  1. MICHAEL JACKSON + AKON - Hold My Hand (Unreleased) (2008) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDXfij9ZGkc&feature=related Man, this needs 2 be released!!
  2. Jim, I was hyped when I heard he was recording in north VA. It didn't list the town but north VA is just 30-40 minutes from me. It's hard to imagine him just traveling to cities other than places like NY and CA and recording but it definitely has spiked me interest...as if it needed to be any greater. I wonder what it sounds like. If it was influenced by what was "hot" at the time, it could sound dated already. Most of MJ's album are half timeless and half influenced by the current sound that is popular at the time. I'd like to see his legacy handled properly and hear more music. I plan on watching This Is It again this week.
  3. I can't believe nobody on this board found this news when it 1st came out. I'm definitely excited to see this eventually come out. Usually MJ recorded 100's of songs for his albums before they began forming...but this sounds like he did just enough for an album. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Exclusive: Michael Jackson Recorded A New Album in 2007 By: Roger Friedman in Celebrity, Exclusives, Music // May 2nd, 2010 at 9:30 PM EDT Michael Jackson recorded a whole new album of material in the fall of 2007. The information about the album was only recently revealed by sources close to the late pop star. Readers of my old column will recall that I reported on November 19, 2007 that Jackson spent three months with the Cascio family in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey after decamping from a Northern Virginia home he’d been renting courtesy of then manager Raymone Bain. Jackson, his kids, nanny and tutor landed on the Cascio doorstep at the end of the summer of 2007 and stayed until November 7th. During that time Michael was not idle, as some thought. He recorded at least a dozen tracks with Eddie Cascio, who is also known as Angel. I’m told that Jackson’s manager and adviser, Frank DiLeo, knew that Jackson was working on a new album. DiLeo and the Cascios all declined to comment for this article. The song titles that I’m aware of include: “Water,” a song Michael actually sang a little bit of in the movie, “This is It” (Jackson fans have commented on this on fan blogs), plus “Breaking News,” and “Burn Tonight.” According to one source who’s heard the material, Michael’s vocals are “perfect.” The question now, of course, is what happens next. The Jackson estate just signed a record deal with Sony Music that could be worth $200 million, but it includes re-releases of previously recorded music, live albums, and an album of unreleased songs that were in the Sony vaults or recorded during Jackson’s contracted time with the label. That deal does not include newly discovered material. This could mean that other record companies could bid for the collection of songs. Eddie Cascio, who’s 28, is the second oldest son of Dominick (Sr.) and Connie Cascio, who were friends of Jackson since the 1990s, Dominick Cascio Sr. met Jackson in 1984-85 when he was the general manager at the Helmsley Palace Hotel in New York City. Jackson recognized the Cascios immediately as a “normal” family, and quickly befriended them. Since Jackson’s death, the Cascios have been frequent visitors at Katherine Jackson’s home in Encino, California. Over the years, Jackson reciprocated the Cascios’ hospitality with enormous generosity. Although the Cascios were not named in Jackson’s will, the song tracks should prove to be multi-million dollar bonanza—and a lasting gift to people whom he really considered family. The Cascio’s were so close to Jackson that a message from them, written by Eddie, was included in the booklet distributed at Jackson’s Staples Center memorial service in July 2009. Here’s what it said: “Doo Doo, It is only once in a lifetime where you meet a true Angel sent from the Heavens above. I count my blessings each day for I have experienced Heaven on Earth. The wisdom, guidance, and knowledge will always be remembered and put into action. I thank you for the memories, for they will remain in my heart forever and ever. Our friendship will always be treasured. I write on behalf of my family. We promise to always remain ‘The First Family of Love’. From the Bottom of our Hearts WE THANK YOU and will love you FOREVER and ALWAYS. ANGEL ‘Dr.Heat’ Cascio and the Cascio Family”
  4. Sean Levert's Widow Gets $4 Million for His Death By Ruth Manuel-Logan on Jun 18th 2010 8:25AM Angela Lowe, the widow of R&B singer Sean Levert, who died suspiciously six days after being jailed back in March 2008, has settled her lawsuit against Cuyahoga County in Ohio and the umbrella company that oversees medical care at the jail. The settlement, which was reached yesterday, is one of the largest in the state's history. According to Lowe's attorney David Malik, the court documents do not contain admission of liability, but it was agreed overall that Levert's death was an unexpected tragedy. Levert, who was 39 at the time of death, was arrested for back child support payments in excess of $90,000. He had three children from former relationships. The former member of the 1980's R&B group LeVert was not allowed to take his prescribed anti-anxiety medication, Xanax, during the entire time he was jailed. A coroner's report revealed that the singer's death was a direct result of withdrawals from not being able to take the drug. Levert began to hallucinate in jail and had trouble breathing after guards shackled him to a restraint chair. Medical negligence and absurd jail policies contributed to Levert's death. There was no provision in place for inmates to get their prescribed medications upon arrival, which meant that many had to go without them for long periods. A year after Levert's untimely death, the jail adopted a policy stating that inmates taking anti-anxiety drugs should be given those meds once their prescriptions are verified. If the prescription can't be verified, the inmate should be scheduled to see a psychiatrist that day or the next. "Sean's Law," named after Levert and sponsored in the Ohio General Assembly by State Rep. Barbara Boyd, mandates that every county jail give each inmate a thorough medical, dental and mental-health exam upon arrival. Sean's father is lead O'Jays vocalist Eddie Levert.
