  1. Obviously...how many songs do u know word 4 word by artists u don't like. Remember, 2Pac came up in the late 80's and mostly early 90's as a roadie for Digital Underground and then joined the group. 2Pac waz down with that whole golden age of Hip-Hop...YEARS b4 the The Chronic influended nearly every artist 2 change their game and make all new artists sell out themselves.
  2. Yeah, i really like club music. These days it only exists in remixes of popular songs. Other than that, it's all underground. The 90's were great for mainstream club music. I really miss that.
  3. That's cool, i'll have 2 pick that up. Here in the US, Everything But The Girl were basically one-hit wonders. Their mid-90's song "Missing You" or whatever is dope. I love that song...they had some minor hits after that, but they were pretty much wiped off the face of the earth according 2 the US after that.
  4. Good luck!! There aren't really many FP/WS posters. Your best bet is 2 check out teen aimed magazines from 97-99. And most of those will be cheezy candids w/ logos all over them.
  5. I have a friend who is fine in front of a crowd but she can't sing in front of people. We kinda work as a team kinda often so i'm gonna try 2 get her in2 a show where she's gonna sing. I used 2 never singer, but i've learned alot and there are alot of things i can sing now and i do it all the time. She has a better voice than i have and she's scared 2 death.
  6. And while we are on the topic...thank u so much 4 doing that. U always seem 2 bring the newz that nobody else brings and i think i speak 4 all of us when i say it's greatly appreciated!!
  7. In the sense that they were put out there 2 making them look bad and draw attention 2 it...yes.
  8. Here's and article from AOL which talkes about Kanye's amazing 10 nominations (that should shut him out about the AMA's). It also talks about the other artists nominated and a list of all the main categories. It looks like they chose some great artists overall. The Hip-Hop and categories are great. The only ones i'd like 2 kick out are Nelly and Jay-Z. -------------------------- Kanye West Receives 10 Grammy Nominations LOS ANGELES (Dec. 7) - Producer-turned-rapper Kanye West collected a leading 10 Grammy nominations Tuesday, including album of the year, for his innovative debut, "The College Dropout." West's disc stood out in the rap landscape because of its atypical prose. It avoided the usual plotlines about sex, money and violence and touched on everything from religion to his own insecurities. The performer, who isn't afraid to sing his own praises after claiming he was "definitely robbed" when he picked up no trophies at the American Music Awards, also had a nomination for best new artist and shared a songwriting bid for song of the year with his hit "Jesus Walks." "Ten nominations, that's amazing," said West, a nominations presenter at the Music Box Theatre in Hollywood. "That's like a perfect score. I'm at a loss for words." Usher and Alicia Keys, who collaborated on the hit "My Boo," followed West with eight nominations each, including album of the year for Keys' "The Diary of Alicia Keys" and Usher's "Confessions." Ray Charles, whose posthumous duets album "Genius Loves Company," became the biggest selling album of his long career, had seven nominations including album of the year and record of the year for "Here We Go Again," sung with Norah Jones. Green Day garnered six bids for its hard-driving rock-punk album "American Idiot" which satirized culture, politics and apathy. The group was nominated for record of the year and best rock song for the title track and best rock album. Besides Charles' and Jones' "Here We Go Again" and Green Day's "American Idiot," other record of the year contenders were the mellow love song "Heaven" by Los Lonely Boys, the jumpy party song "Let's Get It Started" by the Black Eyed Peas and Usher's massive hit "Yeah!" The best new artist class spanned soul, rap, country and pop, with nominees Gretchen Wilson, country's self-proclaimed "Redneck Woman," rapper West, young soul sensation Joss Stone, Los Lonely Boys and Maroon 5. Bids for song of the year - which goes to songwriters - went to "Daughters," written and recorded by John Mayer, "If I Ain't Got You," written and recorded by Keys, "Jesus Walks," recorded by West, "Live Like You Were Dying," recorded by Tim McGraw, and "The Reason," recorded by Hoobastank. Old-school performers filled the best R&B album category with Anita Baker's "My Everything," Al Green's "I Can't Stop," and Prince's comeback "Musicology" competing against "The Diary of Alicia Keys" and Jill Scott's "Beautifully Human: Words & Sound Vol. 2." Loretta