  1. Updated Numbers: Final Domestic Box Office: $179.2 million Overseas Box Office : $186.3 million Total Worldwide Box Office: $365.5 million Hitch seems to have its problems competing against box-office heavyweights Star Wars 3, Madagascar and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The romantic comedy pulled in another $1 million overseas with less than 30% of that total coming from Japan. Hitch is definitely suffering in Japan due to its ridiculously late release. Nevertheless, it still appears that Hitch will finish above $190 million overseas.
  2. I found the information for digital download singles and their award status. Here's the info from RIAA.com: So that means that there have been over 200,000 downloads of Switch which is very impressive for a digital single. Go Will!! :2thumbs:
  3. Now Will can give all the haters, naysayers, and critics the BIG MIDDLE FINGER!!!! This is what I've been waiting for. He did it without "black radio", the hip-hop industry, BET, and anybody else who thought Will was wack!!! This also shows that he is a real emcee with devoted fans who support him. This is a great day! Will is now back!!! Wait a minute, don't call it a comeback - Will's been here for years!!!
  4. RIAA.com has posted Lost and Found as a Gold record and Switch as a platinum single for a digital single. Go to RIAA.com, type in Will Smith and see it for yourself!! BIG WILL HAS DONE IT AGAIN!! CONGRATULATIONS WILL!!! :2thumbs:
  5. That VH1 show was the 40 Least Hip-Hop Moments. I wasn't too happy about the fact they dissed him. I thought it was in poor taste to diss a guy who was rapping about God and trying to reach out to Eminem. 47 Emcees is one of my favorite songs by KJ. I've got all his albums and dude is real nice on the mic.
  6. Well if you ask me, I think Will is a genius. He's taking it back to old-school way of selling albums. Most artists today have 2-3 songs on the radio at once. Their albums start big but then fade really fast. Will is doing the exact opposite. He's got one single out, he's doing a lot of promos and yet he's doing in excess of 25K a week. It would be great if L&F shot up to #1 but I'm sastified that after one single, L&F is still in the top 40. What that tells us is that this album is consistent and it's going to be around for a while.
  7. 1. Lost & Found 2. He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper 3. Willennium 4. Homebase 5. Big Willie Style 6. Born To Reign 7. Code Red 8. And In This Corner 9. Rock The House
  8. AJ, I'm feeling you on those albums. I played Midnight Marauders my freshman year in college until the CD wore out. Here are some of mine: MJ - Thriller, Bad Jill Scott - Who Is Jill Scott Maroon 5 - Songs About Jane Thelonious Monk - Live At The Club: Complete Brian McKnight - I Remember You Erykah Badu - Baduizm Sade - Love Deluxe Zhane - Pronounced Jah-Nay
  9. So I'm like everybody here at the board blasting MJ on my IPod and as I listened to Thriller and Bad, I remembered how flawless these 2 CDs are. So I have a question - what albums in your collection or otherwise would you consider to be flawless(and by flawless I mean that you have to listen to every song on the CD because every song is so tight)?
  10. Yeah, it's good marketing on FP's part. I liked the DVD. Having never seen JJFP in concert before gave me a real look into how a JJFP concert would look like. I kinda wished he performed longer though.
  11. Updated Numbers: Domestic: $179.2 million Overseas: $185.3 million Worldwide: $364.5 million Despite the onslaught of big budget bonazas such as Star Wars, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Madagascar, Hitch managed to pull in another $1.7 million overseas, mostly in Japan. Japan's box office has been a bit disappointing but that is largely due to its late release date. Had it been released earlier, it might have pulled in bigger box office. Hitch still expects to finish above $370 million worldwide.
