REV RUN - Home Sweet Home Distortion (2005)
-
Let me start off by saying i've never really been a fan of Biggie. I simply don't see why some people claim he's one of the best rappers ever. When i look at his production, lyrics, and delivery...i don't see anything that good. However, as i got older, when i'd hear his singles that used 2 get overplayed on the radio, they take me 2 a good place when i waz growing up. His strongest skill waz the way he could rhythmically ride a beat. Anyways, i try 2 give everything an honest listen...so i gave his overly-doctored Duets album a listen. Much like the doctored 2Pac albums, the production is commercial rap filler. The best beat on the album is produced by ex-ATOJ producers Andre Harris + Vidal Davis which also features The Game and Faith. I've never really like The Game, but his voice has greatly improved on this joint. The stupidest thing about this project is that they just ripped Biggie's old verses off his previously released music. At least with the 2Pac projects, nearly all of the material waz never released (outside of bootlegs). Biggie only has 1 verse on most of the trax...making it hard 2 actually consider it his own album. There's a dope 2Pac verse on the track "Living In Pain" that i don't think i've ever heard b4. Mary J's vocals on it come across very nicely. Nas also pops up. The cool thing about this track as that all these artists were out while he waz. It's hard 2 accept having Eminem and The Game on the same track as him since u can't cross their careers. I know there are a few Biggie fans on this board, so i waz wondering what your opinion was. Nobody trip about my opinion, cuz like i stated above, i've never really liked him...so i'm biased. I personly would be offended with this album...just like i am with Loyal To The Game as a long-time 2Pac follwer.

KEL SPENCER - Black Hand Side Who Is Kel Spencer? (2005)
-
I had 2 go with 50 Cent. Pretty much everything he's ever said has been stupid. Kanye is in 2nd place. He needs 2 realize that most of his beats are dope, but his lyrics and flow are never better than average. Everytime he opens his mouth he comes across stupider. The BET program directors are next up. They just seem like sell-outs when it comes 2 that statement. Bow Wow i put in last place. Yeah, he doesn't need 2 talk about FP like that, but next 2 50 Cent and Kanye West, his comments seem pretty harmless. Besides, we all know he loves FP.

LOOSE CANNONS - Get Drunk (((unreleased))) (2005)

Since he isn't saving the world or playing a cop, he's a much more down 2 earth character. I think he feels very much at home in that role. In some senses, it's FPofBA grown up.

I've been very busy the last 3 months. I have 2 force myself 2 visit this board sometimes and usually end up losing sleep. I don't 4get his board tho'...just waiting 4 a moment 2 swing by.

They go 2 Aspen every single year. I 1st found out in 1997 when one of my friends actually met him there. She said FP and his crew were the only black people in Aspen...ha ha. One thing is 4 sure...FP is Born To Ski. (Anyone wanna look 4 that old post?)

Was Eminem Worth Responding To...?
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
The thing is...FP's line isn't really even a diss. He just talks about how he avoided the beef that could have been. If he dissed anyone, it waz Larry Elder and Wendy Williams. -
SPEECH - The Vagabond (da album) All Speech and Arrested Development fans need 2 pick this up. It's available on their website, but it's also been commerically released. It has some new stuff along with some old stuff (which most people have never heard since his albums have only been available thru' his site).

Was Eminem Worth Responding To...?
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I think it waz cool the way he mentioned Eminem. FP never stated there waz a diss record 4 him...only that he had a song where he delt with those who attacked him over the years. He approached the whole thing in a very funny way without being tasteless. It just showed that he wazn't trying 2 shy away from the whole Eminem thing and how he could care less what waz said in the past. Let's forget that Emiem instigated a bunch of TRL viewers 2 chant "Will Smith sucks" and poked fun at him in the "Forgot About Dre" video. Eminem is past that era of his life (and making crappier music). FP always remains untouched with some new school rapper has something negative 2 say about him. -

ALVIN + THE CHIPMUNKS - Men In Black The A Files (1998) Usually The Chipmunks give the original artist a run 4 their money when they cover their songs...but not in this case. I really think Kanye West should do a colabo with them since he speeds up all his samples. Alvin probably only wants 2 work with true wordsmiths tho.'

What is the best album to get?
JumpinJack AJ replied to JJMarsh's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
While each album is totally JJ+FP and has multi-flavas...especially as time went on, i'd go by the vibe each album has... ROCK THE HOUSE (1987) - straight old school HE'S THE DJ, I'M THE RAPPER - classic golden age Hip-Hop AND IN THIS CORNER... - late 89's, high energy, experimental Hip-Hip HOMEBASE - Hip-Hop mixed with a dash of club music...personification of early 90's CODE RED - laid back, straight Hip-Hip 4 the 90's -
Mary J. Blidge goes #1 on Billboard last week
JumpinJack AJ replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
That Mary J album is dope. I wish is waz a bit grittier, but i love it. I could see "Tell Me Why" getting an extra push since her new album just came out. Let's hope for the best. I STILL haven't gotten Jamie Foxx's album. I think i'll get it 2day. I actually loved his 1st album but i never got it. Now u can find it on ebay for LOTS and LOTS of money. I actually have taped performances of him when he waz sining love on The Arsenio Hall Show back in the mid-90's. -
Weird Al is hilarious. I got the album this track waz on back in 2003. Weird Al rides the beat better than Nelly.

Of all the entertainers out there, she definitly deserves one. I love seeing Hip-Hop on the Walk of Fame.

I got some news from an inside source that i want 2 share. Those of u who have been around 4 awhile know u can trust me...those who aren't...u'll just have 2 take my word on this. FP is putting 2gether a compilation album that will feature a wide array of Hip-Hop, R-N-B, and Reggae artists. The over all theme will be a promoting positive, quality music in attempt 2 weaken the garbage on the radio. Kel Spencer will be on the album and writing 4 it. This source also said that FP still has at least a few laps left in his music career. Also, FP has some cameos in Kel Spencer's upcoming video. I don't know about u, but i'm excited about this project. We gotta do all we can 2 get the word out there and make this BIG.

ASHANTI + FREE - Focus (Remix) Collectables By Ashanti (2005) Good commercial R-N-B...but since i've recently picked up Goapele's new album...it's leaving Ashanti in the dust.

The destruction of Party Starter
JumpinJack AJ replied to thachief's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
"Switch" is dope and waz a great single choice. After all, look what it's done. "Party Starter" waz a great choice 2, but they took 2 long 2 release it. Radio and TV have turned their shoulder on it 4 no reason. There's no other reason why the song hasn't hit the way it should have.
