O'So Krispie is the girl who won the competition on the show R U The Girl With T-Boz + Chilli to record a song with them. All these people freaked out because they thought they were trying to replace Left Eye even tho' the made it clear they were just giving someone the chance to record with them. It's annoying because when TLC was new to music, they'd have all these Radio Edit's w/o Rap so they'd get more play on Top 40 stations. But now rap (even really bad rap) is so accepted they don't really do that anymore...so I'm stuck with this version featuring some annoying rapper. ADAM LAMBERT - What Do You Want From Me? (Unplugged) (2010) I don't really like Adam Lambert at all. The performances and videos I've seen by him are all stupid and annoying. But I keep seeing this unplugged performance being aired on VH-1 and I actually like it.

Ice Cube Calls Out Eminem, Dre, Kanye & More
JumpinJack AJ replied to VIsqo's topic in Caught in the Middle
I'm sure it'll sell well since people have waited so long. The quality of the album is a total guessing game to me. He's probably gonna be talking about guns, weed, and sex in more than half of the song, which is fake and silly. I'm sure he'll squeeze in a couple really good songs. The final cut for the album will include Fresh Prince + Eminem "My Buddy 2010." -
Vibe's Hip Hop's Greatest Producers
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
It's a shame he was overlooked. But at the same time, he's known more as a DJ than anything else. Jeff hasn't always been the most consistent producer either. At least as fans, we go thru' phases where we get alot of stuff he produces and then we'll go a couple years where we don't hear hardly anything he produces. There's A LOT of people who aren't getting credit at Vibe when it comes to producing. Does Quincy Jones own Vibe again? -
Ice Cube Denies Dr. Dre Diss in 'Drink the Kool-Aid'Post Ice Cube has generated a lot of controversy as he pieces together his new record 'I Am the West,' particularly on a track called 'Drink the Kool-Aid' where he airs out a lot of his music industry hatreds. Yet one big relationship on the mend is between Cube and former NWA partner Dr. Dre. In a report from the studio last night, Ice Cube talked about getting it in with the legendary producer, jumping on Dre's 'Detox' and getting Dre to work on his new record. "I met Dr. Dre in the studio last night," wrote Ice Cube. "When I got there Snoop was in the booth laying the finishing touches on another classic from the dynamic duo. He played me some tracks set for the up and coming 'Detox' record and we talked about me jumping on board the project. Of course I talked about him doing s--- on my record and he said he'd bless the album. The Game came through ready to spit but Dre just wanted every[body] to vibe. It felt like old times when me and Dre would work on s--- in Eazy's cold ass garage." Apparently, Dre asked Cube if 'Drink the Kool-Aid' was supposed to be a diss towards him. On that track, Cube raps, "I ain't the doctor/ This ain't the patient/ This ain't that n---- always on vacation," but he was careful to explain that those lines weren't a reference to Dre at all. "He asked me did I diss him during the 'Paid Dues' show last Saturday," Cube said of playing the track in question.. I told Dre that I'd never diss the man that got me started." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DMX's Wife Plotting Divorce Things for DMX just keep getting worse and worse. Aside from his very public mounting legal woes and alleged drug addiction, the Yonker's born rapper's wife Tasheera Simmons is planning to file for divorce. The former couple, who were together for two decades and have four children, have since gone their separate ways. "I haven't filed [for divorce] yet but we are separated," Simmons said in an interview. Simmons is also writing a book about her life as a mother and wife to one of hip-hop's most notable figures. "It's not a tell-all, I want to clear that up," she said. "It's a memoir about our life. My life and his life together because I feel in his book he didn't really get into detail to better understand it. With all the drama and everything going on now, I think my book explains everything. It's just our story I just don't like the 'tell-all' because it's a positive 'tell-all' I guess I'll say that." In regards to whether or not she'll be spilling the beans on details surrounding X's fall from grace and decent into a lifestyle that includes one arrest after another, Simmons declined. "I'm more classier than that. I definitely wouldn't go there. I'm going to let people judge for themselves. I'm going to tell the whole story but not in a dissing way." As previously reported X, born Earl Simmons, is serving a six-month sentence for probation violation. In a desperate attempt to save his client, X's lawyer Gary Jenkins requested the assistance of addiction specialist Dr. Drew Pinksy by way of the reality show 'Celebrity Rehab.' The show chronicles celebs' recovery process during treatment at the Pasadena Recovery Center. Pinksy also wrote a letter to the judge asking that X be admitted to the rehab facility. No word yet on whether or not X will appear on the show. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kelis' 'Fleshtone' Set for a July Release PostBack in December Kelis inked a new deal with Interscope Records via Will.I.Am's Music Group imprint, and now the 'Milkshake' singer is ready to unleash her fifth studio album this summer. 'Flesh Tone' will hit stores in North America on July 6, while international fans can expect to get their hands on the album more than a month earlier, on May 17. For her new LP -- the first since 2006's 'Kelis Was Here' -- Kelis teamed up with several high-profile and experimental producers, including Will.I.Am, David Guetta, Benny Benassi, Free School and Boys Noise to create an eclectic mix of dance music. Her current single 'Acapella' has enjoyed a successful run at No. 1 on the Billboard dance/club chart and in a recent interview Will.I.Am explained that he saw big things for Kelis in the coming months, "I would like Kelis to show she's an international sensation," he said. "She can be big. A lot of people think big is being on the radio or that being big is having a show in London, France and sometimes Japan. But that ain't international...that's just three countries. The Black Eyed Peas are big; the Black Eyed Peas are international. I think Kelis can be that big. As big as the Peas." Will.I.Am has been actively promoting the new album right alongside Kelis. The two appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday night (April 7) for a performance of 'Acapella.' Check out the footage after the jump.