Lynn had five nominations in the country field including best country album for "Van Lear Rose" (which was produced by the White Stripes' Jack White) and two bids for best country song for "Miss Being Mrs." and "Portland Oregon." Her album competition includes McGraw for "Live Like You Were Dying," Tift Merritt for "Tambourine," Keith Urban's "Be Here" and Wilson for "Here for the Party." Half of West's 10 nominations were in the rap field, including best rap album. He competes against himself in the best rap-sung collaboration with the songs "Slow Jamz," performed along with Twista and actor-singer Jamie Foxx, and "All Falls Down," which he performed with Syleena Johnson. In the rock category, Green Day's "American Idiot" was named in the best rock album competition along with Hoobastank's "The Reason," The Killers' "Hot Fuss," Velvet Revolver's "Contraband" and "The Deliveryman" by Elvis Costello & The Imposters. Beach Boys frontman Brian Wilson's long-gestating album "Smile," which was recently released after years spent on the shelf following his emotional and mental problems, collected a bid for best pop vocal album. It competes with "Afterglow" by Sarah McLachlan, "Feels Like Home" by Jones, "Mind, Body & Soul" by Stone, and "Genius Loves Company" by Charles. Jones and Stone compete against each other again for female pop vocal performance, with Stone's "You Had Me" and Jones' "Sunrise" up against "Oceania" by Bjork, No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani's solo single "What You Waiting For?" and Sheryl Crow's cover of the Cat Stevens song "The First Cut is the Deepest." In the male pop vocal competition, Costello's cover of the Cole Porter song "Let's Misbehave" from the movie "De-Lovely" was picked along with the inspirational song "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban, John Mayer's "Daughters," Prince's "Cinnamon Girl" and Seal's "Love's Divine." Posthumous was the operative word in the best pop collaboration with vocals category. Charles competes against himself with the duets "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word" with Elton John and "Here We Go Again" with Jones. Also nominated was a cover of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" by Johnny Cash and The Clash's Joe Strummer, both deceased. The other two bids went to veterans: Stevie Wonder and Take 6 for "Moon River," and Paul McCartney and Eric Clapton for "Something" from the album "Concert for George," a tribute to the late George Harrison. The Grammys will be given out Feb. 13 in Los Angeles during a broadcast on CBS. 9. LMNT - Forgot To Forget This is an R-N-B/Pop song i accidently stumbled on by a pop group from 2002. I love this song so much.
  10. willjadafan usually updates us on this stuff. If she hasn't posted it, then it won't be anytime soon.
  11. That's a silly ?uestion. "Girls Ain't Nothing Trouble" waz intended 2 be a big single and it waz their big break. "Guys Ain't Nothing But Trouble" waz the 5th single from Rock The House and waz released promotionally 4 DJs 2 play in clubs and on the radio. It waz put out 2 keep the word of JJ+FP out there but it waz never intended 2 be a HUGE single or anything. I'm truely struggling 2 understand why this waz asked.
  12. I can't agree. They were said in totally differenet lights. There waz nothing about what FP said...but KRS-One's comment waz disrespectful. He's an incredible artist and a very intellegent person...but in that statement, he waz just wrong.
  13. I lost my mind when they 1st showed this. I think i 1st saw it on the Kenan Ivory Waynes Show when Jada waz on it. I didn't check the video since i've seen it b4. I know there is a version of this online taken from the KIW Show. I waz wondering if this is that version cuz if it isn't and might be longer than the clip i've seen and have on tape, i'd wanna check it out.
  14. That waz real nice of u. I've already listened 2 it a few times this holiday season.
  15. ALICIA KEYS - Karma It's beautiful seeing someone who not only has the talent 2 deserve the the success they recieve, but also are good people. I just saw her on BET talking about some of the charities she is involved in.
  16. Welcome the board!!! This is the real place 2 be for a real JJ+FP fan.
  17. Yeah, i misunderstood it when i 1st read it.
  18. Yeah, it's not a JJ+FP song. I never heard the song becuz someone who knew what they were talking about it gave it a listen and they said it waz an Eazy-E song (cuz JJ+FP and Eazy-E sound so alike :nhawong:). When Napster waz huge, some fool put it up there and called it a JJ+FP song. It's funny how that snowballed and websites still have that on it.
