Awesome line up!!

EPMD is one of the greatest!! This is dope. I love it!! Thanx for sharing. I usually like their grittier sound but this is good. The scary thing is, with the right promotion, i could see this on the radio. Does anyone know if they are still on Def Jam? I can't see Jay-Z keeping real Hip-Hop on Def Jam so i'm assuming they were let go awhile back. I can't wait for the album. It's been almost 10 years! Just hearing them on the same track took my mind 2 a good place.

FP's akward hand presentation was hilarious. I do have 2 think the funniest part was Justin Timberlake and Ryan Reynolds...ha ha. Maybe if FP wasn't wearing that corny sweater vest he would have felt more free 2 be funny.

"A Nightmare On My Street" music video
JumpinJack AJ replied to S-10's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
My dream is 2 see the video for the 1st time as i'm on my death bed. -
They definitely did some shows overseas by their 2nd album if not their 1st. JJ+FP was about as big as u could in each era of their career.

That track is DOPE!! HEAVY D + THE BOYZ - Cuz He's Always Around Peaceful Journey (1991) I grew up on this album cut!!

I made these back in 2002. I thought the might bring a smile or 2 to a few faces. For some reason the board wouldn't let me upload both so i have links 2 veiw them both bigger. The 1st was made the winter after Born To Reign came out when someone posted pix of FP wiping out after a ski trip. The 2nd was when DJ Jazzy Jeff and Floetry had a falling out and Jeff demanded they bring back the A Touch of Jazz TV and ATOJ car...parodying "Who Stole The DJ?" and "Who Stole My Car." GRAVITY AIN'T NOTHING BUT TROUBLE http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?...mageID=45229852 WHO STOLE THE TV? http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?...mageID=45229856

HEAVY D + THE BOYZ - We Got Our Own Thang Big Tyme (1989)

I bought my first Hip-Hop magazine in awhile 2day. That was because XXL's November 2008 issue is their 1st ever "Hollywood Issue" and on page 70, u'll find Hip-Hop's finest. While there isn't any new info u'll find on the page, it's just good 2 see the 'Prince getting love. It has one of my fav pix from him from 1999 (the Willennium era). It's the black and white pic that was featured in some other magazine with him rocking a white hat 2 da back, a white wifebeater and black denium. Other emcees and rappers who act are also featured in this issue, LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, Common Sense, Mos Def, Ice-T, Ice Cube and more. Hopefully we'll see FP in more Hip-Hop magazines for recognition like this...and for some new music. On the last page there are "Awards"...FP is mentioned in the following... Best Sitcom: The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (winner) Best Death Scene: Will Smith as Robert Neville in I Am Legend Best Crying Scene: Will Smith when he gets teh job in The Pursuit of Happyness Best Actor Comedic Performance: Will Smith as John Hancock in Hancock Best Performance In An Animated Movie: Will Smithas Oscar in SharkTale (winner)

Yeah, he did another track with Kwame...the title excapes my mind tho.' And Jazzy remixed a handful of L+F trax. There was talk of releasing an EP which never happened (WHICH SUCKS!!!) He premiered the remix of "I Wish I Made That" on Tim Westwood's show. -
Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble (freestyle)
JumpinJack AJ replied to Ale's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Those are actually the original 1986 lyrics. That 1988 Extended Remix was more radio friendly. -
JJ+FP was big way before The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Since 2day's commercial rap stars are totally different from Hip-Hop stars from back in the day, it's impossible 2 compare and say "JJ+FP was as big as..." After all, it's over 20 years later and we are still talking about JJ+FP. Fans of Lil' Wayne will not be doing the same 10 years from now. Rock The House was JJ+FP's enterence in2 Hip-Hop. They got respect from both a Hip-Hop audience and a mainstream audience with "Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble" which was 1st released independently. From there, their next 2 singles were aimed more for the Hip-Hop audience. "The Magnificent Jazzy Jeff" and "A Touch of Jazz" both did well. Other songs like "Just One of Those Days" and "Guys Ain't Nothing But Trouble were also released for promotion. JJ+FP was part of pioneering Hip-Hop 2 a larger audience and mixing comedy in with the music. He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper was next. It was HUGE! "Brand New Funk" started it off bringing straight Hip-Hop energy. It was followed by the signature single "Parents Just Don't Understand." Next up was the radio hit "Nightmare On My Street." It was the 1st double-length Hip-Hop album. It was also the 1st album accepted by the mainstream that was half DJ trax. Then, in 1989, JJ+FP got experiemental. They mixed in some new sounds, instruments, and ways of making music. And In This Corner... had some steam with the lead single "I Think I Can Beat Mike Tyson" and just a lil' bit with "The Groove" (a reworked remix of "Jazzy's Groove" featuring Jazz legend Grover Washington Jr). During this time in Hip-Hop, Hardcore Hip-Hop (which would have the spawn of gangsta rap) and Policital Hip-Hop started getting attention. That was the responce 2 people like M.C. Hammer getting a new level of success with their party Hip-Hop and danceable Hip-Hop. JJ+FP kinda got swallowed up in that. As FP went on a spending frenzy and got in some legal trouble, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air came along which saved his situation and put some new energy in the group why they took a nearly 2 year musical hiatus so they could come back strong. There's a brief history. Look around this website for more info.

