Will & Jada Attends The Premiere Of "ray"
TopDawg14 replied to lilkimzone's topic in Will Smith Movies
great pics! jada looks fine as ever(will is mad lucky... i need a jada in my life). will is looking older and more dignified. i guess he can't be young looking forever. it looks as if he's aged a little bit. -

I don't see the correlation between the VH1 Honors thing and this latest controversey. I believe has KRS-One has the right to say what he wants to say. I don't think race has anything to do with being a good leader. It's about how the person is and how closely he/she guards his/her values. I think the issues and problems regarding blacks in the community should be handled by us(yes, I am black). I do believe it takes a village to raise a child but ultimately each person has the responsibility to govern his/herself to do the right things in life. While I believe that as a people, we have been historically put behind the eight-ball, we still have a responsibility to govern ourselves with morals, values, and discipline.

I really don't know what to make of this statement. It is so over-the-top that I can't really comment on it. I for one was not cheering when 9/11 happened so I don't know what he's talking about. :what: :confused3:

This is what I've been saying for years now. Rap has been watered down to the point where I don't even want to listen to it. I haven't bought a rap(if you count Christian rap then I have) CD in almost 2 years(The Roots' Phrenology was the last CD I bought). It saddens me that people like Mos Def, The Roots, Talib Kweli and others aren't being played all that much on radio and TV. Like I've said over and over again, the industry is interested in what's hot right now as opposed to real talent. There has to be a change in hip-hop if it's going to survive another 30 years. With the internet I think that change is coming. It's time for artists to bypass the industry and promote their music through the internet. I'm really happy that Will is putting out his music on his own label. We need more artists to have control over their music instead of board room exec. telling artists what's "real". If it sounds like I'm angry it's because I am. I'm feeling what this article is saying. I love hip-hop because I grew up on it(I'm almost 30) but I have outgrown it. Hip-Hop hasn't evolved and grown up with me and it's very upsetting. You're supposed to mature as you get older and to me it feels like hip-hop hasn't matured.

Sharktale $300 Million Worldwide... and counting
TopDawg14 replied to Hero1's topic in Will Smith Movies
Updated Numbers: Domestic Box Office: $94.0 million Overseas Box Office: $21.7 million Worldwide Box Office: $115.7 million With Sharktale having been on the screens for only 11 days, it already ranks #15 on the domestic yearly list and #24 on the worldwide yearly list. :thumb: -
Here is a case where a video can save a song. Lose It is a remedial, juvenile song but the video is completely hilarious. I like the video because it's so over-the-top silly. Lose It belongs in that category with Thong Song. These songs would be wack but the video is what makes the song a hit. I'm sure Eminem has more serious singles ahead. In fact, he has a single called "Mosh" where be completely rips the Bush Administration. Grade for song Lose It: D- Grade for video: B+ Overall Grade: C-

Pippen was my 2nd favorite player too. I'm from Chicago so I go to experience the Bulls' dynasty up close and personal. It always seemed to me that Scottie didn't get the props he deserved from the Chicago media and some of the fans here in Chicago. I constantly defended Scottie in basketball debates. Scottie Pippen was one of the greatest NBA to ever play. He revolutionized the small forward position. Here you had a guy who could shoot, pass, dribble, rebound, run the offense and defend... FROM THE SMALL FORWARD POSITION. He was the K.G.(Kevin Garnett) of the 90's. I think Scottie was just as important to those 6 titles as MJ was. He definitely had a great career and he is a sure first ballot Hall Of Famer. As far as fave teams go, I'll always be a Bulls fan first and foremost. I guess my other team would be the Spurs because Tim Duncan is my favorite player in the league right now. Oh by the way, LAKERS SUCK!!!! :thumb:

I'm so happy I was wrong about my predictions. Despite the critics basically trashing this movie, THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!!!!! Congrats to Will and the whole Sharktale gang for another #1 weekend at the box office. :thumb:  -

Opening Weekend: $38.7 million
are you serious TD :scared2: every will smith movie opens at abt 50 million..and sharktale is on over 4, 000 screens , that abt 800 more than i robot.. id be absolutely shocked if sharktale opened with less than 40 million!
There is a movie coming out here in the U.S. called Ladder 49 with John Travolta and Joaquin Phoenix. It's been getting a lot of positive buzz here in the U.S. and I took that into account for the lower than usual opening weekend for Sharktale. I have a funny feeling that Ladder 49 will give Sharktale a little trouble... just a little.

According to the internet review website, Rotten Tomatoes, Sharktale is pretty rotten. The Fresh/Rotten meter stands at 32% with the "cream of the crop" critics giving the movie(on average) a 5.3 rating out of ten. The movie also opens on over 4,000 screens in the U.S. I predicted this movie would be "whacked" by critics and unfortunately I am right. Let's hope the fans prove the critics wrong... like they usually do.

Will Smith signed to interscope records
TopDawg14 replied to lilkimzone's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I hate to burst everyone's bubble but there is no statement whatsoever about Will signing to Interscope on Interscope's website. I know this isn't "the sign" but if a person of Will's stature generates absolutely no buzz on the label's official website then.... I'm not saying anything, I'm just saying... -
Morgan Weisser was in Prayer Of The Rollerboys with Patricia Arquette. Arquette was in Stigmata with the ever-so-fine Nia Long. Long co-starred with Jamie Foxx in the dreadful Held Up and of course, Foxx earned rave reviews in Ali which starred Will Smith. Will Smith to... Larry Hagman.

I have a feeling Shark Tale is going to get a lot of bad press here in the U.S. There was a big stink I read in the Chicago Sun-Times saying the movie depicts Italian-Americans in a distasteful light and it is racist. I've also heard that the dialogue in the movie is too explicit for kids. They're also trying to compare this movie to Finding Nemo when everyone involved with Shark Tale has said that this movie is not even remotely close in comparison to Finding Nemo. Oh well, I fear the trashing of the movie will begin... :dunno:

Wasn't this topic supposed to be about laughing at people who wanted to "take over" this board? I agree with AJ to a degree. The whole "gangsta" image in rap and hip-hop is just that - an image. 50 Cent did do some dirt but to suggest that he's still doing dirt is ludicrous. This guy is not living in the hood; he's living in a well-protected, high-end community. No real "gangsta" is going to openly talk about the dirt he's done, is doing and is going to do. 50, G-Unit and all of these cats are studio gangstas. They will tell images of that lifestyle because it sells and makes them a lot of money. They have to play the "thug" image to the hilt in order to maintain their street cred - end of story. What they do is not real hip-hop. I consider NWA real hip-hop because they told stories that a lot of people have never heard before. It made money for them and soon everyone copied their formula to make money. Whatever is hot, people will copy it to make money. It's not about the art form, IT'S ABOUT THE MONEY!
