W. Smith the fourth best selling rapper 2005
mfuqua23 replied to Frenetic's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
U know that's one thing U really don't see much of, even at all today. And that's female MCs. I think we need a couple new ones to hit the game. Missy does her thing, but to me it's just annoying. Eve is on her acting spot now. She's had some good songs tho. A new album would be a nice test, but she loves what she does, and shouldn't have to prove anything. Queen Latifah, if she were to come back out, she'd have to do a lil like Will. She couldn't reinvent and do what she did in her early career. Foxy Brown, she's just overlooked. Lil Kim, just hasn't been the same since BIG. And Lauryn Hill should just take THE mic back if she were to release another album. Of course she's alwayeds mixed rap wit singing. Basically we need new female faces. The reason we probably haven't is because their drive gets turned around by how they'll get treated. -
This is one track I'm gonna add to my JJFP rendition mixtape. --------------------------------------- May 15, 2004 (9:05 p.m.) - May 16, 2004 (12:11 a.m.) What do U learn wit emotion, contain power in the pen U holdin' Release thoughts to paper, nothing lost, nothing stolen Put in a place between lines, keep words confined Then the beat goes, U let it flow wit a rhyme At times feel like a sellout cuz U change the bars in every song, tellin who or what U R People, places, and things, whatever it is, it comes wit static Let it spit, but it's still one, subjects R not a habit of an artist's dreams and reality, dare to doubt U Wherever they've been, wouldn't be there without U Even cutted or transformed, a new body is born Grow from reproduction, nothing is ever mourned Get played in, like a fade-in, testin the competition Never avoid creativity, it's not like superstition Let it pave a new path, don't turn the other way Let music take it's course, a rapper turns like a DJ I'm the type of cut, that a DJ will play until the crowd becomes fickle and they're turnin' away Want to develop the times and keep the same rhyme or develop the rhyme and keep the same time They get blinded when it's rewinded, and hear it again No knowledge of music, where the hell have y'all been Ain't no friends in da fame, to them it's a game Play ya records like emotion, then fill em wit shame Can U be blamed for bein' bomb, them for holdin on That's ok, they don't know what they got until it's gone Could call it a theory, but it's been proven Minor set backs, but everything is still movin' Who was it then, Who is it now?, whose got the best style? The one that's makin money or the one that's movin the crowd Holdin the mic proud, the only 4ever is now Never forgettin', one continuation going around Mixin' and matchin, blendin' and scratchin' Somethin new arise, should U ask how it happened? No concern if it's played the right way U might say, a rapper turns like a DJ Anything out the ordinary that's rare, isn't compared Not even 2nd guessed, just gets bad stares Let it tear open a bright flame, enlighten the game Can't be tamed at the bottom, it was born 2 reign Style is not wishin, style is a mission Like a dart aimed for the bull's eye, concentration keeps it hittin' Want it then go get her, got her then don't quit her Nurture ya music on ya own, don't call a sitter Stay there if ya care, be here wit no fear See the eyes of what's real when U look in a mirror Sometimes music gets doubled like an echo They want more cuz they're not ready to let go Advance placement, not basic, how far should U take it? If they accept it, how far before they break it Maybe there's more to it, this rappin just how to do it This thing called the body and just how to move it If there was one way, there'd be no way for existence Variety is hard work, not expensive Lovin the feelin, listen to the record play A Rapper Turns Like A DJ

It's funny how it's going down now. U would think BET would blaze it back up. I sure hope the Live 8 does more (since Will will actually be performing)

Acoustica or Cool Edit Pro is good help.

So y'all got a problem wit my pop culture bits Challenge me to nail the bull's eye, and this verse the dart, it'll hit All the points I set were followed, now I'm my own leader Now I know how to battle right, I'm a winning streaker And U can at least see it, but illiterate, U can't read it So put the audios up, U can hear and believe it A high-risk achiever, that's what I've always been These battles the start of re-energizing, but this ain't at where begin Y'alls fate is sealed to adhesive tape that your too stupid to break At least ya safe, but don't think about it cuz I don't want ya to be in a bad state And Schnazz'll, wish he had my type of razel-dazel It's not magical, if ya willing to learn, U can have it too But I can't help U out none, U won't pay attention So serve a detention, after that ask for an extension It's a no go, no reason to show U how to flow Ridiculous, U need to try to learn something tho So U got into aerobics? On a diet and look great? Hmm, why R U rollin down the street at MPH of 108 And ya partner is just a simple sentence Can't tell me if it's in the the past, present, or future tenses Thought U would shine like discs and glitter, but no, ya just a b**** Next Halloween fly on da broom, don't stick it up ya butt, be a real witch U got ate up in this Final, U musta been a sandwich Next time, we need to face talents, cuz we don't want our title handed to us, damn, we flew thru em like it was rush hour They tried to stall, tried to run, but they can't even crawl Your lightyears from our skill, milleniums from a deal and as far as bein' fans of Will, they really lied to get in here And steal audios people took time to search, make, or upload Go be bums on someone else's forum, get out our humble aboad Don't even show ya faces behind the post Well then again, u really can't anyway cuz y'all just been blew to smoke

yeah, we missed him and Little Nicky.

