I agree that focus should be equal on all fronts of this, but people say don't make it about class, don't make it about race, and honestly it's hard not to, when majority, NOT ALL of the faces you're seeing are poor Afr. Americans, of course people are gonna be pissed, but i've been watching TV constantly and i've seen poor people white and black so yes race shouldn't be a huge focus b/c you know what? none of those people have ANYthing left regardless of race or class. As far as the military on some part, yes it is necessary b/c the crime rate just skyrocketed, but for you to roll into town with guns drawn? damn, wait until you see somebody doing something first! i saw a man running down the damn street with a TV! a TV! there's no power, what the hell you doin' with a tv? but i saw a man stealing matresses for his family to sleep on b/c they'd been on the concrete for 4 days starving, watching people die, babies included, and i can't fault people for still being there, b/c 1. they weren't anticipating such a huge storm, 2. the weren't anticipating the break in the levee (the citizens @ least) 3. if you have no money, how the hell are you supposed to leave? it's not like they were chartering the public transportation buses or anything like that as far as Bush yeah you can't blame it all on him, but i'm more upset by the time more than anything, i could care less whether or not he likes Black people, i have my own personal opinions of him, but it's hard to think of how serious he's taking things when Condeleeza Rice is on a f**king vacation! what is that? anyway this could be an ongoing thing, but my point is that personally i wasn't trying to make it a "race thing" I'm pissed @ Bush for taking his time

What's your favorite Tatyana Ali song?
MissAshley replied to PeaceAngel's topic in Caught in the Middle
gosh, it's been so long since i've listened to it, gotta go dig it out! umm, Boy You Knock Me Out and Daydreamin' were always on repeat, but it's the latter for me cuz i was kinda crushin' on somebody @ the time lol -
thnx for that link, i actually wasn't watching too much tv today, so i hadn't heard about it. I also read some people's reactions to it, he was just saying what a lot of people were thinking, people are saying it wasn't appropriate b/c it was a show to raise money, yeah maybe he could've picked a better time and place, but it's not so much when he said it but what he said...hey, the truth hurts. I for one can't stand Bush(call me "unamerican" if you will, i don't care) and i'll be glad when he's gone, unfortunately we're stuck with his a** for four more years, i agree completely with what Kanye said, don't bite your tongue baby! people have been sitting down there for days! just dying! what the hell is taking so long?! you mean to tell me you can go almost a world away to fight a war but it's taking you this long to evacuate a city that's right at home? be for real! sorry, i just get kinda riled up about this type of stuff because honestly there's no excuse for it, it makes no sense at all :worried:

:word: You are right Da Brakes! ← well said brakes.. I cant believe the hating this video is getting.. Yes I would have rather had dj jazzy jeff there instead of a fake jazzy jeff..yes I would have rather them focus on wills 3rd verse and what hes saying.. yes I could have done without the rock and line dancing scenes.. But how can you ignore the incredible special efx in this video.. the amazing transitions, the little things.. classic fresh prince humurous girlie action.. the energy!! how good is each frame in that 2nd verse!..the way they change the dancers in the background.. the way the background reacts to what Wills doin..the incredible colors!!! maybe when people watch the video a few times like me they'll notice how good it is... ← i think i have to watch it more, but i wouldn't give it anything less than a nine, something was just a little off to me, besides Jeff not being in it and now that people are mentioning it, the third verse, but i blame that on the director/editor lol...the line dancing didn't get to me so much i just thought he looked silly but that was more of the "Fresh Prince" I was seeing when he did that..i guess he just looked like he was more into it, and they didn't play the right version for him to rap to, b/c if you watch his face as the lyrics are playing, he's REALLY into it, but the version of the song seems too soft or something, i don't know maybe it seems like that b/c it's still on the pc and not on tv yet
-
I love the special effects how he goes from one scene to another, don't too much care for the rock part, only b/c it looks like he's mouthing his words harder than they're coming out. And b/c of the effects in a lot of it he's essentially standing in the same spot (and he can't dance LOL). i think he looks silly towards the end of it, and not really b/c of the line dancing ( thought that was Will just being silly Will) but something about it looks kinda goofy...overall i like it though and i like the wardrobe changes with every scene, i'll probably like it even more as i watch it over, and over, and over lol *biggest dislike: THAT DAMN DJ WASN'T JEFF! could I be more critical? lol anyway that's my piece

i think there's just a bunch of tentative dates swirling around, maybe it comes out in Dec. in certain countries or something b/c I saw a listing for July 31, 2005 <---- but it was listed under the year 2006 so i figured it's a typo or something, it makes more sense to come out in July anyway, it's never taken this long for a movie that wasn't @ least part of a trilogy or something, but i guess we'll find out more as the movie progresses
-
wow, i hope that's subject to change b/c that seems like an awfully long time, i wonder if that means he'll go straight into Time Share when shooting on this one finishes? preproduction/ filming is scheduled for august through november, so i wonder why post production would take almost a year? kinda weird, thnx for the news
-
i can't really explain it either but i took it mean that food is in abundance in certain places, and in other places people are starving to death...I don't know what "rice under Budda Lazy" means but I'm guessing that there's LOTS of something there, but we have even more stores and people are going without food...i don't know if i'm making sense, so i'll stop lol

