  1. Wasn't Detroit the murder capital city of America or something like that?
  2. Hey y'all. Here's another track for the Positive Hip Hop Mixtape that Lerk asked me to be a part of. Guy by the name of Big Press produced it. It's DJ Premier-ish, and I loved it. I just wrote around the actual beat title and came up with this. "Remember Me" I wanna be remembered, words uttered by so many brothaz Many lovers, those with an existing soul, unlike any other Is that the only way for life fulfillment? Higher Power goin thru lives like realism entertainment I appear to say the same sweet nothings Tryna come up so I can be a bit of somethin' Never dumpin' the thoughts to be a rapper, even after high school I am..., and now expand experience on how to use the right tools Gaining knowledge, represent by respondent Either free for self or a ruler's product A promising hypnotic, like sex, money, drugs, politics, religion We all get caught ignorant by the different divisions My decision is to follow none of that but in this habitat, I got no choice but swollow some of that So now, each phase clashes like bad friendships I go thru another day I don't wanna witness I get reminiscent, to find answers within my past for a better future, and avoid where the evils are stashed An unmasked classic, that should be placed up top It goes deeper than your category "Hip-Hop" CHORUS Remember me (3x), for the lines of rhymes, puttin' minds ahead of they time Remember me (3x), for being mixed, but wasn't fixed to fit in this society Remember me (3x), however you want to, cuz in exchange I'm thinkin of you I wanna be remembered... I'm about 5 years older brain-wise, 3 years younger in my youthness Losing my innocence, while society change shifts My intakes of breath, wasn't supposed to be so now I'm thinkin' I got reason for some kind of memories America's epidemics keep my rebel replinished and yet it's the same stuff that almost had my life ended I stay introverted, let little to be seen on purpose but then changes it up, wonder how you never heard of this in a place where sidewalks cracked, backs are stabbed, whispers are tracked Yeah, it goes further than the ghettos, it's everywhere on the map In the mind of millions, such an overrated feelin' Might meant to be a hero, but converted into a villain I'm careful with my affliates, make sure they got sense My plans ain't marked blueprints, they're subcategory "what if's" Each word is like a spliff, and only burn it if there's understanding And if not, then it's uncanny, you're about to lose the battle with the enemies Take these with you to capture your dream but don't enslave it, just mold it and shape it, and see if you can make it Let your mind be easily caressed before the death Knowing ya lived for yourself, but see I'm not you, I want my rememberance felt CHORUS ----------- The audio should be up on my myspace and soundclick come tomorrow, and the mixtape is suppose to be out by May. I'm also gonna put it on my album "Peace of Mind". Feedback and comments appreciated.
  3. Simple and fun, I like that. "Maaaan...I don't need huge muscles to posse, It's just the attitude, the style, the way u come across," - That's a cool opening.
  4. Brooke Hogan's on the comeup. lol. Daddy Hulk Hogan better watch his daughter around Paris. She's probably gonna sneak out to an imfamous party one weekend. You never know, he might cause a jumpoff for the typical blonde pop star.
  5. My brother gave me the latest Green Lantern mixtape to check out last night. To my surprise, I heard a very familar beat; JJFP "As We Go". As a whole, the cd is pretty nice. Anyway, here's the link. DJ Green Lantern feat. Dead Prez, Saigon, Immortal Technique, Just Blaze - "Impeach The President"
  6. JJFP - As We Go Hey Wes, it's actually "As We Go", but I'm uploading it as we speak anyway. Looks like I need to brush up on my JJFP. lol
  7. DJ Green Lantern feat. Dead Prez, Saigon, Immortal Technique, Just Blaze "Impreach The President" - Alive On Arrival (Mixtape) Surprised me, this song samples JJFP "Here We Go Again".
  8. DJ Green Lantern - Alive On Arrival (Mixtape)
  9. I unfortunately have too slow of a computer to really give it a "peep". But I liked the intro.
  10. "Yo, my lyrics in Spanish or enligsh can give slaps, I wanna go worldwide and hear all races claps," - Very powerful lines. I like that vision. I think with a song like this, being personal like that, the first thoughts are probably the best.
  11. I either don't believe a word Bow Wow says or know that he don't know what he's talking about. I'm going to paraphrase my dude Doug Funnie as he said to Roger Klotz. "If you were funny, you wouldn't have to laugh at your own jokes." Well, Bow Wow, if you were really any good, you wouldn't have to give yourself props. Now deal with that. He's a joke.
  12. "cause summertime aint fun if you alone" - ain't it the truth. Cool rhymes Jim.
  13. Busta Rhymes feat. DMX - Touch It (remix) VH1 called these two amongst some to be the "comeback kids". This is a legit song for 2006 I think. I love hearin' DMX again.
  14. Holler If Ya Hear Me: Searching for Tupac Shakur by Michael Eric Dyson I got my hands on the book again, after my mom misplaced it. I surely am gonna read it again.
