  1. That 1st pic looks like it was from 89-90 and the 2nd from 90-91. I kinda doubt they were dating. There would be rumors about that. FP has shown love 2 Mariah. In late 90's interviews he would mention her as one of his favorite artists and there was also a pic of him posing with her and Jay-Z from 1998/1999. I don't see why y'all are thrown back by Mariah in those pix. She looked like that when she came out in 1990...she just didn't dress like that or do her hair like that.
  2. COMMON SENSE - I Used To Love H.E.R. Resurrection (1994?)
  3. Not even envisioned...it's the way he made them!
  4. WRECKX-N-EFFECT - Wreckx Shop (Remix) (Original Version From) Hard Or Smooth (1992) Classic early 90's Hip-Hop.
  5. I'm with you on that! This should be the album that LL Cool J and Fresh Prince finally work together. I'm tempted to start a Facebook cause on this! If I did, would you guys support it. This would be a good time to push the return of the Fresh Prince again. We've kinda let it die.
  6. Visqo, Snow never went anywhere. He's constantly released music...most of it only overseas since 1999 tho.' His last studio album was in 2003 but he's constantly touring, collaborating, and working on a new album. Last year he released an excellent single called "Adore You." 20 B-LO + SNOW - So Sweet ? 7. This isn't long or anything but it's good 2 read. I can't wait for the new album. Exit 13 isn't even 2 years old yet so I wouldn't want him to rush it. My main issue with Exit 13 is that I felt he did compromise with the stuff on the radio. So reading what he said in this sounds like he doing things right. Thank goodness we got this album to look forward to. ------------------------------------------------------ LL Cool J Not Rushing Next Album Thursday, 08 July 2010 | Written by Jason Hip Hop vet LL Cool J recently talked about his post-retirement album saying he isn't rushing to get it finished. "I'm starting to think about it and I am going to do it," he told Extra when asked about a possible musical comeback. "The key is for me is that when I do it, it has to be really important and it has to be something original. It can't be me trying to sound like what's acceptable because this is what is played on the radio today because that is so tired and boring and no one really cares about it...It has to be something with some substance and some depth...Until I can create that kind of record I'm not putting anything out. I don't care how many years it takes."
  8. Ha...sorry. I have no idea who that guy is...or why Jazzy partnered with him for the project...lol.
  9. And by the way, I love the Nsync too. I didn't like them at all but I couldn't front on that song. It's amazing. And even tho' I don't like 50 Cent, I did like "21 Questions" when it comes to the commercial songs on the radio. SNOW - Murder Love Murder Love (1995) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0WXJCCTGjo

  11. I agree with both of u. I understand why they retired Run-DMC but at the same time, I think occasional project (album, tour) would only be honoring JMJ. They don't need a new DJ. They could do their shows with a live band or just rap to a backtrack of their classic beats. One other thought, doesn't one of JMJ's sons DJ? I just know that is TLC's number 1 fan (sorry, Julie) I love seeing footage of them performing their hit songs, full with old and new dances with Left Eye doing her thing on the concert screens. Life is much better knowing they are still active instead of hanging up the mics.
  12. Yeah, I love that he's broken the mold of his previous stuff. No goofy annoying song as the lead single. He's done acting stupider than he is. He's done dressing like an 18 year old thug-wanna be. Even though I like Dr. Dre, I think his lack of involvement on this album is the main reason the sound of the album is so fresh and new. D12 also isn't on the album which is great cuz they are awful (tho' I liked "How Come" and cracked up at "My Band"). Now if only he can stop doing songs with wack rappers like Lil' Wayne and Drake.
  13. I'm so torn. Part of me would love to read it and part of me wants 2 wait til it hits theaters. It's been awhile since I had a scoop on JJ+FP before the public...so part of me loves the idea of getting some of that again.
