So I'm going to spend some money
JumpinJack AJ replied to BigBloss's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I makes my head hurt when it comes 2 answering this ?uestion...ha ha. -
Keep in mind that The S-N-P Show is a reality show. Scenes are edited and voiceovers are played with 2 be more dramatic and entertaining than real life. Yes, they do have differences and yes, Spin is viewed by some as the 3rd wheel (since non-Hip-Hop fans don't appriciate the DJ) but i never saw their return as a great feat. It always seemed bound 2 happen. I know a new album was coming once the show started airing.

FINALLY!! LL came back (tho' the album wasn't that good), Heavy D has a new album out, Queen Latifah is dropping a new one soon, Naughty is coming back, MC Lyte is doing the Almost September thing. Here comes S-N-P!!! I got this article from someone on the CyberTLC message board. Now Jazzy needs 2 get FP's butt back in gear!! ---- After a seven-year hiatus from touring, pioneering female rap group Salt-N-Pepa are planning to embark on a tour of Australia and Asia. Cheryl "Salt" James-Wray and Sandra "Pepa" Denton are currently booking dates for the tour, which will also feature the group's DJ, Deidra "Spinderella" Roper. The group will hit the road in late 2009-early 2010, as part of a number of upcoming initiatives, which includes a brand new, untitled album. "The main thing about Salt-N- Pepa, is that they are a performing group, which takes pride in their performances and are known as a group that puts on spectacular shows [and] it is strictly about maintaining the brand," group manager Gavin Wray explained to AllHipHop.com. "It is not about the money, we don't necessarily need to do gigs on the regular, we would rather maintain the brand and make the right choices collectively and when the time is right and the group is ready we will hit the stage like we never left. That is one of the main reason's why Salt -N- Pepa's image has been polished and respected as a group on and off the stage for so many years and years to come." Salt-N-Pepa were the first female Hip-Hop group to achieve mainstream success, selling over 20 million records worldwide since their debut in 1985. The group was the subject of their own reality show titled The Salt-N-Pepa Show, which aired on VH1 in 2007.

He's not destroying his career...he's just not watering his music career...which sucks for us...but he's not destroying his career at all (even tho' i think Hancock and I Am Legend are his 2 worst movies...Seven Pounds actually looks amazing 2 me). And it never took him 10 years 2 go Willennium. There was only a 6 year gap between Willennium and Lost + Found. Between 1999 and 2005, i remember JJ+FP performing 2gether in 2000, 2002, 2003 (plus 2004, i think). And who said he didn't want 2 do the "BNF" remix? It probably just got swallowed up on all of the other things he was doing at the time. And lets be honest, "BNF2K7" is not a great track. Why would he wanna rhyme alongside Peedie? From the looks of your reply, u need 2 pop on He's The DJ... and listen 2 "Time To Chill."

Oh no...here's comes AJ...the postive thinker.... I'm not sweating it...ha ha. I still have faith that he'll come back around. Besides, he never finished the answer with "ever again" or "at the moment." He was rockin' the mic just this week. Everybody has nothing but positive vibes towards his music career. Only time will tell.

Extra! Extra! Real all about it! Fresh Prince is back! -
Thanx 4 posting all this news Ale!! This performance needs 2 be linked on the MUSIC board. It was awesome seeing him perform with the students and 2 see how everyone was losing their minds.

It really bugs me that he's probably wearing the classic FP chain. If he waz actually talented and walking in the footsteps of his royal Freshness i'd be okay with it. Sadly, K. Smith is not in a fraction of what FP was back in the day.

Awesome!! THANX!!

Age ain't nuttin' but a number...

I gotta be real...the beat isn't that bad. If they just turn the synths down during the hook. The R-N-B vocals are a nice touch. And K's lyrics are much better than in the past things. His flow has improved too. And heck, i actually like the way the video looks. The bottom line is that he still comes aross as a bogus artist with fake lyrics. I agree we should put this stuff in the CITM forum.

I love that he did this...i'll watch the videos 2nite or 2morrow. THANX!!

I think the fact that FP is sleeping on his music career is the saddest thing. So many people listened 2 that album and loved it. They were surprised by it becuz of Columbia's pop promotion of him. He wasn't being marketed as a rapping movie star anymore. No silly soundtrack songs on the album. FP had some things 2 say and people agreed. The music was good, his passion was there, the lyrics were dope. Jazzy was at his side. Her performances were good and his video found the fine line between classic Fresh Prince and 2005. He promoted the album and carried himself like a Hip-Hop artist since he was being promoted (kinda) like one. He got attention whether people loved the music or not. If he would have dropped an album 2 or 3 years later with that same mindstate and mission, he very well might be at the top of the Hip-Hop game right now. I think the decline of mainstream Hip-Hop and commerical rap has gone so low for so long that some people really are saying "wow, there really is no MUSIC in that artist's production. Wow, people like Lil' Wayne and Plies can't even form a sentence." The average IQ of your average rap star is 5 years...the same amount of years that they are usually popular. U try 2 kill an art for so long and u are gonna get a backlash. It'll get people's head right and say "whoa, FP really does have something good 2 say." I'm hoping he stirs up his passion for Hip-Hop again next year...it just feels right.

DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - Higher Baby
JumpinJack AJ replied to Ale's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
The info for the video is bogus. The song was done in 1992 and came out the same here. It was tied in with the Olympics on an album called Barcelona Gold. Coca-Cola did have at least 3 promo CDs that came out with their product featurings off that album. This JJ+FP track was on one of them. I have both Barcelona Gold and the Coca-Cola promo sampler CD. The mystery behind this song was that whatever network that was airing the Olylmpics that year aired videos and performances from the artists on that album. I remember that JJ+FP was featured one night and i totally forgot about it and missed it. My one friend said something about watching it and that they actually did a music video for this song. It's hard 2 believe they would do a video to only have it be aired once. I've never found any video featuring a performance or video of this song. -
Beyonce and Justin Timberlake on SNL
JumpinJack AJ replied to Jazzy Julie's topic in Caught in the Middle
Funny. Justin Timberlake is histarical when he acts. He surprises me every time. Like most SNL skits (whether they are funny or not), this skit has no button. No funny finish line that makes it feel like it's over. We're the dancers. -
I stumbled upon him performing on The Jimmy Kimmel Show. He's awful. He even performed "Good Life" which is a song i really like by him and his butchered his own song. He tried 2 mix it with his current awful singing style instead of rapping it.

Before i open this...i'm crossing my fingures for a wardrobe malfunction. -
The track was recorded aroun the Willennium era. Infact, they may have done more than 1 track since Jazzy Jeff + A Touch of Jazz worked with MJ. I remember a TV Guide article on MJ stating how he did colabos for Unbreakable and FP was listed as one of them tho' it waz never released.
