ARE MUSIC EXCLUSIVES GETTING OUTTA CONTROL?
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Caught in the Middle
Yeah, but i'm just imaging buying 20 different version of FP's next album just 2 get all the bonus material...ha ha. I just think it's getting outta hand. -
Everyone on this board loves music. We've all come here cuz we have love for JJ+FP. And we are from all over the world, different ages, different races, from different lifestyles with different tastes in music. Everyone knows i love music. Hip-Hop is my favorite genre partly cuz i grew up feeling that it waz my music and partly cuz it represents alot my ideas and comes from a place i come from. R-N-B is my 2nd fav kinda music, and also got love for reggae, club music, jazz, pop, and acoustic. Most people know i have thousands of CDs (some legendary...some not 2 legendary) and i definitly love remixes and b-sides. Well, these days, many stores hook up with record labels 2 get an exclusive version of an album 2 get the loyal fans 2 shop their way...even when their price isn't the best. That idea makes sense...but it's been getting pretty crazy this year. Early in the summer, India.Arie dropped her new album. India.Arie is an amazing artist. I picked up her album at Target because it came with a bonus track and a CD with the making of her "I Am Not My Hair" video. Then i was shopping at Circuit City and looked at the album because they had an "exclusive" sticker on it. CC's version had ANOTHER bonus track. Since i fell in love with the album the way i did, i figured it would be well worth getting this version 2...so i did...ha ha. Then i waz in Wal-Mart and saw their version came with a BET Official DVD that waz an hour long, loaded with interviews, live performances, and music videos. And yeah, i got that 2. However, after busting Wal-Mart's CD/DVD combo open, i kept the CD sealed and returned it for the money...keeping the DVD...ha ha (i know, i'm sooo wrong). Anyways, Jessica Simpson dropped her album last week and CC had a bonus track. Then i saw Best Buy had a bonus DVD, then i saw K-Mart had a JS magnet, and Wal-Mart had ANOTHER bonus track. Beyonce's album at CC has a bonus track and Wal-Mart has an hour long BET Official DVD. Instead of stores trying 2 one-up the others 2 get more sales, it looks like the record companies are now pimpin' the fans by trying 2 make the loyal fans buy 2, 3, and 4 copies of their artists albums. And since sales prices the 1st week they come out are usually the best, the crazy fans are gonna get them all the 1st week the album comes out. I don't know...i haven't noticed anyone on this board going after all the bonus stuff like i do for certain artists. But i wanted 2 know if anyone else finds themselves struggling 2 deside where 2 get and album and if record companies are starting 2 take advantage of the loyal fans who go out buying albums and not downloading stuff.

NICK LACHEY + JESSICA SIMPSON SETTLE MONEY DISPUTE
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Caught in the Middle
If it wasn't for the huge success that Nick his having with his album, he might have fought 4 the money just 2 get by. But i think Nick knows money isn't everything. I've been in a situation where i settled for less than what i deserve simply becuz the negativity and drama wazn't worth it. In life, there are battles worth fighting and there are battles NOT worth fighting. I think that was his attitude towards the whole thing. -
I may be the only person on this board who actually like both Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, but incase i'm not, here's an article i came about. Those who like Hollywood gossip will be interested. All i can say is that Nick is a class act. ---------------------------- Jessica and Nick Settle Money Dispute Posted Sep 5th 2006 4:55PM by Harvey Levin TMZ has learned that Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey have divided up the assets in their marriage, and Nick agreed to less than his share in order to avoid an ugly court fight. The couple amassed a fortune during their three-year marriage, in no small part because of their MTV reality show "Newlyweds" and the avalanche of endorsements and other deals that followed. Jessica refused to sign a prenuptial agreement, so under California law the assets -- estimated at $36 million -- are to be divided equally. So Jessica and Nick should each get $18. Nick will take significantly more than the $1.5 million, but considerably less than 50% As TMZ first reported, Jessica (we're told at the behest of her dad, Joe Simpson) offered Nick a relatively measly $1.5 million to walk away from the marriage. Sources say Joe Simpson believed Nick didn't have the stomach to put up a fight over money. Nevertheless, Nick rejected the offer and the former sweethearts decided to make their divorce final and try to hammer out a property settlement. Sources say in the property settlement -- which has not yet been filed in court -- Nick will take significantly more than the $1.5 million, but considerably less than 50% of what he and Jessica earned during the marriage. Two sources in Nick's camp made it clear to TMZ that Lachey agreed to end the dispute because he does not want to hurt anyone in a contentious court battle. Ironically last week, a reporter on a red carpet relayed a message from Joe and Jessica Simpson to Nick: "They love you. You're still part of the family." Nick blanched and said "Well, good, that's nice to hear...." The reporter persisted "...Jessica will always love you." Nick's classic reply: "Okay, then!"