  19. I know Da Brakes performs from tyme 2 tyme and in the past we've had other emcees, singers, or actors post on various JJ+FP/WS boards. I have a show going up this weekend and it made me wonder how many other performers visit this board, what they do, their views on an audience, and what kinda things they do 2 prepare 4 performances. This week i've been very busy with rehearsals and taking somethings in2 my own hands when it comes 2 the tech side of my show, costuming, and adding flava 2 the show. We are opening up a play called The Skin of Our Teeth which is a 3-Act show about how the human race overcomes struggle. At the very end of last week, i went 2 a radio station with 2 of my cast members (and friends) 2 record voice overs 4 a radio advertisement airing on our local Hip-Hop/R-N-B station (which is kinda funny since i don't think it'll be being heard by the right audience. It's apparently airing on other stations tho.' 2day i had 2 meet with the local news paper for a photo shoot and interviews. Alot of places i go 2 have posters 4 the show up as well. The rest of the week i've requested off work so i can keep working with the script and polishing my part up. I also try 2 keep a small workout going 2 keep my body active in hopes of keeping it releaxed when the show is going on. I just can't wait 2 get out in front of an audience cuz that's where all the magic happens. When i focused on music more, i used 2 perform where i knew there would be an open mic. I would just do a very laidback song or 2 with no real preperation. However, doing music is usually much more fun 2 do in front of people. Anyways, let me hear from whoever else who is a performer. I'm just interested in hearing what other artistic people here do and their experiences. If there is a reply or 2 or an interest in this topic, i'll share some amusing stories. If u are an emcee, singer, actor, or dancer...let it be known.
  20. Same here...especially the 1st half. I plan on making my 1990 list sometime very soon.
  21. Here we go again...CLASSIC? Puh-leeze!! The term "classic" can only apply 2 something that is not only good music and loved by millions, but loved by millions 4 years 2 come. U wanna hear a real classic, come over 2 my crib right now, i got Run-DMC's "Raising Hell" on.
  22. lambert....how many people do u know who listen 2 Emiem also say people like Rakim and KRS-One are the personification of Hip-Hop (cuz they are...that's not opinion, it's fact). Most likely none...the majority of Eminem fans don't even know who they are. U know why, cuz they weren't old enuff 2 know about Hip-Hop when their music waz at the top. U can't compare Eminem's music 2 Rakim's...they aren't similar at all. People who listen 2 quality music like De La Soul's aren't buying Eminem's newer albums. Everyone has their own opinion on music. There's nothing wrong with that, but quit trying 2 prove that his music is relevant or comparable 2 that of Hip-Hop's greatest. That's just stupid. I like Fan_3's stuff that i've heard so far...creative lyrics, crazy beats, just the kinda stuff i really like. But never will i be comparing her 2 Run-DMC. Her biggest fan (if they would have a knowlege of true Hip-Hop) would never do that. How u gonna say Eminem is simply that good. Early in Eminem's career, lots of my friends liked his music. Now none of my friends who are true-skool Hip-Hop heads feel that way. The only ones that still do buy his new albums are my 20 year old friend who only listens 2 Top 40 radio and one of my co-workers who practices witchcraft, trys 2 be goth, but talks like a valley girl.
  23. Yeah, i don't think their is anyway 2 avoid JJ+FP, but i don't want their music videos, it just dosen't make sense. I'd like them 2 have a feature on JJ+FP, but not music videos and stuff like that. I really hope that they put that 100 Episode special during the 5th season (or whatever season it went on). If the DVD sets of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air do well enuff, it'll increase the chance more bonuses on future releases AND maybe even push Jive 2 re-release their music videos.
  24. HA HA!!! My dad used 2 listen 2 Air Supply in the 80's!! Right now i'm listening 2 "Brand New Funk" of this 1996 compilation CD i have called History of Rap: Volume 2. It's 10 trax of old skool goodness... TONE LOC: Funky Cold Medina LL COOL J: I'm Bad TOO SHORT: Short But Funky ERIC B. + RAKIM: Mictrophone Fiend DJ JAZZY JEFF + FRESH PRINCE: Brand New Funk SALT 'N PEPA: Push It (Remix) KID 'N' PLAY: Do This My Way ULTRAMAGNETIC MC'S: Ease Back STETSASONIC: Sally KING SUN: Hey Love
  25. I waz listening 2 their album last nite. When u haven't heard the songs in a long time, u'd think they sound the same...but most of the songs stand on their own. I waz listening 2 it and it just took me back 2 the time when u could catch their stuf on the radio. I wonder what Technotronic would sould like if they were still making music. I kinda miss Hip-Hop club music. They should be remixing todays biggest Hip-Hop hits in2 club versions.
