  1. A TRIBE CALLED QUEST w/ FAITH + RAPHAEL SAADIQ - Stressed Out (Remix) Stressed Out (CD Single) (1996) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PV9gtssh04 A classic with a classic remix. I miss when good remixes got their own music video.
  2. I like that last song. I never heard of him before. TLC - Girl Talk 3D (2002) I really wish they'd officially release that Trackmasters Remix of this w/ Nas.
  3. Or he's an emotionally immature quick-to-anger person. I don't understand how people can grow up this way and not be in control of themselves. Stories like this are crazy. What does it take to make a person so angry that they would harm their own mother? I hope they work their stuff out and that he gets help...and that she stays clean. Last I read she never actually got off drugs, but that she goes back and forth on them. Lastly, I'm disappointed to hear Mario is jumping on the bandwagon and doing a stupid club-influenced album.
  4. This definitely has me looking at Mario in a different way. I used to really respect him... --------------------------------------------------------- Mario Arrested for Beating Up His Own Mother Mario is in hot water. The 24-year-old was arrested this morning in Baltimore for second degree assault. Earlier this week, after flying into a rage, the platinum-selling R&B singer allegedly assaulted his mother Shawntia Hardaway, with whom he shares an apartment. According to TMZ, police claim that Mario, whose real name is Mario Dewar Bennett, was "throwing and damaging property," which they later discovered to be a broken china cabinet and shattered mirror. Police also state that Mario then pushed Shawntia, a former heroin addict, with his hands and forearms "eight feet into a living room wall, where Ms. Hardaway hit her head on the wall" where an imprint was made upon impact. This isn't the first time that Mario, who was released this morning on $50,000 bond, has been involved in a physical altercation. This past July, the singer punched a sound engineer at the 16th Annual Rochester MusicFest after he cut off his microphone and turned the lights on when his set ran too long. Mario, who most recently appeared as a contestant on Season 6 of 'Dancing With the Stars,' released his fourth album 'D.N.A.' in September 2009. He is currently working on his club-oriented fifth LP.
  5. I've never cared about Dipset. I liked Cam'ron when he 1st came out. I think he's alright to this day. I never cared about the rest of his crew. I think Juelz Santana was good when it came to mainstream rappers, but that's about as far as my interest in him ever went. I can't say I care much about this news...but at least half of them are better than any current popular rappers.
  6. Ugh. Don't makes these sequels...don't make these sequels.
  7. A TRIBE CALLED QUEST - Money Maker The Love Movement (1998) I'm revisiting this album and loving it. It's takin' me back to the fall of '98 like crazy.
  8. This angers me. I have such a strong dislike for Solar and this has me angered to the point that if I saw him walking down the street, I'd probably tackle him...which is completely out of my character. It's funny that you posted this because late last night I was visiting Guru's Myspace (I added another Guru page, not knowing if it's legit) and watched a 10 minute video of his nephew talking about how Solar had things set up at the hospital so that Guru's own family couldn't call or visit or be kept up to date on Guru's condition. Guru will always be one of the greatest It's unfortunate that a Gang Starr project wasn't completed during the last months of his life and that 8.0 Lost And Found was his last studio album (considering I think it's his weakest). But some average work never holds back a legend's impact on music and how their legacy is viewed. I remember thinking Guru just didn't look so healthy on Lost And Found. He's yet another artist I liked who kept the private details of his struggle from the public which left his passing a total shock to the fans...much like my man Rich Cronin. After watching that video last night I looked at Solar's page. I giggled that someone left him a "F*** you fa**ot" comment. I hope Solar is separated from Guru's estate and legacy in every way. What an awful person.
  9. I can't agree with the statement that Hammer is doing well for himself musically. 2001's Active Duty had some good tracks and some filler and out-of-character trax. The Full Blast era had some good music but those tracks virtually didn't see the light of day. Look Look Look was hard to come by (I only saw it on one website and still haven't gotten it yet). And since then he's done some songs that were good but none of them have been appropriately released. Basically nothing since Active Duty has been properly promoted or released. If he'd put the music out there he'd have a decent following. His non-music projects are fine but they aren't what he's known for and ultimately don't matter when it comes to his career. I want to see an MC Hammer album on shelves in stores.
  10. Donnell Jones is back. The album is called lyrics, and if you live close to a Best Buy, they have a version with 3 extra bonus tracks. Donnell Jones has been dropping quality R-N-B since 1996. Anyone who is sick of the dancy R-N-B or the watered-down pop R-N-B, LISTEN 2 THIS ALBUM!!! This is the album that Usher was supposed to release. This album has the swagga that Boyz II Men's album of covers was missing. This album has the consistency that Musiq Soulchild and Dwele didn't come thru' with. As far as I'm concerned, this album, along with Ginuwine's and Jahiem's latest albums is R-N-B being taken back to how it should be done. If you claim to be a fan of R-N-B or Neo-Soul, PLEASE give this album a listen.
