JILL SCOTT - Wondering Why (You Don't Talk To Me) The Original Jill Scott From The Vault: Vol. 1 (200?/2011) I love this joint. There's notes that Wanya Morris from Boyz II Men was in the studio that day and just decided to lay down some background vocals...lol. I think they are the flava the song needed to fill it out.

That was my favorite design the board has ever had! I think I referenced it when the forum got it's latest upgrade. Man, life was so much simpler back then. :)

Fuq, your post was dope! I think I agree with everything you said. I don't have the time to post something as dope as that. All I can say is that what is popular is not Hip-Hop. It has nothing to do with Hip-Hop culture and it isn't even created on a foundation of Hip-Hop. I remember when it was exciting, important, and uplifting to be a fan of Hip-Hop. It was a movement and it was on the radio. Today is a joke. Voices are wack, deliveries are lazy. Production is either overdone or underdone and sounds awful either way. Artists are immature, ignorant, selfish fools. The music sucks. I peeped the Jay-Z/Kanye project and I think I liked about 7 of the beats. I didn't hear the full songs so I wasn't able to hear the songs. I kind of have the feeling that Jay-Z will be alright and that Kanye is probably less than good. If I find it for the right price, I may pick it up (y'all know I like CDs and not downloads...though I get downloads of stuff I don't care about that much). Turntable, in all fairness, I can see where you get that view of KRS-One. I think it's a matter of perspective though rather than absolute truth. I think he is consistent and that most of his new music is just as good as his old music. It's just that he's not getting his videos aired on Yo! MTV Raps to get success. I don't see him as paranoid...what does have to worry about when it comes to the lack of skills of the current kids? Is Drake or Lil' Wayne really a threat to his lyrical thrown? Heck 2 the Nizzo!! I relate to some of his actions in the sense that some people think what is popular is good. It's not. Some people think it's Hip-Hop. It's not. I am simply not okay with the fact that people think that idiots like Lil' Wayne represent Hip-Hop simply because they are not of Hip-Hop and don't know the difference between Hip-Hop music and rap...and commercial rap at that. What's wrong with calling garbage music "garbage music."

THE ORIGINAL JILL SCOTT!

It's hard for me to believe that K. Smith is going to be involved in FP's final project. He's wack and FP doesn't let such nonsense on his albums. Hence none of Project Pat's 4 songs making it to Lost + Found. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to hear them, but now on FP's album. Jaden has had a hit with Justin Bieber and Willow has had a hit and some other videos. If FP really thought K. Smith was doing the right thing, he would be pushed out there and have SOMETHING by now. I don't mean to be negative, but K. Smith is wack. He's common and comes across as uneducated. Maybe if he takes himself seriously as a young man and an artist AND makes quality music, he'll get the push. I haven't listened to a K. Smith song in a year or 2 and I don't care ever again. Real talk.

He usually doesn't announce music until his a few months away from releasing the album. Lost + Found was made up of about 2 years of work. I'm not worried about getting a confirmation from him anytime soon. I'm happy with what we already know.

THE ORIGINAL JILL SCOTT!
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I was sure Jazzy and ATOJ were all over it. That's why I'm hyped to pick it up...but based on that preview (I haven't tired to find anymore music from it), it didn't sound as good as her other stuff. That's commercial doesn't let you hear much though. I'm picking the album up on my lunch break tomorrow! -
Album Review: Jill Scott - 'From the Vault. Vol. 1' Unlocking Greatness ... About.com Rating 4.5 Star Rating By Mark Edward Nero, About.com Guide Just a little over two and a half months after Jill Scott released her fourth studio album, The Light of the Sun, she's back with another project, The Original Jill Scott: from the Vault, Vol. 1, which comes out in the U.S. on Aug. 30, 2011. But unlike Light of the Sun, which was released through Warner Bros. Records, The Vault is a compilation of leftover, years-old material that had been held onto by her previous label, Hidden Beach Recordings. The ironic thing is that the older songs, on the whole, are actually superior to the newer, supposedly fresher material on Light. Quality & Depth Earlier in 2011, when Jill Scott and Hidden Beach reached an agreement to let her out of her contract and move over to Warner Bros., one of the stipulations was that the Beach retain the right to release some of the material Jill recorded but never released during her decade-long run on the label. And although it's not unusual for a label to put out a best-of or greatest hits package of an artist's work once they leave a label, what's unusual about The Vault is the quality and depth of the material. Each of the 11 tracks (14 on the deluxe version) are completely original recordings, and only one, the remake of the Bill Withers classic, "Lovely Day," is a remake. Anyone expecting this to be a collection of half-finished or unremarkable tracks that should have been left unreleased is in for a pleasant surprise. The Vault is at least the equal of -- and perhaps even superior to -- her last two studio albums. Highlights include "Running Away," a 12-minute suite that has the sound and feel of an in-studio jam session; "I Don't Know (Gotta Have You)," an ode to animal magnetism; the dancehall reggae-influenced "Love to Love;" and the aforementioned "Lovely Day," which manages to put an updated spin on the classic without having to completely reinvent it. Talent, Charm & Creativity The most impressive thing about The Vault is that unlike it's predecessor, The Light of the Sun, it's an album that's consistently good all the way good, from top to bottom. Hidden Beach managed to find the right mix of songs for this project and put them in the proper order. And instead of spreading herself thin creatively and being all over the map sonicly, this album sticks to what she does best: sing R&B and Soul music. There's no shoehorning of Jill's vocals into an ill-fitting music track, here: in other words, no hip-hop tracks or rap verses. In fact, there's no guest vocalists of any kind, and very little of her trademark spoken word poetry gets time to shine. It's basically just a woman and her microphone, getting it done in the recording booth. Although these songs might technically qualify as musical leftovers, by no means do they sound old or outdated; most sound like they could have been recorded last month, or even last week. It remains to be seen if Hidden Beach still has enough leftover material for a Vault Vol. 2, but it's doubtful that if so, the quality could be as high as what's found here. So if this is to be Jill Scott's swan song for her old label, it fittingly displays all the talent, charm and creativity that helped propel her to stardom. The samples on the commercial aren't nearly as good her early work but this still look pretty promising. The the review is a little too hard on her new music though.

