I get what you mean with kanye, and i agree. But i think tell me why is an important track to release, it's good for him to show the diversity of the album, people want to hear different kind of things from an artist, and people want to know if there is more then just partytracks. Releasing tell me why is good because it's the best non-party track with an hit-appeal.

Well yeah "Party Starter's" sorta like MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This", it has a lot of rhthym, but it has some conscious lyrics in there too, it wasn't just your average dance song: "My my music hits me so hard Makes me wanna say oh my lord Thank you for blessing me With a mind to rhyme..." Yeah... it's better then 50 cent club songs: thug, dub, bud, bub, g-uniiit, gangsta, g'd up, zup ni*ga, bounce, ass, chea. Chorus in a baby easy rythm: yeah baby we in the club, chea, yeah, this is how we bounce in the club yeah... in the club homies.

There's alot of smaller venues and clubs with permission for people under 18 do go in. Will is smarter then that =)

I read the interview that tim posted up from hiphop connection: it says he's gonna spend a couple of months doings smaller shows. And yeah, I read in a paper that will is the biggest male actor right now. so it would be stupid to let that slip away. I'm sure will has a few more songs. And some time after pursuit of happiness to a couple more songs could mean a new album. ooh..i'm daydreamin again.

Gettin Jiggy - party track MIB - party track Miami - party track(nobody thinks that that is a tribute to a city in the 1st place) Just the two - serious track But BWS was/is so great that it didn't bother anybody that 3 singles were party tracks Well there is a difference, you don't listen to partytracks the way you listen to tell me why... MIB wasn't a partytrack, it had a party feeling, but it wasn't a clubbanger like gettin jiggy with it. Miami was also a partytrack, but a different kind of one (and it came out after gettin jiggy with it), you didn't just relate to partying wih it. ----- I think will doesn't really care about how people like tell me why, cause it seems like the song is one of his favorites and he just wants to get it out so that people hear it. I'm pretty certain it'll be a hit, cause of the fact that it's a cross-over hit. People that usually listen to r&b or soul will like it, people listening to common, mos def and talib will like it but also the youth and more easygoing people will like it. Partystarter has a more directed target of people, the club and mtv people knahmean? Sure it's risky, but hey! Life's full of risks right? Diamonds are forever is dope! It ain't a conscious song, but u really, really got to listen to the lyrics to understand what he means.

It's got selling capacity because of these things: - The Hook! Great hook, mary lifts this song up, catchy, easy. - Beat, simple, yet addictive and different. - Mary J Blige - The Second verse is a verse that alot of people relate to, from political activists (why did mendela hav to live in a cage?) to hardcore rappers (why did pac and bigge have to fall in the street) And the thing is that he doesn't take up the 9/11 the same way as many others do, he tries to twist and see it from a childs eye, AND then critizise the war coming after that. It's not the normal sentimental, sad state of mind. Partystarter is a great song, it's got everything for a hit. But it has a couple of things going against it. - general guideline in the music industry (if u ain't 50 cent and own it) is that u don't release two club tracks after eachother. People want to see what more an album has to offer. Example: Big williestyle had different kind of singles, from gettin jiggy, to a soundtrack song to a tribute to a son and a tribute to a city. another example is Eminems the marshal matters lp. His real worldwide breakthrough. Released different kind of tracks and they all went huge cause of big media watch. Album is diamond. -another thing calling against it is that it's just a little to long for videos and radio. And editet version would be better. Take out maybe eight to twelve bars from it. my friends say it gets kinda nagging after hearing it a couple of times, becasue of the lenght. But also, don't hit em to hard with two melodramatic songs. Tell me why should be followed by a light song like partystarter

