a cool little feature, I didn't notice it was him at first. he's Will's manager and business partner for anyone who doesn't know. http://www.blackvoices.com/blogs/2008/02/1...ouble-exposure/ I think it's cool he's getting some recognition, and that they're honoring Jada too. :wickedwisdom:

Kool Herc Calls On Will Smith and Queen Latifah
MissAshley replied to bigted's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
:yeahthat: I swear I was thinking the exact same thing; about the Queen to some extent as well. I think it's interesting their names came up. -

Yesterday, the NAACP Image Awards nominations were announced and 'The Great Debaters' led the pack with multiple nominations, but there were several omissions that make me question the voters and the politics that come into play when it comes to awards and sponsorships and ratings. Having seen 'Debaters' as well as EVERY other film, I can't see how Forest Whitaker ended up with a nomination! He was good, but he gave a better performance in 'Even Money'. Marcus Carl Franklin should have taken his spot for he was amazing in 'I'm Not There'. Congrats on Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? for getting noms for Tyler Perry, Jill Scott, and Janet Jackson, BUT how in the world was Tasha Smith left off the list when she clearly stole and made the picture worth seeing. The most glaring nomination went to 'A Mighty Heart' and its star Angelina Jolie. Here's a film that was good and well received, BUT received some controversy for casting Joliie in a role that should have gone to a Black actress. There's no question that there are never enough leading roles for Black actresses, and 3 of the 5 nominees (Jurnee Smollett, Jill Scott, and Taraji Henson) played SUPPORTING roles, NOT leading. As far as the documentaries nominated, all were good except that 'Bastards of the Party' was only seen on TV (HBO). It didn't even make it to the theaters. Did anyone see 'War/Dance'? That film is about three African children living in a displacement camp in northern Uganda who decide to compete in their country's national music and dance festival. I hate to nitpick here and there about the nominating process and who was snubbed, but some of these folks and projects need to be recognized for the work they did and when the NAACP doesn't do so, who else will will? Again, congrats on those who made the cut. P.S Unless I'm wrong, and I hope so, don't bet against 'The Great Debaters'. Look for Oprah in the house! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MOTION PICTURE CATEGORIES Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture • Columbus Short – “Stomp The Yard” (Screen Gems) • Denzel Washington – “The Great Debaters” (The Weinstein Co.) • Don Cheadle – “Talk To Me” (Focus Features) • Terrence Howard – “Pride” (Lionsgate Films) • Will Smith – “I Am Legend” (Warner Bros.) after that whole Hitler debacle, I'm even less inclined to believe anything I read about Will (or many other celebs) in some random gossip article. No matter how "credible" the source is, the reporter may not be.....Hancock wrapped how long ago, and this is coming out now? as far as I'm concerned this article (true or not) is extremely irrelevent, it was printed for controversial purposes, it's not about Will possibly being a Scientologist, it's more about people wishing/hoping he is, something that'll tarnish his "likeable" image.
-
It's laughable that this topic is still being debated, but I guess basic comprehension isn't high on everyone's list of priorities.
-
no problem. I too thought it was interesting how the original source article disappeared, that in itself speaks volumes.
-
I can tell you now I'm not about to go back and forth with you like a lot of other people here have, that being said; that's not the whole world, FYI, that's one of the top gossip blogs on the internet...ask yourself what Barack Obama has to do with any of this? anyway I digress, y'all have a happy holiday season. :sipread:

Did they just take the news back ? It says access denied. I guess the editor got too much negative feedback and had to take it down. probably worried about getting sued. I couldn't agree with what this guy says more though: http://journals.aol.com/dpoem/TheWisdomofa...ng-hit-job/1309

The Final I Am Legend Box Office Report + DVD Sales
MissAshley replied to TopDawg14's topic in Will Smith Movies
I read that the pirated dvd version is out, so I imagine a lot of people are seeing it that way as well. imo with a film like this you have to see it in theaters to get the full experience. -
exactly. Will's just such a likeable guy that people try to find something wrong he says or does to kill his "celebrity". something I thought was kinda funny, Jada did an interview with Redbook talking about how her great-great-grandfather was Jewish and that was a huge factor in their visit to the Wailing Wall a couple summers ago, that she wanted to go and touch a part of her history...the press went crazy when they went to Jerusalem. I want to hear his opinions on the media taking his statements outta context though, that'd be interesting.
-
at what point did he say "Hitler was a good person" ?...he didn't. just like he didn't say Willow wants to be Paris Hilton. :shakehead: seriously, people need to stop printing what they wanna print and hearing what they wanna hear. it never ceases to amaze me how far people will go for bad press these days. original source? page six. need I say more? http://www.pagesix.com/story/will+smith+hi...was+good+person
-
uh, no. don't worry guys mediatakeout is FOS. they got this from a red carpet interview of Willow at the Legend premiere saying she wanted them to do one, which Jada vetoed about 30 seconds later. lol. here's the vid: http://video.accesshollywood.com/player/?id=0#videoid=194680

Jada's directing a movie right now. I thought that was funny with the dog too, esp. after he was talking about how much he loved her.

True 'Legend' Will Smith Immortalized In Hollywood HOLLYWOOD (CBS) ― Days before the release of his latest film "I Am Legend," rapper-turned-actor Will Smith sank his hands and feet into the cement in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre Monday in Hollywood. The two-time Oscar nominee shook hands with fans and posed for photos when he arrived on Hollywood Boulevard for the ceremony that immortalized him among Hollywood's elite. In "I Am Legend," scheduled for release Friday, the 39-year-old Philadelphia native portrays scientist Robert Neville, who finds himself alone on Earth thanks to a virus that destroys most of the world's population, except for some survivors who have become horribly mutated. Using his own immune blood, Neville tries to concoct a way to reverse the effects of the virus. "This one is special," Smith told KCAL9 about the movie shortly after the Grauman's ceremony. "We made a really aggressive attempt at a different type of movie, so I'm anxious to see how people respond to it." Smith first rose to prominence as rap singer The Fresh Prince, a name that later became known to television audiences when Smith starred in the comedy series "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." But he quickly became box office gold thanks to starring turns in films such as "Bad Boys," "Independence Day" and "Men in Black." He earned Oscar nominations for his work in "Ali" and "The Pursuit of Happyness," a film that also featured his son, Jaden. Smith will next appear as a down-and-out superhero in "Hancock," alongside Charlize Theron. http://cbs2.com/entertainment/Will.Smith.H...d.2.607913.html video on that page^ http://www.accesshollywood.com/news/ah7717.shtml pics can be seen here: http://www.gettyimages.com/Search/Search.a...ventId=78132334 http://www.abacausa.com/ximagi/search.php?...gnment_id=40765

that's pretty interesting, I heard something similar in reference to a Golden Globe nom a few weeks back about Will's performance.