Ha, it truly is a joy seeing people return to this forum. I haven't punched Lil' Wayne yet...but one day I will.

I don't mind that E-40 song...but his collaborators aren't any good. That Janet joint is a classic! She needs to come back big with her next album. R-N-B has been pretty tired for years. 2PAC - Papa'z Song Strictly For My.... (1993)

How is KRS-One paranoid? He's a legend and arguably the best emcee ever. There's NOTHING about Lil' Wayne to praise. If he's dissing him, it's because his music and character is absolute garbage...a new all time low for music.

Lil' Wayne is the worse rapper ever. Literally. Where does he have room to diss anyone? lol

False rumours of Will Smith & Jada Divorce
JumpinJack AJ replied to Hero1's topic in Will Smith Movies
I watch Hawthorne from time to time but I never see any scenes that he is in. That scene above is hot...and awkwardly long...but I'd never humor the idea of something going on between them. I think everyone is buggin' out of over this. I'm not paying attention to it anymore. I did stumble across this video of them today...normal as ever... http://www.tmz.com/videos?autoplay=true&mediaKey=f5f0739e-b1d9-4408-8414-94aa139795b6 -

I found this on AOL News... Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith Split? Couple Separating: Report UPDATE: Couple Denies Report First Posted: 8/23/11 10:31 AM ET Updated: 8/23/11 03:55 PM ET Celebrity Splits , Jada Pinkett Smith , Will Smith , Will Smith Jada Pinkett Smith Kids , Will Smith Jada Pinkett Smith Marriage , Will Smith Jada Pinkett Smith Separating , Slidepollajax , Will Smith Jada Pinkett , Celebrity News UPDATE IV: Smith and Pinkett have put out a statement denying the rumors, saying, "Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact." _____ UPDATE III: Pinkett's representative issued a statement through Entertainment Tonight, saying, "Everything about the Marc Anthony story is completely false, but we are not commenting on whether they are separating or not." _____ UPDATE II: Will's son Trey denied the story via Twitter earlier in the day, saying: "Will and Jada getting a DIVORCE ..NOT TRUE AT ALL !! RETWEET" _____ UPDATE: When contacted about the story by TMZ, Pinkett's rep said, "What? In Touch said that? I know nothing about this... Lord. I'm going back to bed." Radar Online quotes a family member, who asked not to be identified, as saying, “No way are they splitting up. They are totally together and are not separating." _____ PREVIOUSLY: In Touch Weekly is reporting that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett are separating. Their reps have not confirmed the story. The pair, who met when Pinkett auditioned for "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air," married on December 31st, 1997. They have two children together, budding pop stars Jaden and Willow, and Pinkett is the step mother of Smith's older son from a previous marriage, Trey. Speaking to YourTango in 2007, Pinkett described how they first got together. "After we had known each other for many years, we went out for dinner one night with mutual friends and I saw that he had grown from this lanky kid to this really responsible man," she said. "We started courting each other and our friendship turned into romance." In 2008, Smith spoke with Ellen Degeneres about their marriage, which he implied would last forever. "What I found is divorce just can't be an option," he said. "It's really that simple. And I think that's the problem with L.A. – there are so many options. So a huge part of the success for [Jada] and I is that we just removed the other options." Whether it was cause or effect is uncertain, but that dedication certainly coincided with an active sex life, including a romp on the way to the Oscars in 2010. Speaking to Uptown Magazine in June, Pinkett said, "People think that Will and I don’t spend a lot of time together. Too much time, actually, if you ask me. It’s always nice to have a little time apart. Sometimes you need that.”

I just want to say that I'm happy the JJ+FP section has been moved back up to the TOP of the board where it should be. I must admit that I cringed every time I saw the Jaden and Willow forums at the top. I think they deserve a forum...but not at the top of main JJ+FP website online.

DJ Jazzy Jeff and Da Brakes - The DJ Track
JumpinJack AJ replied to Da Brakes's topic in Caught in the Middle
In a word....DOPE! -
I think some things are changing. I think auto-tune is steadily dying. I think the watered down Euro-wanna-be dance sound is slowly dying. The last 5-8 years of music haven't offered much when it came to popular music. When it comes to rap and top 20 songs, they've been forgettable and by artists that are forgettable. It's been painful to watch artists like Usher, Rihanna, Ne-Yo, and Jamie Foxx make embarrassing music that isn't worthy of being mentioned with their previous work. I like some music that gives a nod to music of the past, but I don't think it's going to dominate the future. I appreciate it, but not all of it grabs me. To be honest, I haven't even picked up the new Raphael Saddiq album because I just didn't like it much when I peeped it. I think music is very interesting right now. There's many artists having fun with their music during what many people would say are some of the darkest and most stressful times that much of the world is experiencing. Reading what's in the news is amazing in a disgusting sort of way. Entertainment truly is one of the only real escape that many people have...and many of those people can't even afford it. I think that if musicians and emcees realized what sort of "power" and responsibility they have, we wouldn't the Black Eyed Peas making songs like "Dirty Bit."
