I don't know. There's no reason to go there. It's not growing fast. The people who did join it aren't going to be checking it if nothing is going on and may even leave. I think we've been silent for long enough. I think something needs to happen by US to spike things a little bit.

Things that makes the Chris Brown album cover incredibly stupid. 1. The guitar (as far as we know, he doesn't play...is there going to be much guitar in the new songs?) 2. The tight clothes (did he give up on girls after Rihanna?) 3. The cheezy album cover font (welcome to the 80's) 4. The metalic arm (why?) 5. The cartoon characters (...really...Why?) 6. The outerspace/futuristic concept (outerspace is cheezy in any music genre...much less R-N-B...plus the "futuristic" vibe died with the year 2000) 7. All of the above being put on the same album cover in which they don't match/blend/go together After doing something very wrong which was shared very publicly, it's imporant for an artist to regroup and come out with their best work if they want their career/image to survive. R. Kelly pulled it off (tho' it all went downhill after Happy People/U Saved Me) but Chris Brown is stupid 2 think this album cover is acceptable, much less after being known as an immature, insecure, abusive, hot tempered jerk.

I saw an old video with her the other day....wearing simple cloths, long gorgous hair, realistic make-up. She was just interviewing and being the girl next door. I love Rihanna. I think her music is really good (especially her 1st 2 albums) and I think she's beautiful. But once her fame spiked, the label formally known as Def Jam really took advantage of that. Unlike most of the artists who are "hot"..."popular"...etc, I think Rihanna is very talented and STILL makes good music. I almost wish this album would flop, Def Jam would drop her and she could start fresh on a real label where she could go back to being what I feel is herself. That flashy, gothy, cybery, bad hair/make up, pop-chart ready just dosen't stand up against the artist she was when she was coming out.

The Strength of Will Smith’s Knowledge
JumpinJack AJ replied to Jin's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I like this video. There has been so many more things he's said that could have been added onto this. I had 2 put this on my Facebook when you shared this last night. -

I'm pretty much in the same boat as Ted. Ja-Rule, Nelly, alot of rappers of their time where pretty phoney or common to me tho' they each have a couple songs I like on the commercial front for what it was worth. I will never give them true props for their music overall but when you compare it to the current stuff, they are definitely better...haha.

Ah, that article is STUPID. This is a performance/documentary...NOT A MOVIE. It would be the perfect holiday release. Grrrrrr.............

On a barely related note, has anyone seen the new Chris Brown album cover. It is the stupidest most ridiculous album cover I've ever seen. Even if it's a joke, there is no excuse for it.

Very cool. In the past I've always considered buying a plaq but sometimes they are way overpriced and some of them are fake. This definitely is the real deal tho.' I have no idea who that person is. There name doesn't stand out as something I've seen in the credits.

Roxanne Shante Reveals Breast Cancer Battle Posted Nov 2nd 2009 7:15PM by BoomBox StaffComments [15]Print | Email More On the heels of debunked claims that her record label paid for her college education, veteran rapper Roxanne Shante is revealing that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The 40-year-old first noticed a lump in her breast earlier this year, but did nothing about it for months. "In March, I noticed a lump in my left breast, rather small at the time and didn't really know what I was feeling," she said in an interview with AOL's Black Voices. "So instead of going straight to the doctor's office, I started asking friends their opinion and trying to go by their experiences. It was such a stupid move. Well, I figured I was just getting older. A hysterectomy in my early thirties led me to believe that I would be fine. Another stupid move." Shante goes on to say that she was in denial at first, and lost 40 lbs before finally going back to the doctor in August. She had a mammogram done and later received an urgent letter from the lab. She was told that the lump was indeed cancerous. "I felt all eyes were on me to tell women how important it is for them to get checked. It is only by the grace of God that I have been able to survive." The '80s rapper also used the interview as an opportunity to inadvertently address allegations that she lied about having her former record label, Warner Music, pay for her education. "Do I apologize? Yes, I do. But I am not asking for your forgiveness," she said. "I am sorry about a lot of things that I should've done differently. There were quite a few things that have been exposed with that article; the fact that I never received any royalties, the fact that I did go on to attend college (even if no Ph.D. was acquired), and the fact that at 14 years old and coming straight from the group home, I went on to create a career that even after 20 years of not making a hit record, was still pulling headlines. "To be called Dr. Roxanne Shante was, and is, a privilege. But with that privilege comes pressure. I also had to live and talk like someone with a doctorate -- not an easy task at all. I had to make sure that people felt healed and inspired after speaking with me. So, yes, I apologize to all those who applied themselves and put in all the hard work that is required to acquire a Ph.D. I admire you all. But don't discredit all the hard work and sacrifices so many others have also done to also reach their goals." Unfortunately this latest story has been met with some skepticism, as some are unsure if she isn't merely looking for more publicity. As a teen Shante, born Lolita Shante Gooden, gained popularity for breaking into the male dominated industry. Her most noted songs was the dis record 'Roxanne's Revenge,' in which she responded to rap group U.T.F.O.'s song 'Roxanne Roxanne.' Shante is also the founding member of the group Juice Crew. She released two albums 'Bad Sister,' in 1989 and 'The Bitch Is Back' in 1992 before stepping out of the spotlight.

I thought most of his stuff was weak. I'll give him a listen when he comes back out. Out of all the trax he's ever done, I could probably fit all of the ones I like on an 80 minute CD. And of that last 10 years, I think he was only major for about 4 of them...ha ha. I liked "Always On Time" when it was new. I liked him on that Dru Hill remix. I thought "Holla Holla" was okay when it first came out. That song he did with Case was probably my favorite song by him. I think a big step he needs to take is not sing every again. He needs to stop trying to be harder than he is and he also needs to stop trying to be like 2Pac.

