  1. I KNEW IT!!!!! Your all closet www fans. Hey, i've always said i like that movie. It's not my fav, but i've always liked it.
  2. Rappin’ Ron Reaches a Few People (Emphasis on Few) AOL News Far be it for me to bash NBA star Ron Artest for trying to show off his lyrical skills. With lyrics such as: "I admit I used to smoke before games.” “Hit the liquor store at halftime.” “David Stern! Damn, David Stern. I gotta teach you bout the ghetto there’s some things you should learn.” “Matt Lauer, up on NBC. You look like a girl, don’t talk to me.” It’s quite obvious he’s trying to reach out to the people of the world. SoundScan reported Artest’s new rap album reached one person last week. And by one person, I mean one single person -- SoundScan reported Artest only sold one copy of his album, “My World.” This tabulation would suggest his CDs weren’t flying off store shelves. What?!?! Ron Artest isn’t the next Jay-Z? OK, so that’s not breaking news. Yet, it’s still hard to believe he doesn’t have any family, entourage members, groupies, or even a friendly paper boy to pawn his music off on … beefing his sale numbers in the process. Selling only one album is too unbelievable to be true, even for rappin’ Ron. And it is. It turns out, SoundScan made a mistake, and Artest actually sold 343 albums. While 343 is better than one, it loses some spark (what little there is) when you consider that America’s #1 trailer park-moocher Kevin Federline managed to sell 6,485 copies of his CD during its debut week. Hate to break it to you Ron, but your 343 is looking sad now. I don’t know which is worse – losing out to K-Fed or 6,485 people actually buying K-Fed’s “Playing With Fire.” Clearly, Armageddon is on its way.
  3. HEAVY D + THE BOYZ - Nike Livin' Large (1987) Heavy D, DJ Eddie F, G-Wiz, Trouble T-Roy, Teddy Riley, Andre Harrell. Legendary team on this album.
  4. I'm one of those people who loves 10. I love The G.O.A.T. too. I view that as one of his very lyrical albums. All the beats were good...but only half of them were really solid. 10's lyrics weren't as watered down as some people think. And while all the beats were ready 4 radio, i think the sound of that album waz dope. The more i think about it, LL's lryics have NEVER slipped. He just focuses on different things on different albums. The only thing i've had problems with waz the production on his last 2 albums. Some of the sound just seemed unfinished 2 me. Then again, he doesn't need a glossy beat 2 take attention away from his lryics. That's what being a real emcee is about...not having a catchy trendy beat and a cute lil' R-N-B hook (or ignorant repeatative chant).
  5. Everyone is entitled 2 their own opinion and 2 their own taste. But when someone is praising Puffy, Jay-Z, Ja-Rule, Young Dro, etc. I think 2 myself "do u only listen 2 the commercial crap on the radio?" In most cases, the people on the radio don't make music...this make "tracks." The overpriced beats are quickly processed repeatative works of crap. Some of them are catchy but that's only 2 cover up the unimaginative lyrics that mean nothing. If u are livin' for that kinda stuff, u aren't asking 4 much out of the people u listen 2. Which is fine with those artists, cuz not only do they not display any real passion for Hip-Hop as music or a culture...but they just aren't smart.
  6. Yeah, the song is FP as his musical glossyest. The heavily sampled funky track, with Jazzy scratching, Kool Moe Dee on the hook...and Dru Hill bringing that B-more flava...it is just a crazy mix. And the video is amazing. It waz definitly on the MJ level of music video making. While we are on the topic...the soundtrack is really good 2. Sure, most of the songs come across as songs that got rejected from those artists' current albums, but the line up waz great. It waz even the comeback of Guy. And let me take a long shot in the dark and say that i actually like the movie. I'm gonna have 2 watch it soon.
  7. Yeah, he usually brings it up when people mention how long his's been rappin.' He jokes about how he's now a parent. I'm sure the next JJ+FP album will feature the new single "Grandparents Just Don't Understand."
  8. TEVIN CAMPBELL - Little Brother T.E.V.I.N. (1991)
  9. Okay, if there's any truth 2 that, it looks like the whole G-Unit involvement isn't gonna be that serious. After all, Puffy waz the exec. producer 2 Cassie's album...but Puffy and the Bad Boy in house producers have NOTHING 2 do with the album. None of those wack Bad Boy artists appeared on the album either. If this album is really happening, it isn't gonna be as bad as some of us thought.
  10. Everyone knows Jay-Z isn't one of my favs. But i heard 2 new songs on a Hip-Hop mix playing on the radio late this evening. I actually thought 2 of the songs weren't 2 bad....however, the songs just seemed common....borning decade old lyrics and C level production. They were better than most of his other singles released since 98ish.
  11. Well, since the single version waz intended for promotion...not 2 make money off of it, i think there waz some kinda legal loop hole. That's why the album version had 2 be edited. FP could have probably have gotten away with the original version of "...Jiggy..." but just desided 2 just make them the same version...besides, the DJ EZ Rock + Rob Base samples were taken out 2.
  12. Yeah, i'm thinkin' about gettin' another w/ this sale price. People...don't sleep!
  13. Yeah, i guess he had sample clearing problems...just like "Will2K."
  14. Yeah, that soundtrack is dope....B.M.U., LL, Jamica, Whiteside Bros., Ahmad... I'm about 2 go upstairs and pop in the Levert album "For Real Tho'"...i that's my fav album by them.
  15. It's just after 1 in the morning here. I just got home after a looooong day at work and tuned on BET. After Dark (the late nite slow jam music video show) just came on and when the flashed the logo it had the message "A Salute to Gerald Levert, a friend who will be missed." I dropped my jaw in confusion. I really can't grab a hold 2 this. Back in the late 80's, i listened 2 Levert and followed Gerald thru' his entire solo career (I have all his albums). He truely is one of the greatest singer, songwriters, and producers in R-N-B ever. While i'm watching this After Dark special (and being reminded just how brilliant Gerald was, i just realized that Jada plays a character in one of his videos...the girl stay in an abusive relationship (until the end of it). My thoughts and prayers go out 2 his family. Respect...and Rest In Peace.
  16. I don't know why Kanye gets the respect he does. He is a good producers. His rhymes skillz are weak and most of his rhymes are lackluster. That being said, he is definitly a step up from the 50 Cent/Ja-Rule/Young Joc type crap. So maybe that's it. Maybe it's just a front he puts on...but he comes across as an ignorant self-indulged fool with a misconception of his skill on the mic. Whether that's how he really is, who knows. Fresh Prince and Kanye West and way 2 different 2 compare if u ask me. Like most legends, FP's old school roots and refusal 2 lower himself 2 the standards of 2day's foolish radio-staple rappers has kept him from breaking out with a monster of an album when it comes 2 mainstream success. Lyric for lyric, does Kanye have any leverage against FP...heck 2 the nizzo!!
  17. YOUNG MC - Y'all Don't Hear Me Doe Ain't Goin' Out Like That (2000)
  18. I think Flav's album is good. I mean, it's Flavor Flav...so nobody is expecting Rakim or KRS-One type stuff...but they are expecting a good time. By the 3rd listen, the songs that he sings on didn't even seem weird 2 me. I don't know, i like the album...that's all that matters 2 me. Either way, when u hold Flavor Flav up 2 fools like Young Joc, who are selling millions, Flavor Flav easily makes better music. With a proper video and promotion, i think the album would be huge...people who know nothing about Hip-Hop love Flavor Flav. I still can't believe CL Smooth and Ice-T didn't do better that 1st week. Who knows, things could turn around. Of course they won't play them on the radio, they wanna keep that new Jay-Z crap in heavy rotation. I didn't even know Channel Live waz still recording.
  19. DIANA KING - Tick Boom Respect (2002) This album waz never released in the US but i finally found it at a decent price. The hook actually has her borrowing from JJ+FP's "Boom! Shake The Room" with the "tick...tick...tick...BOOM!" Yo Fuq, that's my joint!! I might have 2 pop that in next.
  20. Ha ha...that waz pretty funny...even tho' it's painful 2 see legends falling victim 2 lackluster sales.
  21. I can't front, i like Britney. I threw her in a category with all the uninteresting pop artists back in the late 90's when she 1st came out. My girlfriend at the time (in 1999) liked her so i took her 2 see her in concert as a surprise(yes, she doe actually sing live in concert). I actually liked her show and started liking her. I actually really liked her In The Zone album. But when she started dating the dirtbag K-Fed, i lost alot of respect 4 her and become uninterested. She just like his greasyness rub off on her. But with how she's straightened her life out, cleaned herself up, got back in shape, i'm actually interested in her next album. K-Fed is just the biggest joke ever. How do u become a Justin Timberlake/LFO back up dancer 2 getting with Shar Jackson, having 2 kids, then leaving her cuz for some reason Britney Spears shows interset in u. He's America's biggest joke. When i saw him perform live on TV 4 the 1st time, i couldn't belive it waz that bad. I mean, i knew he wouldn't be any good, but it waz even worse than i thought. It's pretty bad when your wife doesn't even want u have custody of your kids...ha ha. I wish the best 4 all of them...it's gotta suck 4 everyone involved.
