Hey, when Cassidy came out, i like his joint "Hotel" with R. Kelly. I also like the single he dropped the following summer. That R-N-B joint that had female R-N-B singer on the hook. The beat waz straight Hip-Hop and it waz a love song. I know someone on this board is a Cassidy fan. I waz wondering if someone remembers that song/video and could tell me the title of the song. I'm assuming this song is on his 1st album.

Cop tries to get gangter rap banned from las vegas resorts
JumpinJack AJ replied to Jin's topic in Caught in the Middle
I think that Eminem's, G-Unit's, and all those other fake thugs need 2 have their music banned from certain events, work places, and stuff like that. Yes, i think their music sucks, but even beyond that. There are young kids and teens out there who can't think 4 themselves and they will allow phoney lyrics like that and take it 2 heart. It's true, i see the youth in my area who let music effect how they live their life. 2Pac made some music with stuff that kids don't need 2 hear, but much of the time, he was complaining about how things were...not glorifying them. And at the same time, he balanced it out with positive and sometimes even spiritual type of outlooks. 50 Cent doesn't do that. He just talks about drugs, killing, jewelry, and sex. There's 100 other cookie cutter rappers who do the same thing. They talk trash and they have no talent. Whatever happened 2 music with a message, and answer, and a positive outlook life? There is music that is much more suitable 4 people 2 hear. It's time 2 stop shutting it out and save the youth from the garbage. -

How many songs get cut from an Album
JumpinJack AJ replied to dkny2kx's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
No way...Ne-Yo's album is amazing. I love it. Usually the picky artists record tons of songs 4 the album...and usually it shows. U have a remember that alot of those song Ne-Yo did were probably his own version of the songs he gave 2 other people 2 record. Just like Michael Jackson. Songs like BLACKstreet's "Joy" were originally for MJ, but when they didn't make his album, BLACKstreet did it. It turned out 2 be a big hit 4 them. -
For real. DMX is the best when it comes gritty street Hip-Hop. I just wish his current stuff waz on the same level as his early stuff. The lyrics are the same, but the production has been slipping. And some of the trouble that DMX gets in amazes me. He comes off as a really good guy...smart, spiritual, etc. But he keeps making this mistakes. Back on topic...it's stupid 2 say that Rihanna's producers jacked the "Switch" beat. That sound appeared on other trax b4 "Switch" waz even written.
-
All i can say is ...."'bout tyme!"
-
The whole similarity in the beat is so stupid. Cuz even tho' DMX is targeting Rihanna for her 1st single 4 sounding like "Switch"...that "boom tap boom tap boom tap boom boom tap" style was used in countless danchall/R-N-B trax. It's all just silly 2 me. Rihanna's album is amazing. She's one of the true talents 2 come out in recent years. I guess it's good DMX mentioned FP tho'...in a non-negative way. Just 2 keep his name out there.

FP always jokes about the "weak stuff" he makes. While there are trax he don't feel are suitable 2 put out...i think we'd probably like pretty much every single one. His level of quality is so high that even the bad is probably good. It's easily better than the crap G-Unit, Eminem, Ja-Rule, and Lil' Jon see fitable 2 make their album's tracklistings. -

d/l: Mak - Chronic 2006 - 2Pac over Dr.Dre Beats
JumpinJack AJ replied to Snouf's topic in Caught in the Middle
2Pac didn't really hate Dr. Dre. After Suge waz mad that he bailed from Deathrow...Suge waz hating on him and 2Pac just played off it. Even tho' it didn't take long 4 2Pac 2 hate Deathrow, he loyally fulfilled his duty with them and if Suge felt offended that their only talented producer left them, some of that bitterness must have spilt in2 2pac. Dr. Dre did an interview in 2000 that read (in Blaze or XXL) and he said him and 2Pac weren't really close and that he waz just playing along with Suge. -
Biggie's "Ready To Die" To be Pulled off Shelves..
JumpinJack AJ replied to Vipa's topic in Caught in the Middle
I'm not a real Biggie fan, but this is just stupid. It's been 12 years and they are trippin' over an unlisted sample. Most of the people who own the album don't even know who the Ohio Players are. And the ones that do probably know where the sample is from. They just need 2 reprint the credits and let it be. The music business can be so stupid...especially the people filing rediculous lawsuits when out of court decisions can be made. -
I haven't seen it in stores. I'll get it no later than next week.

DMC - Checks, Thugs, + Rock-N-Roll
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Caught in the Middle
I'm glad other people are feeling the album. Since my taste seems 2 be different from alot of other peoples'...i feel like i may be misleading them when i say i really like and album and they'll pick it up and not like it..ha ha. -
Skee-Lo had a hit with "Top of The Stairs" also. But his other singles Superman, Bounce Back, and At The Mall didn't do well. Craig Mack had a hit with "Get Down" along with the remix of "Flava In Ya Ear." I can't remember the 1997 single, but he had a hit with that as weel. That remix he did in 2002 with some Bad Boy artist waz huge 2. Alot of people were waiting for his new album on Bad Boy, but he's disappeared again.