Yeah, what I mean to say was that I hope they don't treat it like a regular movie (where they wait months to release it) and rush it out so the fans gettin get it in time for the holiddays or something.

JASON MRAZ - The Remedy Beatiful Mess - Live On Earth (2009)
-
I read an article on it that had alot of the same info but was more negative, saying how it didn't hit the expectations but that it was the number 1 concert movie ever. This article makes it sound like the Miley Cyrus movie beat it...? I tought it was a regular movie, not a concert? I'm not surprised that they are extending it. I was going to see it one more time before it left theaters. When I 1st say it I got a VIP style lanyard for the movie. I'm hoping they aren't going to treat it as a real movie and rush the DVD out right after it leaves theaters.

2 really good songs!! ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT - The World Is Changing Strong (2009) The video just came out! You can catch it on YouTube. It's a little different (as is the upcoming album). I guess since Speech's new album is straight Hip-Hop I can work with this slightly altered sound. If Spearhead can break onto the charts in the US, this definitely cool.

I should be getting the album in the mail any day. I peeped it and really liked what i heard. Kel is doing all the right things.

From AOL's Boombox... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Preview Reunion Album in New York Posted Oct 29th 2009 11:15AM by Steven J. HorowitzComments [12]Print | Email More Almost 10 years after the release of their last album with the original lineup, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is back in full effect. Last night, the group assembled members of the media to get a sneak taste of their upcoming reunion album 'Uni 5: The World's Enemy' at Legacy Studios in New York City. With Bizzy Bone missing in action, Layzie Bone, Krayzie Bone, Flesh-N-Bone and Wish Bone stood behind an engineering board in front of their seated audience and played 13 of the 67 tracks recorded for their comeback album, puffing blunts and swigging Heinekens while their freshly minted tracks boomed through the studio speakers. And after a string of setbacks that included Flesh-N-Bone's incarceration, group acrimony and label feuds, the Cleveland-based group is back like they never left. The album hinges on the classic singsong, rapid-fire style that first put them on the map, with tracks like the inspirational 'See Me Shine,' cautionary street tale 'Gangsta's Glory' and knocking 'Determination' capturing the same sound and spirit that fans have come to love from the quintet. But with the old comes the new, and the group played a few cuts that employ a crisp style that they call "universe." "Instead of doing 16 bars," explained Layzie Bone, "we share a 16." Their newly hatched style makes for some of the album's tightest cuts, with the sunny 'Universe' beaming with each member completing each other's melodies, swirling into a creamy blend of vocal harmonies that flow on top of searing trumpets and glossy keys. The sinister 'Let Ya Self Go' rounded out the session with the group flowing over a delicate chipmunk vocal sample, with shady synths brooding under their densely layered vocals. The group fielded a few questions from attendees, explaining that it's taken them years to find the right label situation before they ended up inking a deal with Warner Bros. "Interscope wasn't showing us any keen interest at all," said Krayzie Bone. "They was tryin' to retire us," added Layzie Bone. After over 18 years in the game, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is far from calling it quits. With a tentative release date set for December 22, Uni 5: The World's Enemy could include some of their sharpest, most realized tracks to date. In the meantime, the group is holding listening sessions dubbed "Think Tanks" for fans to get feedback on their new fare, giving them a good idea of what to include on the final tracklist of the new album. But based on what we heard, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is back, flows as tight as ever and ready to get the respect they deserve.

I think Sonnenfeld would be a very important part to the look and feel of the movie. He has a one-of-a-kind vibe that would need to be a part of another MIB movie. That's like asking to franchise to be taken over have someone like Tim Burton did the 1st 2 movies...love him or hate him, the movie would be different with another director starting what was already established.
-
What's your source? Every interview I've watched and article I've read said how happy MJ was to be working and on stage. Watching all of this footage speaks for itself. If he hated it, it would have shown. You could tell he was having the time of his life. You can't fake that over 3 months of video taping that he only intended for his own personal collection.
-
Ths better happen...with all of the original people behind the 1st 2 movies. And they need to push for a stronger script than the 2nd one. I'm excited for this. Other than this and the next Bad Boys movie, I have little interest in FP's movies.

There's nothing about the movie to spoil. It was great. It's 90% footage of performances. MJ was in his prime in this footage and it's unfortunate that no one was aware...especially the millions of fans who loved him again after the news of his passing. His dancing was lightning sharp. His voice was as amazing as ever. To see him instruct and interact with this people was amazing. He handled everything so simply and humbly, yet comes off as a total genious. As he speaks, you can see that his is a master at what he does and that he has a vision for every moment of the show. Because it is compiled of rehearsal footage, there are moments where he isn't singing at 100% or let's lines go, or doesn't quite dance at 100% but that doesn't happen too often...especially after the movie gets going. The people that are apart of the show are truely amazing. He literally was surrounded by the best of the best. His lead guitarist was stunning. The visuals created for the show were brilliant. It's very interesting how so much of the show reinvented classic MJ material that previous performances and music videos set as the standard. He truely did reinvent classic material instead of just doing the same thing he had done in the past...yet kept enough classic material the same to keep it MJ brand. To hear 30 years (plus) of material that I grew up being presented this way made it all feel new again for 2009. During alot fo the rehearsal footage, you forget that it's just a rehearsal. You are only reminded when you don't hear an audience, or notice that they aren't in costume. If u are and MJ fan, you will love this. If not, you will probably appricate the movie for what it is.

Can love and hate exist at the same time? Ha ha...this is hilarious. This is not my cup of tea but these guys are talented...ha ha. I just posted a live video of this on my Facebook.

I actually didn't see it today. Work kept me busy all day and I didn't wanna see a late-showing while exhasted. I'll be seeing tomorrow for sure. Can't wait.
