Man, they are just 2 different 2 compare. I hated Vanilla Ice when he 1st came out...never liked him. I just thought he waz an M.C. Hammer wanna-be who tried 2 hard. His 2nd album waz totally overlooked, but i gave it a listen and got mad cuz he actually had a few good beats on it...but he waz the one rapping over them. I watched him on the Surreal Life a few times and thought he waz actually kinda cool...ha ha....but that has nothing 2 do with his music. Master P i always thought waz wack as well. I just think that the No Limit sound (when they were big and now) is just awful...empty beats that sound like 8 year olds put 2gether. And other than Snoop Dogg, none of the rappers on the label could barely speak a word of comprehesable english...just moaning and screaming in their music. I think in recent years, Master P has relaxed a bit and that his current wack music isn't as wack as his really popular late-90's wack music. Either way, i don't like music by either of these guys.

I also got the DVD but i havn't watched it yet. Since it wazn't shown here where i live...i had 2 get it when it 1st dropped. I can't wait 2 watch it. The reason this one is probably the best is cuz 2Pac's camp backed it up officialy.

Yes, Will smacked that fool and put him in his place. It happened back in 1995 during the Bad Boys era. I have the Inside Edition or Hard Copy feature on this event and it's hilarious. It waz a set up....one guy kept taking pictures and ignoring Will's nice requests to leave them alone and stop taking pictures...the other guy followed them from a distance video taping the whole thing trying 2 see what they could get. After the guy followed him 2 the car and kept taking pictures, Will smacked the guy upside the head...it's great. I could watch that thing looped for 3 hours....ha ha. This didn't hurt Will's career at all and infact, most people don't even know about it. Of course if they did, they wouldn't blame him. As somebody who has seen the video, let me assure that Will should have beat the guy down minutes b4 he smacked him upside the head.

That waz the 1st break we read in Will's departure from Columbia. It's not accurate tho'....like posted above, Columbia and Will weren't happy with each other. That's why the crappy Greatest Hits album waz put out...2 fulfill their contract and have no legal problems. This article came out 2 Januarys ago. That article is garbage tho'...what ever Sony PR said that is full of crap, yet it shows how Columbia is. That say he dosen't appeal 2 kids...well, who said Will ever wanted 2 appeal 2 kids. Will isn't making kids music here...just cuz he makes respectable music without cussing and gritty details about the darker things in life dosen't mean he's making music 4 children. Will just makes music cuz he loves it and dosen't discriminate 2 who can relate 2 it. Columbia has turned in2 a label where your talent means nothing, your creative mind means nothing, your art means nothing...only your ability 2 make them money on your own means something 2 them. The second u have a success-lacking video/single, etc....they ignore u until u fall off the label. Will is a multi-faced artist who can do something simple yet deep like "The Rain"...then do a radio-friendly dance track like "Miami." If somebody thinks Will's music career starts with "Men In Black" and ends with "Miami" then they are fools who fell in 2 Columbia's plan of making Will the ultimate, non-threatening, un-creative rapper ever. I remember reading a comment from Will in an interview where he talked about being off Columbia and there was a dash of disliking towards them. I waz happy 2 read that cuz it totally shows that Will waz tired of the "Hollywood Rapper" thing and that he felt his music career suffered with them...cuz it did. We are about 2 witness a new chapter in his music career.

I'm sure Will is hyped 2 get a small break and go home for a lil' bit. The sad thing is, camera crews may be able 2 follow him there. Will + Jada should perform "1,000 Kisses"...ha ha.

I spent WAY 2 much money this week so i'm probalby gonna hold out on getting it 4 a minute (unless i peep it 1st and love it). I checked it out tho' and laffed at the edited version (cuz that's what i get) and where the PA-Explicit Lyrics sticker should be, it says "Clean Lyrics - No Silly Stuff"...which made me laff in the store. I did pick up Christina Milian's new album and Reggae Gold 2004 so i'm gonna feel stupid if i get 2 listen 2 the album in the store and realize i should have gotten the Beastie Boys one.

NEW/OLD BOOM! REMIX ON THE WAY!!!
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I am an ebay member...i don't think u can get anything off ebay without registering. -
That sucks...how sure are u that this is official?!? Just a few years ago Kid waz still writing, rapping, and recording with help from fellow old skooler Def Jef. I waz hopin' he'd come out with something. He, like many old skoolers are probably just ashamed of what rap music has come 2. The last thing musical that Play did (i think) waz producing and compiling the "Grapetree Hit Mix" album titled "Wreckin' Thangs" which is a compilation album featuring gospel Hip-Hop artists on the Grapetree label (a succesful Christian Hip-Hop label). I heard it years ago and thought it waz alright but i only have the inserts of the album...not sure what happened 2 the CD, i need 2 ask my brother. The album came out in 1998 tho' and Play had a short message in it, signing it "Play (Kid 'N Play). They do have thousands of fans, i wish there waz a way 2 let them know that they would be appriciated..even as solo artists.

