A Fresh Prince of Bel Air board game is coming to turn your life upside down Summer, summer, summertime. Hang with DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince in an upcoming board game based on the beloved 1990s sitcom. DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince: Summertime is a quick card game inspired by the award winning 1991 song that was released alongside the Fresh Prince of Bel Air television show. In the tabletop game, players are invited to sit back and unwind with DJ Jazzy Jeff and the titular Fresh Prince at The Spot. However, an afternoon of relaxing and dancing is interrupted when the players are challenged to prove whether they are worthy of joining the rappers’ crew. In the game, two to four players take turns to play cards in order to gather the most cool points possible. Every round begins with the top card of the spot deck being revealed, before players choose a combination of energy and action cards from their hand - should they have a boost card, then players will be able to use those on top of what they play to gain more lighting bolts. When choosing an energy card, players will benefit from playing one that matches the vibe of the current spot. For example, the players will want to be maxin’ if the spot dictates this. Action cards can enable players to perform a certain action, as long as it is not cancelled by another player. Players place their action and energy cards facedown, before revealing them all at once. Certain actions will cancel others and provide the player with a benefit on top of that. For instance, a cruise card cancels groove cards and boosts the player’s chances of acquiring the current spot card. Once all actions have been played or cancelled, players compare how many lightning bolts they have collected via their energy and action cards, with the player holding the most lighting bolts taking the spot card. After eight rounds, players then total their cool points by checking the amounts on the spot cards they’ve collected, as well as adding any cool points gained by collecting the right combination of spot card types. Players can also get cool points by gathering spot cards with vibes that match those of their player character, whose identities will be revealed at the end of the game. Whichever player holds the most cool points is the winner. DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince: Summertime was co-created by Omari Akil and Hamu Dennis, who have both previously worked together on Rap Godz and Hoop Godz, with Akil designing the two games and Dennis creating the artwork for them. Wizkids is the publishing company responsible for releasing DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince: Summertime, a studio that’s otherwise most well known for launching tabletop titles such as the horror board game Fury of Dracula: Fourth Edition and the miniatures series Heroclix. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is a television series which aired between 1990 and 1996 starring Will Smith, James Avery and Janet Hubert-Whitten. In the show, Will Smith played a fictional version of himself as a teenager who is forced to live in the wealthy neighbourhood of Bel Air in Los Angeles, after being sent from West Philadelphia by his mother. The show, which ran for over six seasons, is best known for its catchy theme song, alongside the various other songs that were inspired by it. A reunion episode which reunited the original cast was released in November last year, with a reboot based on a fan film currently in development. DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince: Summertime is set to be released sometime “soon” at a retail price of $19.99 (£14). https://www.dicebreaker.com/amp/games/dj-jazzy-jeff-and-the-fresh-prince-summertime/news/fresh-prince-summertime-game-announced

'Independence Day' Director Says Will Smith Was Almost Rejected for Being Black The studio believed he wouldn’t appeal to foreign markets. Ahead of this year’s 4th of July celebrations, The Hollywood Reporterrevisited 20th Century Fox (now 20th Century Studios)’ ’90s sci-fi blockbuster Independence Day to mark the film’s 25th-anniversary. Sitting down with director Roland Emmerich and writer Dean Devlin, the outlet learned that studio executives were against casting Will Smith as Captain Steven Hiller. Despite already being a household name, the executives believed that Smith wouldn’t appeal to foreign audiences because he was Black. “The studio said, ‘No, we don’t like Will Smith. He’s unproven. He doesn’t work in international [markets]‘,” Emmerich said. “[Fox] said, ‘You cast a Black guy in this part, you’re going to kill foreign [box office],’” Devlin added. “Our argument was, ‘Well, the movie is about space aliens. It’s going to do fine foreign.’ It was a big war, and Roland really stood up for [Smith] – and we ultimately won that war.” Despite not necessarily being plausible, director Roland Emmerich threatened that if they were not able to secure stars Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum they would be taking the film over to Universal Studiosright before production was set to begin. https://hypebeast.com/2021/7/independence-day-director-will-smith-almost-rejected-black-info?utm_term=Autofeed&utm_campaign=facebook_post&utm_medium=social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwAR3DVArZYmxBHYM6lw3sxPZXFDV38eGyo5w5t3AZ6mPh5yqwFqzdeudjaao#Echobox=1625384636

