  1. With Friday's estimates in from BoxOfficeMojo.com, I Am Legend is still #3 pulling in $9.1 million. That brings the U.S. box-office total to $176.2 million. If it continues at this pace, I Am Legend will pass $200 million on New Year's Eve. It will mark the the time a Will Smith movie has surpassed $200 million. $250 million is now in the picture as a final tally for Smith's post-apocolyptic thriller.
  2. The extended holiday season has been very kind to the top 3 movies of this past weekend. Although I Am Legend has slipped to #3 at the box-office behind National Treasure and Alvin & The Chipmunks, the movie still pulled in $8.7 million on Wednesday and $7.4 on Thursday. The post-apocolyptic thriller has now grossed over $160 million in the U.S. box office. It now seems that the movie could finish in the $225-250 million range. If it crosses $200 million, it will be Smith's third movie to cross $200 million joining Independence Day($306 million) and Men In Black($250 million). Domestic: $167.0 million Overseas: $61.3 million Worldwide: $228.3 million
  3. The official numbers are in from the 5-day weekend and as expected National Treasure: Book of Secrets finished #1 with $65.4 million over the Christmas holiday weekend. In second was Will Smith's apocolyptic thriller, I Am Legend with $47.7 million($33.6 million over the 3-day weekend). I.A.L. has now crossed $150 million in just 11 days. Overseas, I Am Legend premiered in several European markets and it had an excellent week. Along with the Asian markets, I.A.L. grossed $41.3 million over the week. The movie finished #1 in Spain, Belgium & The Netherlands. More numbers are expected by week's end. Domestic: $150.9 million Overseas: $61.3 million Worldwide: $212.2 million

  5. According to estimates on BoxOfficeMojo.com, I Am Legend hung on to the #2 ranking on the extended Christmas holiday weekend. Estimates have I.A.L. pulling in a hefty $13.2 million on Monday & Tuesday(National Treasure: Book of Secrets was #1 with $19.8 million). Based on these estimates, I Am Legend has now grossed over $150 million in just 11 days. It now seems certain that I.A.L. will surpass the $200 million mark. Look for the international numbers to come in on Wednesday. Domestic: $150.7 million Overseas: $19.8 million Worldwide: $169.5 million
  6. I bought The Cool on Tuesday and I must say it's easily one of the five best hip-hop CD of '07. I didn't think he could outdo himself after Food & Liquor but he did. This album is in heavy rotation for me. Grade: A
  7. With the three day weekend coming to an end, I Am Legend lost 55.7% of its box-office total from last weekend's record-setting total. Not to worry though as it still finished in 2nd place with $34.2 million at the box office. As expected, National Treasure: Book Of Secrets finished #1 at the box-office($45.5 million). What was not expected was that I Am Legend easily fought off the rest of the competition and it only trailed National Treasure by $11 million. With the Christmas holiday expected to keep people in the theaters, I Am Legend could pull in another $20 million over the next 2 days. It is expected to cross $150 million by Wednesday. Also, expect the international numbers to skyrocket now that I.A.L. has made its way to most of Europe. Domestic: $137.5 million Overseas: $19.7 million Worldwide: $157.2 million
  8. Well it seems that I Am Legend is receiving good word of mouth. Friday's estimates, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com, have the latest Will Smith blockbuster at $11.0 and in 2nd place behind National Treasure: Book Of Secrets. This is significant because it only trailed NTBOS by only $6 million. That suggests that I Am Legend will be poised to make another $30 million over the weekend and close to $50 million through Christmas Day. Domestic: $114.3 million Overseas: $19.7 million Worldwide: $134.0 million
  9. Chalk up another $6.0 million for Will Smith's apocolyptic, vampire thriller I Am Legend. The movie grossed $6 million on Wednesday bringing its total to $97.2 million dollars. The movie will cross the $100 million mark today and look to take on National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Sweeney Todd, Charlie Wilson's War and Walk Hard to try and hold on to its #1 ranking. Also, expect the overseas box office total to explode as it is opening in many markets across Europe. The movie now ranks #3 on the Sci-Fi/Horror and Vampire genres. It could become #1 in the Vampire genre by Christmas. Domestic: $97.2 million Overseas: $19.7 million Worldwide: $116.9 million
  10. Well at this point, I Am Legend is becoming the 800 lb. gorilla. The post-acopolytic thriller starring Will Smith pulled in another $6.5 million on Tuesday. The movie has now grossed $91.2 million in just 5 days. Look for the movie to surpass $100 million by Friday. More tidbits: Friday's $30.1 million opening day is the best opening day of Smith's career... and ranks #18 on the all-time list. Domestic: $91.2 million Overseas: $19.7 million Worldwide: $110.9 million
  11. Monday's totals are in for I Am Legend and it pounded the competition again pulling close to $7.5 million. If it keeps at this pace, I Am Legend could pass $100 million... by Friday. Domestic: $84.7 million Overseas: $19.7 million Total BO: $104.4 million
  12. I Am Legend opened overseas in 8 markets and pulled in close to $20 million. It opened #1 in Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and South Korea. It opened #2 in Hong Kong. This is a pretty strong opening in just 8 markets. It will look to really cash in once it opens around Europe. Sunday's total for I.A.L. was actually $18.4 million, slightly above the $17 million estimate. With National Treasure 2 & Todd Sweeney opening this week, it will be tough for I.A.L. to hold on to its #1 spot but it should easily cross the $100 million mark by weekend's end.
  13. The whale toss was classic. It looks funny as hell to me. A movie about a down-and-out superhero. You just know there's gonna be comedy in this. I'm looking forward to this movie.
