  1. Who cares about "Switch" anymore? If i waz someone visiting Hip-Hop, R-N-B, or MJB sites online and somebody posted something like "Check out this new Will Smith and Mary J. Blige video!!"...i would check it out. If someone said something about "Switch," i'd be like "isn't that song old? If i had a fast enough computer, i'd do this myself. But i guess i'm gonna have to count on someone else who agrees with me 2 put it together and than hope that y'all are ready 2 street team it. If someone dose put this performance online, don't forget to put the information like "Will Smith feat. Mary J. Blige - Tell Me Why - Off the Will Smith album Lost + Found." Putting a pic of the album cover at the end would be great...with the line "Also featuring "Party Starter" and the smash hit "Switch." "Guest appearances by Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Elephant Man, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Robin Thicke" would be a nice added touch.
  2. I can't believe this. Jay Dee waz seriously one of Hip-Hop producers ever. I got in 2 him in the mid-90's thru' A Tribe Called Quest. I can't believe he's just gone. His friends and family are in my prayers. Jeff waz good friends with him.
  3. Usually that's what i would say....BUT...here's my reasoning why 2 put it out there. *It isn't commerically released (just as a bonus w/ Hitch when it 1st dropped). U can't exactly just go out and buy this. Besides, the people who would be seeing it are people who probably wouldn't actually be checking 4 it. *There is no video or single for "Tell Me Why" or anything else on Lost + Found. This is the only way AND last chance 2 properly promote L+F by avoiding making low budget videos and stuff like that. L+F will be dead without putting this out. *It is one of the best songs he's EVER done. Why not use it 2 promote his album while it's current and new. After all, it waz supposed 2 be a single in the 1st place. *It has a message the world needs 2 hear. *FP has a passion 4 the song *Mary J. Blige's career is blazing. MJB fans would be checking it, supporting it, and promoting it themselves once they came across it. *Even most of the haters would be feeling this. I think it's make or break time for Lost + Found. "Tell Me Why" is the only way out and we are the only people who are gonna promote the album. We have nothing 2 lose and a decent chance of making SOME kinda impact.
  4. We gotta remember that there is also 2 DJ Jazzy Jeff's...ha ha. I never knew there were 2 50 Cents. When u said that, i instantly thought of CB4. MC Gusto....HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!
  5. No, trust me. 2Pac waz paying tribute to the real Biggie Smalls...not The Notorious B.I.G. Cuz when i 1st heard the track, i went and did research.
  6. When i 1st got on 2 the internet...shortly after 2Pac waz murdered, i was so in2 this. I'd stay up all nite at my friend's house reading this kinda stuff. It is really interesting even tho' alot of it is easily shot down by a knowlegable 2Pac fan. I remember when Chuck D put out a list of reason why 2Pac waz really still alive. Love him or hate him, 2Pac waz like no other emcee. He did record alot of B-level thugged out stuff, which waz mostly so he could fulfill his Deathrow contract and get off the label, but any one who listens 2 his music...REALLY listens 2 his music knows where his heart truely waz. He'd hit u with a pimped out party record for the clubs, then drop an introspective song on u that make stop and think about your own life. He wrote about the good and the bad, the right and the wrong....basically what life is all about 4 all different kinds of people. Some of the things on this list show just how smart he waz, how imaginative he waz, and how he covered all basis b4 it waz his time 2 go. Shock-G talks about it on the Thug Angel documentary. One thing i wanna clear up that's on alot of those lists. They say how 2Pac dedicated "God Bless The Dead" to Biggie. Which is of course really weird since he waz killed b4 B.I.G. That's becuz he's talking about the emcee Biggie Smalls from New York that forced The Notorious B.I.G. to adopt B.I.G. since he named him self Biggie Smalls years B.I.G. ever came out. 2Pac has passed away, he's not in Cuba or hiding from anyone. His mission waz completed and done. However, i don't believe that he's not resting in peace becuz of lists like these. Infact, he loves that people can't stop talking about him. No matter what they are saying. In the meantime, we have timeless masterpeices like Me Against The World 2 let us know who he truely was.
  7. I like it...but something the verses just isn't right. I also feel that her vocals should be a little louder. The sample on the hook is dope, but i'd take her vocals out of it and keep just the sample.
  8. Left Eye, Tatyana Ali, MC Lyte, Slick Rick, Biz Markie, Kel Spencer, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Shaggy, Sean Paul...and of course The Magnificent Jazzy Jeff.
  9. When i found out about the compilation album he's throwing 2gether, i was also told that he's trying 2 change the game in his own way. Here is a bit of the conversation i had with the source last month (slightly edited by the way)... ------------------------------------------------------------------- JumpinJack AJ: i mean, is it a mixtape? Hip-Hop compilation? etc? xxSOURCExx: Nah, an official album xxSOURCExx: There will be hip hop artists xxSOURCExx: Reggae artists xxSOURCExx: R&B singers xxSOURCExx: The whole nine but it's an attempt to get rid of the garbage that's out there xxSOURCExx: The whole project will have one central positive but still edgy theme... JumpinJack AJ: yeah, i'm all about that. I HATE what's on the radio. It's like Hip-Hop is my 1st love...but on the mainstream front, there basicly zero talent. And i don't keep my ear 2 heavily 2 the underground that much anymore xxSOURCExx: I feel you, dawg. I'm sick of it myself. ------------------------------------------------ FP has strong ties 2 the golden age of Hip-Hop. Stronger than his ties 2 the popular mainstream stuff. I'm guessing it's safe 2 say we'll get a mixture of old and new. However, i don't know what the chances are that he'd take it far back as Grandmaster Flash and so on. I don't know of 2 many colaboz that haven't gotten released. I know there waz a track with Jeff he did called "Keep It Real" for Big Willie Style that never got released...which waz apparently one of the best trax done 4 the CD. I don't consider Wyclef or Warren G old school. Of course Kwame produced other stuff for FP's current album. He's at least from the 80's.
