I would like to see a MIB 3 if the script is done right. I think MIB 3 should be a little darker in tone like the first one. The second one was OK but it tried to be funnier than MIB 1 and kind of failed. You should let the comedy come naturally. If MIB 3 was like I, Robot in terms of direction and tone, then it would really be good.

Updated Numbers: Domestic: $179.2 million Overseas: $182.7 million Worldwide: $361.9 million According to the website, The Numbers, Hitch has made over $179 million in the U.S. It also means that Hitch has surpassed "Pretty Woman" to take over the #3 spot on the all-time romantic comedy list. While Hitch only made a little under $300,000 since the last report, it will get a significant boost when it opens in Japan later this month. The international numbers should eclipse the $200 million mark. Stay tuned...

It's interesting that Switch, which I think is a cool hip-hop track, is nowhere to be found on the Rap & Hip-Hop/R&B charts. I think it just continues to solidify that unless you talk about rims, girls and guns that you won't get played on hip-hop radio. I can't wait for L&F to go gold so Will can give everybody in the rap industry the finger. He didn't need any of their help or support to go gold. I just getting real tired of rap right now. If it wasn't for these four albums(Lost & Found, Be, The Thesis by the Ambassador and The Incredible Walk by Phanatik) I wouldn't even care about rap. The whole industry right now is so brutal. Sorry for me getting on my soap-box. Go Will!

The Wayne Brady skit was real funny but the skit that had me dying was the skit about Dave's life at 18, 24 and 30. I wasn't able to see a lot of the episodes when they came on Comedy Central but I bought Seasons 1 & 2 on Saturday. Can't wait for Dave to get back for Season 3.

As expected Will Smith shows up again on Premiere Magazine's 50 Most Powerful List. It's the highest ranking for Will. He is the 4th highest ranked actor behind Tom Cruise(#14), Mel Gibson(#15) and Tom Hanks(#16). He is the highest-ranked African-American on the list(Denzel Washington, the only other African-American on the list is #37). 18. Will Smith Rank Last Year: 29 Title: Chill Will Career Domestic Box Office: $1.8 Billion 2004 Box Office: $306 million Status Report: With fail-safe precision, I, Robot, Shark Tale and Hitch each grossed over $140 million and multiplied that overseas. Producing remake of neighborhood classic Uptown Saturday Night through his Overbrook Entertainment. Next: Either father-son drama Pursuit of Happiness or superhero spoof, Tonight, He Comes. Yes It's True: Gave impromptu concerts at Ellis Island and London premieres of Hitch. :2thumbs:

As always, Common is bringing straight fire. BE is the truth. Common is definitely representing the CHI. A classic hip-hop album. Between him and Will's Lost & Found, I'm pretty satisfied!

Thanks, everybody! Since my birthday usually falls on the Memorial Day weekend, I try to stretch it out over the weekend. It hasn't sunk in that I'm 30 yet. Maybe it'll happen the first time my back goes out. :lolsign:

do you feel kinda bad for loretta?
TopDawg14 replied to willsmithlover01's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Actually Selena's killer was the president of the Selena Fan Club. I go both ways with the Loretta situation. I feel sorry because she did have real mental issues and allowed admiration to turn real crazy. I don't feel sorry for her because... SHE WAS NUTS!!!!! She stalked Will and talked about killing his wife. She deserved to be locked up. Loretta is like the Runaway Bride here in the States. There are some people talking about how she shouldn't go to jail. YES SHE SHOULD!!! She ran away and almost had a nationwide hunt on for her. She lied to the police and she deserves to go to jail... just like Loretta. -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KEV!!!! Cool, you're legal!!! :lolsign: :2thumbs:

Updated Numbers: Domestic: $177.8 million Overseas: $182.4 million Worldwide: $360.2 million Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith crushed all the competition this past weekend meaning Hitch could only muster $700,000 at the international box office. With Sith opening up in more countries this week, look for Hitch's overseas number to be just about non-exsistent. Don't be too sad. Hitch's international box office just passed Home Alone 2 to #89 on the all-time list. Because of Hitch's incredible numbers, Will Smith now has 4 movies in the top 100 both domestically and internationally. Here are his numbers and ranks: Domestic Box Office/Rank: 19. Independence Day - $306.2 million 33. Men In Black - $250.7 million 63. Men In Black II - $190.4 million 80. Hitch - $177.8 million Worldwide Box Office/Rank: 12. Independence Day - $817.0 million 26. Men In Black - $589.4 million 54. Men In Black II - $441.8 million 89. Hitch - $360.2 million

1. Boyz N The Hood - G.O.A.T. I really don't need to get into how great this movie is. 2. Menace II Society - Dark, chilling, real tragic and yet truthful. 3. New Jack City - Gritty yet comedic on some levels; some of the best one liners in cinema history. Examples: "Sit your $5 @$$ down before I make change." "I never liked you anyway, you pretty m.f." "Pookie, look at your funky, black @$$."

I'm gonna go with Lisa, Will's girlfriend. The only reason is because Nia Long is so fine and it was just another reason for me to watch FPOBA. I did think Ty was hilarious, though.

:hmm:  I was kinda feeling the other skins better than these. I guess I like the Rooq.net and Rap City skins the best.