I've been watching the news constantly for the past few days and to say this is devastating, is an understatement, it's almost depressing just looking at some of the images of the "aftermath of Katrina" i've never seen anything like this, as far as storms, i have relatives from both sides of my family in the south and i was blessed in the sense that they weren't affected by it, but it's def. been on my mind non stop, it's almost as if prayer isn't enough, and sadly it's times like this that help me more as a writer, when i vent or express myself through words, i just hope that those people get the help that they so desperately need

didn't see this posted anywhere, sorry if i'm double posting Kanye West Files A Lawsuit August 30, 2005 Music star KANYE WEST filed a $1.3 million lawsuit Monday against a Chicago DJ. In the federal court suit, the award-winning rapper claims the disc jockey, ERIC "E-SMOOVE" MILLER, wrongly tried to distribute some unreleased songs he had helped West produce before the hip-hop star became famous. Attorneys for West claim that Miller used a counterfeit contract forged with West's signature earlier this year, in an alleged attempt to sell the recordings to prospective buyers. So far, there has been no official comment from Miller or his representation. http://et.tv.yahoo.com/newslink/index.html#l5 the music biz is extremely shady, but hey i've known that for years, people just don't respect the art of it anymore, "if it ain't one thing it's another"

this is by far some of the dumbest **** I've ever heard, aren't there more serious things to focus on in the classroom? MSNBC Updated: 3:32 p.m. ET Aug. 30, 2005 As children throughout the country head back to school, many of them are probably muttering a few choice words about the prospect of returning to the classroom and the expected onslaught of homework. But can they utter those choice words and swear at their teachers? If they’re heading back to school in one town in England, then yes, they can. According to a report in the U.K.’s Daily Mail, one school in the town of Wellingborough is allowing pupils to swear at teachers, providing they only do so no more than five times in a class. A tally of how many times the f-word is used will be kept and if the class exceeds the limit, they will be “spoken” to, the newspaper reported. The school believes the policy will improve behavior, but parents and parliamentary members have condemned the rule and warned it would backfire. According to the Daily Mail, assistant headmaster Richard White said the policy was aimed at 15- and 16-year-olds in two classes which are considered troublesome. "Within each lesson the teacher will initially tolerate (although not condone) the use of the f-word (or derivatives) five times and these will be tallied on the board so all students can see the running score," the Daily Mail quoted White as writing in a letter. "Over this number the class will be spoken to by the teacher at the end of the lesson." According to the report, headmaster Alan Large said he had received no complaints about the policy. But Conservative member of parliament Ann Widdecombe said the policy was based on “Alice in Wonderland reasoning,” the Daily Mail reported. “What next? Do we allow people to speed five times or burgle five times? You don't improve something by allowing it, you improve something by discouraging it,” Widdecombe was quoted as saying. The newspaper also reported that the 1,130-pupil school plans to send “praise postcards” to the parents of children who do not swear and who turn up on time for lessons. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9132814/ --------------------------------------------------- and i thought Chicago Public Schools were bad, at least you'd still get in trouble for something like this :nhawong:

:word: couldn't have said it better myself Max, but i gotta vent and give it a try in my mind I'm wondering when two A/B-list black actors will star opposite e/o in a huge blockbuster as love interests, I mean no offense to Eva Mendes or any other hispanic actors, but couldn't Sara have been African American and the movie been just as successful?. But i understand that the way for minorities to go mainstream is usually cast opposite white actors, it's always a struggle, esp. for females b/c they always want them to play "girlfriend" or "baby momma" roles as Max said.I hate that "hollywood" tries to cast hispanic females as the love interests of black and white men as if there aren't any hispanic males out there vying for a chance, i think latino and asian films are hugely underrated in hollywood but again it depends on the type of movie and what the director's looking for, i kinda took offense to the statement as a black female b/c i don't see anybody going "damn when's Halle Berry gonna be in a movie opposite Brad Pitt or Jude Law?" can't a black man be in a movie opposite a black woman, the same way white actors do it? But again it depends on the film and typecasting is a huge thing in hollywood, so far most of Eva's mainstream movies have been opposite black actors: Denzel, Will, Ice Cube, Jennifer Lopez, gets cast opposite white actors:....coincidence? probably not b/c they figure if they don't cast a black female they'll get a latino female and that's ok, that's their version of diversity.i guess what i'm trying to say is that every once in a while it's nice to see something familiar, and race is always a touchy subject but in this case it doesn't matter b/c if they're casting a black actress for a part based on a true story it's b/c she's really black, but i see nothing wrong with interracial couples onscreen if that's the focus of the movie, anyway it's an ongoing thing like Max said and I do see some progress being made ok, that's my piece....and i can't wait for this movie lol

