Yo, i gotta say i'm crAzY hyped about the movie Four Brothers. 4 those of u who haven't seen the trailor 4 this movie. It's about 4 guys who were adopted by a woman, and raised in a very 'hood enviornment. Their mother is killed in a mom 'n pops spot (owned by her i believe) and they bond 2gether 2 see if they can track down the killer. It features Marky Mark, Tyrese, Andre (from OutKast) and some other guy. The movie looks intense. Check 4 the trailor. I think the movie hits theaters August 12th. If u've seen the trailor, let me know if u are hyped as much as i am.

Will urges rappers to become role models

Very cool!! I love this article. I can't wait 2 see what he has 2 say. Hopefully this will drive people 2 pick up the new album...which could change the game. -
As of right now, me and my friends don't have 2 many plans. Some of us were gonna go 2 Live 8 in Philly but i desided that basically the ONLY reason i waz gonna go waz 2 see JJ+FP and that since it seemed so unorganized and since they might only do one of those 15 minute medleys, i figured i'd hold out until they tour in a few months. Instead, we are gonna see fireworks at one of the battlefeilds. We have a huge group coming. We might watch ID4...but JJ+FP will be being played all weekend, that's 4 sure.

White Audience for Black Conscious Hip-Hop
JumpinJack AJ replied to Hero1's topic in Caught in the Middle
The Chronic is a dope Hip-Hop album....but it opened the door 4 all these wanna-be'z that just took the gun and weed talk and based their entire albums off it. After The Chronic, everybody waz gangsta. It's not really Dr. Dre's fault...but that's the way things panned out. -
A whole new way of viewing life

Listening 2 music on the computer is wack...period. I NEVER listen 2 music on the computer. U can miss so much from a song that way. The few L+F songs i heard on the computer didn't have half the impact they did until the CD dropped and i heard it in my car. -

White Audience for Black Conscious Hip-Hop
JumpinJack AJ replied to Hero1's topic in Caught in the Middle
Yeah, the article did shed some light on a strange situation. I think that Hip-Hop/Rap is so commercially gone, that this is no surprise. Back in the 90's...when phoney gangsta rap got really outta hand (somewhere around '94/'95), from my point of view, that's when the "white audience" got really active, of course the "black audience" was feeling it 2, but i believe that where the white audidence really bought in 2 Rap. While Hip-Hop has had it's monets, i think most of us agree that commercially it's been on a downward spiral until we got 2 where we are now....where maybe 1 or 2 legit Hip-Hop artists find extreem commercial success each year. Only the dime-a-dozen, untalented people like G-Unit, D12, and so on are getting airplay. The main audience 4 rap puts that stuff on the charts. When it comes 2 those non-commerical acts, like the ones they are talking about in the article, i think typically, white people will go 2 anyshow that is in there area if the price is reasonable. I agree that it LOOKS as if the black audience isn't stimulated by politically driven Hip-Hop anymore...and alot of that is probably very true. Anybody who will vote 4 a song like "How We Do" or "Disco Inferno" obvoiusly dosen't require much 2 stimulate their mind when it comes 2 music. I can't wait 4 a change....cuz it's sad trying 2 talk about music and most of my friends can only talk about decent music when i burn them a mixtape of stuff NOT on the radio. -

Joe, how can u think Suge had something 2 do with Biggie's murder and not 2Pac's. I think his involvment in Biggie's murder is more of a stretch than 2Pac's. 2Pac wanted leave Deathrow records. He only signed 2 the label so that Suge would get him outta jail. After he saw how corrupt the whole scene waz, he recorded alot of music that waz just filler-material...at least compared 2 his real music (which is why there waz so much material left over). 2Pac waz trying 2 fulfill his contract and get off the label. Suge knew that, which is why i think he had something 2 do with 'Pac's murder. Suge never respected 2Pac's legacy and never helped out his family after the murder. Suge only paid 2Pac with chump change and then gave him cars that were in Suge's name. 2Pac wazn't happy on Deathrow, it waz obvious in his "on record personality" and even in interviews. Let's keep in mind that Suge is the same guy that threatened 2 throw Vanilla Ice off a balcony if didn't sign papers saying that one of Suge's people co-wrote "Ice Ice Baby." Suge also threatened half the artists on his label at one point or another. He also kicked the guy who started the company out of the pictuter when "The Chronic" started blowing up. Suge is just a nasty, evil person no matter how u look at it.

The new cartoon The Batman has been airing here in the US for a year or so. I've never watched it. I read that it's very average and that the main point of it is 2 sell toys. They had plans for the toys months b4 they even had storylines created.

Circuit City had a bonus On The Set featurette DVD that came with the perchase of Hitch. They sold out b4 i could get it so i had 2 find it on the internet. I got it in the mail yesterday. It's about 15 minutes long. I has lots of interviews and insight on the movie including all of the stars of the movie. They talk about the script, about working with each other, and professionals back up alot of the facts that FP gives thru' out the movie. When it comes 2 FP, it shows him shooting alot of his scenes. His interview was shot during the wedding scene becuz he's wearing that suit. He talked about reading the 1st page of the script and wanting his part. He talks about his chemestry with the director and how they disagreed all the time, so when they did agree on something, they knew that moment waz gonna be "golden" on the screen. There's a part where Eva runs off 2 go 2 the bathroom and he starts talking 2 the camera and says she's has a drinkin' problem...kinda like the way he makes fun of Jazzy in the "Summertime: And Other Hits" video...ha ha. My favorite part is where the director calls cut becuz they had a "camera jam" and FP goes in2 a beatbox freestyle talking about the camera jam...it's HILARIOUS. If i can hooked my stuff right 2 bootleg the JJ+FP DVD and put it on CD, i'll try 2 put the audio of this featurette on CD as well so it can be put up on the board.

MC HAMMER - Straight To My Feet
-
MC Hammer has stayed busy...however, not all of his projects actually get off the ground. His last album waz 2001's Active Duty. That album wazn't exactly a true studio album becuz the theme waz giving homage 2 all different styles of Hip-Hop all over the county (laid back west coast stuff, east coast style, dirty south style). I like the album but it's not on the level of his others. MC Hammer did Surreal Life in 2001 or 2002 and i think it waz a proper way 2 show the man that he really is. He waz funny, the peacemaker, the most intellegent one there, and they even showed him giving a sermon. Even if u don't like his music, u'd love the man that he is after watching the show. A year or 2 ago he started working on a clothingline but i haven't heard any news on that. Last summer he dropped the extreemly rare promo single 4 the song "Full Blast" where he disses Eminem. It's a choppy club/funk kinda song. There waz a video 4 it also, which i've seen the very end of. The b-side is a track called "Sunshine" which i love...it's a summertime song. He also released a video 4 the song "Hard Times" last fall which waz amazing. However, there hasn't been any other singles or albums.