I loooooove the new jack swing sound. I'm not sure if this can make a good movie...but it has my attention... Teddy Riley is Bringing New Jack Swing Back? By: kmurphy Posted 3-11-2010 8:55 pm Fans of New Jack Swing will soon see the influential ‘80s R&B and rap music era immortalized on the big screen. According to legendary producer and New Jack Swing creator Teddy Riley, the film will detail the rise and cultural and commercial explosion of the groove-heavy, keyboard-driven sound kicked off by Keith Sweat’s 1987 landmark album Make It Last Forever. Riley’s swinging production style instantly dominated R&B and hip hop music and eventually pop with Michael Jackson. “We are getting ready to do a movie chronicling the early New Jack Swing era,” Riley told VIBE. “It’s going to be the new millineum Krush Groove and Boyz In The Hood all rolled up in one. New Jack City (the classic 1991 street film starring Wesley Snipes) was just scratching the surface. Barry Michael Cooper, the same writer who wrote New Jack City, originally gave my music the name New Jack Swing. So Barry and I put our heads together to do this film.” While the movie is still being developed, Riley promises an insightful look inside the New Jack Swing scene as well as the artists and industry people who made it all happen. “We are starting the film in the ‘80s, so part 1 will be before Michael Jackson. We are covering everything from Guy and Bobby Brown to modern R&B’s first beef, which was between Guy and New Edition. It’s going to be written by Barry Michael Cooper, with input from myself and Jeff Dyson, who was New Edition’s security. The truth shall be revealed.” However, Riley says he won’t be handling any acting duties. He’s going to leave such thespian pursuits to the professionals. “There will be someone playing Teddy Riley, but I’ll be narrating the film,” he explains. “The [characters] of the movie are the people who helped create the movement. The real actual people won’t be in it. We’ll have some great actors to come in and play people like Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston, and Guy. This is my time to really think outside of the box. I’m doing what I never got the chance to do which is to show how important a movement New Jack Swing really was.” —Keith Murphy

If u want a straight Hip-Hop album, check Speech's "The Grown Folks Table." It is one of my top 3 favorite Speech albums....and I love them all...lol.

Ice Cube Calls Out Eminem, Dre, Kanye & More
JumpinJack AJ replied to VIsqo's topic in Caught in the Middle
I gotta be honest. I think the song is stupid. Is Ice Cube trying to make a big deal out of it? I hope not. I hope it's just writer of this article. The production is boring, the lyrics are average and there not much of an aggressive edge to the track. I love Ice Cube but this isn't anything special. -
Exactly, that's why I think an unknown should get the part if the movie is good enough to be made. It's very hard 2 find someone who looks and can sing like a musical legend but I think it's annoying when they do movies on legendary artists and the classic recordings don't match the voice of the actor.

Happy Easter! 1 Cross + 3 Nails = 4 Given

I don't think FP was right for that role. I think someone who is unknown should have that part. I remember when someone suggested he play Sam Cooke and I thought that MIGHT work. Since FP typically takes roles that avoid too much drama, I don't know how it would work to see him play out his crazy demise.

Nas shares his thoughts on his status as hip hop veteran
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
I think it's all very silly that age is coming into play. I look at it this way. Either you are good or you're not (or in the middle). Most of these NEW guys who happen 2 be YOUNG guys are idiots. They making stupid music about stupid stuff and sound stupid doing it. I actually get disappointed when I see an established artist (much less a LEGEND) supporting an artist who has no talent and spits wack lyrics over trendy commercial, watered down beats. Find the talent ARTISTS who actually care and embrace them....don't just support any "flavor of the month" type artist who isn't going to have a career 3 years down the road. -
Shoot, a sequel to Seven Pounds would be better than a sequel to ID4. :lookaround:

I wouldn't find mind seeing a movie like Enemy of the State. I believe that if it were written correctly it could have a good sequel. I rather just see a new movie with some of the same formula.

KRS-ONE Working On New Album With DJ Premier
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
That boop bap sound was classic. It was gritty and street but had enough rhythm to it to make it onto the charts from time to time. The sounds used in it's production was simple, mostly timeless, classic Hip-Hop. It's not really a dated sound, it was just biggest in the early '90's thru' the mid '90's. Production is watered down across the board commercially. A solid sound is desperately needed. But will people every trade in Drake for KRS-One? They should. -
MaxFly, you brought up some really good ideas. I just don't think they are worth being made into a motion picture. Especially after this long. That idea sounds awesome for another movie (not and ID4 sequel)...or an animated movie or a book. 14 years later things would be pretty much back to normal. And it can't take place in 1996. That would make no sense.

KRS-ONE Working On New Album With DJ Premier
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
Another thing...if they are titling the album that, they need 2 resurrect that 90's boom bap sound. Otherwise it won't make any sense.