https://willthebook.com Coming November 9 2021 One of the most dynamic and globally recognized entertainment forces of our time opens up fully about his life, in a brave and inspiring book that traces his learning curve to a place where outer success, inner happiness, and human connection are aligned. Along the way, Will tells the story in full of one of the most amazing rides through the worlds of music and film that anyone has ever had. Will Smith’s transformation from a fearful child in a tense West Philadelphia home to one of the biggest rap stars of his era and then one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood history, with a string of box office successes that will likely never be broken, is an epic tale of inner transformation and outer triumph, and Will tells it astonishingly well. But it's only half the story. Will Smith thought, with good reason, that he had won at life: not only was his own success unparalleled, his whole family was at the pinnacle of the entertainment world. Only they didn't see it that way: they felt more like star performers in his circus, a seven-days-a-week job they hadn't signed up for. It turned out Will Smith's education wasn't nearly over. This memoir is the product of a profound journey of self-knowledge, a reckoning with all that your will can get you and all that it can leave behind. Written with the help of Mark Manson, author of the multi-million-copy bestseller The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, Will is the story of how one person mastered his own emotions, written in a way that can help everyone else do the same. Few of us will know the pressure of performing on the world's biggest stages for the highest of stakes, but we can all understand that the fuel that works for one stage of our journey might have to be changed if we want to make it all the way home. The combination of genuine wisdom of universal value and a life story that is preposterously entertaining, even astonishing, puts Will the book, like its author, in a category by itself. “It’s easy to maneuver the material world once you have conquered your own mind. I believe that. Once you've learned the terrain of your own mind, every experience, every emotion, every circumstance, whether positive or negative, simply propels you forward, to greater growth and greater experience. That is true will. To move forward in spite of anything. And to move forward in a way that brings others with you, rather than leave them behind.” —Will Smith

Rakim Details Connection To DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince’s “Summertime” DX: I recently heard Eric B. on The Combat Jack Show state that the beat to DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince’s classic “Summertime” song was originally slated for you. Can you verify that? Rakim: Nah, it was ironic that me and Eric B. had sampled it, and we had it ready to go. But when they came out with it, a lot of people thought it was me because of the style he used. But it was one of those things where that was them. I didn’t write it. That was Will and Jeff. DX: But Eric stated that he had crafted the beat for you, but some industry people and friends who heard it before it came out were in your ear telling you that the beat was somewhat soft and out of character for you. Is there any validity to that? Rakim: Umm, yeah. It was something he had on the backburner, nahmean? Again, it was something that we wanted to use, but we felt that the time wasn’t right because of the choice of all the records that we had on the first album. But that’s a joint that you can’t deny. You know, maybe it could’ve been hooked up a little more street-ready, and it was something that we thought was a hit record. But we didn’t want to come out and grasp on that first album. We was trying to ease back on that. Source: https://hiphopdx.com/interviews/id.2937/title.rakim-tackles-paid-in-full-will-smith-mafioso-rap

Hey Cookies! It’s been a long time. Seeing your name on the forum again brings back a lot of good memories. So sad to hear about your sister. My deepest sympathies to you and your family. Times have changed. I’m a father now. A baby girl. I became a member here when I was still a teenager. Time flies.

I wonder if we will ever hear those songs... like a “Lost Tapes” kind of album like Nas did. I miss the old days of reading all the new posts on here. I remember checking this board even when I was on holiday. Tried to go to an internet-cafe or a library just to log in and read all the latest news. How times have changed.
-
Yeah I sometimes do the same thing. Search and read old posts and topics. This board has always been like a second home to me. I started posting here when I was still in high school. I’m 35 years old now and have a daughter now. Crazy how time flies. I check the board daily and try to post as much as I can. It’s just not the same. No new music, not much news.

