Favorite non violant person?
JumpinJack AJ replied to Daedalus Mortality's topic in Caught in the Middle
What are u talking about?! U sound like u been hanging out with Daedalus 2 much. ?uestioning me why i voted for Jesus is just as silly as me asking u why u voted for whoever u voted 4. There's no "Christian extremism" on this board. 2 me, that just sounds like a term invented by people who aren't Christians just trying a lable something 2 make it sound bad just cuz they don't believe in it. -

Born To Reign... Underrated
JumpinJack AJ replied to Silver Tiger's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Born To Reign is a good album. I like the way FP experimented with it. No other emcee has drifted in that style of Hip-Hop. I think some of the trax are classic...such as Block Party, How Da Beat Goes, Act Like You Know, and Give Me Tonite. My only problem with it is that it dosen't flow that great. Maybe and Momma Knows, I can't Stop, Act Like You Know are different in wayz that keeps them from making the album flow. On their own, none of the trax are bad. I'm rarely in the mood 2 listen 2 "Willow Is A Player"...but it's a funny song. "Maybe" is kinda boring, but the lyrics are poetic, which i think is very cool. My only real complaint is that "Black Suits Comin'" and "Nod Ya Head" mess up the album. With the other albums, they at least put those trax at the end of the album...but they put "BSC" right in a the middle AND put the remix on it...WACK!! I think Born To Reign is a dope album, i'm just not alwasy in the mood 4 it. Summertime is the ideal tyme 2 vibe with it in my opinion. -
Born To Reign waz a flop becuz of sales. It's sales were terrible. People's opinion of the music has nothing 2 do with it being a flop.

Here the lyrics that i found off a site...not sure if they are totally correct tho'...i don't think they are, but the next time i have the CD in this room i'll check. USHER + ALICIA KEYS "MY BOO" Usher There's always that one person that will always have your heart You never see it coming cause you're blinded from the start Know that you're that one for me, it's clear for everyone to see Ooh baby, you will always be my boo Alicia Keys I don't know about y'all but I know about us and uhh it's the only way we know how to rock (repeat) Usher Verse Do you remember girl, who was he one who gave you your first kiss Cause I remember girl who was the one who said put your lips like this Even before all the fame and people screaming your name Girl I was there and you were my baby Chorus: Usher It started when we were younger and you were mine (my boo) Now another brothers' taken over but its' still in your eyes (my boo) Even though we use to argue it's alright (it's alright girl, that's okay) And if we haven't seen each other in a while, but you will always be my boo Alicia Now if you loved when we were younger you were mine And when I see from time to time I still feel like, (that's my baby) And if I see you no matter how I try to hide (I can't hide it) And even though there's another man who's in my life, you will always be my boo Alicia Verse Yes I remember boy, cause after we kissed I could only think about your lips Yes I remember boy, the moment I knew you were the one I could spend my life with Even before all the fame and people screaming your name I was there and you were my baby Chorus: Usher It started when we were younger and you were mine (my boo) Now another brothers' taken over but its' still in your eyes (my boo) Even though we use to argue it's alright (it's alright girl, that's okay) And if we haven't seen each other in a while, but you will always be my boo Bridge My ooh my ohh my ohh my ohh my boo (repeat) Chorus: Usher It started when we were younger and you were mine (my boo) Now another brothers' taken over but its' still in your eyes (my boo) Even though we use to argue it's alright (it's alright girl, that's okay) And if we haven't seen each other in a while, but you will always be my boo Alicia I don't know about y'all but I know about us and uhh it's the only way we know how to rock (repeat)

Man, if i had that much money and knew i waz gonna die in 24 hours, i'd just give it 2 friends and family...then donate the rest 2 certain charities.

Same here. It's definitly a collectors item 4 Hip-Hop heads. Not 2 mention the music itself. -
Nobody really took on 2Pac. They heard "Hit 'Em Up" and didn't wanna be tore 2 shreads like Biggie and Bad Boys waz. B.I.G. did have a line on some song my friend had which cracked me up saying something like "if Faith is pregnant, it's probably 2Pac's". Mobb Deep is crap 2 me. After 2Pac pass, they recorded lyrics and videos that were taking shots at him. Talk about wack, they pansy butts kept their mouth shut when he waz alive...but AFTER he gets killed they take cheap shots at him. That's the personification of cowardism. Fugees never retaliated...none of stuff dissing them waz released b4 he died. Jay-Z never said anything 2 him either.

:offtopic: I'm gettin' rid of this post in a few hours!!

I'm not calling Nas a coward. I'm just saying that in recent years he's been working off 2Pac's music ("Thugs Mansion" for instance). They could have had Snoop Dogg, MC Hammer, Shock G, Richie Rich, or Ray Luv perform...someone who waz actually close 2 him. Nas even messed up the lyrics more than once. I'm not dissing him, i'm just dissapointed.

U are kidding right? Crap dose sell. De La Soul, Brand Nubian, and Talib Kweli dropped albums in the last the last few months. They aren't number one on the charts but make quality music. The production isn't light weight commercial stuff, the lyrics are creative, focused, and meaningful. Now, lets look at the charts....hmmm....we see people like Nelly. Nope, not any talent in site there. I think rubbish dose sell. That might have been the stupidest thing u've ever said. U may have a difference of opinion, but don't be ignorant about stuff like this.

I'm listening 2 an A Touch of Jazz CD i made featuring Kenny Lattimore, Tatyana Ali, Jill Scott, Musiq, Glenn Lewis, Michael Jackson, Floetry, Mariah Carey, Dwele, V, Erro, Jazzanova, and more.

I think Lloyd Banks sux...but i heard a beat or 2 on his album that isn't bad. FP isn't gonna take a wack beat 2 put on his album tho'. No worries there. Kwame isn't gonna give them the same kinda trax...that'd be silly. Interscope has nothing 2 do with this project. FP and Overbrook put the album 2gether...Interscope is only helping get the album out 2 stores and maybe some financial backing. They have nothing 2 do with the music or album really.

I'm just saying...i don't like cussing. I'm not saying u have 2 agree with me, but i just turn my ears off usually when i hear someone overdoing it. Cussing dosen't convey any intellectual ideas that u can't do without cussing. 2 me, i see it as a reflection of the respect they have 4 themselves and others. I'll side with FP's grandmother and say intellegent people don't need 2 use words like that. 2Pac is one of my favorite emcees but he has 2 sides and 2 different styles. One of them is much more introspective and deep (Keep Ya Head Up, Baby Don't Cry, Me Against The World, So Many Tears, etc) and his filler-Deathrow trax which aren't a proper repersentation of his music. 2Pac's best music uses considerablly less cussing if any at all. I don't visit the Numero Uno board often so i'm not talking anyones skills or lack of skills in this post. If u are offended by my post, then u might fall in2 the catagory that i refuse 2 give props 2. Let's get back on topic now...shall we? -

It's funny cuz it's not THAT rare. It is...but u'll see it on ebay every once in awhile. This is the original version with the less-polished production and rawwer lyrics (and alternate lyrics). The Def Beat is a harder, DJ-friendly version. -
Man, i really wanna see Taxi. I'm gonna see it after a wrap my show this weekend. I think Jimmy Fallon is wack...period. I just think he is one of the most unfunny people in the bizness. SNL itself hasn't been funny for YEARS. I am seeing the movie for more than Latifah tho'...i love her but i think the movie dose look funny overall. I also wanna see I Heart Huckabees. I guess i'll see any movie that has one of my favorite emcees in it. I hope Shark Tale stays in theaters tho' cuz i'd like 2 see it again...just not quite yet.

I'm not following all this Presidential stuff tho' i have my opinions from the things i have heard and read. This post isn't meant 2 spark a fight (tho' i hardly care if it dose), but here is an e-mail that i wanted 2 share. I think it's really interesting. Sure, it may be compiled 2 support one side...but it's buildt up by quotes from the opposing side. Check it... ---------------------------------------------------------------- Here is something else that might be of interest ... (By the way, did you read in today's news that they are uncovering mass graves in Iraq with women and children who were shot in the back of their heads?) if you didn’t read it, here is the link http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/10/13/...aves/index.html "One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." - President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998 "If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program." - President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998 Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face." - Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998 "He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983." - Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb 18,1998 "[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the US Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." - Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens. Carl Levin (D-MI), Tom Daschle (D-SD), John Kerry (D - MA), and others Oct. 9,1998 "Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." - Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998 "Hussein has . chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies." >- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999 "There is no doubt that .. Saddam Hussein has invigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies." - Letter to President Bush, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,) and others, December 5, 2001 "We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandated of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them." - Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002 "We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 "Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 "We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002 "The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..." - Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002 "I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force-- if necessary-- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9,2002 "There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years .. We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002 "He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do" - Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002 "In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members.. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons." - Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002 "We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002 "Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime .. He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction . So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real" - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003 SO NOW EVERY ONE OF THESE PEOPLE SAY PRESIDENT BUSH LIED--THAT THERE NEVER WERE ANY WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION AND HE TOOK US TO WAR UNNECESSARILY! Send this to everybody you know..The media and networks won't do it. Why do you suppose that is?

Well, it's slang...and slang isn't really bad or good...it just "is." I personally don't use the word but the term is nearly 10 years old. It's nothing new. The 1st time it waz used in a real commercial way waz the Ghostown DJ's huge 1996 bass/r-n-b hit "My Boo" off the So So Def Bass All-Stars album (dope album by the way). America is Hip-Hop's home so u can't expect anything less than having American slang and concepts all over most of it.
-
I caught the end of "Lean Back"...that's where i popped in. I thought it sucked. Song has a decent beat but nothing less 2 offer. I don't think Fat Joe is bad tho'...he's got some good stuff out. I think the 2nd half of PE's performance waz really crazy. He did kinda drown in everything that waz going on. But it waz dope...it waz like a 3 ring circus on stage...u didn't know what 2 watch.

I waz just talkin' about this board since i'm the moderator. However, whenever i see freestyles loaded down with cussin'...i just don't pay attention 2 them. Intellegent people know how 2 convey ideas without using words like that. By the 2nd or 3rd cuz word, i just ignore 'em. I have better things 2 do than read crap. Tim himself wants the boards 2 remain respectful. If u look at other Hip-Hop/Rap boards, they are often used by people who say nasty stuff and cuss up a storm. I don't think anyone here wants the boards 2 go that way. -

JumpinJack AJ replied to Doubler706's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Yep! That's it, the original release. August 1986 baby!! -
I waz at work when it 1st aired but i'm watching the rerun right now. I didn't cut in until right before Public Enemy. That waz amazing. Did u see how they rocked that!?!?! Chuck D is over 40 years old and he's rockin' the mic and runnin' all over the stage!! U don't see Nelly and 50 Cent doin' that. They untalented butts just stand on the stage. The fellaz totally put on a show. CRAZY ENERGY!! I thought it waz cool that when MC Hammer recited a verse from "Unconditional Love" (one of 2Pac's best songs). However, i think Hammer should have performed "Keep Ya Head Up." 2Pac waz knockin' Nas during the East Coast/West Coast feud but Nas always played it off like they were cool (did he not hear 2Pac's music and freestyles?!). Nas messed up the words and even tho' it's a slower song, he waz outta breath by the last verse. MC Hammer repersents the same community 2Pac came up in as a teenager and they were cool. In fact they also performed 2gether at one of Deathrow's events that gave props 2 mothers where they performed live for mother in in Cali. VH-1 shortly presented 2Pac's legacy better than MTV would have. They didn't focus strictly on the Deathrow era like some tributes do. MC Lyte looked great even tho' i only saw her bridging the show 2 commercials. "Rapper's Delight" waz amazing. It started off with The Chic "Goodtimes" (once remixed by DJ Jazzy Jeff + ATOJ...and sampled for "It's All Good"). Then Sugarhill Gang took the stage and didn't show a sign of slowing down. It looked like they had been performing the song non-stop since 1979. Then MC Hammer comes out rocking a bright yellow shirt, jacket and bandana w/ jeans and shades. He just fused some old skool dances and new skool dances 2gether and outshined the fly girls behind him. The camera shots kept switching, but waz did i see LL on stage near the end? (Was he there?). I think i saw DMC 2 but with all that shot flashing...who knows. There waz no lacking of energy and smiles at all. Simply amazing. The great thing 2 hear waz that they are gonna make it an annual event!! From what i saw, i waz just happy 2 see old skool artists and people with talent getting 2 put it on stage for millions 2 see. With a special like this, maybe Hip-Hop dose have a chance. I mean, how can somone like that keep themselves ignorant and only listen 2 the new skool trash?? Can't wait 2 see the whole thing when it reruns again. JJ+FP better be on there next year!!