REVIEW JJ+FP ALBUMS ON EBAY/HALF.COM
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Yeah, ebay rule number 1...never tell people who might be interested in the same item that u see it there. That will only make more of a buzz...and a higher price. -
DJ JAZZY JEFF - Know Ur Hood The Magnificent (2002)
-
Damian, i'm pretty sure it's not released. I think it's safe to say they only released that crappy Bad Boys 2 soundtrack with all the commercial rap songs and not a version with the cinematic music...which wazn't even in the 2nd movie like it waz in the 1st. Who know tho'...maybe after some digging i could find it. I'll let u know.

Before The Willennium....cuz it's freakin' ill, yo! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!

Ebay/Half.com recently added a feature where u can review and rate music movies, etc. Ebay is more powerful than Amazon and all those other music/movie distributers online. I think it would be nice if we ALL go there and support their music since not alot is going on at the moment. Even if u aren't feeling an album or single, u should give it a 5 to balance it out when haters start going up in there ripping music apart. When u go 2 ebay.com, scroll down a bit and u'll see a Reviews + Guides or something like that on the left side of the screen. Click on it, log in, and go from there. Just a hint, when u search for JJ+FP, don't put in "jazzy jeff fresh prince" cuz their name is so long that the "e" gets cut off and u won't find all their albums...ha ha.

This should come as no surprise....but Puffy's Bad Boys II soundtrack only has commercial trax (most of them not in the movie). The theme isn't on it. If u remember, the guy who did the music for Bad Boys waz on board for Bad Boys II, but he backed out in the middle of it and Dr. Dre took over. That's one thing that killed me. I think the music in the movie should have been done differently. Dr. Dre kept throwing in that beat he did in 1999 for Chronic 2001. Yeah, the beat waz dope, but why did he use it like 3 times in a movie coming out in 2003?!?

THANX!! A new album is long overdue. I can't wait 4 it 2 drop. Hip-Hop has needed something big like a Rakim album for awhile.
-
I've looked at the album but i haven't gotten it yet. I think i'll listen 2 it in a record store 2day. I'll definitly get it...it's a matter of how much i like it if i pick it up 2day or later. I think he's talented. I just did really catch the buzz when i saw him live 2 years ago.
-
I didn't know this album waz a double album. But i know it's been in the works for awhile now. I can't wait 2 get it. With their 1st album 2gether in mind, i want solo albums from both of them after this 2nd duet album.

It waz summer '96, i waz 16, and i remember seeing the video 4 the 1st time late at night when VH-1 had a show called Soul of VH-1. I fell in love with that song from the 1st listen. It's just so smooth. The production, lyrics, and vocals is stuff that classics are made of.

