Will's Premiere record has been broken
JumpinJack AJ replied to Jazzy Julie's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Even if that waz a real record...those guys aren't overly successful staples in the movie industry. Who cares. If FP actually wants that record again, he could easily get it back. -
wikipedia dissing jazzyjefffreshprince.com
JumpinJack AJ replied to bea321's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
This would be the site. The official one is held back by it's officialness. There are alot of fly-by-nite fan sites that were put 2gether by fans who haven't stayed down 4 the long haul. There are a few other good sites out there...and they are all put 2gether by members of this website. So yeah, when it comes 2 news and info, this is the mainsite 2 go 2...after all, JJ+FP themselves have checked out the site. On top of that, most of the people on this board have brain...something u won't really find on other Will Smith and JJ+FP sites. -

Jay-Z Responds To LL Cool J's Comments On Poor Promotion
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
Jay-Z is a fool if he's gonna defend his promotion skillz with Def Jam. 2 videos isn't impressive at all. Way back in 1989, LL recorded 2 videos 2gether for Mama Said Knock You Out and that waz over a decade ago. Jay-Z can successfully run his own label...but not Def Jam. Def Jam is supposed 2 be the premier Hip-Hop label. He's done good things with Ne-Yo and Rihanna by spotting real talent, having them work with really talented producers, proper promotion, and gaining lots of success. Where's the real Hip-Hop?!? It's not there and most of the real emcees on the label aren't happy with how things are. Read the interviews. Todd Smith isn't LL's best album but it's still a good album and easily better than nearly every Hip-Hop album that has hit the top 10 for more that one week on the Billboard charts. LL openly confessed that he knows his sales will slide a bit since he isn't cussing and how he openly gives praise 2 God. But his latest album should be doing much more than what it is. As an artist who has been around since the mid-80's in an ever changing music genre, u are bound 2 have an album here and there that sells weaker than other. Just like b4, he'll comeback big again. However, after hearing "Bump This," i don't think it'll be with the Todd Smith 2 album if it actually comes out. I think it's kinda weak that LL is collaborateing with that G-Unit vermon...AND letting them cuss in his music. Hey Jay-Z...Method Man dropped a new album...so did The Roots...where is the radio airplay and videos? Let's be real, once Russel Simmons left, Def Jam ended. When i think of Def Jam, i think of LL Cool J, Slick Rick, Public Enemy, Redman, Method Man, Onyx, Def Squad, DMX and the DefSoul artists. -
Nas Previews Hip-Hop Is Dead... The N
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
Ever since the mid-90's...big sales have leaned more and more in favor or wack artists. It's taken over a decade for the mainstream face of Hip-Hop/Rap 2 shift of legit multiflava'd Hip-Hop to be replaced by poorly processed commercial garbage. Many of us have been sick of it all along. It seems nearly irreversable at this point but i'm still crossing my fingers. I mean, how long can the recent chart toppers really keep fans musically and intellectually interested in them?!? -

Very cool...i hope this brings lots of money in for the cause. -
The UK version doesn't have "Chosen One" tho.' I got my Japan version for about $30...which isn't bad at all. That's just about right 4 a release from Japan.

Slick Rick "Can I Live?", New XXL Interview
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
Thanx 4 this. It's depressing 2 hear talented old school artists loosing the fire becuz of what commercial rap fans are settling 4. With that attitude, the real artists will never overcome the kiddie crappy music. -
Will.I.Am Hit's The Studio With Michael Jackson
JumpinJack AJ replied to Turntable's topic in Caught in the Middle
Interesting read. Good 2 see that he's on his way back 2 where he needs 2 be. -
The fact that the "article" is dated in August makes it pretty phoney 2. If it were true, he would have owned up 2 it now and it would have gotten more attention then Lance from NSYNC coming out.

Getting your hands on the Japan release of Lost + Found will get u all 3.