  22. I don't think "jealous" waz the word 2 use in the title of this post. FP and Ice-T are good friends...it would be silly 2 put them against each other. I don't think Ice-T should really expect 2 have the same kinda success tho.' His and FP's careers are very different. FP started off with the straight East Coast Hip-Hop laced with comedy which made him accessable 2 a mainstream audience. His clean cut image and more accept subject matter helped his fame and success move him 2 the next level. Ice-T came out with the gang-heavy West Coast hardcore Hip-Hop sound filled with cussing and gritty street stories. U can't navigate the same kinda career as someone totally different. I think Ice-T is a great talent and one of the smartest emcees ever...but he hasn't always made the best choices and alot of his original fans have sold him out.
  23. For those that care, here's a bunch of articles that came out in the last day or so. ---------- K-Fed Slapped With Sample Suit Posted Nov 7th 2006 3:05PM by Jeff Davidson It's a good thing Kevin Federline has been earning some money lately. He was hit earlier this year with a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by Thomas Dolby. For the younger set, you'll remember Dolby from his smash hit, "She Blinded Me With Science," which was recently named by VH1 as one of the top songs of the 80s. Apparently, K-Fed liked the song enough to sample it in his "America's Most Wanted" tune which he streamed on his MySpace page. The song was reportedly downloaded over half a million times. Dolby checked out the MySpace page to listen to the tune. He didn't like what he heard, from both a legal and artistic standpoint. Once he confirmed that he had not licensed the sample to anyone connected with Federline, Dolby wanted to put an immediate stop to the sampling. However, he says he had a lot of trouble actually locating him, even when going through Britney's agent. Perhaps K-Fed was away on one of his club tours? Speaking with Thomas today, he tells TMZ that, at first, he didn't even know who Federline was; a fan posted something on Dolby's website forum alerting him to K-Fed's sample. Dolby says he even tried to post a "cease and desist" letter on Federline's MySpace page and that he was blocked by a filter ... suspecting that "words over one syllable" were not allowed on K-Fed's page. Finally, K-Fed made an undisclosed cash payment to Dolby for stealing borrowing part of his song. Now that the lawsuit is resolved, Dolby is readying himself to hit the road for the first time in years. He releases a live CD and DVD "The Sole Inhabitant" on November 21 and on November 28 hits the road for a four-week North American tour with fellow Electronica pioneer BT. Meanwhile, K-Fed isn't just getting slammed with lawsuits. He again appeared on WWE's "Monday Night Raw" last night and challenged champion Jon Cena to a match in Miami on New Year's Day 2007. Cena happily accepted. You'd think Kevin learned his lesson last time he was embarrassed on national TV. Maybe K-Fed needs the wrestling gig money to make up for all money being lost on poor concert ticket sales? And to pay up on lawsuits. K-Fed Up? -- "Rapper" Boo'd on Halloween Posted Nov 1st 2006 12:08PM by TMZ Staff Kevin Federline calls himself "America's Most Hated" and last night he proved it, as his Halloween performance was met with a chorus of boos -- and not of the ghostly variety. Before the first beat dropped from his new song "Privilege," Federleezy was bombarded with jeers from the costume-clad crowd at the West Hollywood Halloween Carnival. To his credit, the ratio of haters-to-fans hovered somewhere around 50-50, with at least half the crowd actually screaming in anticipation of K-Fed's performance. Though rumors (and high hopes) floated through the crowd that his wife, Britney Spears, would make a surprise appearance, everyone seemed let down when Federline sang his one song and quickly bolted to his album release party in a white Rolls Royce Phantom. Britney Spears Files for Divorce Posted Nov 7th 2006 3:47PM by TMZ Staff Britney Spears has filed a petition for divorce from Kevin Federline. TMZ obtained the legal papers, filed today in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing "irreconcilable differences." In her petition, Spears asks for both legal and physical custody of the couple's two children, one-year old Sean Preston and two-month old Jayden James, with Federline getting reasonable visitation rights. As for money, sources tell TMZ the couple, who married in Oct. 2004, has an iron-clad prenup. Not surprisingly, Spears is waiving her right to spousal support. She's also asking the judge to make each party pay