  5. I think lovetowill was impersonating Willow. ***I little bit of humor for the old school fans***
  6. CHRISTINA AGUILERA - You Lost Me Bionic (2010)
  7. I've never heard this. Someone took the instrumental to Skee-Lo's remix of "Top of The Stairs" to blend this. Awesome.
  8. AALIYAH - Turn The Page Music of The Heart Soundtrack (1998?) I was always one of Aaliyah's biggest fans ever since "Back And Forth." After some time away from her music, I'm falling in love with her all over again.
  9. DMX - X Gonna Give It To Ya Cradle 2 The Grave Soundtrack (2003)
  10. LOL...the movie's biggest skeptic has changed his story! I still haven't seen it. Hopefully I will soon.
  11. Jay-Z himself did it. I mean, he called them sequels when the production, sound, and overall vibe was no where near the level of the original. I hate when artists do "sequel" albums...unless they are released shortly after and continue what the 1st one started. Otherwise, it's just stupid. And I'm with Ted. When it comes to what's popular, Jay-Z is usually the best (which isn't the biggest compliment...but not a diss either). But when it comes to true school emcees like LL Cool J and Common Sense, Jay-Z is much further down the food chain.
  12. Even then, LL will be a more consistent and more talented artist...plus he'll look 10 years younger than Jay-Z. He should just NEVER talk like that...lol.
  13. NICE & SMOOTH - Return of The Hip-Hop Freaks Jewel of The Nile (1994) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-n0PzXjgUIg
  14. NICE & SMOOTH - Old To The New Jewel of The Nile (1994) Man, I remember watching this the night it premiered on Yo! MTV Raps. WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED 2 HIP-HOP!?!?
  15. I don't take it as a diss. Since I have to read what he said and not HEAR what he said, it's hard to take it in the right context. Jay-Z has no room to attempt to diss LL so I hope that wasn't his intention. I picked up a used copy of Blueprint 3 the other week and I think it's awful. I probably only like 3 songs off the album. And I wanted this album to be good. WHY CALL IT BLUEPRINT 3 WHEN IT'S NOTHING LIKE THE ORIGINAL (that goes the same for Blueprint 2). When it comes to longevity, LL Cool J is the poster boy. Why he has evolved over his career, he's just as dope today as he ever was. If Jay-Z was dissing LL, all I can say is "Eat 'em up, L."
  16. His voice is about the same as it has been for the past 10 years. It's such a shame that someone who once had one of the strongest, most demanding voices in Hip-Hop now has one of the weakest. For a second a long time fan might think "Just leave the mic alone why u are on a high note"....but I actually admire that he's adjusted and that he's still aggressively making music. DMC is a legend. I'm just thankful his still around and doing his thing. He looks healthy and happy in that video. The vibe of the song isn't totally my flavor but I know his style has stretched since retiring RUN DMC. I'm looking forward to the straight Hip-Hop tracks off the new record. I wonder if Run is still working on his 2nd solo album or that album he was doing with Kid Rock.
  17. RAKIM - Holy Are You The Seventh Seal (2009) Way better than anything 50 Cent and Lil' Wayne could ever dream off recording.
  18. To be honest, I think most of today's rappers are selfish, small-minded individuals. Do they REALLY care about other people? I want the artists I like to have heart. To care about others as they care about themselves. Whatever happened to people being good people? I'm not trying 2 get off topic, but dare I ask how many successful commercial rappers are actually good people? This goes beyond music. Does anyone else feel like we live in an age where's it's acceptable to be selfish, immature, mean, hateful, and straight WRONG? I doubt I'll ever respect Drake as artist but I'd like to think he's a good guy and that an action like this isn't a publicity stunt.
  19. DIGITAL UNDERGROUND - Return of The Crazy One The Body Hat Syndrome (1993)
  20. I must say, I wasn't too excited about the idea of this when we 1st heard it. I talked to someone (who I don't even know) who saw the movie (who was at least my age) and she said she loved the movie...maybe even more than the original!! Congratz 2 Jaden and crew. I think I'm gonna see this in the theaters.
  21. ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT - Greener Strong (2010) Music with a message...
  22. I don't like Drake's music at all. But I guess I like that he's standing up for something. Hip-Hop used to be about expressing yourself and making a change. If you are a person who cares about the environment, can't u take one of the songs u've got on your album about ho's, drugs, and guns 2 talk about stuff like this that actually matters? That's what a little something I call "keepin' it real." By the way, if u wanna hear real artists practice and preach, check Arrested Developments song/video "Greener."
  23. DJ JAZZY JEFF + PHIL NASH - Closer The Changemakers (2010) This is so dope!
