  1. Kenya Moore Fires Back At Janet Hubert's ClaimsMoore: 'When it comes to my business I don't play.' Camille Travis POSTED: 05/07/2015 01:15 PM EDTFiled Under Celebrity Feuds, Celebrity News, Janet Hubert, Kenya MooreIf there's one thing Kenya Moore will fight for, it's her business. Just days after Janet Hubert revealed she was taking legal action against the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star, Moore has come forward to address the issue at hand. Hubert alleges she was never paid for her work on Moore's sitcom pilot "Life Twirls On" and claims she's filed criminal fraud charges. But Moore is telling a different story. On Thursday, she wrote on Instagram: "I don't fight dirty and when it comes to my business I don't play. There have been numerous false allegations made from Janet Hubert regarding non-payment for her work on the TV pilot Life Twirls On and most recently criminal activity. Although Miss Hubert had been issued a total of 4 checks for her work since November 2014, SAG/AFTRA has officially determined that Moore Vision Media does not owe Miss Hubert any additional payment and all claims have been settled. We regret Miss Hubert felt it necessary to make relentless personal attacks by slandering the producers, however, we echo the sentiment of the producers of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and wish Miss Hubert well in her future endeavors. Life Twirls On premieres tomorrow Friday, May 8, 2015 at 8pm. Please go to Facebook.com/thekenyamoore or KenyaMoore.com to watch. Network premiere TBA." Such a convenient time for Moore to respond. But hey, you've got to take advantage of press-- good, bad or otherwise-- when there's something to promote. thekenyamoore7 hours ago I don't fight dirty and when it comes to my business I don't play. 2. I haven't found it in stores, so I recently bought it online. I'm waiting for it to arrive in the mail.
  3. P.M. DAWN - Beyond Infinite Affections The Bliss Album...? (1993)
  4. Hip-Hop Collector posted this on Facebook today...
  5. I love that you got to hand out with them. I kinda figured we all assumed what you were sharing though...lol. It doesn't really seem like news to me, but I'm happy to hear it.
  6. I have zero interest in sports, but I hope Mayweather loses just because he's a douchebag.
  7. Will Smith Premieres His Deadshot Costume – to Resounding Groans By James St. James on April 30, 2015 10:18 am Find more: DC comics, Suicide squad, upcoming movies, Will Smith, wtf Gotta say, I’m getting a little worried about Suicide Squad. Not only is it falling victim to over-casting (with everybody in Hollywood getting a part), but we’re beginning to see some massive missteps in the costuming department. Just look at this mess. Will Smith as Deadshot is already a stretch. But THIS? WTF is going on here? Since when was Deadshot in Shaft? Where’s the red jumpsuit, wrist-mounted guns, and cool-as-**** metal face plate with the targeting device? Even OUT OF COSTUME, there’s no way Ffloyd Lawton would dress like a reject from the Wild, Wild West. I feel like the Powers that Be have been letting Will influence the character’s look (like when nobody had the nerve to tell Johnny Depp the Big Bad Wolf shouldn’t be in a zoot suit) – NEVER A GOOD THING. Get it together, DC. You ALMOST had me excited by Jared Leto‘s Joker reveal, then I remembered it was JARED LETO playing THE JOKER and went back to being skeptical. http://worldofwonder.net/will-smith-premieres-his-deadshot-costume-to-resounding-groans/
  8. LOL! "Buy our detergent." That is easily one of his greatest ad libs. That clip of the performance looked dope. Maybe the person who posted the video actually has the performance.