THE PARTY CAN START LATER...

The BET Awards, gave us Will and Jada Pinkett Smith as hosts of the BET Awards,a truly class act; something hip-hop could be proud of. BET takes some fall out from time to time for their music videos and some of the things that they do, but the BET Awards this year showed pure class. Turn the clock forward and the MTV VMA’s air, what a depressing site. Hours of an arrogant Diddy and some of the biggest waste of time that could have been aired. Not taking from any of the the artists because they all deserve to be there; but MTV has seen its days in the awards arena, unless it is because they tried to use hip-hop to sell an award show that covers many genres of music. Diddy made a point of saying he does things with class and so on and so on, in typical ‘Diddy’ style. Mid-way thru the show there was Biggie. No Tupac, no Big Pun, no Mac Dre. And to add insult to injury – Snoop doing a duet with Biggie. Sure some say Snoop is west but in recent years he has gone with the money and it is hard to tell where his loyalty lies; quite different than years gone by. The violence against Rap mogul and CEO of Death Row Records Suge Knight the night before could have been a reason to pull that segment with Biggie. Some main stream media outlets are already talking about a reemergence of the west coast - east coast ‘war’, and then Diddy makes sure that Biggie is rep’d at the MTV awards, just adds fuel to the fire. MTV should have recognized all or none. The MTV VMA’s are different than the BET awards but these awards are really nothing hip-hop should be involved in. One love would have been mentioning Biggie, Tupac, Eazy-E, Mac Dre, Big Pun and all the others that have been lost in the hip-hop culture. Highlights of the evening would be Missy Elliot, Jamie Foxx, Mariah Carey and Luda, other than that hip-hop should give their awards back to MTV and say thanks but no thanks. One mans opinion on a true waste of time. Next year MTV would do better to take time to find a host that perpetuates what hip-hop and music is really about if they want to go that way and use the hip-hop genre to ‘sell’ this award show.. Get a host that all the genres can relate to. Picking Diddy to get the hip-hop influence only worked for the younger kids because a lot of us didn’t fall for it and were very disappointed in the program. I would have changed the station but as I am in the hip-hop and rap arena I had to watch and it was painful – at least. It really feels that MTV used hip-hop to sell this program – but I guess hip-hop is being used by everybody now days to sell almost everything. *These are the views of staff member Westside, and do not necessarily reflect the views of this site or the other staff. http://www.thuglifearmy.com/news/?id=1844 ^makes some good points, there was too much "Diddy" he was trying too hard, I mean damn how much can you talk about yourself?

FINALLY! here's the second chapter, of the 3 part poem I'm doing, these def. aren't my best but it's the first time i've done something like this, so i'm just kinda getting a feel for it: link to part one: http://jazzyjefffreshprince.com/forum/inde...?showtopic=5087 Chapter Two: Sustaining My Strength Here I am again, awaiting the meeting with my destiny This experience is so surreal, that my mind preceeds the rest of me I perish the thought of glory that superceeds my skill Because if I can't stay humble, then I can't stay real So I step outside of self and take a glance in the mirror Visions of restless dreams, reflect and become clearer Through the smog I see, what was once called impossible When at first, I never had a chance, things now seem probable Everything is dog eat dog, it all fades into competiton My belief buoys with it, somewhere in between fact and fiction But I stand firm, grip my pen,and let the words fly And the end result always proves, that it was at least worth a try My effort pays off, and that's enough reward for me I'd rather not be blinded by success, but seated close where I can see- What awaits for me if I get better, and continue to give my all I'm standing in the line for Fate, and I hear my name being called I perspire as I anxiously await that special moment When chance lands in my hands, and I can say I own it I've come so far, yet there's so much left to do The real secret to success, is to just be true to you (to be continued with final chapter three) ash

Robert Horry: Ha-ha (Laughing) I met Will at a fashion show, and our sons were gonna go to each other's birthday parties. We were two adults who knew each other and all we talked about was getting our kids to a birthday party.