their own attorney's fees. Spears gives the date of separation as yesterday, the same day she flaunted her incredible revamped physique during a surprise appearance on David Letterman's show. Sources tell TMZ there was no single reason for Britney pulling the plug, rather, it was "a string of events." Spears has hired powerhouse celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has repped a number of celebs, including Angelina Jolie, Nick Lachey and Kiefer Sutherland. We're told Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe asked Wasser to rep both of them in their split, but Wasser declined for personal reasons. Significantly, Britney lists the date of her marriage as October 6, 2004. There was an uproar around the time of the wedding because the highly publicized "secret" ceremony was held on Sept. 18th, leading many to question the validity of the ceremony. Now the divorce documents indicate that the lavish ceremony was not the official wedding. Divorce Docs Prove Britney Faked Her "Wedding" Posted Nov 7th 2006 3:40PM by TMZ Staff In the wake of Britney Spear's bombshell split from Kevin Federline, the pop princess has revealed a major secret about her highly publicized and widely photographed wedding -- it was a fraud! Spears and Federline celebrated what many thought was their wedding day on Sept. 18th, 2004 at the Studio City home of wedding planner Alyson Fox. Roughly 25 close friends and family members reportedly attended, including Spears' mother and sister. However, according to the divorce papers filed by Spears, her marraige to K-Fed didn't occur until Oct 6th -- nearly three weeks after the "secret" nuptials went down. Us Weekly obtained what they claimed were authentic legal documents signed by Spears and Federline and their attorneys. The documents, published on thesmokinggun.com state that the event that happened on Sept. 18 was a "faux ceremony," and also state that the pop duet had to work out a prenup before tying the knot for real. Britney's rep fired back at the reports, telling Us Weekly at the time, "This is all ludicrous. They are happily married, and I have no reason to believe otherwise." Yeah, right. Now, with the official date on the record books, we know that they got hitched after the blitz. With Brit reportedly worth $32 million at the time of the wedding, the former Mouseketeer was smart to ink a deal before signing her marriage license! Britney Ices K-Fed Posted Nov 7th 2006 9:01PM by TMZ Staff Newly single and icy cool, Britney Spears took to the world famous ice skating rink at Rockefeller Center in New York tonight, in a post-filing-of-papers celebratory skate. With K-Fed in the deep freeze, she has reason to celebrate. Brit's manager Larry Rudolph helped the blonde pop tart stay upright, while hordes of amazed tourists took pictures and watched the teen idol skate. Once Britney got her balance, she was twirling and putting on quite a show -- just two hours after news of her split was scooped by TMZ. Just before skating, she did some damage at a local Gap store to pick up an outfit for the rink. She looked fine in her slick black pants, plunging neckline and white hat (the good guys always wear a white hat). She had been seen earlier leaving her hotel, and dining at Italian bistro Baldoria, protected by dark glasses and a large bodyguard. Britney/K-Fed Divorce -- Nasty Turn Posted Nov 8th 2006 12:15AM by TMZ Staff TMZ has learned Kevin Federline may fight Britney Spears for custody of his children. Federline has not had much time to react to Spears' decision to end the marriage, and that's because she didn't tell him in advance that she was filing for divorce. Federline was caught flatfooted when TMZ broke the story Tuesday that Britney filed legal papers in L.A. County Superior Court. Spears has asked for sole custody of the couple's two small children. TMZ is told Federline is thinking of challenging that, even though Spears has functioned as the primary, if not sole parent, as Federline tours the country hawking his CD. Federline almost certainly cannot challenge the prenup. Sources say hotshot divorce lawyer Laura Wasser drafted an air-tight prenuptial agreement before the couple married. So Federline's only chance of cashing in is by mounting an ugly custody fight, trying to force a more lucrative settlement. But friends of Spears say Britney will fight a holy war to prevent Federline from getting custody and, given his track record -- or lack of it -- with the kids, it would appear Spears has the clear advantage.
  24. Those 2 light weights recording an album 2gether just cuz they are beefing with another light weight makes them both look weak. I perfer music for adults.
