Don't sugar coat it with the term "Hip-Pop"...it's commerical rap. Watered down, unfocused, uninspiring, uncreative, non-rhyme-writing-skilled, phoney, concept-lacking, negative, unoriginal, commercial trash. It has zero ties with Hip-Hop culture or anything real heads wanna have anything 2 do with.

Everybody has their own opinion. But i tend 2 read posts like this and the older (20+ crowd typically leans towards Willennium while those who are under 20 lean towards Lost + Found.

No doubt. Everything about the song is perfect...the production, the lyrics, FP's flow, the vibe...just everything. I love how the simplicity of it all actually leads 2 the over-the-top quality. Perfect Hip-Hop for the 9-3.

Alright, if u go 2 Wal-Mart, u can get the movie with a bonus CD with music "inspired by" The Pursuit of Happyness. Of course, all of these songs came out decades before the movie, so the whole "inspired by" tag is kinda funny. It's a nice mix of R-N-B and Soul songs. Here's the tracklisting. 1. I know that he put out a Trapped In The Closet DVD out a year or so ago. I didn't get that cuz it kinda annoyed me. Back in 1996 he put out a VHS that featured videos off his self-titled album. It's just music videos but it's good. They have since released it on DVD. He put out a VHS for 12 Play but i don't think they ever put that out on DVD. There is a DVD version of his Greatest Hits album that came out in 2003 and that's really good.

Like many have said. Hip-Hop will never die. It's just pretty dead when it comes 2 Hip-Hop getting commercial success. Which is sad...but sometimes u gotta kill something off so that it can be reborn. In the meantime, there is some good stuff out there, u just gotta dig 4 it. Besides, there's tons of 80's and 90's Hip-Hop 2 look 4. Otherwise, depending on your taste, there's other genres 2 check in2.

With the exception of Will 2K, Da Butta, and Freakin' It, Willennium has the best and most solid production Hip-Hop has seen in years. The fact that JJ+FP worked on it effortlessly in Philly is what created this masterpeice. The DJ Jazzy Jeff + A Touch of Jazz envolement made Willennium FP's most "at home" album since the official JJ+FP dayz. The videos were great and the music totally balanced out the more radio-ready vibe of BWS. Potnas, No More, So Fresh, The Rain, I'm Comin,' Afro Angel, Pump Me Up, Who Am I, Uuhhh,...who can front on that. Not 2 mention the input from MC Lyte, Slick Rick, Biz Markie, Tatyana Ali, Tra-Knox, + Jada. I think Lost + Found and Big Willie Style are tied for a kinda-close second. But Willennium has always been number one for me. I like it even better than And In This Corner... ...possibly even Rock The House.

I read the 1st part of...i'll read the whole thing later (gotta head 2 work). But i will say this. People who truely love music and the artists that make good music will always want albums becuz truely good artists will be recording albums anyway. There's no doubting that the music industry is changing...but there's doubting that the music industry sucks and that the majority of popular music sucks.

The best "solo" album...hands down.