  9. Have you donated yet? Time is running out!! De La Soul Defends Kickstarter Album: “This Is Not About Pocketing Money”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5VslWglQrMLast week, De La Soul released “God It,” the Nas-assisted, presumed first single from their upcoming eighth studio album, reportedly called, And The Anonymous Nobody. For Hip-Hop fans, this is a benchmark album before Heads press play, due to the fact it is the largest crowd-funded album in the Rap genre to date. One month ago, the Long Island, New York Hip-Hop trio offered fans an array of thank-you gifts and packages, aiming to raise $110,000 for the LP. Astonishingly, it took only nine hours to reach the goal, with the Native Tongues co-founders now approaching $500,000 in funds from fans. The costs of the album are associated with a nostalgic analog recording studio and materials, along with mechanical royalties for the 26-year veterans to sample their own past catalog, much of which is on their former label, Tommy Boy Records. Speaking with Vlad TV, the trio defended their practice in asking fans for dollars. All three De La Soul members (Posdnous, Maseo, Dave) spoke candidly, in addressing perceptions that they are either broke, or wealthy artists asking loyal fans for even more than usual. The trio never addresses their thank-you gifts (including memorabilia, tour passes, and extensive interactions with fans). Instead, the Da.I.S.Y. crew wave off notions that “Kickstarter is the new Koch” (as presented by DJ Vlad). They explain that they are over-stepping labels, and simply serving their base, with the kind of music and relationship that all artists dream of. At the 10:00 mark, Dave accuses the music industry’s decline as “cheap people, and free music” (something he also addressed on “God It”). The MC formerly known as Trugoy also adds that if De La were stingy, why did they give away their music for free last year? At 12:00, Maseo breaks some more news on that, alluding to the possibility that De La Soul was sued by their former label(s). “The server cracks and then you get a letter from a lawyer.” As groups like Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest, and N.W.A. have gone on hiatus due—in part—to label woes, is crowd-funding the wave of the future to break out the “slavery” system (as Dave calls it), and work directly with the fans who made them stars? Should De La have to defend themselves, when the numbers/results show the response?
  10. Rakim is Releasing His First Solo Album in More Than 5 Years (Video) Montreality, with their original and spirited questions, spoke to Rakim, again (after his grabbing 2012 look). Sitting down with the God MC, a lot is covered in less than 10 minutes. Notably, Rakim confirmed that he is fast at work on his fourth solo studio album. “This is one of those albums where I can have fun. My last album, The Seventh Seal, was somewhat of a conscious album. I wanted to made a statement on that album.” Comparing this to his mixed-reviewed 2009 SMC Recordings effort, Ra’ noted that this one is more “Hip-Hop.” No titles or specific details were added, besides the fact that the MC is aiming for mid-2015 release. Montreality played J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar for Rakim. It is interesting to watch who many consider the best MC of all-time listen actively to who many consider to be the best MCs of this time. Ra’ is especially grateful to the “January 28th” nod to Rakim and “I Ain’t No Joke.” They also play some To Pimp A Butterfly for the former Aftermath Entertainment artist. Speaking about the accolades and sales enjoyed by Cole and Kendrick, Rakim states, “We gotta make sure we keep the scale tilted little bit on the trademark Hip-Hop side, and everything else can filter through as well, as long as we stay focused.” In dissecting the contrasts of age, Rakim argues that the 50 year-olds watching DJ Kool Herc spin in the early ’70s are now in their nineties, stressing that Hip-Hop does not just belong to the young, but rather, is ageless. Additionally, the Long Island, New York legend adds that he feels he is at his sharpest with the mic today, but cites 50% confidence and 50% cockiness as to why. Lastly, and maybe most interestingly, Rakim turns into a teacher (not unlike his man KRS-One) to explain how the popularized notion of “God” is a lie in his eyes. This is so much deeper than words can do justice, so just scan to the 5:00 mark and take Rakim’s, as he works in the origin of the word, Greek translations, and more to argue his point. All the more interesting, Ra’ is “the God MC.” Do you think Hip-Hop is ageless? Check out Rakim in Ambrosia For Heads’ “Finding The GOAT” series, where he and 10 other MCs now enter Round 5 to see who—in the eyes of the people—is the Greatest Of All Time MC.
  11. This is actually pretty exciting. I don't follow the movie board as closely, so hopefully this hasn't already been posted. Hopefully this leads to a music collaboration. Common Sense already co-wrote for the Willenium album. Pass The Popcorn: Common Signs On To Star In DC Comics’ ‘Suicide Squad’ Common has been openly campaigning for a role in DC Comics’ cinematic universe, and after months of being in people’s ears about it, he may have just gotten his shot. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Com has an inked a deal to star alongside Will Smith and Jared Leto in DC’s forthcoming Suicide Squad treatment, which explores a narrative that finds all of the most notorious super-villains in their realm recruited by the government to take on covert operations in exchange for their freedom. And while this doesn’t appear to be the Green Lantern gig he had always hoped for (though there’s really no way to tell, since the plot details are still quite murky) we’re glad Lonnie Lynn will finally realize his childhood comic book nerd dream. The film is still in development, currently filming in Toronto, but is eying a 2016 release. The role, though it’s yet to be specified exactly what it is, will follow-up appearances in Selma (which earned him and John Legend exactly half of an EGOT for the song “Glory”) and forthcoming roles in thrillers like Hunter Killer and Run All Night. Be sure to stay tuned as we keep our eyes on the project. http://www.okayplayer.com/news/common-signs-on-to-dc-comics-suicide-squad.html
  12. REDMAN - I'll Bee Dat! Doc's Da Name (1998) Oh man, I always wanted this album and just never got it. I finally got it tonight and I'm being time warped back to fall 1998.
