  1. HEY!!! As a way 2 direct people on how 2 find the music we listen 2...i think with this post, we should put the album it's on and the year it came out. For instance... ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT - Rules To The Game Heros of The Harvest (2000)
  2. I waz very disappointed with Mos Def's most recent album. Infact, i never listen 2 it. I remember really liking about 3 trax...and the rest just aren't that good. There's alot of rock influenced stuff that i don't like on it. I'm about 2 make a Hip-Hop mix CD and i waz gonna put 2 or 3 of those trax i love on the mix since i never listen 2 the album.
  3. I'm always up past 12...so i'll definitly be checking 4 it. I'm not sure if they update it then cuz i don't really check that stuff out very often. I've heard lots of songs when they premier cuz AOL advertises them. But i never check their music section just 2 do it. My crappy computer rarely plays videos anyway so i never check 4 videos....i will this time.
  4. Congratz!! When u guys talk about getting a hard-2-find album, i honestly get all hyped along with u, cuz i can just imagin how it feels 2 finally hear some old music 4 the 1st time.
  5. Don't forget... JJ+FP - He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper WILL SMITH - Big Willie Style --- MC HAMMER - Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em DAS EFX - Dead Serious (everybody jacked their "diggity" style) THE FUGEES - The Score
  6. While we are on this topic...let me just say the Four Brothers soundtrack is dope. Since the movie took place in Detroit (yes, that means Marky Mark waz the illest white boy in Detroit for a few months...ha ha), they desided 2 load up the soundtrack 2 the movie with 70's and 60's Motown. For those that don't know...Motown's homebase waz Detroit. Back 2 the music tho', It's not the sugar coated happy Motown stuff. It's the heavier, darker side of Motown. I popped the soundtrack in when i got off work the other day. The music is just so good that i drove around for nearly 2 hours listening 2 it b4 i went home.
  7. STACIE ORRICO - Christmas Wish Yes, i'm listening 2 Christmas music in August/September...ha ha. I found the $40 Japan version of this album for only $5, so i had 2 get it.
  8. I've read and heard so much about all of that. I can't even mentally bring myself 2 terms with what they are going thru' down there. My prayers are going out 2 those people.
  9. I'm amazed that some of that stuff is so high and how some of it is so low. If quality waz in issues, FP would be on top along with Common Sense and the Black Eyed Peas. Kanye West would be in the middle...and 50 Cent would be nowhere in sight.
  10. I love alot 60's and 70's music. I know about most of those artists u listed....but 4 many of them, i would only be familiar with a few of their songs each. I will say that Marvin Gaye is one of my favorite arstists of all time. The stuff he did with Tammy Terrell is amazing. Sam Cooke is amazing 2 me. Etta James' voice is amazing. And generally, anything on Motown is amazing 2 me. Every few months i pick up a CD filled with old stuff. Whether it's a greatest hits album by somebody or a compilation CD, i gotta dig deeper in2 old music from time 2 time.
  11. I've always been in 2 PE. I only have 4 of their albums, but i've been following them since 1990. Q-Tip's new album comes out on Motown on September 27th!! And take my word on that Rihanna album...not many albums make me this happy. This reminds me of Diana King's debut if she would have came out in the 2000's.
  12. As a huge music collector, i've noticed that alot of overseas CD singles are released nearly a month after the single/video drops in the US. So this dosen't mean that the video is gonna come out then. Things are about 2 start happening again. It's about tyme!!
  13. RIHANNA - Music of The Sun (da album...FLAWLESS)
  14. Ted, i just suggest 2 listen 2 the album in a record store 1st...just 2 make sure u wanna get it. The only reason i get albums when they 1st drop is cuz they are cheapest then.
  15. AOL usually has a few videos that they premier at the same time. So if that source at the WS board is legit...i wouldn't let the Shakira thing throw us off. However, if that person just posted that with no source, then we are gonna get hyped over nothing.
