Exactly. Kayne West is about Kayne West. He did overcome a lot of stuff to make it big but there's also a thing about humility which he is lacking in.
-
Why does it not surprise me that Kayne pitched a fit over losing the best new artist award? He can be a bit arrogant at times. AJ is right; there have been a number of better MCs that never won an award(Busta Rhymes comes to mind) but didn't pitch a fit about it. At least Kayne didn't walk on the stage in front of people like 50 Cent(another crybaby) did.

Well said, AJ. I'm not sure if FP would have benefited more being at Jive. Like AJ said, it's a business and it's all about moving units. If you move them, they love you; if you don't then it bon voyage(just ask Brandy about Atlantic). I think FP is making the right move here by doing his own thing. I've been saying for a couple of years now that with the technology artists really don't need labels, just distributors. Cut out the middle man and control your music and image.

I liked Daphne Maxwell-Reid as Aunt Viv. And yes, it's true that Janet sued Will & the producers. There are all types of rumors running around as to the replacement of Janet. I honestly think she didn't like the fact that Will was the new kid on the block and upstaging her. She is a trained actress and Will was basically new to the game. I think there was some jealousy on her part and probably some blame on Will's too.

Since I want Will to do more movies that are Oscar-worthy, I'll take the Chris Gardener project. I may be one of the few people who wants to see Will do more movies. I'm cool with him as far as music goes. He's sold over 25 million records and won 4 Grammys. While I would love to hear new music from Will, I'm not in a big rush. I would rather see Will win an Oscar instead of another platinum plaque or Grammy.

AJ, I wanted to put a Busta Rhymes album on my list but I couldn't decide. I really liked the coming but if I had to choose one of his albums it would have been When Disaster Strikes. Also, Beats, Rhymes, and Life was good but I don't know if I could put it in the classic category. The Low End Theory & Midnight Marauders were Tribe's classic albums. Just my opinion, though.

I know we like to have discussions about what we would consider to be classic albums. With hip-hop being 30 years old, that discussion would be endless so here's a different spin on it. We would pretty much agree that the golden age of hip-hop ended around '93(give or take a year) so which albums since 1994 would be a classic album? Here are my submissions: De La Soul - Stakes Is High(1996) Will Smith - Willennium(1999) Nas - Illmatic(1994) The Fugees - The Score(1996) Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill(1998) Outkast - Stankonia(2000)

For all things box-office, I have found that the best site is Box Office Mojo. They seem to have the best info there as opposed to other box-office sites.

After raking in more than $7 million this weekend, Sharktale now has grossed over $146 million domestically passing I, Robot on the domestic box-office list. I, Robot has grossed over $144 million and now ranks #8 on the yearly box-office list. Sharktale is now 7th but will have a hard time getting to #6(The Bourne Supremacy is at #6 with over $175 million). :thumb:
