  1. Wow! Amazing! If u are a real Hip-Hop head, u can just feel the vibe in that room that night when u watch this. This is like a breath of fresh air. Why isn't dope stuff like this getting mainstream success anymore. After seeing that video, it's amazing 2 see how any of the people on the radio are famous at all. Hip-Hop Lives!!
  2. I tend 2 overlook reviews. I don't read them til after i see the movie. Why on earth do i care what some idiot who gets his stuff published actually thinks? I don't. And i'm not gonna go in2 a movie with what they said in mind. I'm not really in2 movies when it comes 2 scripts and stuff. I just care that it is entertaining...and we all know there are quite a few movies out there that are entertaining that aren't actually good. I respect a movie for good quality...but half the time i'm gonna choose a silly movie that i find more entertaining over a movie that's actually really good. I'll choose Bill + Ted's Excellent Adventure over The Departed any day. Who cares what these people say. I'm gonna see the movie 2morrow nite and THEN i'll read all this stuff.
  3. SCAR, CEE-LO, BIG BOI, + DJ SWIFF - (You Caught Me) Smilin' Different Strokes by Different Folks (2005) I wasted so much time getting around 2 this Sly + The Family Stone tribute album....it's amazing. Will.I.Am, The Roots, John Legend, Joss Stone, Devin Lima, John Mayer, Chuck D, D'Angelow, Janet Jackson, etc...
  4. DJ JAZZY JEFF + FRESH PRINCE FAN RULE BOOK: Rule #368 (Page 55) If u have never danced to "Apache" by The Sugarhill Gang (done in front of people or shamefully in a locked room all by yourself), u simply cannot be a JJ+FP fan. Yes, it is true, no fan has NOT done this dance at least once. I remember laughing so hard the 1st time they did that i couldn't copy them for about an hour. I did this dance in a puppet show for kids as one of the 3 actual actors in the show, in high school pep rallies, and at all 5 of he weddings i've been 2 in the past year.
  5. Why would u want him 2 ruin it for all of us?! Seal, i'm glad u got 2 check it. I can't wait 2 see it Friday!
  6. Chipmunks in the house!! Once again my friends... :)
  7. That's funny. She really needs 2 let go of that bitterness. Bitterness will kill u in the end if u let it grab on 2 something deep down inside u. I doubt FP is holding on2 any bitterness, but the same goes for him if he is any in his heart. It's been over 10 years. Get over it...shake it off.
  8. 2PAC + CANDY HILL - What'z Ya Phone# Nu Mixx Klazzics; Vol. 2 (Evolution: Duets And Remixes) (2007)
  9. I'm surprised season 5 isn't coming out today since I Am Legend is about 2 drop. Probably when it hits DVD....
  10. Coincedence... DE LA SOUL - ? On the Chappelle Show (2003)
  11. What an idiot (Rick Ross that is)... That's all i have 2 say. This is why i don't listen 2 the radio.
  12. I didn't know it waz airing yet...i thought it waz gonna start airing closer 2 Legend.
  13. Life has gotten in the way. Things as my studio are insane. Between the crazy business, the people who have quit becuz they can't handle the volume of business, and lack of coverage, i have been working myself 2 death. I'm trying 2 get more sleep just so i can stand for 2 and half more weeks. Since i'm going 2 bed earlier, i don't get online as much or for as long since i usually do all my online stuff at nite.
  14. I'm not even listening 2 anything (watching Run's House)...but i just had 2 compliment u on playing that joint!! C-L-A-S-S-I-C!! Get your stuff 2gether D'Angelo!! We want a new album.
  15. Is it just me, or are the R-N-B nominations excellent or what? I'm impressed...infact i'm excited about them. The Rap ones suck. Common Sense deserves 2 win the ones he's nominated for. I mean, do any of those fools really deserve being considered?
  16. 2PAC - Dopefiend's Diner The Best of 2Pac: Volume 2 (1991ish/2007)
  17. What a tyme 4 my speakers 2 go out. I'll be coming back 2 this!!
  18. Ha ha...i had the remix of "Witch Doctor" on my myspace a few weeks ago. I'm actually hyped for the movie. The trailor that i saw was pretty funny. I orignally wanted it 2 be an "all animated movie" like Sharktale but after seeing the trailor and hearing the music, think they might have done this right. I plan on seeing it early in the day and seeing I Am Legend later in the evening. The soundtrack was supposed 2 be out by now but i think it got bumped closer 2 the release of the movie.