  14. I like that it's leaving an option for them to do something 2gether in the future but that they aren't doing something just 2 do it... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Run DMC Reunion Update from DMC TheBoomBox.com On March 1, Roots drummer Questlove announced the lineup for the group's upcoming Third Annual Roots Picnic. Quest posted a Twitvid revealing that performers at the June 5 show would include the Clipse, Vampire Weekend and Das Racist, in addition to a special reunion performance. "This is a reunion we thought we would never get," Quest said. "We've been waiting to make this reunion happen for the longest, it's so incredible, I don't even want to tell you who it is," he finished, before throwing on a thick gold chain, a black hat and striking a pose, which hinted that Run-DMC would take the stage this summer. The video sent the blogosphere buzzing with news that the remaining members of the legendary hip-hop group would take the stage this summer, but when The BoomBox caught up with Run-DMC member Darryl Matthew McDaniels -- aka D.M.C. -- in New York City on Thursday, April 15, the emcee squashed all hopes of a reunion in the near future. "That's not gonna happen," McDaniels told The BoomBox. "For me, personally, I'll put it like this...As of now, a reunion is possible, but it's really got to make bigger sense, because a lot of people say Run-DMC was much more than just a rap group to them." McDaniels went on to explain that a reunion performance would disrespect the legacy of the late Jam Master Jay, who was murdered in a Queens, New York, recording studio in 2002. "People hit me with all the groups that did get back together after death, but I just feel I can't replace my drummer. Do you really want to see me and Run running around without Jay back there? With some other DJ? It'll be disrespectful," McDaniels said. "I didn't get into this for show business, I didn't get into this to be famous, I didn't even get into this to be the best rapper in the world." "After John Lennon got killed, did the Beatles get back together?" he asked, trying to express the emotional stress that a reunion would trigger. "So if they say Run-DMC are the Beatles of hip-hop, Public Enemy are the Rolling Stones and then you go down the line, with Jay-Z as the Sinatra, etc, we would be doing a disservice to our own legacy if we get back together now," he said. "We can probably get back together, but it's got to be in a different form. So it's not going to happen yet." McDaniels, who has been an active advocate for children charities in recent years, is currently at work on his second solo album, 'Origins of Block Music,' which is slated for a summer release.
  15. Check out that guys channel and his "favorites." I have downloaded at least 4 long play albums worth of his music and I'm not even half way finished downloading. The only thing that could be better is if 2Pac's came released a boxset with all this stuff mastered.
  16. AOL's News' "The Boombox" featured this article on the mixtape. It's good 2 see a main news source talking about the mixtape. The article is also linked up at the bottom at the top of Hip-Hop's headlines that feature news on Alicia Keys, Eminem, Puffy, and Mack 10 so a lot of people who have no idea about the mixtape will see the headline. http://www.theboombox.com/2010/07/06/dj-jazzy-jeff-and-mick-boogie-celebrate-summertime/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DJ JAZZY JEFF + MIKE BOOGIE CELEBRATE "SUMMERTIME" Fresh off a cameo at The Roots' third annual picnic earlier this month, DJ Jazzy Jeff continues to channel the good vibes of summer. Along with fellow beloved spinner Mick Boogie, the one-time Will Smith collaborator dropped a new mixtape that's simply called 'Summertime' and goes well beyond the usual watermelon picnics and poolside BBQs associated with the season. "49 songs... expertly mixed, cut and transitioned by two of America's most popular DJ's," reads the tape's very true Web description. "The songs cover any and everything 'summer' related. From songs about summer to songs that just feel like the sunshine season, this multi-genre mix will be sure to make your already great summer even better!" Released by Undrcrwn, a clothing company that apparently tries to mix street wear fashion with the spirit of basketball, the tape truly does seem to be made with our long barbecue season in mind. The mix kicks off with Kool & The Gang and Quincy Jones before delving into a mixture of hip-hop, r&b and classic summer jams. Along the way, there's appearances by Ice Cube, Jay-Z, A Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla, LL Cool J, Pharcyde, De La Soul, Notorious B.I.G. and some nostalgic one-hit-wonder anthems from acts like Skee-Lo and Montell Jordan. Don't sleep on this one. This is the perfect concept for both of these DJs and they sound great ripping through so many classics back-to-back. Download the tape here and view the full track list here.