  11. Young Berg...holy crap. Who even remembers him?! Jay-Z is way too comfortable. I think that's why his music is often "safe" even when it's good. MC Hammer isn't scared to defend himself which I admire. He's always been the same guy since he 1st came on the scene. He has alot of things going for him that are not music related but he really needs to get that part of his career together. After all, he's an emcee 1st.
  12. RICH CRONIN - Cabdriver Unreleased (2004) This is the same song but he gave it to some group called Natural and appeared as a guest on the track. Missin' my brotha.
  13. PM DAWN - Being So Not Right For You (I Had No Right) Dearest Christian,... (1998) Takin' me back...
  14. I saw this on the other night. SNL is probably the longest running unfunny show in history. This guy definitely pulls off a pretty good animated version of FP vocally. The should have shot him from an angle so we couldn't tell that he looked nothing like him...lol.
  15. ICE CUBE - Soul On Ice I Am The West (2010) It drops this week y'all!! This is alright....but just alright.
  16. BUSTA RHYMES - Everything Remains Raw (Explicit) The Coming (1996) This album is classic. I remember the excitement I had for when this album 1st dropped.
  17. I was going back thru' my old Facebook messages and doing some deleting and realized that someone sent me this article back in March. I'm not sure if it's been posted yet. I really hope this doesn't happen. I just can't imagine any good coming of this. -------------------------------------------------- Back-to-Back Independence Day Sequels, Will Smith Locked? March 29, 2010 Source: IESB by Alex Billington Independence Day Remember in November when we reported that there wasn't just one, but supposedly two, Independence Day sequels in the works? Well, apparently that's true. IESB has a big update from one of their sources who claims that 20th Century Fox has those two Independence Day sequels aiming shoot back-to-back with Will Smith. One of the big snags holding this sequel back over the last fourteen years has been that Will Smith wants more and more money. Word is he will now get $20 million up front as well as part of the gross to star in this, mainly because Fox is now floating in all kinds of cash thanks to Avatar's mega (financial) success. Apparently they're using that "extra" Avatar cash to put some big new franchises in the works, including Independence Day 2 and 3. According to IESB, who is still only reporting all of this as a rumor, Will Smith is "now locked" for both movies, which could start shooting as early as 2011. This might also be Roland Emmerich's next feature after he finishes his William Shakespeare film Anonymous, therefore also delaying the Foundation Trilogy even more. Smith will also have time to still shoot Men in Black 3 (or The City That Sailed) before the sequels, so it could line-up nicely in his schedule. Fox must have some very grand ideas! Again, since this isn't confirmed, I'm not going to go around hooting and hollering about finally getting an Independence Day sequel (two of them!), but I am going to say I'm pretty excited for this to happen. After seeing Roland Emmerich destroy the world so many times recently, I'm glad to see him getting back to his "roots" (so to say) and deliver a sequel to one of my favorite Emmerich movies ever, not to mention one of my favorite Will Smith movies ever. Plus, I can only imagine where they'll be taking the story this time and how they'll up the ante. It'll be very tough to top the original, but I'm looking forward to seeing them try! Update: I have no clue whether to believe this or not, but Gossip Cop (ugh) says that they contacted one of Will Smith's reps who apparently told them that all of this is "not true at this time." To me that sounds like they're just denying it temporarily for the time being (and it is true), plus I don't trust a gossip site over our fellow movie blog brethren. Just wanted to let you know this "update" claiming it's false is out there, at least.
  18. NAUGHTY BY NATURE - So Many Things "...featuring Garden State Greats: The Mixtape" (2010) Thanx for sharing this Ted! I didn't know about this. I must say tho,' the rappers they features on these tracks don't add anything to the songs. The production is average too. I'm hoping their album is gonna be a lot better than this.
  19. A TRIBE CALLED QUEST + LEADERS OF THE NEW SCHOOL - Scenario (Remix) The Love Movement (1992/1998)
  20. I have never been able to get in2 Reggaeton. I'm not a Nelly fan but I love that song. Very R-N-B/Pop...but dope nonetheless. The video is good too. PARTNERS IN KRYME - T.U.R.T.L.E. Power Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Soundtrack (1990) While looking up the video for this post i found THIS!! Classic early 90's performance...lol
  21. JASON MRAZ - Kickin' With You When In Rome (Soundtrack) (2010)
  22. BLACK EYED PEAS - Weekend Bridging The Gap (2000) I kinda wish BEP would flop so they'd have to regroup and return to making real Hip-Hop again.
