody. Lucky him!” In the car, we’d blast “Summertime” by Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince on our way to school. We'd even in the wintertime, because at that point you’re just waiting for the summer to come.
