I've just heard 2Pac's new single "Ghetto Gospel." I love this track. Totally postive (and clean)...not a sign of his Deathrow era stuff on this joint. The vocals are from about 1993. The beat is pretty good but nothing mind-blowing. Eminem produced it. Don't ask me why they would go 2 him when there are much more talented and experienced producers out there. It's not bad tho' and he uses this amazing vocal and piano sample from Elton John's "Indian Sunset." Very much like what he did with "Runnin' (Dying To Live)." Creative? No. Good? Yes! For those that don't know, the new album is titled Loyal 2 The Game. Eminem produced the whole album, which bothers me. While 2Pac affiliates like The Outlawz and Nate Dogg are on the album...sadly, Eminem has brought his wack friends 2 put them on the album (himself, G-Unit, Obie Trice). I'm hoping his production and guest artists don't ruin 2Pac's legacy. The good newz is that there 4 or 5 remixes at the end of the album by other people like DJ Quik and Raphael Saddiq who remixed the trax, and probably fixed the wrongs that Eminem may have commited with this legendary artist's music. The cover is very cool. 2Pac from the Me Against The World era w/ gold glasses and white clothes. The style of the album is much like the most recently released 2Pac albums. Oh yeah, and it drops December 14th!!

Welcome 2 the board!! I remember this visual 2 this. FP is rockin' a hat 2 the side dumb dancin' like crazy...but the funniest thing is Jazzy. His body is really still behind those drums, but as u can hear, he's beatin' the crap outta them. The drumming is totally made up, but FP is screaming a song by Technotronic called "Get Up! (Before The Night Is Over)." Technotronic is known best for their song "Pump Up The Jam." They were a fly Hip-Hop meets Club music, meets R-N-B group from the late 80's/early 90's. Ya Kid K waz the emcee of the group who also rapped on the Hi-Tek 3 track on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles soundtrack on the song "Spin That Wheele" and she also released a solo album in about 1992ish.

DJ JAZZY JEFF + FRESH PRINCE - Boom! Shake The Room (Block Party Mix) "Eminem" and "classic" in the same sentence...something ain't right there. Boogie Down Productions, Eric B. + Rakim, A Tribe Called Quest, and Brand Nubian might have something 2 say about that.

Most underrated/overrated Will song
JumpinJack AJ replied to Lerkot's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Jay-Z had nuttin' 2 do with "Just Cruisin.'" FP and Nas wrote that song, which he is credited for. FP even talked about it in The Source, he wazn't trying 2 keep it secret ghostwriter style. "The Rain" is amazing tho.' JJ+FP fans don't underrate it, and i think if it waz a single, NOBODY would underrate it. Well maybe all the people who bought Encore. -
When u are a very sucessful artist, Colubia lets u do what u want. When u are not in the top 10, they control alot of things. Look at Big Willie Style. They pushed for what singles were chosen and how it waz promoted, which worked 4 the time. With Willennium, JJ+FP had lots of control over the album (obviously, it waz dope and they were executive producers). Columbia just handeled promotion, which is what makes dope albums misinterperted by the publice and earning it sales that could have been bigger.

Its something crazy with the Miami...
JumpinJack AJ replied to Lerkot's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
U are probably talking about Jason Nevins' South Beach Dub. There's and actual remix (not Dub) with the full verses and not just vocal samples. While the beats a similar, the South Beach Dub is actually a lil' better than the one used 4 the remix. -
I think i know when switch will get released
JumpinJack AJ replied to Alien's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Everytime there is a musical event with an disclosed appearance by an artist, someone makes a post thinking it's gonna be FP premiering "Switch." I think we should stop guessing with stuff like that cuz it's probably not gonna happen. I have a feeling FP isn't gonna try 2 catch us off-guard. -
LFO has nothing 2 do with the point i'm trying 2 make. I'm saying, why listen 2 an artist when u gotta complain about them...that's silly. I don't like 2 defend the music i listen 2, so i think it's funny 4 someone 2 say they are listening 2 an artist but then saying how they used 2 be talented.

Its something crazy with the Miami...
JumpinJack AJ replied to Lerkot's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I always thought "Miami" waz the weakest track on BWS and one of the weakest songs he's ever done. I waz amazed and disappointed when i 1st saw the video since there were so many other songs on that album. Remember Columbia wanted 2 keep outting out that jiggy Trackmasters stuff. The 'Miami Mix' is the best version of it...alot more energy 2 it and better production (by the legendary Miami Sound Machine). There's also a club remix of it which is very much your basic club mix. -
I agree totally. They should have stuck 2 the original plan of releasing "Afro Angel" as a single. The production is flawless and very musical (not your average boom tap boom boom tap). When an artist like FP makes a song like that, that really means something, they usually do well. That song waz exactly what he career needed at the time (and still could use).

Stop complaining about artists who might have some talent like 50 Cent or Eminem but don't show any proof that they really have any. Why not listen 2 artists who have talent 2 spare and show it on a regular basis. BLACK EYED PEAS - Fly Away

U can't release singles intended 4 a smaller audience without a bigger single 2 serve as the A-side gaining more success. "Will 2K" did well but waz too time sensitive, "So Fresh" waz 4 the old skool fans, it didn't get play or support, "Freakin' It" didn't get play or support either. The media and Big Willie Style fans totally turned their back on him. Unless he waz releasing on of the top 3 songs on the album as a single, it waz wise 2 just let it go.

Arrested Development makes music for the mind, body, and soul. They are one of the best things 2 happen 2 Hip-Hop in the '90's. I personally think they are just as important as Public Enemy, but without the "in-your-face" factor.
-
I don't think "Uuhhh" would have been a good choice. It's 2 straight forward...not exactly a promoting-monster of a song. The people that buy albums 2 make them successes probably wouldn't be feelin' it.

Eminem "Encore" Ja Rule "R.U.L.E" The Comparsion
JumpinJack AJ replied to J-o-e's topic in Caught in the Middle
No, they weren't edited copies. I waz at a store where music buffs go...i've never seen anyone under the age of 18 in that place. Then again, i'd assume that people who actually think Ja-Rule is talented would also be stupid enuff 2 accidentally buy an edited version of a CD. (No offense Ja fans) -
Here are their individual websites. I checked a song on Ladybug's site and it's dope. Here they are... BUTTAFLY www.cherrwine.net DOODLEBUG www.ceeknowledge.com LADYBUG www.ladybugmecca.com

Eminem "Encore" Ja Rule "R.U.L.E" The Comparsion
JumpinJack AJ replied to J-o-e's topic in Caught in the Middle
I waz in a music store 2day which has a section with previously owned stuff. They already had like 3 copies of Ja-Rule's new album. That's really sad if u find a brand new album in the previously owned section. On a JJ+FP related note, they had a copy of BWS, Willennium, and Code Red for $1.99 each and 2 copies of B2R for $4.99. It waz tempting 2 buy copies for my car (even tho' i have burned copies 4 the car). Maybe next time.
