  2. Thursday, January 19, 2006 CHRIS ROCK AND WILL SMITH TO DIRECT EPISODES OF THEIR RESPECTIVE UPN SERIES, "EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS" AND "ALL OF US" Released by UPN CHRIS ROCK AND WILL SMITH TO DIRECT EPISODES OF THEIR RESPECTIVE UPN SERIES, "EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS" AND "ALL OF US" Executive producers Chris Rock and Will Smith will direct episodes of their respective UPN series, EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS and ALL OF US, which will air later this season on UPN. In the Chris Rock directed episode of EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS entitled "Everybody Hates Corleone," Chris grows tired of getting beat up by bullies at school, so he asks his parents to be transferred to the neighborhood school, but when they deny the request, he decides to take matters into his own hands. Meanwhile, Julius' new job at the fish market makes him stink up the house and everyone in it. In the Will Smith directed episode of ALL OF US, Bobby says the "N" word at a birthday party, and it forces Robert to examine his own use of the term and whether or not it's appropriate. Inspired by his childhood experiences, comedian Chris Rock narrates EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS, the hilarious, touching story of a teenager growing up as the eldest of three children in Brooklyn, New York during the early 1980's. Uprooted to a new neighborhood and bused to a predominantly white middle school two-hours away by his strict, hard-working parents, Chris struggles to find his place while keeping his siblings in line at home and surmounting the challenges of junior high. This responsible, resilient adolescent brings a distinct, funny spin to his everyday trials and traumas. In its third season, ALL OF US, the series inspired by the domestic adventures of entertainment superstars Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, reflects a new generation's enlightened attitude toward juggling ex-spouses, dating and professional lives with humor, sensitivity and heart. source via google: http://www.thefutoncritic.com/cgi/pr.cgi?id=20060119upn02

I figured she'd get a nod, but I didn't get a look @ all the noms, she'll probably get it for the book though, it sold really well, and it's pretty cool...congrats to both of them, i hope Will wins but Hitch is up against a couple tough dramas so i see people leaning towards Hustle and Flow, but i'm proud of the Smiths work just the same
  5. after he says ""i'mma start it over and give you the reasons" and his friends hopping on and off the table working out... the scene changes and he's sitting in a room with a boy holding a notebook, i'm pretty sure it's kyle cuz i've gotten so used to seeing him @ events with Will and Jada...looks like he was rapping in the shot...this song gets better everytime i hear it

  10. here's a quote from Will: "When I hit the ball, stay on me. Stay on me," said actor Will Smith. "I'm gonna make a good pose no matter where the ball goes. So don't follow the ball. Stay on me. I'm gonna give you the good pose. I'm gonna give you the good look and all of that. It'll be a great shot. Don't go to where the ball goes, 'cause I have no clue where the ball's actually going." "What happens if the ball doesn't go where you want?" KGMB9 asked. "I'm gonna still make a good pose. I'm an actor," Smith quipped. Actor Will Smith provided the laughs at today's Sony Open Pro Am and tomorrow Michelle Wie will provide the drama. She's looking to make the cut at a men's event for the first time in seven tries. source via google: http://kgmb9.com/kgmb/display.cfm?storyID=7004&sid=1183

