Yeah AJ, I agree with you. It was the kind of battle that stayed strictly on wax. I remember Kool Moe Dee being on Video Soul(for those of you still with similac in your breath, Video Soul was the top video show on BET back in the day) with Donnie Simpson and Donnie asked him if he really had beef with LL. Kool Moe Dee said it was just two rappers battling. Donnie asked him if he saw LL would there be any fighting and Moe Dee said no. He had respect for LL and it would be love if the two saw each other. That is a much different case than most of these rappers now. The battles are too personal and they aren't even talking about each other's skills as an emcee. I heard 50's Piggy Bank and all he talked about was shooting people and taking personal shots at other rapper's personal lives. That's not battling and that's why the Moe Dee/LL battle was so classic.

I have two questions: 1. Was the LL/Kool Moe Dee "beef" the best battle ever(other than the MC Shan/KRS-One battle)? 2. Even though most rap fans say LL won the battle between the two, wasn't Kool Moe Dee's "Let's Go" the hottest battle rap song? I've been listening to it and I just think that even though LL won the overall battle, Moe Dee's "Let's Go" was the best diss song.

I'm not surprised that Party Starter crashed and burned. We are living in a time where positivity is actually a negative. I don't think it's Will's fault. He spent from February to June promoting Lost & Found. He can't make DJs play his songs. He can't make BET & MTV play his videos. These are things that are out of his hands. It's all about a rap industry that is basically blackballing artists don't play to the status quo. Sure, you'll get a Kayne West to slip through the cracks but do you really think he would be getting shine if he wasn't on Rocafella? As much shine as Common got for BE, he still hasn't surpassed 1 million sold. I don't even think he's outsold Will who got absolutely no promotion. Lost & Found is not a flop. It may be to some people because he didn't sell over a million but that's not the case. With no promotion from Interscope, no help from the industry and no spins from radio, it still sold over 600,000. Lost & Found went gold with no help. It sounds like a success to me considering all the hate the industry is giving Will. Will can record as long as he wants to. I think he should just bypass the industry totally and go independent. He might want to even think about releasing albums digitally from now on. Forget the stores, the DJs, the industry, MTV, BET! Rap is dead... and Corporate America and rappers' own greed killed it.

I would actually like to see him do more movies. I want him to win an Oscar. He's cool as far as the music goes. Just as long as he puts out an album every 2 years then I'm straight. More movies... more Oscar nominations.

I think I was 14 or 15 and I was walking out of the grocery store one night(in the dead of winter no less) and I slipped and fell right on my butt in front of a girl. Needless to say I was embarrassed for the rest of the night.

You just hope that Jay-Z doesn't mess with the Roots' sound and try to water it down. The Roots are one of the few hip-hop acts that try to experiment with their music and push it to new boundaries. Good move though by Mr. Carter.

Interesting read. There is a lot of truth to this article. Had it been 50 Cent he would have read the script line for line because the only thing that matters to him is money. 50 doesn't care about the manners in which he can get it - just as long as he gets paid. I respect Kanye for having the guts to speak out on something he felt. You can agree or disagree with him but he had the "sac" to say what he had to say. Has anyone heard 50 speak out about it? Lil' John? Eminem? G-Unit? Anyone? Anyone?

Schnazz, I have one gray hair in my beard, thank you very much. LOL. We'll see how much you'll be laughing when your first gray hair appears. The sig is hot though, right? LOL.

I think the f-word should have been bleeped out. That second verse is like lava getting hotter in the volcano before eventually erupting. You can hear the passion and intensity in Will's voice as he goes thru the verse. The f-word simply sums up Will's frustration and anger at the injustice in the world. It's quite possible the best verse he's ever spit.

I hope Jay gets back in for one reason... to finish 50 Cent. I like some of Jay's stuff and he has one of the sickest flows in the game. I just wish he would do more songs about real-life situations and much less about the pimp/playa/hustla lifestyle. Jay's got skills and I believe he's going to bury the careers of 50, G-Unit and Dipset to name a few. All of those cats have been taking shots at him.
