So what did everyone think of Hancock?
JumpinJack AJ replied to Jazzy Julie's topic in Will Smith Movies
Yeah, the end is very anti-climactic. It has some things 2 be desired. -
Thanx 4 the info...but i think i'll pass on the movie. Looks like it has a few good songs in it tho.'

Important music burns itself in2 your brain! :) I remember me and my cousins just hangin' out when i finally got Rock The House. Chillin' in the basement, playing videos games, just listening 2 Rock The House the whole way thru'. Those were the days...ha ha. I think my older cousin already had the album but had lost it. He's teh one who really got me in2 Hip-Hop at a young age.

KEL SPENCER TO WIN UMA BEST LYRICIST OF THE YEAR!
JumpinJack AJ replied to 3cookies's topic in Caught in the Middle
Allow me 2 repeat Puffy's profound words....VOTE OR DIE! -
I am resisting the temptation to reply 2 this by just posting "BUMP" (the Sony board members will laugh at that). Instead, i request quality of quantity.

Q&A With LL Cool J & Billboard On Exit 13
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
THaNx!! I like him taking the high road and focusing on the album instead of worrying about his next move. So many people do that and that's why albums die away so quick. Back in the 90's, many albums lasted for a year or more with singles, videos, performances, etc. These days, u get a video or 2 and the album is done. -
I can't get it 2 play either...this sucks!!
-
Yeah, but they can mess u up and ruin your life just like drugs and alcohol...ha ha.

I don't think it would be good 2 put them out there in a big way. If he was 2 ever release old unreleased stuff, i think it should only be done exclusively for fans. We live in a age where pretty much anything can be released (even tho' most things never released never see the light of day). I don't think any of us want JJ+FP's image tarnished by tracks being released that they never felt were good enough to release. It would just water down their legacy. Look at 2Pac. He is one of Hip-Hop's greatests. However, they are slowly releasing EVERYTHING. He recorded so many songs while on Deathrow cuz he wanted 2 fulfill his album contract and get off the label. Much of the stuff that he recorded in 1996 is sloppy freestyles with weak subject matter and little focus. Any true 2Pac fan will tell u that alot of the stuff on his doctored albums is no where near the level of standard that he would hold. 2 make things worse, they doctor those songs with idiotic guest appearances and new, crappy production. It's tarnishing 2Pac's legacy. FP has been very open about how he doesn't let just anyone be around him while he's creating music and how he doesn't let just anyone hear what he's recorded. He has talked about not letting people hear his "weak stuff." I'm all for unreleased stuff being released properly, but not just releasing everything reqardless of the quality. We as big fans would probably appriciate most of it anyway, but it shouldn't be released as if it were his best and available to everyone.

I got Rock The House on cassette. I don't think i actually got it until 1991. When i did, i'm pretty sure i remember getting it when it was marked down REALLY cheap. I think most cassettes when for $12 at the time unless they were brand new. I got Rock The House for probably $6 or so. I didn't get it on CD until 1998 at a regular CD price. I then got a Japan pressing of it that was released in 1997 and had the "Girls..." Instrumental as a bonus track. I think i got it in 1999 for the price of a regular import from Japan. It wasn't until 2003 that i realized that Rock The House was going for so much online. The few people who wanna part with their's realize that it's a rare collectable. I don't know why they don't just print more like they did back in 1997/1998.

AOL did a "Top Black Superheroes" feature...Hancock is number 7. Check it. I'm hoping this link will work for every one. http://www.blackvoices.com/blogs/2008/06/3...imDBDL3_link1-a

FP likes 2 change his mind...at least when talking 2 the press. We all know he has music on his mind and enjoys it more than the acting. It just takes timing the constant support from music fans and true fans of the man himself who appriciate his music.

KEL SPENCER TO WIN UMA BEST LYRICIST OF THE YEAR!
JumpinJack AJ replied to 3cookies's topic in Caught in the Middle
R we all voting everyday??? Just a reminder. We gotta make this happen and pull 2gether like never b4. I know he's the best...u know he's the best...but without dedication from all of us, we could end up disappointed with the outcome. VOTE!! -
SILK - I Gave To You Lose Control (1992) Holy crap! I grew up on this album and haven't listened 2 it in ages...but the melodies and many of the lyrics are still rolling off the top of my tongue. What a classic R-N-B album!!

I can't say i understand what Jay-Z is saying here. Is just just saying that Eric B. + Rakim were on a different tip from JJ+FP or was he saying Eric B. + Rakim were intellegent, well respected true Hip-Hop and that JJ+FP was fluffy, pointless, pop garbage? I've never had a huge amount for Jay-Z so i could care less, but i think he needs 2 think b4 he speaks, becuz reguardless of what his point is, it's not clear.

Busta Rhymes To Be Dropped By Interscope
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
Busta Rhymes will do well wherever he goes. Becuz he's a true Hip-Hop staple who can still get legit commerical success; i think that's why he's signing 2 big labels. Think about it, there aren't any Hip-Hop superstars like their used 2 be in the 80's and 90's. The main reason is cuz most of the commercial Rap that gets play is rubbish. But if there was going to be a true Hip-Hop superstar, they would most likely be signed 2 a big label. I'm not saying i agree with the politics. I'm just saying that that's what could be his reasoning behind it. -
CHRISTINA MILIAN - You Make Me Laugh (self-titled) (Import) (2002)

Very cool of him. I don't think anyone here is bitter about him not posting. I think we all know he's busy and that he's got love for us.

...possibly the dumbest thing ever said on the board. Congratz!!

The Truth About The Ghostwriting
JumpinJack AJ replied to Turntable's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
"Just Cruisin'" is the song that i think FP was specifically talking about but he could have been talking about all of the ones they worked on 2gether. Everyone used 2 say that Jay-Z or Nas co-wrote "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" but i've never agreed with that. The song is too simple and silly to have a co-writer. Then again, both of them only talked about being flashy back then. If either of them worked on the song, why wouldn't they have hopped on that So So Def Remix that features new lyrics and cameos?! -
D'Angelo just released a "Best of...So Far" album incase u cared. THE PHARCYDE - Y? (Remix Instrumental) Jay Dee: The Delicious Vinyl Years 95-98: Originals, Remixes, & Rarities (1995/2007)