  16. I got some new music 2day... Q-TIP - For The Nasty (da new promo single) If u get certain albums at Circuit City, u can get the promo single for Q-Tip's new song "For The Nasty" featuring Busta Rhymes!! Sadly, all of the albums available 2 purchase 2 get this single are stuff i'd never check out (except 4 Bow Wow, which i got just 2 get this single). The song is produced by The Neptunes, but it dosen't have their signature sound. It's a Hip-Hop beat, but it's not really comparable 2 anything. It seems a lil' empty 2 me. There are chants in the background, and this guitars (almost tribal sounding) over a very basic percussion set. Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes are of course modern day legends, but this track is pretty laid back and simple compared 2 most of their stuff. It's very refreshing hearing some skillz in Hip-Hop again. Q-Tip's album is slated 2 drop September 27th. Oh yeah, and the albums that will get u this promo single, which u'll probably have 2 ask 4, are Ying Yang Twins, Slim Thug, Young Jeezy, Ruff Ryders Vol. 4, the Hustle + Flow Soundtrack, and Bow Wow. BOW WOW - Wanted (da album) Most of u have heard the single "Let Me Hold You" featuring Omarion. I personally love it. Tho' i wanted this album, i waz gonna wait 4 a used copy 2 cop at a cheap price. However, i had 2 get that Q-Tip single...and Bow Wow ain't all that bad 2 me these days. Bow Wow's flow is tight. Unlike alot of people making records commerically these days, u can understand every word he says. His lyrics aren't bad either. However, like Kris Kross, he's slowly introducing explict stuff in2 his music. He's not goin' gangsta or anything, but he's droppin' the N-word from time 2 time. Most of the album is produced by Jermaine Dupri. Some of the beats are really dope. But compared 2 most of his work, some of these beats are 2 simple. I think the idea waz 2 keep Bow Wow grounded and not so sugarcoated. Most of the beats do get better with every listen tho.' JD, Snoop, and Ciara also shine on the album. Not a bad album but not great either. RIHANNA - Music of The Sun WOW!!! This album is amazing. I haven't gotten an album this solid in awhile. Song after song is great. They work 2gether as an album, and every song is good enough 2 be a single. It's just an ill reggae, dancehall, R-N-B album. Her voice is great, the music is brilliant. I can't say enough good things about this album. If u are in2 this stuff or like her 1st single "Pon De Replay"...GET THIS ALBUM. And 4 the fellaz, the picture of her wasteline is sexy enough 2 be worth the price of the CD...ha ha. KANYE WEST - Late Registration Well, i touched on this album in the other post. Some of the beats are dope....some are good. I can't say anything bad about them. Kanye's lyrics are often good, but sometimes bland. However, he isn't talking about all the same crap 50 and Ja-Rule are talking about...but at the same time, he'll never be able 2 touch Common Sense. It's Kanye's flow that kills me sometimes. When he's just cool and down 2 earth, but sometimes he thinks he's more than he is, and that's when his flow gets really boring. The skits are wack tho.' They are kinda funny the 1st time u hear them, but after that they are just really annoying. Other new albums i've checked recently were PUBLIC ENEMY's greatest hits album. Of course it's dope. It's hit after hit. Of course their library of work is huge so there are some trax that PE fans will really miss on the tracklisting. For me it waz "I Stand Accused." NATASHA BEDDINGFEILD - Unwritten Man, this is ecollectic pop at it's best. If u like Nelly Furtado, check this album. Her lyrics are great, her voice is different and good. And they way she mixes R-N-B, Pop, Hip-Hop, and rock is brilliant. TIARRA MARI - (((i 4get the title of it))) I liked her single and saw the album mad cheap the week it dropped...so i got it. She has a great voice, but the Roc-A-Fella image messes with her skill i think. The beats are all commercial...some good, some boring. Sometimes, i think the image and marketing thing take away from who she really is. Worth listening 2 tho.' BACKSTREET BOYS - Never Gone Here we go, i know i'ma get clowned 4 this. But would i be keepin' it real if i shyed away from something i really felt. A few of u know me from the early 90's and know that i'm famous for leading Anti-Boy Band movements...ha ha. But those days are over and that stuff dosen't bother me anymore. Well, i kinda liked their single "Incomplete" and listened 2 the album. The whole album is pop (but not radio-friendly super pop). Honestly, i liked it enough 2 get it. The lyrics are great, their voices are strong, and all the music is live instruments. I never thought i'd see the day were i bought a Backstreet Boys...but here i am, and i'm liking this...ha ha.
  17. I'm so back and forth about Kanye West. I didn't plan on getting the album until after hearing it (2 see if it waz worth it). However, i went out 2 pick up Rihanna's album (which is amazing) and saw Kanye's album at Wal-Mart with the bonus DVD. I picked it up just 2 remind myself of the song titles and who waz on it. For some reason i had this crazy feeling come over me that i should get it...so i did. Most of my opinions are similar 2 FuQ's. I'm not gonna break it down, but the bests go from average to very good. Kanye's flow is never that impressive, but hardly ever really bad. And his lyrics go back and forth from inspiring 2 just doing the job. Out of all the commerical Hip-Hop and Rap out there....i'd put this album right under FP's and BEP's. Of course there aren't really any good albums on the commercial front so that dosen't say much. When i got College Dropout, i hardly listened 2 it. I think i'll listen 2 this one more, but it'll never get heavy rotation. In these days of commercial Hip-Hop/Rap....this album is as close 2 a breath of fresh air as u'll get. Out of 10, i'd give it a 6 or 7. Is he overrated...YES. Is he talented...YES. Is the album on the level of FP's, Common's, or BEP's...NO.
  18. Melle Mel is one of the greatest emcees of all time...but i can't imagin him saying that. I'd like 2 know the source b4 i shake my head in disappointment.
  19. don't download, go out and buy the record...when it drops
  20. I don't think Puffy's hosting waz that bad. The only thing that i thought waz really stupid waz his "performance." The dancers, the water, the special effects were all very cool...the probably waz, he wazn't even performing a song...ha ha. It waz just akward. I kinda liked some of the spontanious stuff he did. MTV Awards have never been about Hip-Hop so i don't know why articles like this wanna complain. It's just an award show.
  21. I thought it might b4 cool 2 release them both at the same time. But then i got thinkin'...and that woudl probably have them competing against each other. It's hard enough 2 get his stuff on TV and on the radio, so i think it would be a bad idea 2 have the singles going up against each other.
  22. Well, they've never premiered a video on the awards now...why would they start now? On top of that, it would be weird 2 watch a live event like that and spend over 3 minutes watching a music video. It just dosen't make sense.