  13. Most of us have probably seen this before, but it's been awhile. It's from the same shoot as the one at the top of this page of the thread.
  14. It's cool that a lot of the cast is returning, but it doesn't justify returning to a world and trying to come up with a new story for it when the first is a stand-alone film in every way. It'll be interesting to see if I'll eat my own words in the future, but I see this whole thing as fueled by greed. There's no art to it, just a chance to monopolize off something people already spent a lot of money to see back in 1996.
  15. The link at the bottom will take you to the music video. I'm not sure why it didn't load as a video.
  16. Gang Starr’s Guru Lives In Spirit. Watch His New Music Video (Premiere)This weekend (April 19) marks five years since the tragic passing of Keith “Guru” Elam. A founding member of Gang Starr, Guru is a Boston, Massachusetts-born MC known for his street-smart rhymes, raspy voice, and 20-plus-year quest to stylishly merge Hip-Hop with Jazz. In honor of Guru and the sad death anniversary, another Boston MC, Avrex takes a lesser heard Guru track, and re-edits it with the late icon’s family’s blessing. Big Shug, an early Gang Starr member and longtime collaborator with Guru and DJ Premier, also joins Avrex for “Propaganda.” The song is produced by DJ Lord Ron, who was friends with Guru, and originally laced ">the low-key 2000s-era track which the MC recorded before his 2010 death. In the intro of the video premiered with Ambrosia For Heads, listeners will hear and see Guru’s sister, Patricia Elam celebrate and praise the work. “I’m so happy that some one is trying to keep his legacy alive,” she says of the song and video, which also includes appearances by Ice-T, Sadat X, and M-Dot, among others. Guru’s verse highlights the staged propaganda of the 1990s East/West Coast feud in Hip-Hop. He shouts out his own label, Ill Kid Records while supporting longtime partner, DJ Premier’s Year Round Records imprint as well. Avrex follows in, weaving in some iconic imagery from Guru’s discography. Shug (who just released Triple OGzus last month) closes out the collaboration talking about police profiling, stereotypes holding back society, and more. The video includes lots of footage from Guru and Gang Starr, including concert and TV visuals from their extensive career. In conjunction with the video, Avrex has released $2 MP3 downloads of the song. Additionally, Avrex has released “Propaganda” t-shirts. Rest In Peace Guru.
  17. Random question, do we want the feature that allows people to rank members of the board. I see how some of the regular posters who are contributing to the board have negative ratings. Tim created the board and he probably has the worst rating. Who are the idiots who are rating people? I just kinda feel that the feature is irrelevant. Also, and this one is for the moderators, there were reported issues for the board that have been sitting for a few weeks. I finally had a minute to go in and clean them out. One of them was a random link, which was spam. The other two were not worth of being reported. To my understanding, these were reported at three different times by guests. I was just wondering if someone who isn't logged in or registered should be able to report stuff since it ended up being a waste of my time for the most part. Just thoughts...
  18. This beat is dope! Sounds like something Digable Planets would rhyme over in 2015. Jaden is trippy and pretty legit on the mic. I wish he'd release an album loaded with songs on this level. Man, this is so good.