  10. TheFreshestofThemAll....that is my joint as well. One of my fav songs of all time.
  11. FINALLY!! I personally don't care about the Aftermath stuff that much. If Rakim walked away from them cuz of artistic differences, then the music truely wasn't up 2 his level of expectation. He'd work something out 2 put that stuff on his new album if it waz worth it. Besides, Dre's production skills have been ?uestionable 2 me the past few years. He's working with alot of untalented people and his beats are up 2 par. I'd rather hear more Pete Rock or DJ Premier under him than Dre.
  12. Nobody lost big. Articles have headlines like that 2 get readers. I watched alot of the show last nite and it wazn't 2 bad. I think it's mainly becuz i've learned 2 be open 2 other music styles since commercial rap dosen't do it 4 me. Of course i'd put it on mute when there waz a performance i didn't wanna see and unpause the CD player....but i liked the show compared 2 The Grammies of the 90's.
  13. I for one can't stand T.I. Yet another dime a dozen rapper on the radio.
  14. By the time the album is in the finishing stages, i think FP will be on the album. Since the next album seems like it'll be taking a different direction from the 1st one, i think he'll definitly be on it...and at home. Another thing 2 take in consideration...JJ wasn't on B2R...and FP wasn't on The Magnificent. BUT JJ waz on L+F...so i'm thinkin' FP will be on The Return.
  15. Yeah, back when Big Willie Style waz blowin' up. All these people from the early days of his music career tried 2 do him greasy in the court room.
  16. I submitted the lyrics 2 "A Touch of Jazz (Collapsed In The Street Mix)" years ago. I rarely check the lyrics page. I thought they were always up there.
  17. JAGGED EDGE - So Amazing -self titled- (2006) I can't wait 4 the new album
  18. Busta is keeping code with Hood 101..."don't snitch." However, like the reporter said, as spiritual person, i'm sure he'll lead them 2 who did it. It could also be a public cover up but that he has or plans on tell them who is responsible 4 the shooting. As a famous emcee, it's dangerous 2 make moves like that cuz we all know how common it is for greedy unfamous rap entorage cats 2 do whatever it take 4 their famous counter part.
  19. I can't understand why so many of u are saying that what's "hot" is what Hip-Hop is or must be. Hip-Hop music is based off Hip-Hop culture...off the lifestyle. Not the charts. If u think Ja-Rule and 50 Cent are representing that, that's your thing. If u think Hip-Hop is drugs, ho's, money, and being hard...then maybe u've never been exposed 2 it or educated on it. Sure, some people live that lifestyle...but these cats selling millions of records aren't. And why would an incredible Hip-Hop artist like Mary J. Blige work with lowlifes like 50 Cent. Because the music business is both music and business. Record labels and producers pull that stuff 2gether half the time. That's why many artsits getting interviewed can't say 2 much about the other artists' career...cuz they simply aren't truly fans of their music in the 1st place. Hip-Hop is life...your around the way brother writing rhymes every night in his bedroom isn't anymore or less Hip-Hop then a legend like Rakim. There's a million cats who love this thing called Hip-Hop and who are doing it without the fame or the big money. Joe, u said u've never heard of Arrested Development. U can buy Eminem's and Ja-Rule's albums all u want. But Arrested Development waz on top of the charts and winning Grammies years b4 those 2 even recorded their 1st rhyme. After AD took a break, they desided 2 keep things indie cuz the music business is a joke. By saying u've never heard of Arrested Development, u have just shown your limited knowlege on Hip-Hop. I'm not knocking u at all, but how can u say Ja-Rule is Hip-Hop if u haven't even heard the real thing. I know about real Hip-Hop...i know about old school...and i know about this new commercial trash polluting the airwaves. Take it 4 what it is. But don't defend the trash until u hear the gems or get a taste of Hip-Hop culture yourself. I'm not the only one who feels this way....i'm just the only willing 2 jump in the ring. Those who i've talked 2 outside of the board should step up for what they believe in...but even if they don't, i've done it 4 them. Bigted, i always respect your opinion on Hip-Hop...what happened. I'm not the only one on this board scratching my head. I'm out.
  20. I could never really get in 2 Jay-Z after 1998...and even tho' i respect alot of Nas' stuff, i can't say i follow him that closely. But it is refreshing 2 read something like this. At the same time, am i the only one who is having "The Best of Both Worlds" flashbacks??
  21. I'm sick of these immature, talent-lacking fools who are getting record deals who are shooting, stabbing, and fighting each other. It's time 2 grow up learn some self control. Busta needs 2 start hanging out with people of his caliber.
  22. KELLY CLARKSON - Because of You (live on the Grammies) Breakthrough (2004) This song is amazing. 2 see her put it 2 the stage (while looking beautiful) is great.
  23. MARY J. BLIGE feat. DAVE YOUNG - Alone The Breakthrough (2005) Amazing song off and amazing album!!
