As of Tuesday, July 27th, I, Robot has grossed over $100 million dollars at the box office. It looks to finish in the $130-150 million dollar range. Congrats Will on another hit movie!

AJ, you sound so shocked. :bowrofl: Nelly relying on formulas to make money? I, too, am shocked and appalled that he stoop to a level that only... 95% of other rappers do. :bowrofl:

Other than The Passion Of The Christ, this movie was the best movie I've seen this year. It had it all - drama, comedy and action. I thought Will's performance was his best since Ali. The special effects were crazy!! I would definitely go and see this movie again!! :thumb: :jig:

Spider-Man 2 pulled in an estimated $46 million this past weekend to take the #1 spot again this weekend. Will Ferrell's new movie, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy(which was a funny movie by the way) was second with $28 million. Spider-Man 2 has now pulled in an astonishing $257 million in just 12 days and shows no signs of slowing down. My question to the fam is this: Can I, Robot overtake Spider-Man 2 this weekend?

Are you sure this time, AJ? LOL! I'll be sure to catch it. Needless to say I was pissed when I recorded TRL last Friday thinking Will would be on and it was the Matt Damon Hour. Matt Damon's cool and all but it was a waste of an hour as far as I'm concerned.

I think my biggest pet peeve is the mass commercialization of hip-hop. I will stand behind my statement that hip-hop died when Dr. Dre's Chronic album came out. Dre didn't kill it but rather the industry did. The industry saw what Dre did and all of a sudden you had a bunch of copycat rappers. Whatever is hot then everybody will copy it. Other pet peeves: * Cursing. You can gritty lyrics without all the profanity. It annoys me when you're listening to a song on the radio and over half the song's been edited. * Lack of responsibility. Rappers have got to understand that they are role models and they shouldn't be pushing all of this trash into the minds of young kids(and they're the majority of listeners). Redman admitted that there was a lot of trash in music but rappers do it because it sells. I don't buy that. * Abuse of women. All of these "booty" videos and songs are just ridiculous. And the women who rap about that stuff are no better than the guys. Have respect for our women!! * Materialism. The bling, bling this and car that is just wack to me. Put out lyrics that make a person think and dream. How many different ways can you rap about how much money, guns, girls and weed you have? * The industry itself is spewing out posion and making stars of people who really aren't talented. I'm sorry lambertj3, 50 Cent is not talented. Neither is Ja Rule, Nelly, Ludacris and about 95% of all rappers out there now. Give me real hip-hop and not this cookie-cutter version of it. Give me real lyrics about life. Stop working with the same producers. Try exploring the horizons of music instead of settling for the lowest common denominator. Bottom line, rap music, and music in general, is on life-support.

New album might come out by christmas
TopDawg14 replied to Big Ben's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
That was a cool interview. A worldwide hip-hop album? That would be extremely crazy... and unique. I seriously doubt a lot of these wack rappers today would even dream about a concept like that. I hope Will starts to do more serious movies sooner rather than later. I want to see him win an Oscar! Can't wait for the album to come out this Christmas. -
I'm Charles from the world's greatest city, Chicago. BTW, Welcome to the board, Tanya.

I think Jada is wrong. Every man on the planet needs a woman like Jada Pinkett Smith in their life. I know I do. Damn, she's so fine. Check out Getty Images to see the photos from the "I, Robot" Premiere. Getty Images

This was without a doubt the funniest JJFP song of all-time. The whole style and concept was totally funny. I just wished they would have made a video for this song. It would have been hilarious.

AJ: Actually, it's G, G, G, G... G-A-Y Unit. People have the right to be critical of artists they like or don't like. It's nothing personal against 50 Cent. It's just that his flow is pathetic and his lyrical content is pretty much that of raw sewage. 50 Cent is about as creative with his music as BET is with its programming. I don't like Mase either nor do I like his new song, Welcome Back. The song would have been hot... if it came out 7-8 years ago. It sounds kinda wack and the video is any better. I applaud him for not talking about women, drinking and sex but the fact remains that he can't rap. His flow is annoying. The very fact that he's back with Bad Boy lets me know that he won't keep this "clean" act up forever.

Ali ranked #21 on ESPN's list of the 25 greatest sports movies of all-time. Leave it to a bitter Spike Lee to say that the movie was incredibly boring. In case you didn't know, Spike Lee was passed over to direct in favor of Michael Mann. He also said that he tried to get past the surface and all that the movie was to him was surface. For the record, I loved Ali and felt Will should have won the Oscar for his portrayal of Muhammad Ali. In the words of Will, "Don't say nothing". Spike really showed how bitter he was and they could have left his comments out of the piece.