  19. Who wrote that...i'll kill him with my bare hands. :fencing:
  20. SPICE GIRLS - Voodoo Greatest Hits (Import) (2007)
  21. The Best of 2Pac Volume 1 and Volume 2 came out 2day. I had no idea these albums were in the works, but they dropped 2day. I've been a fan of 2Pac's since the very beginning (since Digital Underground at least). Being a "Best of..." collection, they feature half hit singles and half other stuff. Volume 1 is called "Thug"...Volume 2 being "Life"....however, the music on each album doesn't actually fit the title when it comes 2 subject matter. Anyways, between the 2 albums, u'll find the hits "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted, California Love , So Many Tears, I Ain't Mad At Cha, How Do U Want It, Trapped, Chanes, Hail Mary, Until The End of Time, Keep Ya Head Up, and Brenda's Got A Baby. The other tracks u'll find are Unconditional Love (one of my all time favz), Definition of A Thug N!**@, Still Ballin' (who put this doctored garbage on here?), Never Call U B!+ch Again (another personal fav), They Don't Give A F*** About Us, Ghetto Gospel (another personal fav), and the doctored version of When I Get Free. Sadly, they don't fill up all 80 minutes of the CD's (why don't compilations and Best of... albums do that?!?) The real attraction for 2Pac fans will be the 4 "new" tracks. Volume 1 features a new remix of "Dear Mama" featuring Anthony Hamilton. The warm soulful production is great and stays true 2 the vibe of the original. Anthony Hamilton's vocals add flava 2 the song rather than mess it up like most doctored collabos done with 2Pac's music. The other track is the unreleased song "Resist The Temptation." The original version is definitely from 1991ish. 2Pac's flow very 2Pacalypse Now. The new production for the song is great...timeless and something 2Pac would have flown over. Amel's apparance also enhances the song rather than stealing the spotlight. Volume 2 features the "2Pac Original" Acoustic version of "Thugz Mansion." I like Nas and all, but i never really wanted him on "Thugz Mansion." There wazn't really a reason 4 him 2 be on the track. This version offers the song the way it should have been...2Pac alone just dropping his thought provoking lyrics. The acoustic production and the vocals on the hook from Better Dayz are still here. The unreleased song on Volume 2 is "Dopefiend's Diner." 2Pac is actually singing on this song but it's dope. I'm guessing this one was done 1991-1993 and has since been doctored. Infact, Ivan and Carvin (formally of A Touch of Jazz) produced the remix. The profanity-free lyrics tell a story that will keep u hooked 2 the song until it's over. While i've heard many of these songs 100's of time, i gotta give them props 4 the new releases. After all, it's been 9 years since "Greatest Hits" came out. In the liner notes, Afenie says that she promises 2 keep 2Pac's released and unreleased music available 2 the people (even tho' 'Pac Life was said to be the last album). One thing that i'm really happy 2 see with these releases i that they support mostly stuff that 2Pac released while alive or at least is undoctored. Most of us will agree that the doctored and remixed stuff simply isn't on 2Pac's level or even worth listening 2 compared 2 his original stuff Another thing i like is that the stuff that is newly doctored is GOOD. The production is good, supports the subject matter as well as 2Pac's flow, AND it doesn't sound fake like most of the stuff on Pac's Life, Loyal To The Game, and some of the stuff on Until The End of Time and Better Dayz. The newly released songs don't feature unnatural and attention-stealing cameos from other artists either. They fit the songs. And lastely, the songs themselves are not rushed stuff from the Deathrow era where he waz just recording like CrAzY 2 get off the label...they are songs that have a meaning or a story instead of random hate and violence. Hopefully this is a sign of where future projects will go 2 clean up 2Pac's legacy a bit.