How many songs get cut from an Album
JumpinJack AJ replied to dkny2kx's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
It depends. With Rock The House and He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper...every song on it waz done for the album. Whereas with Lost + Found and Born To Reign, he did at least 40ish some trax 4 the album. Over the years, there have been some JJ+FP trax that didn't get released as well as trax with Warren G, Wyclef, Kwame, and Michael Jackson. It's doubtful that those songs will ever see the light of day. If FP's music career goes Big Willie Style again, u never know if they might one day do a box set or something. He's always writing and recording. It's in his blood. There's probably a huge library of stuff we'll never hear. There is also alternate versions of certains songs that we'll never hear. Since i don't keep in contact with one of my old sources, i might share a lil' bit of the stuff i was told very soon. -

I hate the term "one hit wonders"...cuz it's rarely true... EXAMPLE (this is singles the artists released and the ones that were hits, at least in the US are in CAPS) Kris Kross - JUMP, WARM IT UP, I MISSED THE BUS, Shame, The Way of Rhyme, AIGHT, I'm Real, Da Bomb, TONIGHTS THE NITE, LIVE AND DIE FOR HIP-HOP MC HAMMER - LET'S GET IT STARTED, TURN THE MUTHA OUT, THEY PUT ME IN THE MIX, U CAN'T TOUCH THIS, PRAY, HERE COMES THE HAMMER, HAVE U SEEN HER, Dancin' Machine, Help The Children, 2 LEGIT 2 QUIT, THE ADDAM'S GROOVE, THIS IS THE WAY WE ROLL, DON'T PASS ME BY, Good To Go, Gaining Momentum, IT'S ALL GOOD, PUMPS AND A BUMP, DON'T STOP, Sultry Funk, Keep On, Ain't No Stoppin' Us. YOUNG MC - BUST A MOVE, PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE, I COME OFF, THAT'S THE WAY LOVE GOES, What's Your Flavor?, ON + POPPIN' Of course Young MC's 1997 album waz called "Return of the One Hit Wonder." Ha ha. The Source hates Young MC, but love him.

I'm actually very scared about how this movie is gonna turn out. I grew up on Superman and still love comic books 2 this day. I don't like the slightly modefied costume, the dark red instead of the bright red, or the over all look of some of the casting/characters. I'll still be in line 2 see it the day it comes out and go in2 it with an open mind. I'm just scared.

I got this from AOL News. Just thought i'd share... ----------------------------------------------- 'Superman' Torch Is Passed Guy Scott Bowles, USA TODAY LOS ANGELES (March 16) — Midway through the filming of Superman Returns, star Brandon Routh received an envelope in the mail. It contained two pendants and a letter. The pendants, each emblazoned with a red S, said simply, "Go Forward." The note from Dana Reeve, the widow of Superman Christopher Reeve, said much the same thing. "She said she thought I'd be a good Superman," says Routh, 26, best known for a guest role on Gilmore Girls. "She wished me luck. I can't tell you what that was like to get her blessing. I was nervous, because I had never heard from the family, and it's frightening trying to fill Christopher Reeve's shoes." But Routh will attempt just that as Superman swoops into theaters June 30 with more than just a $180 million budget on its shoulders. The film, which is enjoying one of the most pronounced marketing campaigns at the ShoWest convention of theater owners in Las Vegas, carries the hope of a lucrative summer at the box office — and expectations that people will get excited about going to the movies again. For Routh and director Bryan Singer, there's also a personal stake in the film doing well. "From comic books to radio to TV to the movies, everyone knows this character," says Singer, who also is doing a documentary on the history of Superman. "And they have an idea of who he should be. Those can be big expectations." Routh realized just how awesome when he received the Superman tags from the Christopher Reeve Foundation, an organization that promotes research on paralysis. Christopher Reeve was paralyzed in a horseback-riding accident in 1995 and died in 2004. His widow, Dana, died of lung cancer last week. "I wrote her back but never got to speak with her," Routh says. "Still, it was such an honor. And it made me realize how important it is to respect not just the characters in this movie, but the people who were a part of it." Indeed, the new Superman abounds with legacies. Singer says he plans to use the late Marlon Brando in the new film. Brando, who played Superman's father, Jor-El, in the 1978 Superman and died in 2004, will return in the same role. Singer says he found stock footage of Brando shot by director Richard Donner in 1978, which will provide Brando's voice. Special-effects crews will digitally re-create Brando's image, Singer says. The new film will revisit the origins of the Man of Steel. Singer is well aware he's treading on hallowed ground. "This isn't just any comic book character. Superman is America. He's as iconic as it gets. That's a pretty awesome responsibility." 03-16-06 08:49 EST