According to MovieCityNews.com, Hitch has now made $177,819,084 as of May 19th. Still in theatres, although on less than 200 screens, Hitch is desperately trying to get to the $180 million mark. It will probably fall short of that by at least $1.5 million but nonetheless it still has been a huge success for Sony/Columbia Pictures. With Hitch as its best movie, Sony/Columbia has the largest percentage of the market share at 15.4%(or $448.1 million). Expect that to change with Star Wars - Episode III being released by Fox. Hopefully we'll get overseas numbers later in the week. :2thumbs: :respect:

Actually, Will owns the title right now. I read an article on Will Ferrell in the Chicago Sun-Times and it showed the biggest box-office draws according to actual box-office ticket sales and who should be in the #1 spot - Will Smith. I forget the top 10 list but I know Will is #1, Tom is either 2 or 3. Surprisingly, Will Ferrell is #10.

Max, Stores like Best Buy, Circuit City, and Wal-Mart are considered "big, over-the-counter" retailers. The moment the cashier swipes that CD across the scanner, that sale automatically goes into Soundscan since all the "big" retailers are hooked into Soundscan. That's where the 237,000 number came from. All other types of stores, retailers, internet houses, mail houses and other markets that legitimally sell music have to report to the RIAA exactly how many CDs they sold from a certain artist. If some neighborhood store ordered 50 units of BTR and sold 30, then that store has to report to the RIAA that it sold 30 units, or in the RIAA's case that it only had 20 units left. Otherwise, that would be considered fraud and then all hell would break loose. Or put it in even simpler terms: You're a store owner. You order 100 units of BTR and you sell 70 units. You then have to report to the RIAA that you only have 30 units left of BTR. That's how the RIAA comes up with its number of units sold.

Out of that list, Burger King makes the best burgers but McDonald's has the best fries. I prefer Subway and my Chicago heads will know of a fast food chain called Portillo's. Their burgers are the best I've ever tasted.
-
Again, the RIAA counts SALES only. If it were measured on the basis of shipments, then just about everyone would gold or platinum. Most big record labels ship 500,000 - 1 million copies for established artists like Will. The RIAA counts shipments minus sales from all markets that legitimately sell music. Sony probably shipped out a million and got back less than half of a million. Don't get confused over the shipment minus sales stuff. Gold and Platinum certifications are based strictly on how many CDs were sold, not shipped.

Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith
TopDawg14 replied to TopDawg14's topic in Caught in the Middle
Revenge Of The Sith broke the 4-day box office record with $158.5 million. It also became the 3rd fastest movie to reach $100 million behind Spider-Man and The Matrix Reloaded. It will be interesting to see what kind of legs it will have over the next several weeks. I'm still thinking it finish somewhere around the $450 million mark. There were so many things that came to me after I saw the movie. In a sense, the prophecy about the "chosen one" bringing balance to the Force eventually happened when Darth Vader killed the Emperor in Return Of The Jedi. There are so many other revelations but I don't want to ruin it for those who haven't seen it yet. -
Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith
TopDawg14 replied to TopDawg14's topic in Caught in the Middle
I just got back from seeing Episode III and I was just blown away by all of the action in the movie. I would agree that some of the dialogue left a little to be desired but it gets lost in the fact that you're completely amazed with the action and special effects. I actually liked Episodes I & II and after now seeing Episode III, I can fully understand why George Lucas chose this route to tell the rise & fall of Anakin Skywalker. You will fully appreciate Episodes I & II once you see Episode III. I really liked the ending and how it sets you up for Episodes IV-VI. Star Wars Episode III was the movie I've been waiting 22 years for and trust fam, it did not disappoint. The movie is mind-blowing!!! A+++++ :thumb: :thumb: -
From the RIAA.com website: Certification The Process The certification process begins with an independent sales audit of each title by Gelfand, Rennert & Feldman, a highly respected accounting firm that has been auditing title sales for the RIAA® for more than 20 years. The audit calculates what product has been shipped for sale, net after returns, versus product used for promotional purposes, for the life of the release. When certifying audio and music video releases, the independent auditor is careful to survey the entire music marketplace. An artist's Gold® or Platinum® award represents sales through retail, record clubs, rackjobbers, and all other ancillary markets that legitimately distribute music. Once a title’s sales has been audited and verified as having reached requisite levels, a formal certification report is issued and sent to the title's record company. We are often asked why we don’t just use sales figures from SoundScan. SoundScan measures over-the-counter sales at music retail locations, while the RIAA®'s certification levels are based on unit shipments (minus returns) from manufacturers to a wide range of accounts, including non-retail record clubs, mail order houses, specialty stores, units shipped for Internet fulfillment or direct marketing sales, such as TV-advertised albums. The other difference is that SoundScan's archive is only a few years old, while the RIAA® has tracked artists' sales levels for more than 40 years. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The reason it gets so confused is that most people just use Soundscan numbers. Soundscan doesn't take into account the mom & pop record stores, internet sales and other types of stores that may sell music. Soundscan only scans CDs from the big retailers(Best Buy, Target, Circuit City, etc.). So according to Soundscan numbers, Born To Reign sold a little over 237,000 records. When you add in all other types of sales, that pushed BTR to Gold Status. Born To Reign has sold over 500,000 records, it's just that Soundscan does not take into account all other types of sales. YOU CAN NOT BE CERTIFIED GOLD UNLESS YOU SELL 500,000 CDS. I hope this puts an end to this debate.