  22. I can't say i'm a fan of Pimp C at all...but for those of u who like UGK, here's the newz. God Bless the dead... Rapper Pimp C Found Dead in LA Hotel AP Posted: 2007-12-04 20:25:16 LOS ANGELES (AP) - Pimp C, who spun searing tales of Texas street life into a key role in the rise of Southern hip-hop, was found dead in an upscale hotel on Tuesday. He was 33. The rapper formed Underground Kingz with partner-in-rhyme Bun B while the pair was in high school, and their often laconic delivery paired with wittily dangerous lyrics influenced a generation of current superstars like Lil' Wayne. T.I. had the group on as guests when he remade their 1994 song "Front, Back and Side to Side" for his "King" album. To a mainstream audience, Pimp C was best known for UGK's cameo on the Jay-Z hit "Big Pimpin'," and for "Free Pimp C" T-shirts and shout-outs, ubiquitous in rap several years ago while he was jailed on gun charges. On Tuesday, his MySpace page had been changed to read: "C the Pimp is FREE at last." Born Chad Butler, Pimp C was found dead in a room at the Mondrian hotel, a longtime music industry hangout not far from the House of Blues on Sunset Strip, where he had performed on Saturday night alongside rap veteran Too $hort. Capt. Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County coroner's office said Butler had apparently died while in bed in his hotel room. "At this time there's no signs of foul play," Winter said. "It appears to be possibly natural, but pending autopsy and toxicology we can't say the cause." Manager Rick Martin identified Butler and his death was announced by publicist Nancy Byron. "This morning saw the loss of a man that was not only a client, but a very dear friend at a time when he had the most to live for," Martin said in a statement. "He was my best friend and I will always love him." Though they never enjoyed massive pop chart success, UGK's early CDs are considered landmarks for the then-burgeoning Texas hip-hop scene, which also featured the Geto Boys. Signed to a deal with Jive Records, they released "Too Hard to Swallow" in 1992, "Super Tight" two years later, and "Ridin' Dirty" in 1996, considered a rap classic. Over laid-back beats, they laid out incisive details that remain Southern rap mainstays: descriptions of sex and conspicuous consumption, wood-grain steering wheels and triple-beam scales used to weigh drugs. The duo's career was derailed when Pimp C was jailed for three years in 2002 on gun charges. But he got as much exposure as ever, as the "Free Pimp C" slogan spread. An unauthorized album of Pimp C's freestyle rhymes was released while he was in prison. When he and Bun B finally put out an album this year, they felt such a need to re-establish themselves they titled their album "Underground Kingz," as if to underscore a new start. Critics praised the CD, which included the hit "International Player's Anthem (I Choose You)," featuring OutKast. Pimp C's verse riffs on high-class women and cars: "I'm pullin' Bentleys off the lot. Smashed up the gray one, bought me a red. Everytime we hit the parking lot we turn heads," he raps. Barry Weiss, CEO of Jive, said in a statement: "We mourn the unexpected loss of Chad. He was truly a thoughtful and kindhearted person. He will be remembered for his talent and profound influence as a pioneer in bringing southern rap to the forefront." Butler, who grew up in Port Arthur, Texas, came from a musical lineage. His father was a professional trumpet player, and the rapper studied classical music in high school. He even received a Division I rating on a tenor solo at a University Interscholastic League choir competition. "That's how I came up listening to everything," he told The Associated Press in a 2005 interview. "Music don't have no color or no face. It's a universal language. I think being exposed to all that kind of stuff influences the way I make records." Pimp C is survived by a wife and three children. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Coroner: Pimp C May Have Died of Natural Causes Posted Dec 4th 2007 6:09PM by TMZ Staff Capt. Ed Winter of the L.A. County Coroner's office tells TMZ that it appears as though rapper Pimp C died of natural causes in a Hollywood hotel room today. We're told no drug paraphernalia or other drugs were found in the room. The rapper, we've learned, was found fully clothed on top of the bed. He did not seem to have fallen or injured himself and he was positioned on his side. Winter said it did not appear that there was anyone else in the room at the time of his death. An autopsy will be performed and toxicology test results will be available in six to eight weeks. Pimp C, whose real name is Chad Butler, was one half of the Houston rap duo UGK.