Don't forget that Will is making another TRL appearance this week. I believe it's either Thursday or Friday. Check MTV.com to see if they any more info on Will's appearance.

We've had this discussion before about BTR but what the heck, let's do it again. Born To Reign was possibly the most slept-on album of 2002. A lot of people thought this album wasn't all that good because Will didn't follow the formula that got him so much success in previous albums. I loved the album for just that reason. Will was eager to experiment and try out different things. I love the title track. It really speaks about the state of rap today(Are you listening 50 Cent?). My favorite tracks on the album are Act Like You Know, Block Party, I Can't Stop and Nothin' On My Mind. I think Will could have added another song and dropped the BSC remix but all-in-all Born To Reign was a really good album.

For some reason, Bizarre is funny to me. I agree his skills are whack but Vanilla Ice and Benzino are far worse. Even as bad as Vanilla Ice was he is not as bad as Benzino. My vote for the whackest rapper of all-time is BENZINO!!!!

top dawg you call wanksta pop? no thats gangsta, 21 questions is r&b , none of them songs are pop, what ja rule does is pop . Have you seen 50 dress up like grease for a music video? now to the vote benzino is trash (becuz he dissed my boy 50)
I don't think any of these guys are pop, they just make Rap 4 the mainstream with no consider of it's real roots. I don't like Ja-Rule, but who cares if he based a music video off Grease. I think the IDEA of it waz great, but Murder Inc. sucked at pulling it off. Another thing, thinking an artist sucks becuz they dissed your favorite artist is the stupidest thing i've ever heard. Kool Moe Dee and Wyclef dissed L.L. in the past (one of my top favs)...but that dosen't mean i'ma stop liking them and their music....that's just silly.
I'll agree with AJ that the music that 50 & Ja Rule do is rap that's geared toward mainstream audiences. I'll also agree that it's a little stupid to vote for a rapper because he dissed someone you like. We're supposed to be evaluating the rapper's skills... or lack thereof. Lambert, you are missing my point partly because you're loyal to 50(and that's cool; you can like who you want to). 50 came in dissing Ja Rule for making mainstream tracks and then he basically does the same thing. 50 Cent hasn't done anything new to change the game. He is talking about the same things everybodydoes(cars, jewelry, girls, etc.). His videos are boring at best and his lyrics are just that - garbage. Oh by the way, Benzino wins in a sweep 5-0!

I doubt they'll think about doing a sequel until they see the box office take and dvd rentals/sales. I know that's how they did it for The Bourne Identity. They weren't going to do a sequel until they saw that the movie cleaned up in dvd rentals(It was the most rented film of 2003). Depending on how the film is presented there may not be a sequel. I would like to see Will with another franchise since Bad Boys III won't happen and MIB III looks iffy at best.
TOP DAWG i heard the remix to jt cry me a river that was barely any rapping on that track and it sounds like it was just pasted together anyway because the rhymes didn't even go with the song. and still 50 isnt SINGING HE IS RAPPING, hell ive seen will singing on hooks what you gonna call him r and b now?
First off: Will never dissed another cat for singing on records and then turned around and did the same thing. All I'm saying is 50 dissed Ja Rule(who I don't like either) for making "pop" tracks and singing on hooks and songs and 50 is making "pop" tracks and singing on hooks. How are you going to diss a cat for being pop and then basically follow the same playbook? To me, that's the definition of biting. Now to the vote: This is too easy as well. Benzino is far worse than Lil' Romeo. Benzino's claim to fame is a song called.... Bootie. Bootie?!?!?! Are you kidding me? Benzino is the true definition of wackness.
commons "bitch in yoo" diss to dre? i think was a great track..
Actually Common's "B*&^%$ In Yoo" was a diss track to Ice Cube... and a good one at that. I think LL Cool J vs. Kool Moe Dee was the best battle. They kept that up for years. I still think Kool Moe Dee won with "Let's Go" when he had that verse where he said what LL stood for. Classic battle.
Vanilla ice is wack but top dawg was wrong in saying 50 is doing the same thing ja was doing because ja is SINGING on tracks doing duets with female singers while 50 is actually RAPPING NOT SINGING LIKE RULE lets get that straight
Oh so that wasn't 50 singing hooks on Wanksta, P.I.M.P., Stuntin' 101 and just about every other G-Unit record? Come on man, be real. Isn't this the same 50 Cent who claims to be so hardcore but drops verses on the remix of Justin Timberlake's Cry Me River? It will only be a matter of time before you see 50 with some pop singer on a track. 50 is just as "pop" and as wack as Ja Rule. Oh yeah, just to make things interesting I'll place my vote for Diddy even though I know Bizarre will probably win this round.
