Milestone - I Care About You(Soul Food Movie Soundtrack)

I like the new ITunes. It's pretty cool how they've got movies and games now. I still have the 60GB iPod+Photo so I'm pretty cool in terms of iPods. I still have about 45GBs left of space... and I have over 2600 songs on there.

Lecrae ft. Trip Lee - Jesus Muzik
-
I heard the album on Wednesday through Yahoo's Music Engine and I think the album is not good at all. It just seems to me that if she's the "heir apparent" to the Queen of R&B throne then she needs to have some substance to her lyrics and I just didn't hear it. Maybe it's just me. Maybe good beats don't do it for me anymore. I need to hear some substance in the lyrics now. I'm not surprised about the first week sales. I really don't think it's about the music anymore. Beyonce is a name brand and the image is already out there. The hype is already out there. Deja Vu is a club banger but I didn't like Ring The Alarm and the other songs had no value in terms of meaning. It's the usual lyrics we've heard before. I'm not seeing lyrical growth from Beyonce and that's rather disappointing. Grade: D-

ARE MUSIC EXCLUSIVES GETTING OUTTA CONTROL?
TopDawg14 replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Caught in the Middle
The music industry is not the only culprit in this mess. The movie industry is just as, if not more guilty. For instance, I bought the original Star Wars trilogy. Then they "remixed" it and put it out on DVD. Now they're redoing it again. The same went for the following movies: The Usual Suspects, Die Hard Trilogy, Lethal Weapon 1-4 and JFK just to name a few. Heck they even re-released the Chicago Bulls' championship videos with all sorts of extra features(yes, I went and bought the box set - I'm a Bulls fan). It's basically like Ted said; the industry is looking for any way to get you to buy the product. -
NICK LACHEY + JESSICA SIMPSON SETTLE MONEY DISPUTE

I agree with that sentiment, AJ. And for the record, Nick's album is not that bad. He's got a few nice songs on there. -
NICK LACHEY + JESSICA SIMPSON SETTLE MONEY DISPUTE
TopDawg14 replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Caught in the Middle
I'm not really a big fan of either Jessica or Nick but Nick deserves 50% of the money. If Nick never married Jessica, MTV wouldn't have done that show and she probably would not have blown up. Personally, Nick is a pretty cool dude and he was probably too nice of a guy to fight this out. I would have have fought for every penny. I mean it's not as if Jessica had Beyonce-type status when that Newlyweds show started. She was looking to anything to breath life into her sagging career. I just think Nick got the shaft. -
Mos Def Arrested for "Crashing" The VMAs...
TopDawg14 replied to Vipa's topic in Caught in the Middle
Props to Mos Def for keeping the real in hip-hop. People have crashed the VMAs before but because Mos Def performed a song ripping the government to shreds over Hurricane Katrina, MTV and the NYPD decided to shut it down. If more people would make music that challenged and uplifted the mind instead of the continued nonsense that's going on, people would see the government and the entertainment industry's aim to dumb down our young people and keep them uninformed and totally dependent on the government. -
Well it appears that wack rapper #1 needs more attention so his next target in what seems to be an endless amount of beefs is none other than... Sean "Puffy" Combs. wack rapper #1 has recorded a song called "The Bomb" in which he takes various shots at Puffy. One of those shots is that Puffy knows who killed The Notorious B.I.G. and that Puffy's baby-mama, Misha Hilton, told wack rapper #1 a secret about Puffy(an "in the closet" rumor perhaps?). It seems the source behind this latest kindergarten beef has to do with the fact that Puffy won't let former gangsta rapper-turned former pastor-turned gangsta rapper Mase out of his Bad Boy contract. You can hear the song(if you can stomach it) at allhiphop.com. Just another reason to believe that rap is on its death bed... that and the fact that Black Eyed Peas won the VMA for best hip-hop video.

Ted, I feel your frustration but the fact is that Will is one of the top 2 or 3 movie stars in the world and to remain in that rare air he's got to make films. I honestly think that winning an Oscar is more important to Will now than music. And I'm not saying that Will doesn't care about music(he most certainly does) but the music industry is congested with crap and politics. It's all about the money and at least in the movie industry you can make an indie movie and it receive critical and mass acclaim(i.e. Hustle & Flow, Crash, etc.). When was the last indie hip-hop CD to receive both critical and mass acclaim. You'll be lucky if you even get to hear dead prez on "big radio".

I wouldn't turn down one or two 20 million dollar movies but I'd also do music more often if I was in Will's position if I really wanted people to respect me as much with music as I am currently with movies but I guess he doesn't want that, I guess he don't care if people consider a great actor who occasionally makes a couple of dance tunes, he shouldn't have complained so much on "lost and found" about people doubting his rap abilities if he's gonna go on to do 5 films afterwards, he's giving them reason to doubt him... I think it was more of a case of Will voicing his displeasure with the rap scene and he has a right to voice his opinions. Right now rap is polluted with bad music because everybody's doing an album every 12-15 months and then they do mixtapes. When you do that much music it gets boring and repetitive. I'd rather have a rapper do quality albums every 2+ years as opposed to the nonsense that's going on now.

With a best friend like THAT, I wouldn't even need any other friends. She is so hot!!

When I first heard Justin Timberlake's lead single, Sexy Back, it took awhile for it to grow on me. After hearing the title track, FutureSex/LoveSound, and his new single, My Love featuring T.I., I now get the concept that Justin is shooting for and I gotta say that(and I hate to admit it) Justin is bringing that heat. And hear me on this - Timbaland is the best producer in the game right now. I said it - better than Pharrell; better than Kanye; better than just about everyone in the game. Here are the links(quality may not be that great and they are stolen links). Justin Timberlake - FutureSex/LoveSound Justin Timberlake feat. T.I. & Timbaland - My Love

(Sarcastically) I'm shocked that everyone forgot Busta's Oscar-worthy performance in "Higher Learning". On the real, Busta needs to really examine his life and the people around him. He's been making some real bad decisions lately.

If I had a vote, these would be my top 5: 1. Tiger Woods 2. Will Smith 3. Will Ferrell 4. Samuel L. Jackson 5. Vince Vaughn

TopDawg14 replied to willsmithandjazz4life's topic in Caught in the Middle
It's funny how people would be so cruel to come up with hoaxes like that. They did the same thing to Jaleel White earlier this year. and FYI, Jaleel's not dead either. Oh, and Vipa.... THE COWBOYS SUCK!!!! -

Will & Jada Think Its weird they having seen tomkats child
TopDawg14 replied to Hero1's topic in Will Smith Movies
From Monday's edition of The Chicago Sun-Times: We have yet to see those much-hyped Vanity Fair photos of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' baby Suri, but the Hollywood heiress supposedly made quite the splash at the recent Los Angeles birthday party held at a roller-skating rink for Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith's son, Jaden. The New York Daily News cites a source saying, "Suri is a beautiful baby. ... She has a gorgeous head full of dark, curly hair, and she resembles both parents, though she looks slightly more like Tom." Here's the link. -

Good read even though he is stating the obvious points that many of us have made on this board. I do respect the fact that he won't spin records he feels to be demeaning. Even though I agree with most of his points, the real reason behind kids' behavior starts in the home. If there is no structure and discipline in the home then you're going to continue to see the stuff you see. While I don't believe that rap music is the source of the problem, today's rap music is part of the problem. My belief is that if you're not helping to find a solution then you're part of the problem. Rap music is a BIG part of the problem.

I really, really hate that song. Sister Sledge - He's The Greatest Dancer(JJFP fans should know about this song)
