  1. Charlie Wilson is now on Jive. There's not a trace of The Neptunes anywhere on the album. I'm vibing to the album now. Here's a link with previews. http://www.amazon.com/Just-Charlie-Wilson/dp/B00470T06E/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1292190511&sr=1-1
  2. I was just listening 2 this. I had no idea there was a video until just now. Anyone remember Willa Ford (from 2001) who had the song "I Wanna B Bad" with Royce The 5'9"? WILLA FORD - Santa Baby (Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie) TRL Christmas (2001) bigted 2014 edit:
  3. Alot better... lol PUBLIC ENEMY - Give It Up Muse Sick In Hour Mess Age (1993)
  4. Young Jeezy's Manager Denies Arrest Reports One of the week's biggest stories has been the arrest of Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy before a performance in the Bahamas on Dec. 4. Details have been scant, but both the show promoters and local police confirmed that Jeezy was detained without citing a specific reason for an arrest. Notably, that goes against what the rapper's camp is saying. His manager is claiming that all of the reports are completely fabricated. Jeezy's manager, Demetrius Ellerbee, got right to the point. "It's not true," he told MTV News last night -- a blatant contradiction to the events that the police department put forward to a Bahamian newspaper entitled The Tribune over the weekend. "He was here with us a short while. He passed through the station briefly on Saturday," explained Ashton Greenslade, an officer at the Wulff Road station, at the time. "He was booked in here and taken to CDU (Central Detective Unit)." Perhaps a case of mistaken identity or something bigger, all sides are remaining silent as to the specific reasoning behind the arrest and how long Jeezy was kept in custody if he was in fact booked. Since both sides claim an entirely different story, details as to the truth should emerge soon enough. An inquiry with the local police has not yielded a response as of press time. ------------------------------------------------------------------- My source says he was arrested for having an annoying voice, writing trash lyrics, and making wack music. Why couldn't Young Jeezy just make a statement himself?
  5. Salt-N-Pepa doesn't have an official website. Their Myspace and Facebook pages are often not too informative. You can check Ticketmaster or this legit fansite... http://salt-n-pepa.org/ They'll be in Buffalo on February 5th. In the past I noticed that NY got some of the best line-ups. When I was on Ticketmaster I think I saw the line-up listed whereas my Baltimore show wasn't showing the rest of the line up. My tickets were $66. I paid the higher price which is why I'm right in front of the stage. It's likely they'll have staggered pricing for the venue. The tickets just went on sale so I'd suggest getting them NOW to guarantee the best seating.
  6. In February Salt-N-Pepa and The Legends of Hip-Hop are touring a good bit in 2011 and I just got tickets to their February 19 show!!! I didn't say who was coming with them, but based on the shows they've done in the past year or 2, it's been a mixture of Kid N' Play, Naughty By Nature, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, MC Lyte, Whodini, Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, and/or Kurtis Blow. I'm so hyped to see a real Hip-Hop show with a dope line up. I got the e-mail and was like "I really wanna see this but I should be spending this much money on tickets right now....let's see what seats I'd get." When I checked it out, the seats were FRONT AND CENTER so I knew I had to grab them. For the SNP fans, their new song "Big Girls," the remix, and "She's Killin' Me" are on Amazon and iTunes.
  7. CHARLIE WILSON - You Are Just Charlie (2010) His new album is dope! Both his and Ronald Isley's are pretty flawless. R-N-B/Soul at it's best by the legends....period.
  8. It goes beyond Hip-Hop. I've read many articles over the years and it seems to be an ongoing problems. I think it ultimately comes down to 2 things. They make a lot of money which gives them crazy taxes and/or they hire people to overlook too many parts of their business and they go unaware when someone isn't doing their job.