This post is for the R. Kelly fans who may be interested in his recently released DVD. The show opens up with a akward mix of songs he's sung the hook on and/or produced and wrote for for Nick Cannon, B2K, Cassidy, and The Notorious B.I.G. It's just a very small way of starting a show in my opinion. From thru' a medley of mostly "too short" hits, only doing a verse or so of many songs. The songs skip from all over his career, including his biggest hits and a few lesser hits. He kind of neglects the hits off the 1st 3 albums and his inspirational songs like Storm Is Over Now, U Saved Me, The World's Greatest, and I Believe I Can Fly. I really like the way he interacts with the audience for the whole show...but he literally does it 4 the whole show. There aren't really any songs where he's just performing. His vocals are flawless for the entire show and so many of the songs will take the fans back. The show lasts 2 hours. The things i really don't like is the akward opening mix and some of the hits he overlooked. I also think the show is lacking class for 2/3rds of the show. The show is just way 2 oversexed and filled with uncecessary cussing. He doesn't tone it down til the end. It reminds me of the late Marvin Gaye shows where u have a man of God who is totally drowning in the pleasures of the flesh...ha ha. I also got bored during the 3 chapters of "In The Closet"...he needs 2 lock those songs away in the closet. In the special features (and the bonus disc that u can get at Best Buy), he explains the whole set which clears things up. He said he wanted 2 start off with a curve ball by starting the set with hits he did 4 other people. He also talks about how he choose 2 keep the inspirational songs out of the set cuz he wanted 2 just do a fun free show where people wouldn't think about the problems of the world. He also talked about just doing a simple and free kinda show which is why there isn't a crazy light show, drastic outfit changes, and tons of dancing. The real moments during the features are probably the best. He talks about being blessed with a sucessful 15-year career with so many hits and dedicated fans. He talks about his inspirations (Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Al Green, Gap Band, etc). The most touching moment is when he talks about his 3 kids and is almost brought 2 tears. I think most R. Kelly fans will like the show, but if u were turned off by some of the things i mentioned, u'll probably be wanting a lil' more. I guess i'd rate it 3.5ish outta 5.

I can't say i prefer one over the other. Different moods need different soundtracks in life. Overall, i admire people who can write good songs. The craft of putting words 2gether in a creative way is my main thing. I'd won't respect an artist who doesn't sound like they've ever taken and english class. When it comes 2 heavy subject matter and deep feelings, i think stuff like FP's "Tell Me Why" and 2Pac's "Brendas Got A Baby" are perfect examples of how songs like that are done right. A feel that some artists do them just as a PR move and they come off 1 demintional and fake...like Jadakiss' "Why." Straight party joints come in all different shapes and sizes tho.' Why the subject matter isn't that creative, it's the process of writing it that makes the song lyrically strong or poor. Busta Rhymes and LL come 2 mind when it comes 2 good party joints. They lyric standard is held very high even tho' the song is just about partying or living it up. When i think of emcees who can put 2gether good complex rhymes, i think of KRS-One and Wyclef. I don't really think Big Pun or B.I.G. were complex at all. I think B.I.G. had a flow that waz very good tho.' Why i never liked his voice or thought his lyrics were very good, his flow waz rhythmically musical. I haven't heard anything that complex on the radio in years. Everyone on the radio is VERY overrated. Another thing i really hate is idiot rappers who just freestyle or write crappy rhymes that have no subject matter and call it a song. Why i don't prefer just one style of lyrics, i think anyone who can only do party joints or club joints is weak. If u really don't have ANYTHING important or thought provoking 2 say, why do u even wanna write lyrics?

I haven't seen it yet. I really wanted 2 last weekend but i had 2 be in a wedding (including rehearsals an the reception) so it took all weekend. I'm hoping 2 catch it this weekend along with Shooter.

Marcus Houston's and Joss Stone's new albums are some of the best albums released in years. I haven't been able 2 get in2 that Amy Winehouse song, tho'.

For those that don't know, LL Cool J did a movie with Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey, and Justin Timberlake that went straight 2 DVD last year. It waz on sale 2 weeks ago, so i picked it up. Those of u who like Action/Dramas may wanna check the movie. It takes place in a corrupt city wear the police are taking money, drugs, weapons, etc from the criminals who they are persuing for their own personal gain. LL is an officer who is testing the waters in the corrupt department and walks the fine line between good and bad. Justin Timberlake is an aspiring journalist who has ?uestions about the police firm after attending a court hearing. From their, he builds a story that risks his life (nearly killing his girlfriend) and shakes up things at the police department. From there, the guns, blood, and action go crazy. I'm not gonna give away the end or the gritty details of the story, but i can't believe this movie wazn't released in theaters. LL Cool J shows a bit more of what his acting abilities are...as does Justin Timberlake in a surprisingly great performance.