With all the talk of Heavy D's new album, my interest in him has sparked. After Fresh Prince and LL Cool J, Heavy D is my next favorite emcee. While i waz checking old videos by him on YouTube, it was reminding me just how large Hev D was and is. So, for those who love The Overweight Lover Diddly Diddly D, here's a compilation of the classics. For those of u who aren't in 2 him but want 2 get school on him and on real Hip-Hop, please check these. I did my best 2 put them in order of release. Universal has it so i can't just put the videos in here...so here are the URLs. "Mr. Big Stuff" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HArC7lJ3Xg "Moneyearnin' Mount Vernon" feat. JOHN LEGEND + BRANDY - Quickly Evolver (2008) Hmmm...i'm almost half way thru' this album. The music is good but not on the level of his 1st album...or the 2nd (tho' i didn't listen 2 that one as much). Brandy is NICE on this one. Andre 3000 has a good guest spot. Kanye West continues 2 reach for new levels of 'suck' on his appearance. Why is John ripping the honest soul out of his music and polishing it??
-
GARY "LIL' G" JENKINS - So Sexy The Other Side (2007) I didn't even know he had a solo album...this is good so far. Silk alumnni in the house!!

I would kill 2 have that as my biggest problem in life. Ha ha...let it sit in your heart...u'll know what 2 do. Don't miss out on something that is big for u...but be smart about it.

"How do we make a promotional poster for a movie like this?" ... ..."Just put Will's face on it...that way we know people will see it." Not bad, but not creative in anyway.

Jennifer Hudson's Mother & Brother Killed
JumpinJack AJ replied to MissAshley's topic in Caught in the Middle
This is just an awful story. It just gets more and more tragic. It has nothing 2 do with American Idol, music, or anything. I put myself in the shoes of anyone going thru' this and i just can't imagin the pain and confusion those involved are experiencing. What makes someone do something like this? I guess anyone who was there is now dead making it hard 2 figure out what happened. I send my thoughts and prayers out 2 those effected. May justice be served. Not 2 make light of this news, but Jennifer's album is REALLY good. If u like R-N-B, u should like her album alot. -
JJ+FP: NON-ALBUM MUSIC LIST
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Man, seeing this list is really reminding me that i need 2 update it. When i got a new computer i lost alot of my old files. There is a decent bit of stuff that needs added. I posted this in Jan 2005...nothing that waz released after 2004 is on here and i noticed a few things prior to 2004 that are missing. Sounds like a New Year's Resolution/Goal 2 me!! -
I just wanted 2 send a prayer out 2 a few people in my area. Some fool with a gun was on the loose downtown just shooting people. Schools and other buildings were on lock down and at least 3 people were shot. Then, in the next closest mall 2 the one i work in, a jewelery clerk was shot and some guy stole over $4,000 in jewelery. I can't imagin what kind of person thinks a few thousand dollars in rings, watches, necklaces, etc is worth shooting and possibly killing someone an also putting yourself in jail for a long time assuming u'll be caught. I pray for a speedy recovery and that justice is served. What a crazy world we live in...