NEW/OLD BOOM! REMIX ON THE WAY!!!
JumpinJack AJ replied to JumpinJack AJ's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Yeah, it's great finding new stuff and STILL having something 2 look 4 after all these years. I'm 90% sure this is an official remix...either way, i got it mad cheap so i won't be 2 upset. I'll probably put a snippet of this remix available 4 y'all 2 hear. -
I waz just on ebay, not expecting 2 find anything new or anything worth getting on ebay...however, i waz wrong. I found a 12" record from 1993 on ebay featuring a remix of "Boom! Shake The Room" that i've never heard/seen b4. Either way, i got it thru' Buy It Now and it's gonna be on it's way soon. It's called the "Boom! Shake The Room (Phil Kelsey Remix)."
-
That sux...that's happened 2 me b4. In the summer of 1997, one of the biggest delivery companies in the country went on strike and i couldn't get SWV's "Release Some Tension" when it 1st came out...it took a lil' under a week 4 them 2 come in.

Yeah, back in 1999, she said she wazn't gonna do anymore music until at least after college. However, after her album proved 2 be very forgettable 2 commercial music fans, it started 2 scare me. I waz real happy 2 read that article saying she waz definitly working on music again cuz i thing Kiss The Sky is a great album. I'm sure that if she's lookin' 4 a label, Will is helping her find one or signing her 2 Overbrook (if they have a distributer).
-
I've never been a big follower of the Beastie Boys but i'm definitly gonna check out this album. Back in the day, they released a few singles i liked but often just made music i wazn't checknin' 4 when it came 2 full albums. However, i think these guys will definitly hold me over 4 some more good Hip-Hop.
-
I can't choose...i love both of them. The 1st waz bolder and funnier...but the 2nd waz so sweet and more motherly. They both had good things that the other were lacking in. I think it's cool that the show didn't try 2 find someone who looked and acted like Janet...that would have been fake. I also liked the way the 1st episode featuring Daphne poked fun at the actor switch.

excuse me... have we talked about it???
JumpinJack AJ replied to willreign's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
At least the list is mostly filled with good artists tho.' I don't take charts 2 seriously cuz nobody will agree with every part of them. I think it's hilarious that Grandmaster Flash is number 8. He's definitly a DJ and not a rapper....on top of that he only had 2 real cross-over hits with the rest only being hits in the Hip-Hop community. -
Tatyana has actually been working on a new album 4 a few months...but there isn't any details on it. If someone bumps up that post with that magazine article, u'll be able 2 read about it.
Somethin' gonna change. We just need the right type of new artist, doesn't give up on the fans of hip hop. :music:
There are plenty of true skool emcees out there, it's just that they aren't getting signed by lables that can promote them properly (or promote them at all). It's never been a problem with having good artists out there, it's just been a problem of who gets a record deal, who gets promoted, and so on. It seems that the business side of the music business only wants 2 support the bad and neglect the good.

That's awful 2 hear. Stay strong and keep pressin' on. Life has some crazy surprises but it's all about moving forward...so don't allow something like this 2 slow u down 2 much. Just think about the past things u've went thru' and realize that while life may never be the same, things will gradually heal 2 an extent and after awhile u'll learn 2 cope. It simply was his time 2 go whether it seems fair or not. Even if u deside 2 take a break from posting here...stop by 2 let us know how things are going.

I just wanted 2 remember Ray Charles who passed away Thursday. While i wazn't following his career closely, i spent time in the 80's and 90's watching him on award shows, talk shows and TV specials doing his thing. He's definitly a modern-day musical legend. This loss will probably shed some attention 2 the up-coming bio-pic on him featuring Jamie Foxx.

De La Soul actually talked about doing a triple disc (which i would have looked forward 2) but then they desided 2 release each album seperate. OutKast's album is actually 2 solo albums so i don't know if i truley count that as a double disc (even tho' there are 2 CDs there). I wish i could consider it a solid album, but personally only like half of the trax on each...the others just kinda lean towards that filler stuff. Left Eye actually challenged the rest of her group 2 do a similar thing by having all of them record a solo album then sell it as a triple disc and have fans vote which one they like the most (back when they were having problems). I actually have the triple disc Prince album....ha ha. Can't say i get past the 1st disc very often. I love 2Pac, but i don't like the way they've been releasing so many double albums. They usually pack about 5 or so really good trax which i think perfectly fit his legacy...then the rest are the kinda trax he would record non-stop just 2 make those albums 2 get off Deathrow.
-
I'm not saying they don't have heart...but they certainly don't have it in their music...which makes it one dementional crap 2 me. I like artists that i can get 2 know thru' their music...not artists that i'll never truely know thru' their music. Violence and stuff may be part of their enviornment, but that's not all they have been exposed 2...so why don't they spice up their music and talk about something else once in awhile. All great musician are multi-faced...why don't they find their 1st face and build from there.

WILL AND JADA'S PERFORMANCE 4 NAVY
JumpinJack AJ replied to MissAshley's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Thanx 4 the newz!! BUT WHERE R THE PICTURES!?!? -
It's not great either. Bow Wow waz opening for Snoop at like age 6. That rhyme reminds me of certain people's rhymes skillz on this board. :bowrofl:
-
I don't like the idea of double albums in general. I haven't heard all of the double albums that have been dropped by Hip-Hop and Rap artists, but in almost every case, they have less than a 1 disc album worth of good trax and a bunch of filler trax (trax that are recorded, that don't stand out at all). 2Pac's All Eyez On Me and Bone's "Art of War" are the only albums that i've heard that i think were put 2gether well.
-
After 1996, Nas just didn't impress me anymore. He still makes good music but not that kind that i care about. I think Since his "I Am..." album, he has made scattered good trax that are often hidden by music that i just don't think is very good or has any relevence. Just my opinion. I did go out and get the remastered re-release of Illlmatic and it totally reminds of me of what could have been.
