1. It would be a great idea for Will to release it over the internet. I think he should bypass big record labels altogether. I think he could make more money if he released it to places like ITunes or Napster.com. I want Will to have complete control over his music and if he's on some big label then he won't have complete control. They'll try to make him compete with these wack rappers out there when they should be focused on REAL HIP-HOP MUSIC!
2. I find myself listening to mix CDs I made and those CDs have songs from all the albums. I agree with Hero1. I find myself vibin' with more of JJFP's serious tracks. Maybe I'm just getting older. LOL
3. Carlton's dance is better... especially when he puts on the Tom Jones song.
4. I'm watching 106 & Park(Friday's show) and Free tells the audience that the Old School Joint video is coming up and that it's a "Summertime" classic. The trivia question for the old school joint goes as follows: Can you name the DJ whose real name is Jeff Townes? Free was a bit startled that very few people had their hands up to answer. So she brings on this guy and a girl to answer the trivia question. She goes to the guy first and reads the question. The guy's answer... DJ Clue. :cussing: :eek4: DJ CLUE?!?!?!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW WHO DJ JAZZY JEFF IS??? I was so disgutsted. Needless to say the girl got it right but she looked like she was over 21. This is why rap today sucks. These kids don't know about the pioneers of hip-hop. They don't know the history. All they know is what's hot now(50,Luda, etc.) They don't even understand that if it weren't for the pioneers paving the way then these cats wouldn't even be able to make music.
5.

I would go to see Shark Tale just for her
Let's keep in mind she's ANIMATED in the movie... ... :eek4:
I should have worded that better. I would go see the movie because she's in it - not to look at her in her animated form. You got me. P.S. She is fine, though.
6. At 17 years old I started running the streets/ Man I had some fun in the streets/ 11, 12, sometimes 1 in the streets/ by 18 I started seeing the sun in the streets - Momma Knows
7. Will is being as goofy as ever. As I said in another post, Angelina Jolie is so fine! I would go to see Shark Tale just for her... seriously.
8. Great pics! I don't know about y'all but Angelina Jolie is STRAIGHT FIRE!!!! I've been feeling her since '99 when she was in The Bone Collector with Denzel Washington. She is true wifey material!
9. Don't even think about it/ 6 gun weighing a ton/ 10 paces and turn just for fun, son - Wild Wild West
10. I've never been a big fan of Usher's so I'll go with Justin... as long as he continues to work with nice producers like the Neptunes. I liked Justified. It was a clear departure from his 'NSYNC days and I thought that was cool. Both are biting off Michael Jackson but I don't think Justin bites as hard and that's what puts him over the top for me.
11. - From June '04 Premiere Magazine Issue His appeal cuts across all demos. Bad Boys II was a top-ten grosser, but too top-heavy for much profit. Don't expect a part three. His Overbrook Entertainment and Nickelodeon Movies hope to hit The Mark, a supernatural thriller that'll star Smith and spin off as an animated TV series. Next: Sci-fi spectable I,Robot and Shark Tale. Yes It's True: Man enough to nuzzle with wife Jada between takes of action scenes in I, Robot. * Also: Will be joining George Clooney and Leonardo DiCaprio for Stephen Gaghan's Syrianna.
12. I'll sum up today's rap in this one example. When 50 Cent came out he was dissin' Ja Rule for having his shirt off, making pop tracks and singing on hooks. Well what is 50 Cent doing now? He's taking his shirt off in videos, making pop tracks and singing on hooks. Rap has been brutal for the last 8+ years. I believe hip-hop died when Dr. Dre released The Chronic. While it was a great hip-hop album, it served as the basis for what every rapper had to do(thugged-out, gansta videos, etc.). Record companies started realizing that this was the style to make money so everybody started copying it. When Biggie & Puffy started name-dropping(Versace, Cristal, etc.) everybody followed suit. Whatever the trend is in rap today then that's what the vast majority of rappers will do. Rap will only change when people get tired of it. The problem is that we've got a generation of young people who don't know what good music is and are easily influenced by marketing tricks. Here's an example of kids not knowing hip-hop history: After BET premiered Jay-Z's video "99 Problems" on 106 & Park they went to the audience to get a reaction. One guy said that he liked the girls in the video and wanted to see "the girls shaking". He thought the video wasn't that good and wanted Jay-Z to have more girls in the video. He also didn't know who the bearded guy was in the video. It was Rick Rubin. RICK RUBIN!!!! How can you claim to love rap & hip-hop and not know who Rick Rubin is(and for those of you who don't know, Rick Rubin is the co-founder of Def Jam Records and is responsible for starting the careers of Run-DMC, LL Cool J and The Beastie Boys to name a few)? Hip-hop has lost its soul. Rappers, producers, DJs, and fans alike have sold hip-hop's soul for money, mainstream success and bling bling.