Every solo male R-N-B artist is said to be gay at some time...MJ, Usher, now Ne-Yo. I won't really buy in2 this until i see the actual article from a legit source. I waz thinkin' the same thing Fuq waz...why would he have had a kid awhile ago if he waz gay an in a relationship. I know there are a few entertainers who have done that 2 keep their private lives secret, but Ne-Yo wazn't always aiming 2 be a solo artist...just a writer and producer. I have no problem if he actually is gay, that doesn't make him less talented. However, since a big part of me likes the artists i like becuz i can identify with them and their lyrics would definitly take a hit if he would be singing about guys...ha ha.

Snoop Dogg Caught With Weapon at Airport AP IRVINE, Calif. (Oct. 23) - Prosecutors are considering charges against Snoop Dogg after authorities discovered a 21-inch collapsible baton in his bags as he boarded a New York-bound flight, authorities said Monday. The rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, had the baton in his laptop case as he went through a security checkpoint at John Wayne International Airport on Sept. 27, sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said. Snoop Dogg, 35, told sheriff's deputies that the baton was a prop for a movie he was filming in New York, Amormino said. "He had a collapsible baton and it is classified as a dangerous weapon," Amormino said, adding that the stick collapsed to eight inches. District attorney spokeswoman Susan Kang Schroeder said her office received the sheriff's report on Monday. She said prosecutors had not yet decided whether to charge Snoop Dogg, who was not arrested. It wasn't the first time the rapper has had a problem at an airport. In May, he accepted responsibility for using "threatening words or behavior" in an April brawl at Heathrow Airport in London. Snoop Dogg and five other men were arrested on charges of violent disorder and starting a brawl after some members of the rapper's party were denied entry to British Airways' first-class lounge. Seven officers received minor injuries - mainly cuts and bruises - and one suffered a fracture to the hand. British Airways has banned Snoop Dogg from future travel on the airline, it said last month. Snoop Dogg was convicted in 1990 of cocaine possession and was charged with gun possession after a 1993 traffic stop. Facing a possible three years in prison, he pleaded guilty in exchange for three years' probation and his promise to make anti-violence public service announcements. He also was acquitted of murder in 1996 following the death of an alleged street gang member killed by gunfire from the vehicle Snoop Dogg was traveling in. Snoop Dogg's 1993 album "Doggystyle" sold 5 million copies. NYC Judge Rules in Favor of Busta Rhymes By PAT MILTON, AP NEW YORK (Oct. 24) - A judge ruled Tuesday that prosecutors could not charge Busta Rhymes with possession of a weapon - a machete found inside a sport utility vehicle - following his Aug. 12 arrest on an assault charge. Rhymes, 34, appeared at the brief hearing before Criminal Court Judge Shawndya Simpson. The judge rejected a prosecution request for the additional charge against the rapper. According to prosecutor Harrison Scheiloch, a machete was found in the rear seat pocket of an SUV in which Rhymes was a passenger when he was arrested following a performance at the AmsterJam Music Festival on Randall's Island. Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor Smith, was charged with assault after he allegedly attacked a man for spitting on his car. He is due back in court Dec. 11. The rapper, who wore two large diamond stud earrings, a gem-encrusted watch and a diamond pinkie ring, said nothing during the hearing. But he took a minute to tell the courtroom sketch artists, "I love it when you make me look good." He left the courthouse in a crush of photographers, camera crews and reporters, climbing into a black SUV. Rhymes' hits include "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See" "Dangerous" and "Touch It." He has also appeared in films, including 2000's "Shaft" and "Finding Forrester." Mario Grows Up, Shuns Beef With Ne-Yo Posted Oct 24th 2006 4:26PM by Donya Blaze Filed under: Soul/R&B A very excited Mario stopped by AOL Music's New York studios recently to play tracks from his upcoming third album. We're talking sheer leaping-out-of-his-chair-and-exclaiming-'That's the sh*t!'-when-his-favorite-cut-comes-on excited. He also didn't hold back when asked about the breakout success of another singer. "I respect Ne-Yo," Mario said of his collaborator on 'Let Me Love You.' "I think he's very talented, but you gotta have your own swagger. "Everywhere I see him, he's saying he wished he kept the song for himself. But it wouldn't have been the same. The passion I have for it would be totally different from [his]. He portrayed it as if [the song] didn't belong to me, as if I didn't do that joint. Sometimes you gotta let go and let the past be the past, bro." Yet Mario insisted there's no beef between the two, noting that they worked together again on the song 'If.' The 20- year-old is now focused on making his own household name: "On this album, I'm introducing my full name, Mario Barrett, to add a whole 'nother vibe to where I'm going. I want my fans to feel more personal with me, because we've grown together."