  12. Jamiroquai - Feels Just Like It Should Ini Kamoze - Here Comes The Hotstepper Big Will - Chosen One Big Will - We Won't Gwen Stefani - Hollaback Girl
  13. It looks like another consistent week for Will. Will is doing this his way and it's looking more and more that he'll go Gold by the end of the month. By the way, that new Coldplay cd is pretty good. :2thumbs:
  14. I knew this was coming for at least 3-4 years. Destiny's Child was all about pushing Beyonce as a star. If she had flopped as a solo artist/actress then I don't think they would have broken up. She doesn't need DC anymore and add to the fact that she fired her father and you just knew DC's fate was sealed Here's the article: Destiny's Child Announce Split 06.12.2005 7:36 PM EDT Group will part ways after forthcoming U.S. tour. Destiny's Child (file) Photo: Sony In a surprise announcement from the stage during a show in Barcelona, Spain, on Saturday night, the members of Destiny's Child told fans they will disband at the conclusion of their current Destiny Fulfilled ... And Lovin' It Tour. DC member Kelly Rowland made the revelation before 16,000 fans at the Palau Sant Jordi, explaining that the concert would be the last European appearance by the group. In a statement released exclusively to MTV News on Sunday (June 12), the trio thanked their loyal fans and pledged sisterly devotion to one another. "We have been working together as Destiny's Child since we were 9, and touring together since we were 14," the statement read. "After a lot of discussion and some deep soul searching, we realized that our current tour has given us the opportunity to leave Destiny's Child on a high note, united in our friendship and filled with an overwhelming gratitude for our music, our fans, and each other. After all these wonderful years working together, we realized that now is the time to pursue our personal goals and solo efforts in earnest. ... No matter what happens, we will always love each other as friends and sisters and will always support each other as artists. We want to thank all of our fans for their incredible love and support and hope to see you all again as we continue fulfilling our destinies." The announcement is surprising not least because the trio had downplayed rumors of a split in the wake of member Beyoncé Knowles' multiplatinum 2003 solo LP, Dangerously in Love (see "Destiny's Child Back In The Studio, So 'Shut Up!' Kelly Rowland Says"), although plans did call for the members to focus on solo projects at the end of this tour (see "Destiny's Child Put On A Fashion Show At U.K. Concert"). Destiny's Child — Knowles, Rowland and Michelle Williams — have become one of the top-selling female pop vocal groups in history, with worldwide sales of more than 40 million records. They will retire the name after their upcoming U.S. tour and pursue individual careers in film, music, theater and television. Despite the announcement, the group's forthcoming U.S. tour — its first in four years — will go off as planned, kicking off on July 9 at the Savvis Center in St. Louis and wrapping up on September 10 at GM Place in Vancouver. Support acts on the tour include Amerie, Mario and Tyra (see "Destiny's Child Map Out North American Tour"). Destiny's Child formed in Houston in 1990 when Knowles and original member LaTavia Roberson were 9 years old, with Knowles' father, Mathew, acting as their manager. Knowles' cousin, Rowland, joined two years later, in time for the trio to make their national debut on the show "Star Search." Fourth member LeToya Luckett signed on 1993, and the group made its recorded debut with the song "Killing Time" on the 1997 soundtrack to the blockbuster "Men in Black." Their self-titled debut dropped the next year and spawned the Wyclef Jean-produced hit "No No No." Their second album, 1999's The Writing's on the Wall, cemented their reputation as hitmakers, with "Bills Bills Bills" and "Say My Name." But at the peak of their success, Roberson and Luckett tried to drop Mathew Knowles as their manager and were subsequently replaced in the "Say My Name" video with new members Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin. The two ejected members sued Mathew Knowles and the group and eventually settled, but further turmoil ensued with Franklin, whose five-month tenure in Destiny's Child ended in July 2000. The group continued as a trio, scoring another huge hit with the song "Independent Women, Pt. 1" from the "Charlie's Angels" soundtrack, following it with 2001's Survivor, which hit with the title track and the ubiquitous "Bootylicious." Though Beyoncé had long since become the breakout star of the group, Williams was the first to release a solo album, the gospel LP Heart to Yours, in 2002. Beyoncé, who co-starred with Mike Myers in the third Austin Powers movie, "Goldmember," released Dangerously in Love in 2003, and Rowland released an LP that year, Simply Deep. Even after Beyoncé scored multiplatinum success off such solo hits as "Crazy in Love" and her face become a regular presence in commercials and print ads, the trio came back together last year to release Destiny Fulfilled.