13. She said what's wrong this shirt cost $20/ I said Mom, this shirt's plaid with a buttefly collar The next half hour was the same old thing/ My mom buying me clothes from 1963 I said Mom what are you doing? You'll ruin my rep/ She said you're only 16 you don't have a rep yet - Parents Just Don't Understand
14. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AJ!!!!!! :afro: :dancingcool:
15. 850 IS if you need a lift/ Who's the kid in the drop who's else Will Smith/ Living that life some consider a myth/ Rocking South Street to 125th. - Gettin' Jiggy Wit It 3 hits, I hit you, you hit the floor/ This track is the 3rd hit that's for sure. - Freakin' It At age 17, the first pain, the hurricane/ Her 1st name still conjurs the rain I'm Noah; life's my ark/ 40 days and 40 nights still can't take my heart. - The Rain
16. Old school hip-hop had creativity and originality. You had different styles of hip-hop and all of these styles had a piece of the spotlight. You had cats who were political(KRS-One, Public Enemy, X-Clan), dance-oriented(Heavy D. & The Boyz, Salt-N-Pepa, Kid-N-Play, MC Hammer), light-hearted and comical(JJFP, Biz Markie), and cats who were straigh lyricists(Eric B. & Rakim). No one wanted to bite another MC's style. He/She wanted to have their own thing and that's what made hip-hop so great. I think old-school ranges from the late 70's to around 1990. New school is completely devoid of originality and creativity. New school is driven by money and when that happens, hip-hop loses its soul. Everybody is trying to be the next somebody. It all sounds like everybody's auditioning to be the next Tupac or the next Biggie. Most of the music and lyrics are straight garbage and if you go outside the norm, you'll most likely be ignored. There are exceptions to the rule(Outkast, Kayne West) but generally all of the music sounds like one long, boring club song. Another thing that separates the two are the lyrics. With old-school hip-hop, I didn't have to worry about a lot of cursing and filthy lyrics. Now it's the norm. You can't even hear about half the song because they're editing the lyrics.
17. I'm all over the map. I've been listening to 90's R&B lately with groups like Boyz II Men, Tony! Toni! Tone!, Jamiroquai and others. I'm also digging cats like Jason Mraz, Dido, U2. I'm really digging Christian hip-hop(KJ-52, Cross Movement). It's so much more positive and inspirational as opposed to the nonsense that's out today. Check out my CD collection and you'll get a real feel for what I'm into.
18.
yeah darkness makes more sense..actually when he said hed beat jeff up that was the highlight for me
Sorry guys but Will did say he would beat the dog mess out of Jeff. Will used the phrase "dog mess" as a substitute for the word sh&* because you can't use that word on live radio... or anywhere on tv for that matter.
19. Actually I used one of Will lines from The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air just as a joke. I walked up to a female friend of mine and said, "Hey girl, write your number down before I don't want it no more." She just looked at me and just started cracking up. She couldn't believe I just dropped that line on her. :bowrofl:
20. That scene looked hilarious. I like Kevin James. He's a really good comedic actor. This movie looks like it's going to be really funny. I'm not bothered if Will allowed Kevin James to kiss him. It's not real; it's a movie. :bowrofl:
21. That was the most hilarious interview I have ever heard!! That joint had me on the floor rolling. :bowrofl:
22.
Good news. But doesn't it seem like every brother and his mother has a song with Kanye West now? God Blessa!
I agree. Kayne is everywhere. I think he is overexposing himself but then again, I guess that's what you have to do in today's music industry to stay relevant. I love Brandy's new single. It's real breezy and cool. The Kayne rap fits in perfectly with this song.
23. Ted, The bottom line is that these celebrities are in trouble because of their own doing. They may or may not be good people but realize that they're in these situations because they made it. R. Kelly - It is him in the video. The FBI said there is no way the tape could've been doctored. Kelly's own lawyer tried to come up with 3 different excuses for the tape(It was doctored, it was Kelly's brother, and the girl is actually of age). I live in Chicago and it is no secret that R. Kelly likes young girls. He used to frequently go to Kenwood High School to "hang out" with young girls. Let's keep in mind that he married Aaliyah when she was 15! Kobe Bryant - He wouldn't be in this whole heap of trouble if he doesn't sleep around on his wife. Michael Jackson - As much as I love Mike's music, he never should've had little kids sleeping over his house... especially after the first incident. Jayson Williams - He shot his limo driver and then tried to lie and cover up the facts. I feel for them but at the same time I really can't because these are the decisions they made in their lives.
24. The song is mad corny but the video is straight hilarious. "My Band" is one of those songs that's supposed to suck but it has a cool video which ultimately makes it a "cool" song. Do you think "Thong Song" would have been as hot it weren't for the accompanying video?
25. Will Smith's upcoming sci-fi flick, I,Robot, is ranked #8 on Entertainment Weekly's list of hottest summer flicks. Go to Entertainment Weekly to check out the article. :afro:
