  1. Don't spit on Hip-Hop's name by calling them Hip-Hop albums. They are Rap...just Rap. They aren't puttin' anything from real Hip-Hop culture in2 their music.
  2. If i get some free time 2nite, i'll try 2 post related links on the group.
  3. 2gether they are gonna create masterpeices...mark my words!! Where'd u get this info from?
  4. That's debatable. I wouldn't consider that a rock/rap song tho.' "Black Suits Comin'" is the only rock/rap track he's ever really done. "Will 2K' is a party track.
  5. I freaked when i read this!! I waz on a Digable Planets trip and waz looking up info on them 2nite. Hip-Hop heads will remember them from their 2 classic album "Reachin'" and "Blowout Comb." They are best known for their debut single "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like That)." They were one of the most creative and talented Hip-Hop acts of the 90's, mixing Hip-Hop, with Jazz and poetic rhyme schemes. Anyways, while i waz turned off by Ishmal's Cherry Wine "Bright Black" (which wazn't so bad last time i listened 2 it in stores), i found out Doodlebug changed his stage name 2 Cee Knowledge and released a solo album in Philly featuring a track with Mecca aka Ladybug (of DP). Well, while i waz on his site, i waz reading news that Digable Planets reunited for the 1st time in 9 years 2 perform a show and are thinkin' about more touring and a 3rd album!! First the Fugees and now Digable Planets...Hip-Hop dose have a chance!!!
  6. I waz goin' thru' my club music 2nite and i've been listening 2 C + C Music Facotry the last hour or so. I waz wondering if anyone rememebers them. I'm sure the 20-somethings have something 2 say about them since they were EVERYWHERE in the early 90's. Robert Clivilles and David Cole masterminded the sound my melding Club, Techno, Hip-Hop, Soul, with a dash of Pop and Rock. Street rapper Freedom and R-N-B/Dance singer Zelma Davis (along with the legendary Martha Wash) provided as the perfect vocalist 2 propel the group 2 superstardom dropping hit's like Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now), Here We Go, Things That Make You Go Hmmmmmm.., Just A Touch of Love and then regrouping in the mid-90's for their 2nd album with the hits Do You Wanna Get Funky and I Found Love. I wish their waz club music like this these days...i just think they were amazing. David Cole died in the mid-90's after some spinal disease. Robbi-Rob kept pushing on by producing 4 others but never got the C + C name off the ground with yet another line up. Freedom dropped a solo album which wazn't that great and flooped, he then shaved his head and went back 2 his original hood 2 regroup and do underground Hip-Hop again, Zelma struggled 2 release a solo album 4 years which ultimatly didn't cause and hype. Robbie-Rob did get out that MVP album which got some decent success last year and produced for Stagga-Lee but politics kept his album from coming out as well. Anyways, back 2 the good old days. Who waz down with C + C Music Factory back in the day?!
  7. I'll give anything a listen but Ja-Rule and Eminem have just proven themselves over and over again 2 be jokes 2 me. Eminem waz an edgy, creative, witty emcee in the late 90's but since then his music has been on a downward spiral down the garbage disposal. His 2 newest singles didn't impress me at all. Ja-Rule had some gritty hype about him which waz gone the second he released "Holla Holla." He did a few good remixes and singles early in his career but overall his music has been insanely uncreative and disposable. It's easy 2 4get nearly every single he's released. I'll give them a listen in a record store sometime soon, but Ja-Rule and Eminem have nothing 2 do with true Hip-Hop. That's what De La Soul, Talib Kweli, Lifesavas, Mos Def, Shock G, and KRS-One are for.
  8. I waz amazed that they could put an album 2gether this ill without big label support. Usually not being commercial and on a big label dose effect the music no matter how talented u are...but there's no signs of that here. I love albums where u can listen 2 them the whole way thru' that have rhymes that actually make u think and not make u feel like crap when u are don't listening 2 them. As i waz listening 2 it, it waz like i waz in a time warp, it waz like these guys continued making quality music from the mid-90's and that the mainstream scene of Hip-Hop/Rap waz never effected by the rise of Bad Boy Records, Nelly, Ja-Rule, Jay-Z, G-Unit, Ludacris, Chingy stuff. Hip-Hop heads should all get this album, just take our words for it. If u are newer 2 Hip-Hop, then give this album a listen and hear what's not getting played, but what it's relaly all about.
  9. I've found that Search Engines always taking whatever u put in them and make it sound like whatever u type in is really popular. He hasn't done anything in ages. He had that TV show in about 2000 which flopped and since then i've only seen him doing commentary on VH-1 specials like I Love The 90's.
  10. Yeah, i guess if it comes from a company that isn't located in the US, the same laws don't apply so they have more freedom with how they distribute stuff. That's a good thing 2 keep in mind when ordering stuff online.
  11. No more rock stuff from FP!! It just doesn't sound right. "Black Suits Comin'" waz enuff. I don't wanna see any Jay-Z poppin' up on the album either. Him and FP stand 4 2 different things and it just wouldn't make sense. Usher would be great tho.' No offense 2 Justin Timberlake, but i don't think anyone would perfer him over Usher. It's sad that they put them in the same category cuz they couldn't be more different (like FP and Jay-Z). I welcome a colabo with a new skool artist, but only if they have real talent that can stand up next 2 FP's...Petey Pablo simply can't do it.
  12. There's really isn't any excuse 2 not pick it up unless u refuse 2 buy stuff off the internet. It's not that hard 2 find and it's got most of their classic stuff on it that u won't find anywhere else. If u are hooked on Greatest Hits, now go and look for Summertime: And Other Hits. It's all their videos up thru' "Summertime" but it has alot more behind-the-scenes stuff and interviews. Since all of it waz shot during the "Summertime" video-shoot, u get tons of candid JJ+FP and lots of early 1990's flava.
  13. All mainstream music distributers send stuff out on the day it's released. The only way u can get your hands on stuff b4 it comes out is if u get advanced promo copies from someone who got the hook up or is associated with the label/company. If any mainstream distributer of electronics sells and item b4 it's street date, they'll get fined and additional legal action could be taken. Of course, mistakes like that happen. I waz at Circuit City a month ago and they accidentally put a DVD on the shelf that wazn't supposed 2 be released for 4 more days. Also, back in 1997, i got Big Willie Style 2 days b4 it got released becuz Wal-Mart accidently put a few copies on the shelves. Basically if u ever pre-order stuff, it's a waste of time and money cuz u can go pick it up in the store on the day it's released, usually on sale and of course u don't have 2 pay shipping. Pre-ordering is only really benificial if u know u won't find certin items where u live.
  14. Back in 1999, either Usher or FP said they were gonna do a track with the other. I'm assuming that it never happened cuz i can't see either label passing up that as a single. FP waz also supposed 2 do more work with Dru Hill in 1999/2000. I wonder if any of those trax were done.
  15. Me and Tim did a music trade a few months ago and he sent me a Hip-Hop -N- Soul Mixtape he made. Most of the artists i knew of but a few of them i didn't. One of them waz a Hip-Hop group called Lifesavas. The 2 trax by them on the CD impressed me so much that i picked up the album 2day (titled "Spirit In Stone"). Anyways, all true-skool Hip-Hop heads should check it out. Their rhymes are postive, intellectual, and 4 the most part, totally tasteful (clean). The production is also flawless. These guys got skills. If u like JJ+FP, De La Soul, Talib Kweli, A Tribe Called Quest, J-Live, and other similar artists, u'll love this album. Thanx 4 skoolin' me on this group, Tim!!
  16. Yeah, there's not 2 many white female rappers out there. Back in the mid-90's, i remember that there waz a female rap duo (one of them waz black and one of them waz white). Other than that, there waz a female white rapper from 2003 called Saria or something like that. I heard one song by her and didn't really like it or hate it. I know Timbaland produced a track on it. Fan_3 however is like nothing i've ever heard.
  17. Welcome 2 the board...this is the place 2 be.
  18. Back in the mid-90's there were rumors of them being and item and even engaged...but that's not true. Check either Jada or old 2Pac interviews. 2Pac has a big mouth, it would be known if they were 2gether. Any 2Pac fan knows that. Unless u've had one of those relationships where u and someone of the oppisite sex is very close and there's no sexual tension, u wouldn't understand how a guy and girl can have a genuine friendship. Don't u think that if 2Pac and Jada has something, their friendship would have fallen apart and FP and 2Pac wouldn't have been on cool terms.
  19. Yeah, it's a remix of "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" which waz never released. Jermaine Dupri remixed it and tossed on some of Hip-Hop's, at the time, budding new talent. That remix is seriously ill...Colulmbia or So So Def need 2 come up with a reason 2 release that remix. It popped up on 2 or 3 mixtapes back in 1997/1998 and a person or 2 on this board have a download copy of it.
  20. No, her song isn't anything like Kelly Rowand's song. That song waz really serious...Fan_3's stuff is creative but really fun. There is a snippet of a more serious song on her single. It's about a family falling apart. It kinda reminds me of Eminem b4 he lost all this talent and dash of Pink. I really don't expect 2 many people on this board 2 like her...but i know some of u will. The stuff i've heard so far reminds me of Hip-Hop back when it waz alot of fun and creative. Back b4 u could spit any wack freestyle verse about nothing and and put it with 2 over wack verses and call it a song. There's all kinds of storytelling and fantasy stuff from the old skool mixed in her music and her overall message is not 2 be afraid 2 be u. Cuz what she is doing is alot bolder than anybody else is.
  21. ENCORE - My Way Home Thanx 2 Tim 4 hookin' me up with some real Hip-Hop.
  22. Her album is dropping early 2005. I wish her tons of success but it's gonna be interesting 2 see what happens. She's not the kinda artist 2 get respect from people who listen 2 only crappy commercial stuff. She's young, white, and from LA, so regular Hip-Hop heads will find it hard 2 even give her a chance. And she's way 2 Hip-Hop for pop radio...but since her music is accessable 2 pop audiences...i'll keep my fingures crossed.
  23. Yeah, i didn't hear "Family Christmas" until 1999. It waz amazing hearing a JJ+FP song 4 the 1st time 10 years after it waz recorded. It is released in the US. It's on a compilation album called Black Christmas '98.