Alfonso Riberio Says ‘Bel-Air’ is ‘Not Even Based’ on the Original ‘Fresh Prince’: ‘It’s Based on the Theme Song’ “It’s not even based on the show. It’s based on the theme song. It’s a completely different thing. It’s drama. It’s not comedy. I have nothing to do with it so I don’t really know anything more,” he continued. “But I actually appreciate it even more than a reboot. Let’s take a concept and turn it into a different show.” Ribeiro played Will Smith’s polar-opposite cousin Carlton in the series that ran from 1990 to 1996. In September 2020, Smith and the cast announced that NBC’s Peacock streaming service gave them a deal with a two-season order of a reimagined version of The Fresh Prince. The new series is based on Morgan Cooper’s Fresh Prince mock trailer. The clip went viral prompting Smith and his team to create a concept set in modern-day Bel-Air. “Set in modern-day America, BEL-AIR is a serialized one-hour dramatic analogue of the 90’s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that leans into the original premise: Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air,” a release from Peacock said at the time. “With a reimagined vision, BEL-AIR will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions, and biases that were impossible to fully explore in a 30-minute sitcom format, while still delivering swagger and nods to the original show.” source: https://www.complex.com/pop-culture/alfonso-ribeiro-new-fresh-prince-of-bel-air-reimagining

Rock The House was released on April 7, 1987. That makes the first JJFP album 34 years old. How has the album aged in your opinion?

I still need to start watching and if I have to believe Rotten Tomatoes I better start as soon as possible. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/amend_the_fight_for_america/s01

Yeah, I have been listening to his music a lot lately. He's still my favorite rapper ever but I can't cope with all the social media stuff he does.
-
I feel you on that one. I have a hard time listening to some songs where he mentions Jada or his relationship. Still, I hope the book will be about his life, music and movies and not just some inspirational bull****.

Working with Hollywood actor Will Smith on his self-help/memoir book In 2018, Hollywood actor Will Smith took to social media to announce he began working on his first book, a self-help/memoir. To help him write his book, Will reached out to Mark Manson, the bestselling author of two self-help books for people who hate self-help books. Will Smith Takes on Fast & Loose Crime Boss Thriller from Deadpool 2 Director Will Smith will play a crime boss in a new action thriller from Deadpool 2 and Hobbs And Shaw director David Leitch. Will Smith has been attached to a new project that will see him playing a crime lord. The film, titled Fast & Loose, is a drama that has Deadpool 2 and Hobbs & Shaw director David Leitch attached to helm the project. According to Deadline, a fierce bidding war is currently taking place between all the major Hollywood studios to snap up the rights to the planned movie. The logline for the project can be read below. "After the leader of an upper-echelon criminal organization suffers memory loss from an attack, he reunites with his crew, only to find that things aren't what he thinks they are. When John Riley (Will Smith) wakes up in Tijuana after being left for dead with absolutely no memory, he follows a string of clues to uncover his identity discovering he's been living two different lives: one, as a super-successful crime kingpin, surrounded by beautiful women, expensive toys, and a lavish lifestyle and the other as an undercover CIA agent, but with a puny salary, no family or home life whatsoever, and zero trappings of success. The problem is, he can't remember which of these two personas is his true identity, and, more importantly, which life he really wants to live." While the premise of the movie can make for a grounded, serious drama, along the lines of The Bourne Identity or Memento, David Leitch is known for injecting loads of style and flourish into his movies, which include Atomic Blonde and John Wick. Leitch is also noted for being able to use the natural charisma of his leading actors to create memorable characters. So a team-up between him and Will Smith feels like a match made in heaven. While Smith made his name in the 90s playing heroic roles, lately he has been leaning more into gray or anti-hero portrayals, such as the drunk and depressed superhero Hancock, the supervillain Deadshot, or an assassin in Gemini Man. Still, even the evilest roles manage to somehow become sympathetic characters in Smith's hands, and that is probably going to happen in Fast and Loose as well. One thing that the movie will doubtless feature is amazing action scenes. Leitch has proven he knows how to create an action sequence that feels real, even when it is taking place between an immortal assassin like Deadpool and a cybernetic warrior from the future like Cable. Leitch's fondness for injecting humor into his stories should also find a great use for Smith's excellent comic timing. Before the actor jumps into Fast and Loose, however, Smith will be seen in his next star vehicle where he teams with filmmaker Antoine Fuqua in the runaway slave drama Emancipation that is being produced by Apple. The movie will scratch a particular itch for Smith since he turned down the leading role in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained because the actor could not see eye-to-eye with Tarantino over the "vengeance" theme of the film. This comes from Deadline. source: https://movieweb.com/fast-and-loose-will-smith-director-david-leitch/?fbclid=IwAR3K95rr9CxXklmPejDrY5N8EqpP9opDg_pzhkUCfA1G7o97m80-ty9NK4A