I'm glad a bit of UNC alumni got picked this year. I didn't kno Marvin Williams was in it tho. I thought he was only a freshman. But, I missed the draft cuz I was watchin the BET awards.
-
Yes he did. That should be interesting. I guess T.I. is a respectable MC to Will.
-
And it will re-run many more times to come. Usually we hate reruns, but we watch FPOBA reruns and will do so wit these awards. :lolsign:

I think Lauryn's voice was going, so that's why she didn't do the end of the show. Her performance was rushed, but she slowed down and did a lil better wit "Killing Me Softly". It was just good to see the Fugees 2gether. I loved all of Will and Jada's segments. Will's lap dance was hilarious, seein the FPOBA cast again, Will talkin' about that experience overseas, just everything he did was great. I think that makes up for not performing. Gladys Knight was one of the best performances of the night. I really like John Legend and Stevie Wonder's also. I thought Stevie's solo performance was funny towards the end when he danced and posed. I liked how Game and Mary J. went together. Game had his son wit him, and I thought that was cool. And he did a lil freestyle to Mary, which was nice. Some award winners didn't make any sense because they had albums from last year or two years ago. (well my friend made the worst deal about it) Alicia Keys and Kanye West. Well, I almost never watched an entire award show. Even the commercials. I saw 50 Cent every time. And his movie aired once. It did catch mad interest wit the previews. So this will sell. Is this 50's life? ------ (right now) Interviewer asked Mike Jones about what Will said being role models... Well he talked decently. I couldn't follow him much. He didn't give Will props, but he didn't diss him either. It was all about Mike Jones. But who is Mike Jones? (:lolsign:)

Will urges rappers to become role models
mfuqua23 replied to *mimi*'s topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
U know what, I just noticed something. "Will urges rappers to become role models" It'd probably be better stated as positive role models, because no matter what, we are all role models to somebody out there. It may be for 5 seconds, it may be 5 years, it may be 5 lifetimes (ok a bit much). I remember my teacher made an example out of Charles Barkley. Barkley said he's not a role model for kids, so he can do whatever he wants (or something like that), but really (whether he likes it or not, he is). Same deal with Tupac comes to mind. He had the same attitude for a point. "I do whatever I like, I'm not a role model" - from 'Pac's Theme' (Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z...) That was taken from some interview excert I would imagine. So these rappers are role models to at least somebody. It's just a matter of them knowing it and doing something about it, may that be positive or negative. -

U’d get beat out by rhymes as simple as “The Cat In The Hat” I’m a tell ya the same thing, Dave Chappelle told Carson Daly, dude “Save ya money”, so U can pay the bill given by Dr. Suess

Will urges rappers to become role models
mfuqua23 replied to *mimi*'s topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Quite a bit jumped out at me with that article. Will said 'black Americans' are one of the highest things to the people he visited. And that all those gangster rappers don't realize what power they have. What I wonder, is that if they realize they have it, will they use it for something better and good and for their own damn self and continue to be greedy, ignorant, conceited, or whatever each one of them breaks down to be? And that "squeaky clean" remark is getting on my nerves. I guess if your an African-American and you rap, U just gotta be the one to say cuss words in your music. When rap was born, there was no standard that said you had to cuss. It's not a standard in anything else in life, so why does it apply to rap? I just don't understand that. I think this will be the greatest BET awards we'll see in a long time because of the positives and negatives going into this event. -
It's great to see Hip-Hop involved in such things. I definately wanna get that "The Psychology of Hip-Hop".

White Audience for Black Conscious Hip-Hop
mfuqua23 replied to Hero1's topic in Caught in the Middle
Why is it always "The Chronic" to get blamed for Hip-Hop/Rap taking an ugly turn? I thought Dre was his own man, and did his thing. It's just everybody's wanting to copy that. It ain't his fault. They have a mind of their own. It may be sheepish, but it's in there. The whole deal wit record labels tryna sign what will give them money. "Record labels is just signing anybody thinkin' it's goin be the next 50 Cents" - Dave Chappelle "Record labels still lookin for dey Pac" - The Game I mean, even if that's what they're lookin for; can't they see 'that guy just isn't it'. Wit the way labels are, they must not know nearly everything about Pac; enuff to the point to say 'This guy's our next Pac.' There can never be another. But they just don't seem to realize that, even after nearly a decade. -
That's Will for ya. Always reppin' Philly.