  19. Percy Sledge Dies at 73Apr 14, 2015, 11:00 AM ETBy MICHAEL ROTHMAN and ANDREA DRESDALE Percy Sledge is pictured performing at the Joy Theater on Jan. 28, 2012 in New Orleans, La.Erika Goldring/Getty ImagesFamed R&B singer Percy Sledge died this morning in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, his agent Steve Green confirmed to ABC News. He was 73. The Alabama native, most known for his classic 1966 hit "When a Man Loves a Woman," which reach No. 1 on the charts, died after a long battle with cancer, his agent of 35 years added. Sledge had been singing for the past 50 years and music was released under his name all the way till 2013 with "The Gospel of Percy Sledge." According to Sledge's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame bio, his hit "'When a Man Loves a Woman' topped the R&B and pop charts for multiple weeks and raised the bar for soul balladeering for all time. Yet Sledge’s career didn’t end with that momentous first single. Over the years he racked up a dozen hits at Atlantic, including 'Warm and Tender Love,' 'It Tears Me Up,' 'Out of Left Field' and 'Take Time to Know Her.'" His most-famous song was inspired by real life events. "When a Man Loves a Woman" was about "a girl who left Sledge for another guy," his bio reads. Sledge "was working as a hospital orderly when he began playing clubs and frat parties," shortly before his big break. In 1989, Sledge earned the Rhythm and Blues Foundation’s Career Achievement Award and in 2005, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.
  20. This is interesting. I'm wondering if he's just following the code, is scared for his life, and/or realizes that he stirred up some trouble and that nothing will bring back his friend. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Suge Knight’s Victim Reportedly Doesn’t Want To ‘Snitch’3.6k91030NewsBy: VIBE / April 13, 2015Snitches get stitches. And even when you don’t snitch, you get run over. The victim of Suge Knight’s hit-and-run incident has some insane loyalty. To whom however, is not clear. Apparently Cle “Bone” Sloan – yes, the man who was brutally injured by Suge and his truck – refused to snitch in court according to ABC 7 Los Angeles. In a touching (and confusing) testimony earlier this morning (Apr. 13), a teary-eyed Bone claimed he “doesn’t want to be used to send this man to prison.” “Every day, I tried to forget it,” he added. “I just know, I screwed up, and Terry’s dead.” SEE ALSO: Suge Knight Passes Out In Court Room After Judge Hands Down $25 Million Bond Bone apparently tried to take the weight off of Suge for the death of his other victim, Terry Carter, and refused to help prosecutors. One might think that someone who was in the hospital with two fractured ankles, torn ligaments in both knees, and a shoulder injury would take the stand and demand some justice. Either we all need to take a moment and witness this undying loyalty (no pun intended), or we need to take a moment to rewind those surveillance tapes. Prayers up for Terry Carter and his family. – Olivia Jade Khoury
  21. My heart broke when Mariah's last album didn't sell well. To me, it was her best album since The Emancipation of Mimi, which was her best album since Butterfly. It has a perfect mix of R&B, Soul, and Hip-Hop with pop sensibilities to it. It even had a club song and a gospel song. Classic Mariah. I don't think the explicit lyrics sticker helped because no one things of Mariah have having that sticker on her albums. If you haven't checked that album and have been pleased with most of her previous stuff, do yourself a favor and check it out. Anyways, the this tracklisting is a little risky. All the die-hard fans have all of these songs but the new one. Her 1998 #1's album had most of these songs on it with 4 new song or alternate versions. She also released two double disc Greatest Hits and Essentials albums, so this doesn't have much to offer. I love her as a singer/songwriter, so I'll still get the album instead of just downloading the new song. "Someday" is one of my all time favs. It's the song that made me fall in love with her. I'm kinda annoyed that they put the inferior version from her MTV Unplugged performance. She's catching heat for the album cover since she's photo shopped. Part of me says thinks "get over it, critics." Another part of me thinks "Mariah, you've had twins and you're not 20 anymore. We understand." Anyway, are there any Mariah fans left on the board? Thoughts on her last album and/or this new collection?
  22. Due May 18 on Epic Records / Columbia Records/Sony Legacy, Infinity reunites Carey with Epic chairman-CEO Antonio "L.A." Carey is also expected to host a kick-off event for her upcoming Caesars Palace residency in Las Vegas on April 27, with more details to be announced shortly. Mariah Carey Reveals Cover Art for '#1 To Infinity' Album "I couldn't be more thrilled to be back together again with Mariah," says Reid in a statement. 23. Yeah, I get the impression that the crew is really supportive of his music and that it let to this intimate performance. The fact that Jazzy showed up for it even though it wasn't a huge show is dope. He seems to be getting into Lost + Found mode, which is a great thing...except with Jeff involved, it's an even better thing.
  24. New rhymes! I was so happy that I didn't even notice that is was over "Clique", which is a song I despise...lol That says something.