  18. I know I harp a lot about black radio but I have one more gripe. On the Billboard R&B/Rap Airplay Top 50 charts, Switch is nowhere to be found. That's not a surprise. What is a surprise is that Gwen Stefani's Hollaback Girl is #35 on the chart. Now I love Hollaback Girl but it's not hip-hop and it's on the chart while Switch is hip-hop and it's nowhere to be found. I rest my case. The music industry is dead.
  19. I'm sure Will would have exercised great restraint. Me on the other hand... well...
  20. I can't understand why some of you were disappointed to see Will perform Switch but I have even more opinions about his NBA Finals performance: * Understand that it was San Antonio. You had a lot of corporate execs and higher ups at this game. Most of the people who were at the game are rich, older suburbanites who don't like hip-hop. * It was still an honor for Will to open up the NBA Finals. * Switch is a top 10 hit. * Will Smith is a safe choice to perform at the NBA Finals and Switch is a safe song. It's probably the main reason why ABC & The NBA tapped him to open up the Finals. * Even if Will had performed Party Starter, he would have gotten the same reaction from the crowd or maybe less. It really didn't matter which song he performed because most of the people in the crowd were older, white people who more than likely don't like hip-hop. * We all keep talking about Party Starter and how it's going to be huge. I hate to burst bubbles but the rap industry at large has spoken and they choose to ignore and diss Will. I don't think Party Starter, like Switch and a lot of his other singles, will get play on "black radio". I hope I'm wrong but I'm just not so sure that Party Starter is going to all-of-a-sudden make people who hate on Will say, "hey he's still got it." The rap industry and the mindless youngsters have deemed Will obsolete.
  21. There are five reasons why I'll be going to see this movie: Angelina Jolie, Angelina Jolie, Angelina Jolie, Angelina Jolie and oh yeah, Angelina Jolie. She is so hot!
  22. I'm pretty surprised myself. Keep in mind that Switch is getting virtually no airplay on "black radio" and the video is basically non-existent on BET & MTV. Most "urban" DJs and critics act like Will doesn't exist. But you know what.... THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!!!!!!
  23. I was at work and forgot to tape the beginning but I heard it on ESPN Radio. Trust, the crowd was feeling it. They cheered wildly when the announcer said Will's name. They also cheered very loudly at the end of the song when the announcer said, "give it up for Will Smith!" I can't say I agree with some of the opinions that people are getting tired of Switch. I love that song and the fact that the NBA picked Will to open up the NBA Finals is real big. It's not like Switch is #97 on the charts; it's a Top 10 single! A lot of people are feeling the song. When you perform at big events like the Super Bowl or the NBA Finals you usually perform your hit song. When the NBA All-Star game was at Denver a couple of years ago, Outkast performed Hey-Ya even though they had another single out. I know everybody wants to hear Party Starter but it was smart for Will to perform Switch. It's his hit song right now. A lot of people haven't heard Party Starter so the crowd probably wouldn't have been pumped. Everyone needs to relax. Will knows what he's doing.
  24. I'm not sure if Switch will go gold. I'm not sure if it was released in record stores here in the U.S. Good to see L&F go platinum worldwide. I agree with Tim that L&F will go Gold at the end of the month. If it keeps at this steady pace it could go platinum by early next year.
  25. I wouldn't even call today's nonsense battles. The last good battle was between Westside Connection and Common back in '94. Since then it's all been about trying to degrade each other's personal lives. These numbnuts don't even talk each other's rhyme skills and lyrics. It's all nonsense to me. It's why I don't really listen to rap anymore.
