  1. If I were you, I wouldn't open them.
  2. I never knew it was Heavy D, until one day. How many versions could there be? Probably as many as Kel Spencer's "The Season" Dead Prez feat. Talib Kweli - Sharp Shooters
  3. 400 Bars...Four, Hundred, Bars... I could do that. :lolsign:
  4. Define outdo, and I just might prove you wrong.
  5. KRS One didn't say Tupac was God. Nobody did. It was just a modern day comparision. "I mean I could care less if they listen to wack songs"- Are you sure about saying that? Here we are debating/arguing these problems, and to not do anything about it, would just be basically, I guess hypocritical is the right word. I read today in a college blog I think it was, that Kweli said in his speech that, "I might wanna hear a "crunk" song in the club, but not 4 in the afternoon in my car with my kids. There's a time and a place for it."
  6. I never seen the movie, so I can't comment. The soundtrack, it has that "hunger aura" from his other albums.
  7. It makes sense to make LL #1 or even consider him in there (for the points made). I think at what level he keeps his diversity (the women/tough guy) is the problem for people. LL has like the perfect mix of a mind for Hip Hop. He wanted the chains, the cars, and the girls and all that. And even when he got it, he didn't go overboard. Not only that, but he probably actually owned his stuff instead of borrowing it for a pitiful 4 minute imitation. And then you got that desire in being true to his craft. And he's not even an artist who cusses a lot; it's either a little or not at all. One thing I'll always remember is when VH1 had a special about the Arsenio Hall Show, and Arsenio mentioned how "a lot of people can't be true to themselves and make money, and Lenny Kravitz was doing them both". That apparently reigns true.
  8. That sounded pretty nice. Vocals are fitting like you could make it.
  9. Firstly, I knew that KRS quote was coming. It has ever right to fit in this discussion. Secondly, this ain't a diss to you, but in reference to that battle and 200 some songs meaning you can't be F'd with, I'd really like to see that. I really really would. btw, country may be no better. They go just as "hip hop". They drive dem dang ol' big ol' trucks with them rim thingys, and call they girly's backside a uh, 'honkytonk badokadok'. :lolsign: And I could have a strong opinion about the list, but it's really no reason to make sense of this and accept it, much like the 24/7 stuff we witness on tv. Like I said, I can see why they made the list they did, but it's just not making a believer out of me. It's got me careless as to what MTV thinks, particularly for something like this.
  10. I have that Fabolous mixtape where he gets at Mase. It's called "Loso's Way - Rise To Power" It's a pretty phat mixtape. To me, only disc 1 was, so that's all I got. When on MTV, Mobb Deep said they were talking about the hood perspective of how God's viewed, a version you don't really hear. Ted, do you know for a fact what your saying? (about them wanting to beat God down) If you think Mobb Deep dissing God is something, how about Vince McMahon putting God in a tag team match? It's so stupidly funny. Anyway, there is nothing wrong with not believing in God. That's on the person. So if Mobb Deep feels that way, again that's on them. But I question the idea of saying that 50 Cent saved them. It's one thing to be thankful to someone, but 50's not the kinda guy to be humble about that. He's got you under his thumb to do what he wants. And that 50 like Jesus, I'll believe it when I see it. Nobody had a problem when there was people who felt like Pac was their Jesus. Even your boy KRS said so Ted on the DVD, 2pac-4-ever. "He would be our Jesus, our Buddah, our Moses, etc." (he was referring to in today's society, as it relates to black people) And to address that diss song to Pac; come on, even Biggie is guilty of dissing Pac after he died. They could've dissed back out of mutual respect, even tho they portray that "I really hate that brotha". Then again, people know how to let petty stuff get to them. Look at the industry in recent years. I am a fan of Mobb Deep's, and I stand by that. I'm not gonna go passing judgement calls.
  11. Greatest MCs = ???. Somewhere is the lost definition of emcee. Commercially successful rappers is more like it. Everybody's listening party. I can understand why all of who was said. But I think their points are weak. And to say Bow Wow would be better is going a bit far. I don't find that funny one bit. No one artist has been "phenomeonal" for the "this year in Hip-Hop". It's been the genre and state of mind. It's a shame this was even put out, whether it ends up right or wrong.
  12. I actually think he'll go that tough guy route a bit more on his next album. I have a feeling he just might. There could be a mix of interesting stuff going on in the future.
  13. Can you recall anything else from the song at all?
  14. I was curious Schnazz, is this Cobra 2 like actual accounts of events or is this fiction? I'd probably never read something like that, but I'm still curious.
  15. I don't think Nastradamus was a bad album. It was just a different taste of what Nas could do. Same deal with Will Smith. Think, he was just a teen talking about how "Parents Just Don't Understand", now we've got a grown, parent asking "Tell Me Why", and talking about society's problems like many everyday people seem to do. It's a growing Will Smith. Not a stupid turned smart or a funny turned serious. Just a growing Will Smith. Even 50 Cent grows as an artist. It's not as evident or noteworthy to some people, but it's the truth. Even if it's "all about the money". It's 2006 and 50 Cent goes as far back as like '98-'99. I feel you Vipa on Jay-Z. He can speak fairly relevant and capturing detail in his lyrics, and for it to be top of the head makes it that much more props giving. Jay-Z has his select just like any other artist. On 'Reasonable Doubt', you hear his hunger. On 'The Black Album', you hear his maturity. Just because 50 or Jay-Z get props or respect from me, doesn't they're amongst favorites or even my selected greats. It's just the way different people exist in Hip Hop/Rap Music. I agree with AJ as never feeling Jay-Z as old school. Old school is probably classified as Hip Hop's beginnings. Like you said, it was different eras in Hip Hop. It's evident so even now.
  16. If that's the case, the whole forum should be locked down.
  17. To be quite honest, I don't see what all the negative fuss is about LL's album. I heard most of it and sounds like a righteous 2006 album. I keep thinking, maybe Def Jam is just doing him a favor becuz he put them on the map. I'm sure had LL gone anywhere else, he'd a had just as much success. And LL is just as right as he's ever been. Fans of hip hop should be interested in the middle age rapper, but not because of that very reason. There's people from our parents generation that still make music. If not new, they still perform what they've done. LL didn't slam Jay's comment. That's the media just trying for the ultimate attention. All he did was have a difference of opinion. Regardless, Jay-Z is still gonna get his lil piece of change outta LL for this album. This situation is not complicated. If your a fan of LL, get the album.Or at least check it out. All this teens and their bad rap music needs to quit too. They'll realize soon enough.
  18. I'm definately in the process of picking this album up. So far, I've liked what I've heard. Miles ahead of most stuff out now.
  19. thanks guys. I'll search around between all these for the best one for me.
  20. No violence in music, I'm surprise bigted, that you haven't brought to point about that KRS One "Criminal Minded" cover. The Teacha, Mr. Intelligent on all that is Hip Hop, is holding some type of sub-machine gun, is he not?
  21. All hail to the Chief...*hail to the chief* plays, coughing, I said, *hail to the chief* plays. I forget how that turn goes. Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
  22. I think the question you have to ask, is if anyone would do something like this? The closest thing we've had was "Continue The Rhyme" and a story telling rap that got totally flipped and messed up.
  23. Oh yeah, and two-second gaps. I can't have that. I'll look those ones up tho. Thanks. Appreciate anyone else's input.