The explain this to me man: Why don't you even hear about switch on the streets, in the internet, while you with your homies? Why is Maxfly the only one getting my point with making an impact thing? I don't give a **** if switch has sold alot (SOMETHING WE DON'T EVEN KNOW, BECAUSE WE HAVEN'T SEEN THE FIGURES!!) I could have sold not too many copies, but still land in the top 5 cause of other sales. Think a bit harder then y'all doing, see beyond the fact you're fans and gotta support, cause that's something that's pretty certain we all gotta do. But when you analyze the situation, u gotta take setbacks. Switch isn't a song that's gonna be rememberd when they sum up the year. Switch isn't getting hype person to person, switch is selling alot (again, probably selling alot) because of he got loyal fans. And Fans don't care if he's on MTV or Hot97. They'll buy what's out. BUT, when you release a song that's purpose is being huge, you gotta reach outside the fans and to the people just buying whatever they see on tv or radio. AND that's where switch is lacking and that's why Lost And Found has had a slow start. Switch are making number, but no hype. And i'd rather see switch ten times on MTV then on the charts, casue tv & radio play control album sells. That's knowledge straight outta the musicbiz. Will should have released partystarter as first single, and had switch taken of the album, then you would have HUGE hit (cause partystarter is probably having more of an hype on the tsreets then switch has, being on several mixtapes) and you would have the albums maybe weakest track gone. Will did wrong, everybody makes mistakes. Will has made few, this was one of them (other one was starring in Wild Wild West =). I have to say that Tim made a good point earlier in saying that overseas, people will usually buy the singles and would need more encouragement with a few more singles to buy the whole album. That's at least a partial explanation even if arguable. However, I don't see the sort of buzz around Switch that the charts imply that it has. Maybe it's just because I'm in the US and Switch has been out for 10 weeks, and I can't talk for those in other countries, but in the US, no one really seems to be talking about it. Perhaps it's because it isn't on tv often and on the radio even less, but it just doesn't seem to have that huge hit feel... that buzz that Jesus Walks or Usher's "Yeah" had. Is it a hit? Yes. Has it done well. Yes. Tell Me Why still needs to drop regardless, cause I'm sure it'll be a huge hit, and there shouldn't be any doubt. Yeah, i also agree with tim on that. And i get it if will doesn't wanna release tell me why now. But he could atleast release it to the radio. Another thing i'm curious about is the management with will. Now that he's on his own label (again, overbrooke is the main source of eveyrhintg going aroung wil L&F, interscope are just distributers.) who is making the decisions? Is it will that puts up the marketing plan or does he have a staff or something?

That's what i mean... you don't hear people having switch as their cellphone ringers , singing it in public and so on.. Well actually, we reallu don't know how much switch has sold. It could have sold much, but also pretty little, depending on how much other singles are selling... i mean if the n.1 is selling 50 000 a week, the two could be selling 20k a week..and so on... And i'm with big ted on this on two, he shouldn't have problems, cause ven though his last albums didn't sell so much, he's still a legend and people show him love, kinda like madonna, kylie, destinys child etc. I know people that doesn't even listen to hiphop that would go to see him just too see the worlds most famous male actor or just the man who wrote the best summersong (or the best song ever). edit: and yeah, we should get in contact with overbrooke or sumthin.

Switch has probably sold more that Mario and Candy Shop cos its still there so how is it not more of a hit. Radio stations don't say what a hit is where im from son, Sales do. US charts mean nothing, DJ's make them charts not the people. And if you compare the time's Hey Ya was played on television with Switch, then you'll see what i Mean. What's so hard to understand? The ultimate scenario: Will releases Tell Me Why to radio at the end of this month. Video and Single released in the beginning of June. Tell me why get's huge and goes to the top.5 in almost every country in the world. Lost and found keeps and weekly sale around 40-50k. Then part ystarter is released by the end of the summer, get's huge too, everybody's bumping it in the club. Sales go around 30k a week. and then, Will get nominated for awards at MTV, Vh1, grammys and so on, he performs at awards shows like that. Sales keep up around 30k. That would be: 30k a week rest of the year= approximately: 950.000. that would mean it going platinum. Worst scenario: Tell me why is released in august, lost and found isn't hot anymore, sales doesn't boost, but they do keep up around 10k a week. third single is released way too late and maybe even a bad song. No hit, sales go down to like 5-9k a week, until the album is forgotten by the end of the fall. Means album won't even go gold.

Come on, let's be realistic. Forget a world tour, maybe a u.s tour and a short european. Like 7-8 places in the u.s and 5-6 in europe. Don't forget it's just not setting up shows, people got to book him and he probably cost alot. I mean... kanye west was in sweden, he took 80.000$. Will would probably take more then 150.000$. And to make money of a gig like that..in needs to be in stadiums and huge concert halls.. It's not certain Will would fill a 18.000 icestadium in Paris or Madrid. I believe he could in the U.K. But I think he will be doing shows at venue with the capacity of 1000-4000 people. And nooo...swtich isn't a huuuuge hit all over the world. a huge hit is candyshop, i don't care if he outsold candyshop, cuz switch didn't make the same impact as candyshop did. Candyshop is a hit in EVERY country in the world. The probably bump that piece of crap in Nigeria.