  15. "But how much I loved you I never even knew" - I liked that line. "I lost the only thing that ever ment anything to me So all I can say is sorry, and I still love you baby" - Nice touch and end to the chorus. "Just like every other guy, and you're just like every other bitch" - I don't understand this one. If u gave reason for her receivin' the "B" label, I'd understand, but not when your so apologitic in the song. It could also be process of saying things u don't mean too. So whatever u take it for. There's extreme feeling behind the words, so that's a plus.
  16. "Things are getting harder because we can’t see it Trying to free it but at the end we could never be It Asking the lord forgiveness, we don’t know how to share Or even show a little love or some comfort, a bit of care That’s all I can bare, tell u now a tear goes down my cheek The answers we look for but the questions is what I seek" - This sounded extremly well altogether. "Remembering the days that Jay z was driving in may backs Wearing throwbacks talking to Nas how can u say that? In Africa they fighting for water, here we fighting for guns" - Quite honestly, this didn't draw me in to believe what you knew. Altho, it's probably right, something wouldn't let me actually "listen". It might just be me personally. "Girls who would sleep with u just to get some ice cream" - This was like, "uh, whoa, hmm". However I thought of Master P's "Mr. Ice Cream Man". If that's what U was referring to (in the same sense), then I get it. For a freestyle, this is quite good.
  17. Oh and btw Brakes, I have no doubt. Once that mic is in your hands and your on that stage or whatever, everything should kick in.
  18. I think UK rap is gettin bigger now, so you've got perfect timing Brakes. There was this thing on MTV about Garage and Gruge or something like that. And all these UK rappers were real fast. Faster than what we've heard from you too (but I know ur probably just holdin back on us.) U should do a track like that one time, where u rap ur absolute fastest. Plus, this dude named Gnarls Barkley, made #1 spot with like no promotion or something like that. I've got a very funny feeling about Da Brakes now.
  19. HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Much respect to ya man.
  20. I salute you. I wish you nothing but the best.
  21. Yeah, that is truly an insult. They need to go back to when Sesame Street incorporated "Rap" into their shows. Did they sell cds and end up bringing in numbers... I don't think so.
  22. I was just watchin some of Insider Edition for some reason. And Will came up about his award won at the Kids Choice Awards. Then they mentioned Jada in "Essence Magazine" on the cover. She is quoted as saying that before she met Will, "I was on drugs, drinking, and sleeping around". She claims Will saved her life. I thought this would a good piece of news to share with everybody.
  23. Talib Kweli - Work It Out (Instrumental)
  24. If this is such a positive reinforcement, where the heck was this attitude during the 106 & Park shows? Sure, ur a cue card reader, but what says you have to absolutely have to be? If anythng, I'm sure he didn't wanna criticize the audience for what they liked, even tho he probably wanted to. They could've gave the "against the grain" guests more respect due tho. Is he related to Sway Calloway from MTV, btw?
  25. It truly is a shame. I honestly don't understand the fascination with some artists, but yet it seems like more people see it so than not. Music just might become so commercial and widespread that it won't sell. It will truly be a matter of taste and one person or genre won't dominate. This might just actually be history repeating itself, but in a more detailed version. Jealous, greed, envy, bitterness, etc. All of this is destroying "ways of life". Ted, I understand your whole way of thinking, and you've gotta be sick of playing that race card. It's like, we don't want to be stupid and not open our eyes to "a truth", but we don't wanna be so stuck in our ways and exaggerate the situation. Too much credit, or not enuff. If whoever and whatever big organizations wanted to get rid of not just African Americans, but whatever different groups, they need to just do it now and all at once. I'm so fed up. The world will never be right. And that could make you question a lot of things. I sure do. G-Unit actually has been pretty quiet lately. I don't understand what's the difference between all the different hip hops that get explicit and those rated R movies that they put out. Kids still sneak into those theaters or snatch a DVD. Nowadays, they don't even have to. You can catch that stuff on regular tv. Another thing I don't understand is how these rappers say "I'm speakin for this group and putting out for them", when in fact, they don't have any such income to even afford a house, let alone a cd. So how can they hear you? All of these problems, whatever they are, will just keep going until the end of the world (if that will ever come). Now, back on focus, I wouldn't necessarily call "gangster rap"-reality rap. They exaggerate just as much another rapper doing a very creative song about something that's inanimate. Tupac denied making "gangster rap". He knew what it was, but not how it pertained to his own. I remember hearing him once reference it as "soul music". Obviously, "they" want to take rap music away entirely, because of what it seems to be made up as. G-Unit=gone, Paul Wall=gone, Nas =gone. Just the same, the ones they more than likely don't know about will be done as well. Dead Prez=gone, Talib Kweli=gone, KRS One=gone, etc. Would it really be the worse thing in the world never to hear THE "N" word again? Yeah yeah, freedom of speech. Go figure. It's funny that this actually comes up, becuz I was in lunch, and one guy said "For some business majors, we sure got some foul mouths." I was like "except me. I was just repeating what she said." Then he said "well, your a rapper." (Now what does that say? The stereotypical rapper is suppose to use foul language)