  9. After Bow Wow's last album, I was kinda done giving him chances. He just started working with more and more wack artists and producers. I think I only liked 2 or 3 songs off his last album even tho' he has the kind of voice and flow to outshine everyone who's getting mainstream success at the time the album dropped. It's sad to hear how fame messed up his upbringing. It's very similar to the kinda stuff MJ used to say (tho' Bow Wow's upbringing wasn't as strict as MJ's). At the bottom of the article they had his new video, which is on YouTube. The song is actually really good. It reminds of Nelly's current hit. Good rap, non-hardcore subject matter over a slick, mainstream radio-ready beat. ----------------------------------------------------------- Bow Wow Explains His Suicidal Thoughts Posted Dec 8th 2010 8:00PM by Latifah Muhammad Bow Wow is breaking down why he chooses to use his Twitter page as a public diary, where he has vocalized his thoughts of suicide. In an interview with Angie Ange on Washington D.C. radio station 93.9, the Cash Money rapper explained his feelings, likening himself to the main character in the film 'Richie Rich,' a wealthy child who wants nothing more than to be like everyone else. "It's similar with me, it's the same story, all I know is the business," he explained. "I ain't had time to go and play football and do none of the regular stuff. At times, it haunts you because of course you're going to be unbalanced." "I'm unbalanced because I only seen one side of life," he continued. "I ain't seen the other side. It's not by choice, it's just how it is. Some days I wake up and I do want to just fit in sometimes. I didn't mean it [the tweet] like I wanted kill myself, it's like, 'Yo, I wonder, like, when will I get peace?" I guess when I'll get it, is when I'm dead." Ironically, not long before tweeting about dying, Bow advised his followers not to use Twitter as a personal diary. This isn't the first time that the 23-year-old's tweets have made the news. Earlier this year, he refuted claims that he used the social networking site to solicit a woman for oral sex, which he later denied. In the midst of all the tweeting, Bow is prepping the release of his Cash Money Records debut, 'Underrated.' The album's single 'Ain't Thinkin' 'Bout You' features Chris Brown and just received the music video treatment. Look out for 'Underrated' in 2011.
  10. I don't know...but a lot of artists and actors get in trouble for this. There's gotta be something like not having the right people looking over your finances for you for this to happen to so many artists.
  11. Man, the music industry is not a kind way to legends. Another one gets in trouble. ------------------------------------------------ Doug E. Fresh Owes Over $2 Million in Unpaid Taxes By The Editors of Boombox Posted Dec 8th 2010 11:40AM Hip-Hop pioneer Doug E. Fresh is in trouble with the IRS for apparently failing to pay over $2 million in taxes. According the Detroit News, the beatboxer owes $2,276,848 million in taxes and, in an attempt to collect on the hefty bill, the IRS filed a lien against Fresh with the New York City register's office in October. Fresh, born Douglas E. Davis, has been in tax trouble before. In 2008, he was sought for $367,000 in delinquent tax payments. Yet despite his financial issues, the 44-year-old has delved into other business ventures outside the music industry, opening a restaurant in Harlem last month. The eatery, Doug E's, was met with criticism after its opening was delayed by two years. Doug E's, located in Harlem, specializes in a variety of fast food options, including waffles and fried chicken. As the founding member of the Get Fresh Crew, Fresh gained his footing in the New York music scene in the early 1980s. After linking with rapper Slick Rick to release the hit 'La Di Da Di' in 1985, Fresh rose to popularity for his beatboxing skills, which later solidified his place in hip-hop history. 12. JERMAINE DUPRI w/ SNOOP DOGG, PUFFY, + MURPHY LEE - Welcome To Atlanta (Coast 2 Cost Remix) This Is The Remix (2002) This is dope. Back when videos had more color and didn't need 2 be corny. Back when JD was rapping (not that he was the greatest...I still like his music). Back when Puffy's raps could be stomached.
  13. Yeah, I like this too. I was gonna post that Joe released a Christmas EP thur' Target last year. However, when I looked for a link, he apparently probably released a full album this year that I didn't even know about. It has all 6 songs off the original EP plus 4 others. U can preview the songs in the link!! JOE - Home Is The Essence of Christmas 1. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen 4:04 2. The Christmas Song 4:41 3. Christmas In New York 3:20 4. 14. BRITT NICOLE - Headphones (Acoustic Version) Acoustic (2010) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4HNAdOfTmI Really needed 2 hear this song 2nite...