  17. From AOL News... Eminem's 'Recovery' Expected to Break Platinum Although record sales are at an all-time-low, Eminem continues to consistently keep going platinum. The Detroit rapper's latest, 'Recovery,' debuted at No.1 on Billboard's American and European Albums charts -- his sixth straight No.1 album -- and remains at No.1 on both the U.S. and U.K. charts in its second week of release, Though many doubted Em would be able to continue his streak, especially after 'Recovery' leaked, the album sold 741,000 copies in its first week, and is expected to move a projected 320-340,000 more in the U.S. in its second week, making it the best-selling U.S. debut since 2008. The album's Rihanna-featuring single, 'Love the Way You Lie,' is currently burning up the singles charts, alongside the album's first single, 'Not Afraid.' A slew of other album tracks are currently on Billboard's Hot 100, including 'No Love,' '25 to Life,' 'Won't Back Down,' 'Space Bound' and more. It's not like they predicted another platinum plaque for Em for the season seven finale of 'Entourage' or something. Oh, wait -- they did.
  18. Where are all of the 2Pac fans? I thought this would have been big news. Maybe I'm the last 2 know about this...lol.

  20. A little bit ago I was on YouTube, rekindling my love with 2Pac's music. With no original music coming out and most of all of the remixed stuff being pretty bad, I've gotten away from his music (even tho' he's one of my favorite emcees of all time). Anyways, I came across some his music on YouTube. His original music...no crappy modern day producers...no wack commercial rappers from the 2000's that would have never worked with...THE ORIGINALS. And alot of the songs are good quality to. And for those of u who loves his music, even the poorer quality songs are dope. These are better than the bootlegs that some of you (including myself) used to buy back in the day. The best part is that this guy has downloadable MP3's of most of the songs. I've been spending most of my time on the computer recently downloading albums worth of his ORIGINAL and UNRELEASED music. Here is a link to one of his many videos. Open it in it's own window and be linked up to dozens of 2Pac original songs. 2Pac fans, enjoy...A prayer has been answered.
  21. On the topic of Rihanna, I love her but I hate her pop sound. Do a pop song or a dance song here and there, but I miss her R-N-B/Dancehall stuff. This dancey pop crap isn't gonna stand the test of time. She does it well, there's just no soul to it. I also think the dark, edgy stuff is annoying. And when it comes to that song with Eminem, I stand by what I said. I believe in this over-used phrase "keep it real"....and that's NOT what she's doing. Read the interviews and you'll see what I mean. JENNIFER LOPEZ - If You Had My Love On The 6 (1999)
  22. Yeah, it's amazing how many people couldn't come back after Bad Boy. Faith did alright with her last album but she hasn't done much since ( and I believe she was the greatest thing Bad Boy ever had). Craig Mack was the illest emcee Bad Boy ever had, but his 2nd album w/o Bad Boy only stirred things up a bit before disappearing. The only other thing he did that was well-known was when he rejoined Bad Boy for a short period in 2002. Total made some music even tho' they weren't the biggest talent but they disappeared. Mase's fire burned away by 1999. His comeback album on Bad Boy did okay but he's been but as an "artist" he's been silenced and doesn't now who he is. Dream was a nice group but they couldn't form another album after BB. There's a smattering of artists of artist and rappers we could go down but each of them only had some success with a single or 2...up to 2 albums at the most. Puffy is rich, famous, and occasionally has success for himself. That's all the good I can really say about him. His artists haven't had lasting success. His own career as a "producer" or "rapper" has never been consistent. It's hard to imagine him as a person who cares much for other people outside of himself. He also has a history of treating people like crap. Just ask Steve Stout....lol. When it comes to 50, all I can judge is some of the music I've heard and the interviews I've seen/read. As a rapper, there's nothing really impressive about him (lyrically, flow, voice, etc). I've never seen his acting but I don't know if I care to see it. By his interviews, he isn't the most intelligent person or the nicest person. He also seems focused on himself and often childlike in his attitude. It's not my job to judge character but I like to support people like Fresh Prince, LL Cool J, Heavy D, Ahmad, etc....guys who are nice, down to earth, funny, talented, positive, etc. Most of their careers are also filled with good music, movies, projects, etc.
  23. I see him as a pretty good business man and nothing else. I can't consider him a producer. Stealing a beat in it's entirety and attempting to rap on it isn't producing.