  14. I tend to listen to the album all the way through the first time.
  15. The official numbers for the weekend are out and as expected I Am Legend crushed the competition this past weekend. The actual numbers are a tad higher than the estimates. I.A.L. grossed $77.2 million this past weekend. It also racked up another $20 million overseas giving I Am Legend a $92.2 million worlwide tally. Smith's latest blockbuster smash cements Will Smith as the most bankable star in the world. His last six movies have grossed over $100 million and I.A.L. will make it seven. It is the seventh straight movie starring Smith to open at #1 at the box office. It also marks the seventh straight movie to open with at least $25 million in its opening weekend. Six of those seven movies grossed over $40 million in its opening weekend. Other records: I Am Legend's opening weekend is the biggest opening weekend ever for a movie in December. It is also Will Smith's biggest opening 3-day weekend ever. The movie also ranks in the top 10 in 4 sub-genres(including Sci-Fi/Horror and Sci-Fi/Remake). It was the 4th best opening weekend in 2007 and the 17th biggest opening weekend ever. The key now for I Am Legend is to have a strong 2nd weekend. It will be important that this movie has a strong word-of-mouth(The major reason for Pursuit of Happyness' success was its strong word of mouth) because Nicholas Cage's National Treasure 2 is expected to reign this weekend at the box office. If I.A.L. loses less than 50% of its box-office total from this past weekend then it will finish around $200 million. Domestic: $77.2 million Overseas: $20.0 million Total B.O.: $92.2 million
  16. Generally what happens is that Sunday is a bit of a slow-down. You will see somewhat of a drop from Saturday to Sunday. The movie kept pace with what some analysts predicted for the weekend. The $76.5 million opening weekend was the 5th biggest of the year. It was the biggest opening weekend ever in the month of December and it ranks #20 on the all-time opening weekend list. After just 3 days, I Am Legend ranks #31 on the yearly box office list. I Am Legend could pull in nearly $200 million before it closes and maybe more. Last year's Pursuit of Happyness pulled in $163 million after a $26.5 million opening weekend. The key is if I.A.L. will receive a strong word-of-mouth from movigoers like Pursuit. While critics loved P.O.H., the reviews are somewhat mixed for I Am Legend. Domestic: $76.5 million Overseas: N/A Total B.O.: $76.5 million
  17. More stats from opening day: With its $29.5 million dollar Friday opening, I Am Legend ranks #19 on the all-time Opening Day list. It also ranks as Smith's highest grossing opening of his career, far outpacing 2004's I, Robot. I, Robot earn $18.6 million in its opening day.
  18. Tim, I usually wait for BoxOfficeMojo.com to come out with the numbers because they tend to be the most accurate with the box office totals. But you're right, it looks as though I Am Legend could be one of the biggest box office hits... period. According to BoxOfficeMojo.com, Friday's estimates has I Am Legend at $29.5 million. If it stays on this pace, I Am Legend is scheduled to take in close to $80 million in its first weekend. If it does, it will rank in the top 20 of all-time in terms of biggest box-office opening weekends. To bring it home just how big I.A.L. could be, it already ranks in the top 15 of all-time in 3 genres after only one day of release(those genres are Vampire, Sci-Fi/Horror and Sci-Fi/Remake). Domestic: $29.5 million Overseas: N/A Total B.O.: $29.5 million
  19. The first numbers for I Am Legend will be out Sunday evening. It is expected that I.A.L. will rake in between $45-54 million this weekend making it the 7th time an opening weekend total from Will Smith will surpass $40 million and the 4th time in the past 5 of Smith's movies. If it reaches the $54 million mark as some analysts suspect, it will mark the largest 3-day opening weekend total of Smith's career.
  20. You want to talk about heartache? The Blackhawks haven't been to the playoffs in nearly 10 years and until my White Sox won the World Series in '05 it had been almost 100 years since a World Series title. The Bears haven't won the Super Bowl since '85 and now they stink again. The Cubs? Well they're just a lesson in lifelong futility. And you haven't met rabid sports fans until you've met a die-hard, long-suffering Cubs fan. I'll give you credit though. I gave mad props to the Philly fans for booing Ja Rule at an Eagles playoff game a few years back. That was CLASSIC!!! :lolsign:
  21. Hollywood has been slumping of late. The Golden Compass and Beowulf were supposed to be big box office hits but they aren't. They both had modest, if not underwhelming, opening weekends. Not many people are expecting Tom Hanks' "Charlie Wilson's War" and Denzel Washington's "The Great Debaters" to have massive opening weekends either so Hollywood's hope is for one movie - I Am Legend. They really need I.A.L. to do big numbers to pull out of their end of the year slump. With the buzz surrounding I.A.L., I expect it to do somewhere around $40 million in its opening weekend. Rotten Tomatoes currently has I.A.L. at 75% so it's getting real good reviews.
  22. It was a good fight. Mayweather was just that much better than Hatton. BTW, his head hitting the ringpost was classic comedy. :lolsign: Oh and Bob, I think sports fans in Chicago are just as passionate as you Philly fans. I have great respect for Philly and all their teams.
  23. I've been busy with work myself. Don't worry though - I'll have all the latest box office numbers for I Am Legend. It looks to be another blockbuster for Will. It's good to hear from all of you... except you Patriots & Cowboys fans!!!! Just kidding. LOL!!!!! :muahaha:
  24. The fact that Soulja Boy was even considered to be nominated is a disgrace to music. And I wouldn't be shocked if he won though something tells me that Kanye is going to get a lot of Grammys this year.
  25. I guess if Will's not going to let anything get in the way of his acting, I guess that means no music. I've said it before that Will doesn't have anything else to prove musically but he does in terms of being an actor. Good read. Very good article.