  14. Racial drama 'Crash' leads Image Award nominations Tuesday, January 10, 2006 8:26:48 PM ET By Steve Gorman LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Racial drama "Crash," already shaping up as a major contender for the Oscars, led the films nominated on Tuesday by the nation's largest civil rights group, the NAACP, for its annual Image Awards. "Crash" and members of its multiracial ensemble cast garnered six nominations in all, including one for best film. Four of the NAACP's five nominations for best supporting actor went to "Crash" co-stars Don Cheadle, Terrence Howard, Larenz Tate and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges. Thandie Newton landed a nod for best supporting actress in the film. Hip-hop drama "Hustle & Flow," about a pimp's efforts to break into the music business, was the second-most nominated film, garnering nods for best film and four more for its cast members, including Howard as best actor. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the nation's oldest civil rights organization, has presented its Image Awards since 1962 to honor positive portrayals of blacks and other minorities in the media. While not seen as a bellwether for Oscar competition, the Image Awards help raise the profile of films they recognize during Hollywood's movie-award season. "Crash," which explores ethnic and racial tensions that ripple through American society, marks the directorial feature debut of Paul Haggis, the screenwriter behind last year's big Oscar winner, boxing film "Million Dollar Baby." "Crash," a low-budget film, debuted in May of 2005 and grossed a modest $53 million at the North American box office. After being mostly overlooked in this year's Oscar race, "Crash" has gained some unexpected steam in the recent flurry of film critics awards and film industry honors leading up to the January 31 nominations for the Academy Awards. The film earned Critics Choice Awards on Monday night for its screenplay, co-written by Haggis, and for its ensemble cast. Last week, Haggis picked up a prestigious Directors Guild of America nomination for his work on the film, as well as a Writers Guild of America nomination for the screenplay. The film also garnered three nominations from the Screen Actors Guild and a nod for best picture from the Producers Guild of America. The sudden surge in recognition has led some to predict that "Crash," will emerge as a major rival of critical darling "Brokeback Mountain" in the battle for a best picture Oscar. Other films nominated for best picture by the NAACP were high school basketball saga "Coach Carter," romantic comedy "Hitch" and "Diary of a Mad Black Woman." All three, like "Hustle & Flow," also scored acting nods for their male leads -- Will Smith for "Hitch," Samuel L. Jackson for "Coach Carter" and Shemar Moore for "Diary." In addition, the filmmaker behind "Coach Carter," Thomas Carter, was nominated for best movie director, along with John Singleton for "Four Brothers," Malcolm Lee for "Roll Bounce" and Tim Story for "Fantastic Four." The 37th annual Image Awards will be presented in Los Angeles on February 25 in a ceremony that airs March 3 on Fox. source via google: http://www.metronews.ca/reuters_entertainment.asp?id=121232
  15. well if anybody deserves a break it's Will, and it's only fair that Jada gets to achieve some goals as well. I'm def. not upset by his choice, I mean who can hate on a man that wants to be with his wife and kids? I would be kinda disappointed if nothing more came of Lost & Found...but i've read that quote from a few different sources and it does seem like he was referring to his film career
  16. that was the truth...sounded like a lot of REAL JJFP fans here
  17. NEWS Will Smith to take the back seat? Staff reporter Wed, 04 Jan 2006 Hollywood actor Will Smith reportedly wants his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith to take over as the main 'breadwinner' so that he can take a break. According to IMDb.com ,the 37-year-old 'Hitch' star insists that now that their children Jaden (7) and Willow (3) are growing up, his wife can take up more acting and singing with her band Wicked Wisdom so that he can sit back and relax. "Now that she isn't breastfeeding, I'll probably work less in order for her to work a little more!" Smith reportedly said. source: http://entertainment.iafrica.com/news/761764.htm i hope he means less acting, (since he's got a couple films lined up) and getting more into music, cuz it's kinda sad that Jada's doing more musically than he is, when music is his first love and acting is hers...i'm patiently waiting for "Tell Me Why" after their vacation...i mean what else is there to do if his next film shooting doesn't begin 'til summer?...and Willow's five, they just hacked a couple years off her life
  18. Will Smith says he's grateful to Nelson Mandela Thursday, December 29 2005, 20:26 GMT -- by Miriam Zendle Will Smith says he credits Nelson Mandela with his success, as he believes he has been inspired by him. Smith, who gained an Oscar nomination for his role as Muhammad Ali in 2001's Ali, had been planning to make "serious, moral" films after his success with the role, but changed his mind thanks to Mandela, according to Teen Hollywood. He explained: "I was all excited about telling him I only wanted to make movies that would change the world. He told me that for the 27 years he was in prison he got so much pleasure out of the one movie they sent every six months that made him laugh and helped him escape for a few hours from the hopelessness. That really inspired me to know that what I was doing in those other movies was not a bad thing." source:http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds27729.html