In Ohio, you're innocent till accused guilty
JumpinJack AJ replied to Schnazz's topic in Caught in the Middle
I don't know...we all know that there is a loop hole in every legal system. There's lot of people who are over penalized 4 crimes, people let off for things simply cuz someone didn't make a court date and so on. I don't think it's right...but i don't think it's wrong. If i had a family, i'd wanna if some psyco idiot like the guy who claimed 2 kill JonBenet waz living in my neighborhood...whether they found guilty or not guilty. I don't think the info should be just put out there...but i think it should be at easy access for those who want it. -
The Jackass crew will always have a following...2gether or apart. They are hilarious. They are living the dream of young crazy people everywhere.
-
For those of u not familiar with the track. Slum Village's debut album Fantastic: Vol. 2 has a track called "I Don't Know" that features DJ Jazzy Jeff scratching all over it. It's a bouncy Hip-Hop track that waz actually a single. If u've never checked it out...do yourself and check the song out...and Slum Village 4 that matter. Anyways, after seeing unathorized copies of their unreleased album, Fantastic: Vol. 1. They released a semi-official version of the album this year right after Jay Dee aka J-Dilla passed away. I scooped it up with the quickness and waz actually kinda disappointed when i heard the original version of "I Don't Know" which doesn't have Jazzy on it. After 7 years of thinking Jeff masterminded those James Brown samples in2 the song, i waz actually upset 2 find out the samples were already there and that literally, Jeff did waz scratch over the track and that it waz remastered 4 the actual release. Oh well, a dope collabo none the less.
-
I guess with times changing and his plans changing, he just made a transition. ATOJ had been kinda quite the past year or 2. Even when ATOJ producers did trax 4 other people, they didn't always have the ATOJ name attatched 2 them.

WHAT WOULD YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT?
JumpinJack AJ replied to mixmastermegan7's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I wouldn't mind hearing them do a track since Lupe seems 2 have a real quality album on the way (at least his 1st single and the mixtape seem 2 make me believe that). But at the same time, i don't see why they would. There's no real reason or connection between them. -
Here's some random (and kinda funny) newz from AOL... ------------------------------------------------------------------ Snoop Dogg Puts 'Em In, 'Coach' Snoop Dogg is turning family man. The rapper -- known more for his gangsta image than Papa Snoop -- is working on a film that will chronicle his real-life accounts as a coach for his son's youth football team, appropriately dubbed 'Coach Snoop.' The MC told MTV that it won't be documentary, but rather a "real movie" helmed with the help of 'Friday' writer DJ Pooh. "It's going to be a great, fun movie that you can take your whole family to see," Snoop said. "We're in the second stage of the writing part." Meanwhile, Snoop releases his latest album, 'Blue Carpet Treatment' -- featuring such VIP guests as The Game, Timbaland, Brandy, Pharrell and Stevie Wonder -- on Nov. 21. ------------------------------- Elton John Wants to Make Hip-Hop Album Elton John is no stranger to hip-hop. He performed wack rapper #2's 'Stan' with the rapper on stage at the 2001 Grammys. LOS ANGELES (Aug. 25) - Goodbye yellow brick road, hello hip hop. Elton John tells Rolling Stone magazine that he wants to record a hip-hop album with Grammy-winning producer Dr. Dre. "I want to work with Pharrell , Timbaland, Snoop, Kanye, wack rapper #2 and just see what happens," John says in the Sept. 7 issue. "It may be a disaster, it could be fantastic, but you don't know until you try." The 59-year-old says he is a fan of Blackstreet's "No Diggity" and Tupac Shakur's "California Love." "I want to bring my songs and melodies to hip-hop beats," John says. "I love these beats, but I have no idea how to get them." John performed wack rapper #2 's song "Stan" with the rapper during the 2001 Grammy awards. John's new album, "The Captain and the Kid," is due in September.

Anything that talks about being "gangsta" is just a joke 2 me. Like KRS-One said back in '93 on The Arsenio Hall Show..."Real gangsters don't rap."

"Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin Passes away...
JumpinJack AJ replied to Vipa's topic in Caught in the Middle
Very sad. He waz one of the funniest people ever. I didn't even know about him until one of my ex-girlfriends turned me on to his show. He waz awesome at what he did and came off invincible with how he approached alot of the things he did on the show.