  15. Here's a goodie... MONICA - My Grown Up Christmas List I believe she recorded this in 2000. The first album I saw this pop up on was a Platinum Christmas.
  16. I really don't agree with most of the stuff going on here. Will and Jada seem to be very serious about good parenting and the business. I hasn't crossed my mind that Willow would go bad due to the business. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. Sometime fame causes it. Will and Jada look like great parents and they've both been famous for decades. I also don't see her as a gimmick at all. She's doing her thing and her parents are staying the shadows. They aren't taking center stage...they are staying at the sidelines. I think they found a very good formula of mixing the current day sound with quality. The song is catchy and is getting support by TV and radio (that is also supporting untalented people who are having success with awful music). Jada has always had style. Jada has always had a booming voice. Willow has inherited that. To say say's being dressed up and pushed out there without talent to back it up is ridiculous. The song may be polished in the studio, but she is singing live in all or most of the performances I've seen online. The song isn't auto-tune or anything. I think she's just using the bold voice she got from her mama. I find it strange that some people who support today's crappy popular music are being more critical of Willow then of garbage they support. Willow is more talented and has more style than over half of the urban artists who are having big success at the moment.
  17. JESSICA SIMPSON - Kiss Me For Christmas Happy Christmas (2010) This is my favorite Christmas song from 2010!
  18. I wanted to take it back to the spirit of Christmas (with real Christmas songs). In 1993 Be Be & Ce Ce Winans released a great album called First Christmas. If you like early 90's R-N-B, u'll like this. The First Noel Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
  19. The current turn of the topic reminded me of the foulest, stupidest, and funniest "holiday song ever... EAZY-E - Merry Muthaphukkin Xmas
  20. 'Suge' Knight arrested on outstanding warrant LOS ANGELES -Authorities say rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight was arrested on an outstanding traffic warrant as he left a restaurant near Universal Studios outside Los Angeles. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Shawn Ruda says Knight was released about an hour after his arrest early Saturday. Ruda tells the Los Angeles Times that Knight was stopped by deputies, who ran his name through computers and discovered he was wanted on a minor traffic warrant issued recently in Beverly Hills. Knight was brought to West Hollywood, where he was cited and released, after agreeing to appear in court within two months. Ruda says Knight, who has a long arrest record, was not doing anything wrong when he was stopped, and agreed to talk to the deputies. — Information from: Los Angeles Times, http://www.latimes.com
  21. I really liked Brandy + Ray-J's 'Family Business" on VH1. I didn't know that they were doing another season. I'm really looking forward to the new season and the music.
  22. TANK - Maybe I Deserve Force of Nature (2001?)
  23. I'm not saying Def Jam is over, it's just NOTHING like the days of LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Onyx, Warren G, Method Man, Slick Rick. I refer to it as The Label Formally Known As Def Jam. The Roots, Chrisette Michele, Ne-Yo, and Rihanna are all great artists. But nobody on the label represents the it's roots and what it stood for. Plus, since they've merged with Island, I don't know who's OFFICIALLY on Def Jam and who's not other than seeing if the Def Jam logo is on it.
  24. Hmmmm...I like the production. But that dude is just way to common on the mic. I've always had a problem with explicit music. I think that's the whole thing is just foul. One of the most random Christmas albums ever that I love is the Quad City All-Stars Christmas album. The idea of a Bass/Hip-Hop/R-N-B album from the people that brought us 95 South, Quad City DJ's, Dis N Dat, and 69 Boyz is just funny to me. But I love it. QUAD CITY DJ's, 69 BOYZ + K-NOCK - What You Want For Christmas? Quad-City All-Star Christmas (1996) Here's a link to peep the album for those that care... http://www.amazon.com/Quad-City-Christmas-Various-Artists/dp/B000002JBV/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1291391183&sr=1-1
