When K says he's the "Fresh Prince", he's referencing the TV show. Because he was a trouble kid in West Philly who got send to live with his rich aunt and uncle to straighten out. He's not claiming to have his Uncle's rapping abilities. But I agree, he needs to at this alone and make his own name, the same way people need to like/hate him for his own abilities, and not compare him to FP.

I don't think the voting here was any better than the Vibe one. U still had the same problems where wack emcees will progress 2 round 2 while some legends and pioneers will be left behind becuz they were up against another legend. Not 2 mention taking about half an hour 2 make all the votes.
The best rapper will still emerage as the winner, because the best rapper will beat any opponant regardless of if they are wack or a legend. Its just means some great emcee's wont go as deep as maybe they should do. But the final result will still be the same. This is to find the ONE best rapper, not find the top 10 (or whatever it may be).

Th JJFP released an amazing with "He's The Dj..", but thats not why they won a grammy. They won it because they were the public friendly option. The grammy almost allways goes to the most popular artists/album that year, that's why it went to Lil Wayne last year. Because, like JJFP, he was the public's sweetheart. Whoever thinks the Grammys are about quality is far from reality. Sure, they often nominate good albums, and sometimes good albums even win.. But there are allways tons of beter albums that werent even considered to be nomated, because they did not pop up in the public eye. It's not about good music, it's about popular music.
Thats the point I was making. Public images rules the results for the most part.
But the JJFP award was one of the least quetsionable when it comes to that circumstance.

I see their points JJFP were the public friendly option.
But I think over the history of the Grammy awards, JJFP winning that is one of the least questionable.
For example, Lil Wayne won 4 awards last year, (beating the likes of Nas, Jigga, Lupe, Snoop) nuff said?

I think this needs to be based on things like, lyrics, flow, longevity, diversity and consistency. I think it also needs to be judged for overall ability. For example, someone like FP, I wouldnt consider him to be 'great' in any of those catagories I suggested, but he is 'good' in them all, whereas others excel in certain areas and lack in others. For example, Slick Rick has a great flow and his story telling lyrics are second to none, but his diversity isn't very high. This is gonna be a confusing vote.
Maybe we should get a list of catagories, rate each rapper in all catagories (say out of 10) and see what the average is for each artist. Because surely the best rapper ever is the one who can deliver in all areas at a decent/consistent level?

Like Ty said, the things that's annoying about season 5&6 not being realease is, you see so many tv shows coming to DVD, that have never, and probably never will be as popular as FPOBA is. Also, if WB can't get the full set of FPOBA out on DVD, theres little to no chance of All of Us being released.

In a way Em is actually dissing himself, saying he HAS to curse to sell records. You could see that as meaning he doesnt think his ability is good enough, so to sell records he curses. Whereas he's giving props to Will for not having to curse. You could do that if you wanted to overdramatize a situation.
Me, I just enjoy the song, coz its pretty fly IMO.

Im just a lil bit doubtful with the Nba these years.. I know that some games are sold and that officialing is ruling who wins and who doesnt. It is just weird.

It felt a bit funny to me. I believe the Lakers gave up the Sixth game to go home for a 7th one.. When Phil Jackson was interviewed after that game he said that everybody knows how good they are at home and that the 40 plus game they won is a prove, and that they were going to prove that again, no worries. Something just didnt smell right to me.
I dont think that would have been the case, its too risky to just throw a game when there was every possibility Houston could turn up with blow torch heat in LA.

LL definitly started it, his ego got a head of him and he took what was admiration as disrespect.
