1. Since Vanilla Ice won 5-2 I'll just offer my opinion. Vanilla Ice was bad - very bad but Ja Rule sunk to even new lows with his albums. If you look closely though these two rappers have basically gone down the same path. Vanilla Ice's first single Ice Ice Baby was hot(whether we like to admit or not) and so was Ja's first single, Holla, Holla. They both went on to sell a truckload of records and become pop stars. They also crashed and burned in the quite the same manner. Allow me to explain: Vanilla Ice: He made himself look really foolish when he tried to explain that he didn't steal the beat for Ice Ice Baby. He went from being a "hood" to being a flashy, Hammer-like artist. The coup-de-gras was his song for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles soundtrack. He then tried to come back as a weed-smoking, hard-core gangsta rapper and... well you know how that turned out. Ja Rule - made himself look silly by singing hooks and doing straight bubble-gum pop tracks. He went from being "gangsta" to performing with J. Lo. The coup-de-gras for Ja was doing the video for Mesmerize(he took the theme from... Grease?). And let's not forget being dissed by 50 Cent(who ironically is doing the same thing Ja Rule was doing) and having his career smashed to bits. He then tries to come back as... a gangsta rapper(wow! how original). I rest my case.
2. That was way too easy. Of course Lil' Romeo is wack. Lil' Romeo wins 5-0.
3. ID4 is probably my favorite Will movie and probably the movie I've seen the most. Second place goes to MIB II.
4. My vote goes for Chingy. Chingy may be the worst rapper... ever. Oh wait, I forgot about Nelly, Cassidy, Ja Rule, 50 Cent, Fabolous and about 98% of all rappers out right now. Chingy is just plain wack!!!!
5. I can tolerate P. Diddy the producer but his rhymes are pretty brutal. I liked "Bad Boys 4 Life" and "Diddy" mainly because of the beats. JD is wack as well. His best rhyme was on "Funkadified" with Da Brat. Neither one of these dudes are MCs. Since everyone else voted for Diddy, I'll make it interesting and put my vote in for Jermaine Dupri. BTW: I missed Nelly/Ja Rule vote but my vote would have been for Nelly
6.
Hey guys!! Thought we could play this little game where we decide who is the WORST rapper of all time!!! I've shortlisted 10 rappers and i'll put them against each other. You just have to decide who is the worst out of the two and that 'rapper' progresses to the next round!!! I've chosen who i think are the worst ten as we would never come to a decision as to who should have made it!! The 'rapper' who receives 5 votes first progresses!! Remember your voting for the WORST rapper!!! Here goes: MASTER P ~Vs~ VANILLA ICE
Vanilla Ice wins this round 5 votes to 2. On to the next victims!!!!
7.
excuse me for saying this but columbia records seems full of sh&% to do will like that
It's not just Will. Sony has dropped Michael Jackson, Jazzy Jeff, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill and Wyclef. They didn't even think enough of Alicia Keys to sign her. Columbia is a wasteland for real artists... just ask dead prez.
8. These playoffs for the most part have been brutal. However, I'm still STOKED over the fact the Lakers got their lunch handed to them. It wasn't even close. The Fakers went down in flames. Even if Malone was healthy(and he was healthy for Games 1 & 2) it wouldn't have mattered 'cause the Fakers suck!!! Detroit just opened a can of whup-&%$ on the Fakers. I'm also happy because Malone & Payton still don't have rings. I never liked them anyway. They are very arrogant but then again they fit right in with the personality-challenged, self-absorbed Kobe Bryant. They(Fakers fans and bandwagon jumpers) talked all that noise about the NBA should just give the title to L.A. cuz it's all wrapped up. NOT!!!! LAKERS SUCK!! LAKERS SUCK!!! LAKERS SUCK!!!! :bowrofl: :dancingcool:  :thumb:
9. First of all, Sony didn't drop Will Smith. His deal with Sony was up and it was Will who didn't want to renew with Sony. Second, the industry is messed up right now because it's not about talent; it's about who can do whatever is necessary to sell records. Will has integrity and he's not going to sell out to sell records. I don't think his rap prospects have dried up but rather the music industry is dried up and tired.
10. Let me offer my opinion on this: Vanilla Ice was a wack rapper and I'm sure we all know this but cats were up on "Ice Ice Baby" before V.I. started going the "MC Hammer" route with the shiny outfits. I think he would have gotten more respect if he would have had an identity that he stuck to. That being said, he truly lost respect when he did that song for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles soundtrack. Master P has been wack from the moment he stepped on the scene. He has basically used the same formula for every album he's made and I can't think of one song from Master P that I like. At least when "Ice Ice Baby" first came out I liked it a little. My vote goes for: Master P
11. This ought to be a good subject. What are some the of best "posse cuts" you have ever heard? Here are some of mine: A Tribe Called Quest feat. 13.
topdawg i kinda agree with what your saying..will has released 8 albums over sum 120 traxs.. so we really should be happy with that..most artists dont get 2 do that... but born to reign just left me with a feeling of will can do better..and ive been dying to hear him again on the mic since then.. as far as wills acting.. a lot can go wrong with movies (see W3) and will doesnt have much control over them..i enjoy his movies but nowhere near the level i enjoy his music.. if u look at the next 4 or 5 movies wills gonna do none of them will get him an oscar... id rather see will be more selective with his roles..and only do 1 movie a year..then he can put more focus into his music...i dont think he should quit music anytime soon..jeffs 4 years older than will and still going strong
Hero1, Actually Will has control over the movies he makes. He gets to choose what movies to do. Whether or not they're successful depends on the audience. WWW didn't do so well but then again neither did B2R. A lot can go wrong with music as well. Personally, I liked B2R a lot. I appreciated the fact Will wanted to experiment with his music a little bit. As far as winning acting awards go, hopefully he'll do the Chris Gardner(?) project. It's supposed to be a real serious flick and usually those type of movies get you nominated for awards. I'd like to see him do about 2-3 movies a year. I think he can still do music while working on movies. And the reason Jeff is still doing music is because he's not an artist in the sense that Will is. Jeff doing music as a DJ or producer.