I didn't expect 2 really like the album and didn't even check 4 it. But when i heard it, i liked it. It's not one of my top favs, but i definitly liked it enuff 2 go out and get it. I haven't listened 2 it very often, but when it comes 2 Hip-Hop and Rap albums coming out regularly, it's definitly way above average when it comes 2 skills and quality. I like 2 or 3 Linkin Park songs, but their music doesn't intrest me.

Thanx 4 posting this, i'll read it 2nite. I can say that i love his show Rap School...which i didn't think i would. He also served as a proper host for the VH-1 Hip-Hop Honors and i can't wait 2 hear the new album. It's good 2 see him closer 2 home than he has been in the past decade.
-
The rest of her album is definitly done in the tradition of her past ones. But she's evolved with every album...so i can't really say it's like one of her pasts...but like i said, it's done in the tradition of her others...quality R-N-B right down the middle. Monica has always had an edge 2 her and that edge is still there. It's much more real than when u catch some female singers like Ashanti who do well with the sugar sweet R-N-B, but comes off as a joke when they try 2 get gutter.
-
Same here...that song still gets big radio airplay.
-
I really wanna hear it, but i've slept on it so far.
-
Yeah, her new album is dope. It a very solid and timeless R-N-B album. I think "Everytime The Beat Drop" (the 1st single) is the only weak song on it. I defintly urge R-N-B fans 2 pick this up...especially if u like any of her past work.

Jermaine Dupri Leaves Virgin Records
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
I liked The Velvet Rope...but i thought it's direction waz choppy. It definitly had heavier subject matter. I think an album in that direction would be a good start. -
Jermaine Dupri Leaves Virgin Records
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
Yeah, Justin gets way 2 much play. I like him...but "Sexyback" is wack...and the song is still in heavy rotation...like after 3 or 4 months. I think All For You and Damito Jo were much better than 20 Y.O. I just think the sound waz much richer and the lyrics stood out 2 me much more. I've been thinkin' Jimmy Jam + Terry Lewis have gotten kinda soft on their sound. Some people wanna blame Jermaine Dupri for the weaker sound of the album, but i can't see him giving Usher and Mariah Carey the flawless production he has and not even the same or better to his own girlfriend. I just think it waz time for another album like janet. I think JD needs 2 stop having So So Def as in imprint with a distribution deal and make it a label all itself. -
Jermaine Dupri Leaves Virgin Records
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
I could see this happening. JD just isn't the big label type...unless it's a Hip-Hop label. Janet's new album is average. And it's easily her weakest album. The label's promotion isn't very good...and i feel Janet did her part. I think she needs 2 regroup and come back after a break with a thicker sound. Her sound is just 2 sweet and light. If that's in her heart, fine, but i think she's stuck in the same place that she has been for past 5 years. She's also been living really good for awhile so maybe she's lacking fire and inspiration behind these newer songs. There's definitly some edge missing from 20 Y.O. -
I wish this were true...but i can't see him stopping recording 4 no reason. It would be a dream come true. Wack title tho.' It looks like he actually has a good line up of producers...2 bad that won't mask trash lyrics and wack flow.