14. THE LAKERS SUCK!!!! I HOPE THEY LOSE!!! EVEN IF THEY WIN, THEY STILL SUCK!!!
15. Any song from the following artists: Nelly 50 Cent G-Unit Master P Cash Money Ludacris(except Southern Hospitality) Lil' Kim Eminem(except Stan, I Am and his 1st CD) Chingy Cassidy 99% of all rappers out right now
16. The state of Hip-Hop, in my opinion, goes as follows: 1. It's all about money and business. The minute that hip-hop became mainstream is when hip-hop began going down the tubes. On the one hand, it's great that hip-hop got this exposure but hip-hop got swallowed up by greed, money and success(remember Will's line in Born To Reign: "States have been altered by liquor, by weed/while hate gets exalted as art falls to greed."). The art form that was the basis for hip-hop has been replaced by money, cars and other forms of materialism. 2. Where are the great MCs? In the 80's you had cats like KRS-One, LL, Kool Moe Dee, Latifah, Fresh Prince, Chuck D, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, etc, etc. All of them are great MCs and all with a different style. Who would be considered great today? Not many in my book. Jay-Z has one of the best flows I have ever heard in my life but 9 times out of 10 he wastes his flow on garbage lyrics. Nas? Which Nas is it? The Nas that does "I Can" and Illmatic or the Nas that does "Oochie Wally"? Tupac? Before he joined Death Row he was on his way to hall of fame status but his time at Death Row killed that status. Biggie? I like Biggie(like Jay-Z he had a crazy flow) but most of lyrics weren't meaningful. The rest of today's rappers(50 Cent, Ja Rule and everybody else)are basically straight garbage. Common, Black Though of the Roots, Mos Def, and Talib Kweli are great MCs but they are few are far between. 3. At some point we as fans of true hip-hop are going to have to take back the music before it's completely destroyed. If we want change then we have to let these artists and labels know that the music that's out now IS NOT HIP-HOP! The only way for the music industry to understand is for us to stop buying and listening to all of this garbage. We have to show these wack artists(do you hear me 50 Cent?) and labels that we control the music and not them. Stop settling for hot garbage on wax and start demanding a higher quality of music.
17. That's a tough one. I'm not sure I can do that. All I know is that Janet makes some of the hottest videos out there. So I'll just list my top 5 sexiest Janet vids: 1. Janet - Pleasure Principle 2. Janet - Anytime, Anyplace 3. Janet - Love Will Never Do Without You 4. Janet - If 5. Janet - I Get Lonely
18. I may be the only person on this board who thinks Will should do more movies. I love Will's music as much as everyone else on this board but I think he should release his music when he totally feels good about it. I would like to hear new music from him but I'm not in any rush. I'm more concerned with Will having complete control and satisfaction with the music he puts out. Another reason I want to see Will do more movies is because I want him to win an Academy Award. He's got 4 Grammy Awards and countless types of other music awards. I want to see him more acting awards. We've had this discussion over and over again. I just think that Will doesn't have anything to prove musically. He's sold nearly 30 million records worldwide and has won jsut about every music award possible. At some point he's going to stop rapping for good and focus 100% on acting. I think he's slowly moving toward that mark. I think it's a good thing for Will to concentrate more on acting. By no means do I feel he should quit rapping now but I do think that he should only release his music when he feels completely good about it.
19. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! :afro: :peace: :dancingcool: :thumb:
20. When I saw the trailer for this movie 6 months I thought this was going to be the coolest movie of the summer(outside of I, Robot of course). I was highly disappointed when I saw the movie. The first 45 minutes were pretty good but the rest of it was like hot garbage on wood. I thought the movie was really cheezy and lacked the punch and charisma that ID4 had. My recommendation? Wait for this movie to go to Blockbuster. I dropped $8.25 on this movie and needless to say I could have found better use for that money.
21. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! :thumb: :afro:
22. I'm gonna go with: $156.7 million in the U.S. $123.5 million everywhere else grand total of $280 million
23. 1. The Rain 2. Block Party 3. I'm Comin' 4. Holla Back 5. Afro Angel 6. Act Like You Know 7. Yes Yes Y'all 8. Y'all Know 9. Uuhhh 10. I Can't Stop
24. The Beastie Boys are one of the pioneers of hip-hop. They have maintained longevity by always experimenting with their music while remaining true to the hip-hop culture. I'm with AJ - I'm really feeling their new song. Their first CD is a hip-hop classic and my all-time favorite Beastie Boys song is "Sabotage". The song and the video was just sick.
25. :thumb: Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone. I truly appreciate it. I'll be doing most of my celebrating this weekend(for starters I'm going to check out that disaster flick, The Day After Tomorrow). I can't believe I'm 29. 30 used to be around the corner from me - now it's standing right in front of me. Again, thanks for the birthday wishes. :afro:
